Profile: ProfileWeapon: Gravityflux (Glaive/shotgun/double axes) gaia_angelleft Action: pursuing gaia_angelright ~~~------~~~-----~~~------~~~~~~------~~~-----~~~------~~~ The god of death in the sky. How it must be laughing down upon them, wings arched free from shackles of the ground, feeling victory in it's grasp. There was no way they could just let it fly away with it's victim. They couldn't let them win that easily. It's callous shriek had Sasselia flinching, covering her ears again from the pitch, her head ringing more in hollow echos. This was unknowing by the fact it was truly from Maria, having attempted to try something Sasselia would never have been able to grasp had she known. Much like the nevermore's revealing transformation of gruesome imagery, any more such as that and Sass's nerves would have entirely snapped. There were surely to be a future nightmare or two based on this as is. She could feel it already. At least Sasselia's confusion from all of this was not in only er own mindset. With Prism speaking the same aloud, she herself had tried to process it logically, only to no avail. "It shouldn't be possible at all. Not unless this is all an illusion of sorts, messing with our minds, in attempts to thwart us. There... There is something not adding up at a-all. I do wish th-these were under better circumstances than this t-to try and think on this more." "Perhaps witch craft? Maybe they have two semblances? Or are they not alone? Maybe a curse?" There were too many guesses said and pondered on, but none of them had sounded plausible. All she had wishes for, were a good solution to try and take the nevermore down. With them so high out of reach, their options were extremely limited. Their only helpful tip at all had been the stinger, still sticking out like a sore thumb. The stinger....!
"Ah!" Having been deep into thought, Prism's robotic voice had snapped her out of her thoughts. The idea to ground the never more had an interesting concept, but just what had either person had in mind? "M-me?" Contemplating her own schematics, Sass had to take a moment's breath before she could speak, wondering to add some extra information to the process of the idea. With a glance to the dust crystal, she managed to grab a few shotgun bullets from her belt, manually reloading the ammo into both ends of the glaive. "M-my weapon cannot load dust into the cartridges I-I am afraid. I do have a plan to compensate. A... A very dangerous option, but I am willing to try another attempt in the sky. I can take this crystal.. and I can use this to bring it down lower! Please... Please lend me your assistance again sir!" Taking no time for anymore planning out, Sasselia implanted her semblance among a single shotgun bullet, making sure it was first in line in the shotgun cartridge. Loading herself back into position, alongside the assistance of the cooperative robot, Prism had given the A-okay to help again. This time around she had left one half of her weapon upon the ground, in order to keep one hand free. A bt bare without it, ut it was a risk worth taking."L-let us get this bird down~!" Activating her aura back on, Sass was prepared. Making sure both robot and human had their aim right, with as much strength they had left, Sass had been thrown airborne once more.
The sky touching her face as before, caressing rough against her skin as the velocity of her ascension, Sass was as high as she could manage to take from the toss. About the same height in the air as the last time, perhaps less height than before, the nevermore was still a little bit out of reach. "nngh..." Her whole body still shaking from the fear, Sass had to force those fears down, kicking herself mentally into action. "H-here goes.." At the highest peak of the height, she made her move, chucking the dust crystal as hard as she was able towards the bird of terror, quickly feeling the descension of air threatening to lower her back down once more. "NOW" Raising her shotgun and aiming straight for the crystal, Sass activated her semblance on the bullet. Using the gravity semblance to increase the the distance of the bullet, the bullets distance shot forward for her target. Hoping to have hit the crystal, Sass began falling back down, forcing her eyes to focus on the crystal to see if it explodes.

XXXIf only they had more time to figure out the mystery of this forming catastrophe. Sasselia had spoken her misconceptions of the ordeal at hand, but there just wasn't a moment to waste. A moment to try to figure it out. There was so much happening, and while so little made sense, they couldn't stop. They had to keep pushing forward for the sake of Kendall. That's all there was to it. Of course, being a machine, Prism was capable of internally processing significantly more with the data presented. Sasselia had been onto something. The concept of an illusion seemed to be most evident, but just how powerful could this illusion be? To create grimm, to mutate the contenders, to blend so seamlessly with reality to no avail. To not only deceive their minds and bodies, but that of a machine as well. To feel every injury, to be withered so rapidly. It was one thing to confuse the senses, but a machine had no senses to confuse. They could detect audio, they could witness visuals. They felt no texture, no pain. Yet the machine had been pushed further than ever before. It had its metal platting damaged, it had its sensors overloaded. Whatever possible illusion this could have been, it had become their reality. A distortion of the one they were familiar with.
That was a predicament that Prism hadn't anticipated. It was so common to have weapons infused with some manner of dust channeling capabilities. Perhaps if instead, it had gravity dust round, she would've been able to use its potential. That, however, was not the case. This posed a problem. A problem that Sasselia had potentially a solution to, again, at what it could assume was the cost of her own safety. While the machine wanted to reason, they were running out of time. ... It had to place its faith in her again, something that had proven right before. It, however, had one worry this time. "If you are certain, Miss Sasselia, but... I cannot promise I will catch you this time. Lady Maria needs me on standby..." It was sure that she hadn't expected it to catch her the first time, but now it was certain it wouldn't accomplish such a feat again. Something she needed now more than ever. Once again the machine had gotten in position, kneeling down with the palm of its hand ready to brace her steps. Once she had gotten settled, they both made sure to get their aim on point. It was harder with a moving target, but they had run out of options. Once Sasselia was ready, the machine nodded. "We will, together. Launch!" The machine had given a warning before throwing her into the sky once again. It was starting to run out of steam itself, being pushed beyond the limits it had been designed for without the aid of aura. It was astonishing that all of them had made it this far, spread so thin. Perhaps if the rest of her team was here this would've been easier, but... They had no choice.
Like a catapult, the metal contraption would launch the blue hair maiden high into the skies above. At least, higher than the machine would've been able to take itself. It would watch on standby, knowing that it could only wait for its opportunity. Its attention would shift from Sasselia to the iridescent cable that dangled from the Nevermore above them. Whipping and thrashing in the wind, trying to make itself as visible as possible for the machine below. 'I hope you thought of something good; Prism, Sasselia. I'm counting on you.' After all, Maria knew just as well as the rest of them, this was their final gambit. If they failed now, they had nothing left. All eyes were on Sasselia and the purple crystal she carried in her hand. It all came down to this final moment, the glow of midnight purple trailing into the Nevermore's path. Even such a monstrous creature could express shock, it knew it had made a mistake at the sound of gunfire. Sasselia's bullet would shatter the crystal into a fine, radiating power that encompassed the Nevermore with a static of violet energy. 'That's it!' It was then the grasp of the earth below would take hold of the grand avian, pulling down on the goliath with its weight tenfold. Not that the Nevermore's strength could be doubted. Even with the weight of the world bearing down on the avian, it tried with the will of a monster to persevere. Flapping frantically, dozens of oversized feathers were ripped from it by the force below. Yet no matter how hard it tried, it was being pulled down, just as Maria's iridescent cable was. It continued to soar in circles over the desolate street, trying to escape. As much as Prism wished to go to Sasselia's aid as she fell, it knew it had no choice. Pushing forward with the last of its own steam it would continue to pursue the moving Nevermore, keeping Maria's cable insight with its metal hand outstretched. "Come on Prism, just a little further! Grab me!" The disembodied voice would shout, even though it still dangled several feet above the machine. It was just moving so fast, still just out of reach. If Prism didn't find a way to catch up but also anchor itself, they may just miss their opportunity. .. Being one to assess the situation, however, Prism was ready to make any opportunity work.
As above, so below, the duo tangent began to approach one of the few fully standing structures after all of the damage. One surely made of concrete and metal, giving it the durability it needed to last. Where one would see an obstacle, Prism saw it as an opportunity. First, the machine would draw a glowing green crystal from its collection of dust. With no aura present, it surely couldn't channel its effects. But, it had a different idea instead. Following Sasselia's lead, the machine would toss the green crystal in its own path, crushing it beneath its feet in order to call upon the power of the wind. A mighty burst would erupt from its feet, launching the machine into the air. Closing the distance between itself and Maria, metallic digits would wrap around the cable, letting the iridescent aura channel from the tether into the machine instead. 'That's it, Prism!' For just a moment, Maria's spectral self would be seen sinking into the mech once again. That, however, was just in time for the machine to be slammed against the building by the Nevermore with a mighty crash.
The Nevermore began to soar over a building, one of its talons nicking the rooftop and shattering several bricks. The structure surprisingly didn't crumble beneath the force that Prism and Maria collided with it. Instead, it stood strong, which is exactly what the duo needed. The tether began pulling over the rooftop, dragging the battered duo with it. However, just as the two that dangled at the end were to reach the top, Maria's eyes would open within the machine. Iridescent aura would radiate over the machine, encompassing it with a vibrant aura as her fingertips tightened around the tether. 'We've.. Come to far.. To let you escape now..." Maria and Prism's knees would bend and buckle, the blades in her heels emerging to embed themselves with the building walls. This, of course, only did so much. The duo was pulled tight against the wall, their mechanized self being slammed back against the steel-backed concrete. The Nevermore would jerk, however, feeling the duo anchor themselves against the structure. .. Grasping ahold the teether with her other hand, Maria's iridescent aura would begin to radiate brighter and brighter, creating a rainbow of colors as she pulled all the strength she could into her conduit, Prism. That's when she took a deep breath, feeling her heartbeat pounding like a bongo from deep within her chest. "You... Can't... HAVE HER!" That wasn't the voice of a machine or a translation. It was the shrilled voice of a woman who's vocal cords were barely hanging on. They were the labored breaths of a woman who had had enough, who wouldn't let this witch walk on them anymore. It was the voice of Maria, loud and true. It was through all of their combined efforts. Sasselia's sacrifice, willing to throw herself in the fray time and time again. Pushing herself a little further each time, throwing her own safety to the birds to ensure the safety of someone she didn't even know. Her moral obligation to do what was right, to see it through to the end. Strength in her selflessness. It was Prism's resilence and logic, reasoning with the clashing emotions of their teammates. It kept them grounded, kept ushering them forward with a goal in mind. It was their protector, who helped them get this far. Then it was Maria, who's sheer determination kept them on track. No matter how things kept falling apart, she kept her head up and pushing further beyond. Beyond her mind, her body, and the limits of her soul. That was evident in the way she demanded Kenna's freedom, in the strength of her aura channeled through Prism as she pulled the tether down and the might of the Nevermore with it. The bird would let out a shrill of agony. Unlike the shriek it sounded when it formed, this one was of weakness, of defeat. It hadn't expected these huntswomen to pull off such a feat. It hadn't expected Sasselia's cunning trick to take the wind from its wings. As Maria's words clamored through the streets like a thunderclap, the Nevermore came crashing down in all its glory. A mass ebony would crash through the building she braced them against, tearing it down as it barreled down towards the street below. The ground beneath their feet trembled, the asphalt of the road giving way to a series of cracks and breaks. Its mass alone was enough to crater the street, mixed with the strength of both enhanced gravity and Maria's will. The nevermore had been grounded.
With the Nevermore's fall, however, Maria and Prism would come crashing down as well. The blades beneath their feet snapped by the crumbling concrete, their metal shell slamming against the ground with a hefty crash. Maria's radiating aura had dimmed to nothing, filling with cracks as Prism attempted to brace them against the cracked asphalt. "Hold out just a little longer, Lady Maria." The machine sounded, concerned for its master. Maria's heart rate had spiked to an alarming level, proving it was too dangerous to push this any further. Even though it couldn't be seen, the woman had been rattled terribly within the machine. That last fall, in particular, had caused her to smack her head, causing a stream of blood to drip from her forehead and down her cheek. Prism, meanwhile, was worse for wear as well. Riddled with dents and contorted metal, the blades on its feet snapped at different angles. Some of the metal had been gashed out, the visor on its face cracked. It was still operational, however, and would continue to be for Maria's sake.

Schatten - Nevermore Try and try as they must, the students would not see a cloud of dust Exhausted, battered and beaten, the nevermore was not so easily weakened. For the blessing of shadows gave it a fight, the only chance they had now was to find the light.
It was time to leave, to take to the sky. To return this child to where she belongs, in the hands of someone who knew what was best for her. The Phantom, the Nevermore. They played their role well, and though there were obstacles, it was time to end it once and for all. With a flap of its wings, it would begin to alleviate higher than it ever had before. Sets of crimson hues were aimed skyward, never intending to look back. ... That was until, of course, a blue blur came into its peripheral vision. A similar blur that had taken out the Lancer's not long ago, she watched it cut down the largest with all her strength. This same blur wouldn't reach her, she was too weak. Even with the silly game that her and the machine played, it wasn't enough. Clearly she knew she was at her limit, so recklessly throwing something to try to break the distance. Stones, bullets, whatever it had been, it wasn't enough to damage the nevermore. They should've known that. That they weren't enough. ... But then there was purple. A glint of purple that shone under the sunlight, causing the crimson hues of the nevermore to widen. Sasselia had surprised it with an echoing blast of her shotgun. Energy would surge from the shattered gemstone, engulfing the nevermore in vibrant purple energy that drastically increased its weight. No matter how hard it flapped, how diligently it tried to move, it couldn't escape it. The energy that surrounded it, the heightened presence of gravity. It felt the wind taken right from its sails, it was going down like a stone in the sea. It was dead weight, and only prolonged the inevitable with how savagely it flapped its wings, kicking up a frightful gust of wind that caused the trees to shake savagely. Any loose dirt, stones, sticks, even signs were being blown away in its panicked display. Yet no matter how hard it tried, if found itself getting closer to the ground. It had to escape, but it couldn't escape. They wouldn't let it. Before it felt like it could get any headway on the development, it felt something tug on it. Another force that wanted it grounded, something that pulled a sensation of pain from deep inside its chest. ... The stinger, the tether. It had made a grave mistake. Burning crimson and yellow eyes would look down, seeing the machine dangle from the cable that was bound to its chest. It was now in the air with it, which was the machine's own mistake. Confident in itself, it turned towards one of the remaining buildings and flew forward full speed. Even if it was being pulled down by gravity, it would clear over, even if just mostly. What wouldn't clear it, however, was the machine that dangled from it. Prism would crash against the building with the force of a truck, leaving the Nevermore to continue its own free struggle. .. That was until it felt its own mass jerk back, the cable embedded in its chest snagged on the same structure it tried to use to its advantage.
It wasn't just that damned robot, there was something more to it. Not even a machine on its own would be enough to hold the bird, even with this newfound force of gravity. There was something driving the machine, something giving it newfound strength. It wasn't Sasselia, who fell away from the bird skybound. She couldn't have gotten to the ground yet, it was impossible. Then... No. It couldn't have been that girl... Could it? A question that was soon answered as it felt the tether be pulled again, turning the bird as the machine readied one final tug. It let out one last shrill, one of desperation, trying desperately to pull against the force of gravity and the student that bound it. It wasn't enough and soon found itself falling faster from the sky than ever before. It wasn't falling anymore, it was being forced to the ground by their combined efforts. The weight of ten nevermore in one, crashing through the same structure that pinned it, tearing it down with it as it crashed into the surface of the streets like a meteor. It heard her, as well. A voice unfamiliar, one unfiltered by machines... One that was strained, but brimming with passion. It was the last thing it heard before the thunderous crash against the stone streets. The Nevermore had been grounded, Kenna dropped from its talons only moments before the impact.
But not for long.
There was a long silence. The dust was beginning to settle. What the three of them had managed to do was a phenomenal feat, one that was meant to be celebrated. But, only after it was truly over. Just as the dust was settling, one large contorted wing would sprint from the crater, sending yet another powerful gust of wind as its fingers slammed against the edge. What was left of the purple energy had subsided, the dust wearing off entirely. It was broken and twisted, clearly contorted from the impact. A mighty shriek resonated from the bird once again, this time, far more distorted. It wasn't proclaiming victory, it wasn't trying to scare them. It was demanding its presence be known, declaring that it wasn't done yet. A shriek that would continue to distort until it sounded like words. "INSOLENT... CHILDREN..." Feathers would fall from its wing as the creature hoisted itself upon its feet again, its words hanging in the air like the screams of the damned. It was a reminder that this thing wasn't just a Grimm. Through the dust they could see two of its eyes had blackened, the white bone-like mask on its face cracked and chipping away. Its other wing had hung limp beside it, completely immobile. The harpoon had been forced completely through, and now dangled freely on its back. Its demonic shrill resonated in the empty streets, its few remaining eyes honed in on the machine. They were vibrant, burning with a seething hatred for these students. Even though it was on the verge of perishing, it wouldn't stop yet. Not until at least one of them was dead, not until she had given them their rightful punishment. Hefty footstep took it forward, causing it to lung towards the machine with its beak opened wide. Of course, nothing would be so easy. Its gaping beak had been stopped by the metallic fingers of the machine, radiating with a cracked, iridescent aura that showed its master shining through. That was it, that's why this machine could hold out for so long. It wasn't just a machine and a pilot, it was a machine infused with the soul of its huntress. They acted as one, creating a much more capable fighter than either of them alone could have. "... May the last obstacle... before her... PERISH..." Not that it mattered, not anymore. The machine was at its limits, and so was the soul of a huntress that just wouldn't die. The machine trembled, unable to hold back the mighty beak of the grimm for much longer. It spoke of someone, possibly itself, as the dying words that were meant to escort the spectral huntress to the grave with itself.
[Phantom's Level: ?.?? No level requirement to engage or damage. Act if you choose.
Shadow of a Doubt; Segment C: Phantom Nevermore The grimm had been disposed of thanks to Sasselia's cunning idea. In a last ditch effort to end the conflict, Maria and Prism skewered the Phantom before it could unleash another assault on the beaten huntsmen. Unfortunately for them, she had one last trick up her sleeve. Through some unknown means that defy what the students have learned, the Phantom had become every hunters worst nightmare. A Nevermore. Put an end to this once and for all, before you too are consumed by darkness. Posts: 9

Profile: ProfileWeapon: Gravityflux (Glaive/shotgun/double axes) gaia_angelleft Action: pursuing gaia_angelright ~~~------~~~-----~~~------~~~~~~------~~~-----~~~------~~~ Had she done it? Had she really succeeded? Had the demon of the sky, free to use it's wings, been tightened into a cage of gravity, soaring and descending down like a fallen god?Too soon to truly tell. Only the fragments of feathers cascading around her position had showed it to have been successfully hit at least. One problem succeeded, but another issue picked up, before the thought could truly process through. It was only by the air resistance, had Sasselia picked up on the next occurring problem. The falling up from the air a second go round.
This time around, she was in a bigger predicament than the first. No Prism to make a catch at the bottom. No perfect amount of aura to cover the fall. The probability of her impact harming her on lading upon the ground... Over one hundred percent accurate. No way could she make it safe to the ground once again. That would be impossible, especially by the fact, on her person, was merely half of her weapon in her grasp. Only half a weapon to work with. Perhaps she should have brought the other half in the holster? How late it was now to reflect, when the world around her, and the gravity of it's core, had began bringing her back down into its abyss. "I need to get to a safe landing.... I must... I must!!"Gravity was speeding the pace of her demise. Sasselia's heart couldn't help itself but race from the descension, and the essence of her life being in danger for her ideas and actions. Desperation was taking part, and the woman had to work with was what she had on person. "Ten shots left.... Ten left upon my belt." With herself having no time to think, it was about to be the test of her life. Timing, and firing speed, the main benefactors in order for a safe result. Aiming her shotgun down towards the ground, bang went the shotgun, releasing the last two bullets from the barrel. *BANG*.... *BANG* Loud on the ears as per every shot it made, but how handy it had worked for but a smidge of time, the recoil stalling the progress down. By that time, she had to manually reload the bullets herself, losing three of them above her head, bringing her supply down to 4, after the loading. It snapped its safety shut, and halfway down along the building side, she had to prepare to save her soul before death could make it's course. "...!!!!! The building!!!" Of course~!!! If only she had clued in sooner! Turning the gun to a diagonal angle, barrel facing away from the building, Sass had fired out another shot. The recoil made only a slight shift in direction towards the building itself, but it wasn't enough. "No!!! I don't want to die! I need to... I need to use my semblance! I need... To push!"
Pushing forward with one more desperate attempt, Sass had activated her semblance upon her weapon as before, putting the last of her auras energy to surround around herself, covering her in a dark blue tint of light. Tossing the weapon to the building, the gun had shattered through the glass, making a dangerous array of a hole for a window. Acting fast, it was when she activated the pulling effect to close the distance, herself being thrown into the building like a ragdoll, crashing through the hole, closing the distance. "Kyah!!!" How the plan had just worked itself out, though not without damage. Pieces of broken glass had either cut her, or was stuck among her clothes and hair, its pointed edges digging into her. The landing itself had the last of her aura shatter, herself a giant ball of pain and collateral damage. "Nnnngh.... My legs!" Hit with a double paralysis, Sassselia was unable to move either leg, jolts of nerve paralysis hitting her full force. "I need to keep moving... I can't lay here... Can't stay and do nothing!!" Reaching for her weapon, Sass began using it for a cane, pulling herself forward into an awkward crawl. She had to catch up to Prism and Maria!!! Where had they went though!? Where were they!? The distant sound of rumbling and crumbling, with the all too familiar noises of a nevermore, had been the beacon of revealing. There they were... A building over? Two buildings? Maybe three? How difficult it was to truly tell, and relying on her gut had been the only option she could accomplish to do. She had to go and help! They needed all the manpower they could get! Despite all the pain, and the slow progress, Sass began on route.. Slowly... Surely.... She headed herself away, hoping to get herself to the right window, to pinpoint the right area to think and act. "Keep... Moving... FORWARD! Keep moving forward!"

XXXThis was bad. Everything was bad. In a trial of scenarios where there were no viable options, this had been the worst-case scenario that not even Prism could've expected. In the midst of fighting the Nevermore, they both forgot that this creature was far more than it appeared. It contained the soul of the damned, a vessel for a witch who sought to ensnare every aspect of their life within her cold, jaded clutches. The sight was horrific, something straight from the nightmares of a child who was afraid of the dark. Feathers of ebony twisted, contorted in a horrific fashion that let the deep, crimson light seep from its own lacerations. Its eyes dulled, it's mask clinging to its face in pieces. It could barely stand, but would not fall before them. A shriek that sounded of the wails of the damned, sounding into a curse for their meddling. Speaking of insolence, defiance, those too stubborn to let it just do what it wished. Even after giving it all they had, this monster of a woman still had more bite in them than they could handle. After everything, it was all for nothing, because this grotesque monster still rose from the ashes, like a phoenix of shadows emerging from the darkest abyss. Maria's eyes hung open wide. Wide in shock, disbelief, denial. She had no time to think, no time to act. Feathers of tattered darkness were strung askew in the breeze as the goliath lunged towards her with an open maw. What two eyes it had left were seething with a bitter hatred, burning anger that matched her own prior. Prism braced itself for the impact, holding its arms outstretched as the gigantic beak clamped down on the machine. It was struggling, unable to muster the strength to even open its maw again. They were seconds away from being crushed, and in those seconds, for Maria it was minutes. Hours, even. She was done... There was nothing they could do. 'After everything... We.. still weren't enough...' There was only one other time in her life Maria was willing to admit defeat, and that was giving in to her sickness so that those closest to her could move on. It was truly the hardest thing she ever had to do because it cost her the closest friend she held in life. Admitting defeat then, it was spiritual suicide. The Maria they all knew, the Maria they all looked up to. She died on that very day, and now... Even though just a shell of her former self, she too, was about to die again today. Sasselia couldn't save them now, Prism couldn't save her. .. That was okay though. She was going to die, but it was on her own terms. It was chasing a vessel of darkness, it was in order to save her best friend. ... But, if she died right here... Then that mean she died for nothing, did it not? Kenna was still out there, this bird was still on its feet.
So then, what the hell was she doing? In that split second, she could only protect them. She could feel her chest tightening, her heart rate accelerating. It was starting to hurt, it was getting difficult to breathe, but she had to hold out as long as she could. She had to do what little she could, even if it was just for a second longer. Iridescent aura would radiate from the knicks and scratches on the machine, coating it in a vibrant aura as she braced herself with the aid of the machine. The beak of the shadow monstrosity would begin to tremble, inching open slowly. One hand grabbed the tip of the top part of the beak, the other the bottom, using herself to prop it open. Metallic digits grasping and cracking the obsidian like material as it forced the great maw open. The weight of the beast slammed against her with all it had, leaving her with no choice but to brace against the cracking asphalt, the Nevermore pushing the exhausted weight limit of the machine to the furthest of limits. Prism was beginning to buckle, even their combined effort struggling. Maria had given it all, and so had Prism. That's all they could do as they stared into the abyss, an abyss that was ready to consume her soul. As the darkness started to creep in, the light of the world around slipping away... She heard something. An insult, a voice. One that she had long to hear over these past several weeks, the voice of a very angsty and pissed off cat who said far too many swears for her own good. It was disgusted, as if insulted that this Grimm dared to walk the same earth as her. It was one that instilled hope in the deepest aspect of Maria's soul, one of relief, but fueled her desire to protect like gasoline on a raging inferno of passion. Maria could feel it, burning tears welling in her eyes. Tears of joy, tears of pain, of bitter relief. 'Kenna!'
It was clear what she was doing, even if the two hadn't fought alongside each other in half a decade. She was taunting the creature, drawing its attention away from prey that laid on its deathbed. Tension in the beak, once like a vice, had been alleviated as the seething hatred that radiated from its gaze had turned towards the new arrival, its beak hanging gawk as if processing what to do next. "The Pariah... Has awoken... No no... No... No no no... NOOOO!" The presence of Kenna threw the decrepit Nevermore into a fit of rage, causing it to shriek some nonsense as it threw its head away from Maria. The first of the orbs of light would burn into the chest of the creature, causing it to caw in agony as the radiating light scorched its very feathers and tender flesh. It formed a medley of light, mixed with sterling silver, a vibrant crimson, and a dull, seeping black shadow. Maria, of course, wasn't one to miss an opportunity. In its shift of attention, the Nevermore raised its head, crying out in agony as the silver light continued to burn through its chest. It was ready to strike again, ready to send its massive body barreling towards the once hospitalized girl. After all, even if she could attack, the creature had no doubt she had the aura to protect herself. Unfortunately for the Nevermore, Kenna and Maria worked best as a team, even with a hunk of metal between them. The huntress clung to the obsidian beak with all the strength Prism had to over, letting the machine get thrown around like a ragdoll. Once the creature lowered its head, however, that's when the duo would make their move. The Nevermore was ready to charge, but the steel-clad warrior would instead straddle it's the beak, taking the reigns on the operation. Prying her metallic digits into its maw, Maria created just enough space for Prism to slip its hand through. Instead of its hand, however, a segment of metal would click out of place. A blade protruded from her wrist, anchoring into the lower beak before detaching from Prism, acting as a brace to keep the beak open. This would leave just enough space for the second orb of silver to whizz through the air, diving directly into the maw of the creature. From the hollowed eyes would erupt a blinding silver, before the grimm and its entirety would explode in an eruption of obsidian wisps and silver flames. Prism, of course, with nothing to straddle would fall to the ground, bracing itself in a kneel. Both Maria and Prism would catch a glimpse of an unsettling sight, moments before it disappeared. Falling from within the wisps of shadows was not the Phantom, but the mangled body of what it once was. One leg missing, arms twisted in a gruesome manner. Her wings were torn, feathers askew. A shattered mask fell to pieces. Still, the deep blue gem was encrusted in her chest. Just under that, though, was a hole burned clean through. Her hood fell free, revealing shoulder-length white locks. Her lower jaw had been removed cleanly from her face, no blood, just scorch marks from the burning light. Her eyes were lifeless. For just a glimpse, however, before vanishing into a burst of shadows. They would both see it, and then nothing.
... Did this mean... They won? Did this mean... Kenna was safe? And what of Sasselia? Maria wanted to call out for the huntress, but, part of her was greedy. First as foremost, she wanted to check on Kenna. Was it really her, or some sick trick of the mind. Both Prism and Maria would look to the feeble kitten wearing a hospital gown, looking no more threatening than a child in her state. Prism's faceplate would click, the visor shifting to show Maria's face. It was battered and bloodied from how many times her skull hit the inside of the helmet, but it was Maria none the less, who looked upon Kenna with iridescent hues. There were tears, though Maria refused to admit it. Tears of relief, of happiness. It was really her, she was really awake, and she was really okay. She saved the day, when Sasselia, Prism and herself spent the entire day trying to save her... "K..ken...na.." Maria whispered softly, barely able to muster the strength to speak the one word she wanted. She wanted to talk to her, acknowledge her, not to mention both hug her and beat the s**t out of her. Maria took one step forward in Prism's suit, only to be met with the sound of gunfire and a voice that chilled her very soul.
"That's enough."

Schatten - Nevermore Nothing could've prepared the Phantom Nevermore for this change of events. Every possible thing that could've gone wrong did just that, went wrong. From Maria being so persistent in her pursuit, to her gaining an additional ally to help fend off against her spawns of darkness. Her trump card was this very transformation, turning into one of the most fearsome beast a young huntsman could ever encounter, yet even that didn't deter them. Through preservation and a cunning mindset, Sasselia found a way to help Maria ground the escaping Nevermore, putting it in such a crippling state that it too was on its last legs. At the very least, she wanted to eliminate the one obstacle that the witch feared, the presence of a rainbow that signaled the conclusion of a two-way prophecy. If she could just consume that radiant light, then all would have not been.. Well, for not. With them killed or incapacitated, she could've even used the last of her strength to call the others, to escape with the outcast. Even pushed on her last legs, she had a plan. Pushed far past the limit, she still had an out. That was until, of course, these huntresses found a light in the darkness. Words filled with disgust and spite, a voice that she had heard time and time over the years from her stalking in the shadows. This kitten potentially hated them all above any other, but was a missing piece all the same. A wrench in the gears of progression, one that had to be snipped at the very roots. That very problem had awoken from darkness, spitting venom like words to draw her attention. .. a taunt that had worked. Of all the things that could've gone wrong, this was the worst of them. This girl wasn't supposed to wake up, Wissen was to ensure that. .. Yet here she was, with an orb of blinding silver, a radiating aura that threatened to banish the very shadows that formed her existence. Maria was no longer the biggest thread, no longer the obstacle in her way. It was, instead, the Pariah. "The Pariah... Has awoken... No no... No... No no no... NOOOO!" A blood curdling shriek would resonate through the city streeets again, the beak of the Nevermore pulling away from Maria. It was too late, though. The first sphere of light whipped through the air like a lightning bolt, striking her directly in the chest. It burned, searing her feathers. Flashes of silver intermingling with the vibrant crimson that leaked from the inner workings of Grimm, along with the presence of wispy shadows. The Nevermore would begin flailing its head, cawing out in agony as the intensity of hatred burned in its dimmed gaze. All eyes locked on Kenna, the creature was ready for its final charge. Even with a hole burned in its chest, some manner of hate-driven determination drove the creature forward, refusing to fail after all of this. Now, though, clearly flustered and thrown through a loop, it would meet its downfall. It never finished Maria, that being the first mistake. As it made its move, the tincan she rode in would straddle her beak, prying it open with the same strength she used to save herself moments ago. This time, though, it was just for a moment. Part of the machine would break off, detaching within its beak. It felt a new pain, the hardened material that made its beak splitting as the blade burrowed deep inside. Now, it couldn't close its mouth. No matter how hard it tried, it was propped open by the detached blade. Then, blinding light of silver. As if a miniature sun was sent her direction, it zipped straight into the beak, causing the grimm's eyes to widen. 'I failed.' The goliath of shadows would erupt in a vibrant display of silver, crimson, and black ghostly wisps. Rather than fading to dust, this show was much more vibrant. As the collision of light and shadows faded, there would be the brief presence of a mangled body. One that was once struck intimidation from the shadows, now, barely a vessel of its former self. One leg missing, her arms contorted, torn wings, a shattered mask with a dark blue gem encrusted in her chest, just above a burned hole. From her hood fell shoulder-length white locks, her lower jaw burned from her cheeks. Her eyes were lifeless. Before her body could hit the ground, however, it vanished into a burst of shadows. There was no trace of the Nevermore, nor the Phantom that resides within.
[Phantom's Level: Phantom Defeated
Shadow of a Doubt; Segment C: Phantom Nevermore The grimm had been disposed of thanks to Sasselia's cunning idea. In a last ditch effort to end the conflict, Maria and Prism skewered the Phantom before it could unleash another assault on the beaten huntsmen. Unfortunately for them, she had one last trick up her sleeve. Through some unknown means that defy what the students have learned, the Phantom had become every hunters worst nightmare. A Nevermore. Put an end to this once and for all, before you too are consumed by darkness. Posts: 10

As the shadows faded to nothing, it seemed as if reality around them had shattered. Rays of sunlight would begin to bleed in from this apocalyptic setting, shedding new light on their situation. Buildings that had once been demolished by grimm were standing fully intact. Streets littered with cracked asphalt and flipped cars were repaired, street lights standing upright. There, of course, was damage done by the students themselves that did not melt away in this newfound reality. The construction zone that the Phantom had brought toppling down on the students was still in ruins, the building that was brought down to the base by Maria's attempt was still nothing but a pile of rubble. The street, too, where the Nevermore had crashed had also been turned into a small crater, but not by what they thought they fought. Onlooking from the outside, too were dozens of citizens both in panic and fear, having watched these huntswomen cause such havoc in the streets they called their home. Littering the street was now disabled and dismembered military drones. To top it off, as well, the sound of rending metal in the final moments of the Nevermore's life revealed to be one of the military carriers that were dispatched to deal with the students. The dropping bay had a large hole through it, melted by the intensity of Kenna's semblance. The cockpit had been dented and contorted by Prism, the wings and spinning blades ripped from the very machine. Fortunately, the soldiers had evacuated the carrier itself before it crashed to the streets, though a number of soldiers were seen holding each other up for support, clearly damaged in the evacuation. Now, though, these culprits were ready to rendevous.
Sasselia would find something waiting for her at the window or someone. At first, it was a winged shadow. If Sasselia had caught a glimpse fast enough, it was a woman with elegant white wings, long ivory locks, but a gaze cold as eyes. She had peered but a moment into the window, her face, both flawless, lacked any expression. It was as if looking at a doll, but one that'd dismiss herself. With a wave of her hand, two other figures would approach as the winged woman flew away. Now, it was two Vale soldiers, one with his rifle raised towards her in her approach. "Halt! Drop your weapon!" The soldier barked, lacking any compassion or sympathy for the floor crawling girl. Something that didn't sit right with the other soldier, clear by the way she looked in disgust. "Whoa there trigger boy, calm your d**k. She may be one of them, but I think she did herself in." Dismissing her partner, the female soldier opened the window before raising her hand. Bright green aura would static across her skin, before becoming surprisingly elastic. Both arms would stretch forward, her hands rapidly expanding in size and flattening in order to slide under Sasselia. "Come on. We're getting you patched up, but, I'll be honest. You're in a huge mess, kid. You've got a lot to explain to the Commander." Elastic, yet durable fingers would attempt to wrap around Sasselia. If they were allowed, or she didn't have the strength to fight, she'd find herself bound by an odd prison formed from elastic hands. Once secured, if secured, Sasselia would be lifted off the floor and from the window before bringing her down to their level. Of course, her weapon too would be grabbed and delivered to her partner. The male soldier raised his nose, the visor covering his gaze, though he was clearly displeased. "Don't think because my partner here is gentle that you're getting off easy. You're being taken into custody, the Commander will decide what to do with you then." Sasselia may be willing to speak her part or struggle, but the two of them already had a destination planned out. It was to rejoin the firing squad, the same one that was lining up at the border of what was once Maria and Kenna's fight against the Nevermore.
"That's enough." There would be a single warning shot fired, one at the ground between the feline dressed in a hospital gown and the machine that approached it. A single warning shot to draw their attention to a crowd of people that seemed to appear out of nowhere. At least three dozen troops armed with rifles and other weapons, one of them had his gun raised at the ground between them, smoking from the last round fired. Several dozen feet away from the students, next to that soldier, approached a woman, one who's very presence spoke of elegance and perfection. A woman of such immaculate beauty, not so much as a single blemish upon her skin or hair out of place. Even amongst her grand white wings, not a single feather dared to sit out of place. Under the bright afternoon sun, it only showered her in vivid rays that reflected in emotionless pools of pale blue. If she stood still any longer, she could've been mistaken for a doll. However, the girl with white ears and the girl in the suit would recognize her presence, one of an eerie and bitter reminder of the past. Her very presence instilled fear in the battered and broken hearts of these orphans, as the woman who ripped their very lives to shreds in a single evening. This woman was quite aware of this, she also was quite aware that these two would be the culprits. Though her gaze was cold and bitter, lacking in any sense of emotion, it was her expression that showed both a toxic mix of annoyance and intimidation. "Students of Beacon. By order of the Vale Military, I demand that you lower your weapons and surrender at once. I repeat, lower your weapons and surrender. Failure to comply and I will have no choice but to use force." Eteria's seemingly soulless gaze would drift from the mechanized warrior, locking onto the silver orbs of a disgracefully dressed feline. They'd narrow, both in irritation and disgust, her white lashes kissing the tops of her cheeks in a blink. "I hadn't expected the mange infested kitten to be on her feet again." It was quite clear that the woman's dagger-like gaze was on her, looking to intimidate her very core. After all, the last the two saw each other was the night of her cousin's death, her very own son, dragged away by the crows. Kendall failed to protect him, she got him killed. If one was to look closer, they would also see that one soldier was carrying Eira in his arms. Her head had been mended, but her hands were cuffed together. It was here that Sasselia would've been escorted as well, though it was the soldier's elastic fingers that instead acted as binds for the huntress.

[[Message to Feralis or receiving parties; URGENT. Vale is currently under siege by Lancers. Grimm Invasion has not been broadcast. Kendall has been kidnapped by an unknown assailant. Maria, as well as the leader of team Strawberry, are in pursuit while fending off the grimm. We are at a severe disadvantage. Backup requested. Prism.]]
Feralis was currently running at full speed through the streets of Vale, the sounds of some chaos going on ahead. Normally, he would not be anywhere near the city if he could help it. Too many painful memories of it, and his home was the forest with the academy being only a temporary home. But this was not a regular day for the wold. He had received a weird message...thing...from the collar communicator he had been given by Maria/ Prism. Which he did try to attack the holographic message when it first popped up...He didn't trust technology in the slightest, let alone advanced tech. But when he found he couldn't damage it or turn it of...he would reluctantly read. It had said there was grimm attacking the city, Maria was in danger, and for some unknown reason someone thought it worth the effort to save the mangy feline. There was also mention of a different team but the wolf payed that no mind. The second he realized his leader and kitten were in danger, he was on his feet, armed, and on the move...until he realized he had no idea where to go. And almost as if on cue, the message would disappear and a holographic arrow would appear to point in a direction. "The tin can is going to have a lot of explaining to do later." He would say with a growl before moving in the direction the arrow was pointing, it surprisingly accounting for obstacles. It was a decent length journey, even with him running his full speed, but he didn't complain or slow. Not if team Mako was in trouble. Especially not when it was Maria. When he hit the city itself he could tell where the chaos was, even if he wasn't looking at the arrow. People were either running away from an area, or they were moving closer. He was confused though as most people didn't seem armed. 'Do the sheep not know there are grimm around?' He wondered to himself, but didn't bother to try and stop to tell them different.
Eventually, he would reach a large crowd of people that seemed to be circled around an area of destruction. There was a destroyed construction sight and building, but he couldn't see much with the crowd. There was also a lot of military but something was wrong. 'If there are grimm why is no one fighting? Why is everyone watching? Am I too late!?' All these thoughts raced through his mind as he would begin to push his way through the crowd, not caring what others thought of him. All that mattered is that he found Maria and Kendall. With his strength, and naturally aggressive energy, he was making decent progress through the crowd. There were, of course, complaints and resistance...but he was ignoring it and not letting anyone stop him. As he continued pushing through, he began to see more. He could see small dots of smoke from all around ahead, the ground even seemed partially damaged...and then he heard a gun shot. This made him pause...before he pushed forward ever faster, somehow, through the crowd. He began to hear a commanding voice, ordering students to lower their weapon and surrender. 'What the hell is going on!' He thought to himself angrily, before finally pushing to the front of the crowd.
And into a loose line of soldiers who seemed to be a mix of guarding, keeping order, and tending to people. Now without a mob of people in front of him he could see clearly. Many, many, drones were on the ground. There was a giant crate on the streets. And there was a giant ship crashed on the ground that seemed to have been through a beating. But what truly caught his gaze was his former team members. He could see the hunk of scrap known as Prism, who Feralis was surprised to see still standing. It had a lot of damaged and torn metal to the frame. And, from an opening, he could see Maria's face...along with blood. Both obviously having been in some kind of serious combat. He would also see Kendall...awake!? 'Cats really do have nine lives.' He thought to himself, not expecting to see her awake from the coma she had been in for so long. It felt surreal to see her conscious...if only in a hospital gown, and not in great shape herself. He didn't know if he wanted to hug the two or punch them. But in his momentary shock...he really took in the scene again. Burning robot bits, crashed carrier, no sign of Grimm, military all around them... 'Students...surrender...wait.' He would think, and realize something was wrong. The military was telling them to...surrender. Looking again he saw no wall breach, no sign of grimm...only signs of military robot remains. 'Why...what...' He thought, trying to and failing to piece together what had occurred here. He shook his head though, to clear his mind of these thoughts. If he wanted to find out, he had to ask. Thinking never helped in this kind of situation. "Maria, Kendall! What happened?" He would call out, trying to push his way past the military but being stopped by them. He would growl, tempted to punch them to get through as they kept him back. "Let me through!" He would demand, trying words for the moment. And when, in that second, they showed no signs of letting up...well, he took matters into his own hands. Literally. A uppercut to the guards chin gave him just enough of an opening and he took it. He would shove the soldier away, and use the opening to get past their line. He would notice some weird bird chick standing nearby to them as well, but he hardly cared about that. He was more worried about Maria and Kendall. Profile: ProfileWeapon: Gravityflux (Glaive/shotgun/double axes) gaia_angelleft Action: pursuing gaia_angelright ~~~------~~~-----~~~------~~~~~~------~~~-----~~~------~~~ With the effects of her drawback weighing her legs down with its paralyzing attachment to the nerves, Sasselia had, with great effort, been trying to drag as much as possible. Every movement had those nerved paralysis legs jolting with ghosting sensations running along her spine. There was the possibility of her finding something to help her along, though it would only stall for time, or worse, her resulting in a worse situation than she was already in. Sass could not just lay to the side and relax, until her semblance effects could wear off. Anything could possibly happen while one person was indisposed on the side. "Almost.. Can't give up!" Other than that fact, Sass was also too stubborn to let a little paralysis halt her in her tracks. After all, there was a life to be saved, and the other half of her weapon to retrieve from outside. Tch! She knew she should have put it into her holster, but at the time there had been no time for thoughts, or more so for any extra weight on her person. The Argenia stubbornness that ran through her family bloodline shone through a little TOO well at this moment. It was a safe to say though on the ongoing occurrences, and for what the next current of events were about to uphold, Sass would not have to try to crawl anymore. If only to pause would have been from better results. "Just about.. Just about there.. I-I see it all!"
Instead of the view of the fight, what Sass had been about to see just as the light from outside had revealed all, it was the exact opposite of what was about to be expected. Just raising herself to a sitting position, she was preparing to use a part of the frame for support in order to get to her feet when she was able. Better to at least get some surveillance on the fight itself. Instead of battle, and the results of all of their work, there was a winged figure blocking the way of her sight instead. Just behind the woman in flight, there was the sound Sasselia had been hoping to hear. The sound of their victory having been announced. With one look at the feathered being, they were clearly hanging airborne for more than just for show. A possible spy for the enemy? ...No. That should not be possible at all. If the enemy were to send any spies, they most obvious outcome would have been for them to have been watching Maria and Kendall, for such occasions as the defeat of their phantom. Military? Bystander? The white angel with the crisp, cold eyes had her filled with questions. The woman in question had waved her hand towards her direction, and before Sasselia could truly speak up and ask, the sound of footsteps had her swivel her head quick to the noise, only to see two soldiers headed her way. "ah!?" "Why are they pointing at me!?" Befuddled and afraid from herself unable to move very well, Sasselia had no choice but to drop her weapon. Setting her weapon down was a mistake, herself slumping back down to a lying position, with her only means of a brace for movement and support dropped. "P-please don't shoot me!" Her voice came out in a worried tone, eyes watering from the mass confusion of the soldiers arrival. Surely they didn't think that SHE was behind the whole thing!? There was no way she could explain in any way possible of her position, or rather whose side she was on for that matter. If they were truly pursuing her in this matter, their timing and arrival had to be towards a most recent, opportune to a point of an aftermath. With them in the vicinity, quite approached in this matter, the chance of them missing everything was very possible. "I-I...I..."
Unable to speak, silence was the verdict. There was little comfort in knowing the fact that Vale could hire such a man, too quick to wanting to pull the trigger on her, just by his tone being used! The woman with him would at least prove to be more trustworthy, being more explanatory on the matter at hand. Commander!? Explanation!? All was understandable now... She was being taken in for questioning. Sasselia could only nod, allowing the elasticity of the woman's semblance surround her. This would finally get her off the floor, so she had no complaints on the matter. "J-just please... Find the other half of my weapon.. I-it was once my mothers. Th-that is all I can ask..." Whether they would abide her request, or ignore it, she could only look away from the partner of the woman, only closing her eyes within the confinements of the elastic hands... Just awaiting for what was going to happen.
Quiet, composure of silence. IT was the most Sasselia had adorned herself of, with them making way towards the next location. The outside air had brought her breathing to finally slow from the stuffy confinements of the building, only soft patterns of breath made under her breath. Was she truly going to be safe? Or was this all truly a ploy to be lead towards her death after all? The guard holding her in confinement never gave such a presence from what she was able to tell. Her partner on the other hand... Was too hostile. Understandable, given the state of the city... Towards one girl though, who was unarmed, and unable to fight back even had she wanted too... Was a little too much for her to truly deal with. The tension was certainly there, only to increase the closer they were to the destination. Only with the amount of people that had taken up the area of their arrival, with guns in their hands, had it been clear they were quite near the border of the battle ground, a small flickering sight of Prism between the throng of people signifying that the robot was alright. What about the others? Were they successful in saving Kendall? At first, she was unable to tell. All signs of anything were from a large sounding male voice calling out from somewhere to get through. IT was only by the rustling of the group she was around, had she seen a faint glimpse from between of both women. Kendall was awake!? The relief had filled her with relief for the sake of woman alright. Now, if only her legs could work their magic, and allow her to walk again. Allow her to bypass these people to go join them, with a pass from the two military soldiers with her.....

  ► Little Do You Know 【 Mood ≡ Scared. 】 【 With ≡ Long Live Team MAKO 】 【 Semblance - Active ≡ 0/4 】 【 Level | Posts ≡ 0 | 53 】 【 out. of. commission. ≡ 】
XXXIt seemed that even when a shimmer of hope peered over the horizon, misfortune was intent on plaguing every moment of their lives. Prism's legs locked themselves into place, Maria lurching forward and nearly falling out of the suit. Droplets of blood and sweat would drip from her chin onto the cracked asphalt, a high pitch ring resonating against her eardrums as the gunshot clamored through the streets. The world around her had deafened at that very moment, reality rebuilding itself before her very eyes. Though even reality itself seemed to be slipping through her grasp. While she could see the unhinged anger and bitter hatred flash in Kenna's steely orbs, even that matter of fact had begun to slip away. Clearly exhausted and beaten, iridescent pools would widen in confusion and disbelief as the reconstructed world around her began to spiral. Had the circumstances up until this point finally hit her? All the physical and spiritual exertion she and everyone had embarked on, had it all finally caught up to her frail body that could barely muster the strength to speak verbal words on her own? What little combat she had done up to this point had always been reliant on Prism, letting the machine follow her simple physical gestures in order to protect it and herself. Even when utilizing the suit functionality, it primarily was just a means to keep her safe. Let the machine do what it wished, occasionally with her input, but it was meant to keep her alive, safe, and mobile. This time, however, was different. From continuous possessions that left her heartrate strained, to sustain the weight of structures and enduring the damage of dozens of Lancers. Where Prism was a shield for Maria, they used it instead to protect Eira and Sasselia, while pushing both her own aura and the machine to the farthest it could go. These limitations have never been quite so tested to the point of compromise, where the machine alone wasn't enough to endure the weight of the situation. Her aura used to save them from impalement, to helping ground the Nevermore and toppling a building in the process. Even using the last of the strength she had to hold her ground against its fearsome beak, then prying that same mouth open for Kenna to finish it off. Not only was Maria on her last legs, but Prism itself as a whole was structurally unsound. Nuts and bolts barely kept the machine together, meanwhile Maria's own stability that left her barely clinging to life as it was on the decline. Her shallow, strained breaths had become more rapid, frantically clinging to every smidge of oxygen she could. Her chest was on fire, the world around her was spinning as that gunshot continued to resonate in her ear canal.
Every time she blinked, it was as if reality jumped forward in time. One moment, Kenna had that sour, angry look on her face. Another, she stepped away. Slowly, the dreaded ringing began to fade as the sound of distressed city streets began bursting against her eardrums once again. She heard a familiar voice, one that she personally adored why she knew the same couldn't be said for Kenna. Blinking slowly, iridescent pools gazed towards the violent wolf who knocked a guard flat out, yelling her name... Kendall's name... What was he doing here? What were all these soldiers doing here? Who was Kendall looking at? 'Prism... Analysis...' Maria didn't have it in her to speak again, she barely had the strength to weave together halfhearted gestures for Prism to translate. "It's... Hard to say, Lady Maria. The Nevermore is gone, but, it appears as if it was never here. We are surrounded by soldiers, including their Commanding Officer. There are onlookers, bystanders, not a grimm insight. ... Kendall is awake, Feralis is here, and Sasselia is... Somewhere. Something is wrong. We are being detained." Prism itself was even having a hard time processing everything that happened in the last several moments. The fight they just had moments ago was very real, as the damages done to him and the injuries sustained by Maria made that prominently clear. "In layman's terms... We've been played, Lady Maria." But, none of that was sinking in with Maria, it never did. What did that mean, they lost? That wasn't possible. They turned the tides. Against all odds, Kenna woke up. In MAKO fashion, they put an end to not only the Nevermore, but that damned Phantom that had been haunting them all this time. Weakly, she'd grit her teeth and try to get Prism to move with more finger gestures, but the machine refused to comply. "Maria. Stop. You're not in any condition to take control. We've been ordered to stand down, and we are... For your sake. I won't let you dig our hole any deeper." ... That's when she heard it. The words of the wicked, the voice of the most wretched soul in this world. A voice that chilled her worst of nightmares even to this day. It was a voice that demanded order, that they surrender. Yet, hearing that voice only made a single image flash before her eyes... The image of a woman shattered to pieces, like a porcelain doll, as she and Kenna sped away without ever looking back. They couldn't look back. 'Prism.. turn us... around...' That... Perhaps was the only thing the machine would comply with, though judging by her heart rate, it was going to be a mistake.
Carefully, Prism would begin taking the precaution to gently move itself and Maria. The machine would tactically brace its own chest cavity at the risk of anymore malfunction, preventing Maria from falling from its grasp. As they moved and turned, however, the dizzy reality that Maria was forced to experience was settling in. Mangled machines, upright buildings, and crowds of onlookers both watching in curiosity and fear. A number of soldiers were attempting to calm the crowds, instructing them to return home at once. Iridescent orbs would catch the glimpse of a familiar wolf, but even his presence couldn't bring a smile to her face. He was clearly angry at a soldier, distressed, wanting to know what happened here. Something that she too wanted to know. What happened here? Where did all the Grimm go? Where did all these people come from? Kenna, Sasselia, and why was Feralis here now? "I.... do...don't..." She was disappointed in herself, unable to give Feralis a clear answer. But what could she even tell him, or how? That's when her eyes fell upon her, though. The witch that was responsible for everything. The monster that had ripped their lives away, leaving them as nothing but damaged husks in the world ... Yet she remained whole. The last time she saw this witch was the day that her and Kenna ran away from home, the day that she was too slow to save everyone... The day that she should've backed up over her head. If she had just finished her that day, none of this would've happened. Kenna wouldn't have had to run away, they and Feralis would've remained whole. Kenna's cousin wouldn't have died, Kenna wouldn't have slashed open that poor girls face. .. Her parents would still be alive. They wouldn't be living in fear. ... Fear... Was that what she was feeling, staring into those soulless eyes? Her own gaze hung blank, glazed over as if petrified. .. Something that neither Kenna or Feralis had ever seen on their leader. A feeling of helplessness, of weakness... Of fear... Her chest was tight, her lungs refusing to let go of the few breaths she retained. It made it impossible to speak, nearly impossible to breathe. Had the Nevermore crushed part of Prism, was her ribcage caving in on itself? Why was it so difficult to breathe, to hold on? The world was spinning, blurring in and out of focus. In fact, Maria was certain that consciousness was slipping from her. The world around her was deafening once again, the light before her eyes dimming. Even with Prism struggling to keep her upright, to keep her awake, it felt as if she was falling out of her body. Even without her semblance. 'No.. hold on... just a little longer... I can't... I can't leave them... Not with her...' There she sat, trapped in a machine that wouldn't heed her command. There she watched, as one of the few most precious to her walked towards what may have been oblivion. The burning passion and hatred present on her aura, being sucked away by the soul-consuming gaze of the witch. There she waited, feeling darkness encroach upon her as her heartbeat got slower and slower... What was going to happen now? 'I... can't...'

The male soldier that was once aimed and ready to fire seemed oddly put off by Sasselia's request. Even though only the lower half of his face was visible, the movements of his nose and cheeks gestured at a visible confusion of contorted expressions. "Your weapon? Don't you realise the weight of the situation? I think you've got a lot more--" "PRIME." The elastic woman suddenly shouted, where her voice was once friendly and suggestive, was now demanding of her male colleague. Once more, the man seemed visibly shocked by yet another outburst of words, but the man then immediately regained his composure before hanging his head. "You heard her, make yourself useful and find the other half." If the female soldier hadn't already passed off the half of the weapon to her teammate, she would've in that moment. Her free hand would make a rather sporadic wiggle towards the building, indicating to him clearly where she wanted him. He, however, rose his head and began to speak out in objection. "We're supposed to report back together, Ella. I'm not just going to-" "Prime. Just. Go." Once again, the elastic woman cut the male soldier off short. This time it wasn't shouting before, it wasn't an overpowering voice to drown out his. What was visible of her expression was stern, demanding respect from a colleague who was now clearly beneath her in rank. The soldier, now known as Prime, would visibly strain as he gulped, then simply nod. ".. Right... I'll rendezvous once I find the rest. Just, stay safe, okay?" His threatening and intimidating demeanor appeared to dissolve in seconds as if merely a facade that clearly was not working. The soldier pulled away from the two, drawing a pistol before shooting the ground beneath him. There was the brief shimmer of purple energy before the man was propelled upwards towards the rooftop; in order to give him a bird's eye view of a similar weapon.
Now that it was just the two of them, Ella could finally breathe. A heavy sigh escaped her lips before drawing in a deep breath, her elastic fingers shifting to keep Sasselia properly elevated before they began their walk. Originally, a walk that was intended to be silent with the three of them, Ella felt an urge to speak up. It was clear that Sasselia was rubbed wrong by a handful of things. And though at this moment she was circumstantial a criminal, she couldn't help but see her for the student that she clearly was. Tilting her head up, she'd cough to get Sasselia's attention on her. "Hey. Just so you know.. Lil' Prime usually isn't such a hard a**, he's just been on edge lately because the Commander threatened to send him home." Not that it excused such threatening and violent behavior, though it was clear at the end of their interaction that he was visibly diffused. As they rounded a building, she continued with a disheartened laugh. "Besides... If he was actually intending to shoot you, you wouldn't have seen him aiming. He's trying to put on a show for Ms. Perfect. Which, while a bit much, was probably better for everyone. You don't want to be her center of attention." There was something to be said about the Commander. While many men were known to fawn over her immaculate beauty. There were those that if not captivated, generally held incredibly high regard for respect or fear of the woman, both of which were justified. Unlike most officials, Eteria was known for taking the frontlines to diffuse a situation as fast as possible. Any operation she was apart of was handled with haste, even if it meant taking drastic actions. Though it was for such a reason that she didn't handle nonsense that hindered progress. The two of them drew closer to the gathered firing squad, initially appearing to have the situation diffused. That brought a smile of relief to Ella's cheeks, causing her to tilt her head up again."Once we regroup with everyone, you'll get patched up. You'll either have the option of cuffs or my hand. Whatever you're more comfortable with." Hopefully Sasselia understood what the woman meant by her hand, it was the same manner that she was currently bound with. Just a couple of short minutes later, the two of them approached the line of soldiers. Amidst them was a man that notably stood out in the back, one that turned to meet them in their approach. Unlike the others, he wasn't wearing a visor or even a helmet. This man was noticeably taller than most of the other soldiers here. His uniform was detailed with accents of white and red, making a vivid indicator of his position as a medic. His skin was dark, and his eyes were ... Odd. They were detailed orbs of gunmetal and electric blue, clearly cybernetic. Attached to his uniform was, of course, a large first aid kit. More uniquely, however, there appeared to be multiple canisters illuminated with different colors. Each of them had a valve connected to a series of tubing that attached to a glove on his palm. "Mercy, Ella. What've you stumbl'd upon? Bring 'er here." His voice was deep, but warm and welcoming. Clearly shocked, however, as the man had no intention of seeing one of the 'captives' so beaten out of shape.
Sasselia was carefully laid on the ground, though Ella's hand itself had stretched and flattened to act as a surface between Sasselia and the hard ground. It surely felt odd, for sure, almost as if she was trying to sink into a thin memory foam mattress. "This is the one that shot the dust at the carrier, managed to throw herself through a window and cut herself up pret~ty badly. What do you think, Geralt?" Ella inquired curiously, joining Sasselia in sitting on her own hand. Geralt, large and in charge, was already getting ready to work. He kneeled down beside Sasselia as a veil of vibrant blue aura staticed around his hand. He'd hover his hand towards her, causing the aura to ripple out over her presence. .. Then, as it passed through her, she'd feel a sensation of warmth and comfort. Something to try and calm her down. At the same time, however, certain parts of her body would illuminate. The parts of her muscles that were tense from the backlash of her semblance would glow in an electric ripple-like effect, similar to a network of electricity. Down on her legs, however, and anywhere else the glass had hit, an array of small dots would appear to show were bits of glass remained. "Mm... Visible tearing, embedded glass, minimal aura... Blue? Tell me, does your semblance have a backlash? What's left of your aura is on fire right now. .. Uh, what exactly is your name?" At first, Geralt would wait for Sasselia's response. In all honesty, the man didn't even need it answered. Her body right now was a canvas, stained with the wounds of a hard-fought battle, whether or not it was for good. With his left hand, he'd move to connect two tubes to the contraption on his palm. One tube illuminated neon yellow, the other, a vibrant green similar to the aura that Ella had. "So, what I'm doing here is I'm rekindling your aura, giving it a boost. Only catch is I need to touch the center of your body, so I'm going to rest my hand on your stomach. Green will improve your healing aspect, and yellow will not only calm your flared aura but work with your regeneration to purge foreign bodies from your body. Basically, think of yellow as an antiseptic that can also remove the glass. It's gonna sting. It ain't gonna give you any pep, though. So don't even think about tryin' to fight. Not that I think you would. Somethin' in your aura tells me that there's more goin' on than we see. After all, aura is connected to emotions. And I'll be damned, your confusion is infectious." With his monologue out of the way, Geralt would carefully press the contraption against her abdomen. With that, a medley of green and yellow aura would begin resonating throughout her body and over her skin. Slowly the shock of shattered aura would begin to fade, though Sasselia would surely feel discomfort as the yellow aura began carefully pushing even the tiniest sliver of glass from her legs. Geralt was all for talk, but he'd remain focused on Sasselia's initial recovery. ... That was until the gunshot reverberated through the city street, causing the man to jump and Ella to be on her feet again. "What the hell was that about?"
There the winged woman stood, both unamused and unmoved. She was the pinnacle of perfection, the image of immaculate beauty, but her soulless expression and vacant eyes invoked unbridled intimidation and fear to those who gazed in them. It was those same icy cold, soulless eyes that would pan around the scene before her. A mechanized suit that contained the body of a battered and between woman, Maria. Kendall, a drowned looking cub who barely stood on her feet as it was, looking upon her with the most unbridled sense of hatred imaginable. A gaze of honed daggers meant to pierce her very soul, though fell short as the situation spiraled even more out of control. There was another aspect that Eteria had not considered in her arrival here. First, Kendall's awakening. Next, someone causing a riot within her very own firing squad. A man with canine ears and a wolf tail shouting for the very students who were accused, followed by the hefty grunt of the soldier he broke his way through. Eteria's eyes only broke sight of Kendall the moment the wolf boy came into view, demanding to know what was happening and to be allowed passage. As the first soldier fell, more moved into position to intercept. However, all soldiers stopped in their tracks as Eteria raised her hand, dismissing any and all actions of interception. These soldiers had been trained like dogs by her, to obey a command by the most subtle of gestures. As the woman lowered her hand, the porcelain white fingertips would wrap around the hilt of her renowned weapon, Reinigen.
'So that's how it is. These are the little friends you hid behind. Pitiful.'
With a moment of distraction where the feline wasn't hellbent on trying to dig her claws into her porcelain shell, Eteria would reap the opportunity to speak again. "To the students who stand before the military, I will not ask, but demand one last time. Lower your weapons and surrender. I stand before you as a public service to Vale and its citizens. Maria Sinclair, Kendall Kingsley, and Sasselia Argenia; you currently stand accused of the following. Needless destruction of public property. Reckless endangerment of Vale and its citizens. Falsifying the report of a Grimm invasion. Instilling a sense of panic. Destruction of military property, and lastly, assault against military officers. I expected far better of the huntswomen in training of the esteemed Beacon Academy. Out of respect for the Academy, I am willing to take you into questioning. Failure to comply, however, and I will have no choice to not only utilize force but place you all under arrest. This is not just an order from the military, but the Minister of Defense, Eteria Castilla de Lioncourt." Her voice monotonous and vacant, though loud enough to ring through the city block and be heard by all its citizens. The circumstances were laid out before them, the students had been backed into a corner. Where in the eyes of students who were fending for their lives, not more than ten minutes ago, the apparent reality of the situation settled in. They were criminals, if not terrorists in this circumstance. Not a soul around them aside for those caught up in the battle would be able to comprehend what truly happened within these city streets because that never happened in this reality. Eteria's icy orbs focused on Feralis, just as Kendall's steel gaze had. "You have one, and only one chance to eject yourself from the situation. I do not take kindly to those who assault my officers. If you fail to comply, then I will have no choice but to detain you with the rest of the accused. Do you understand?" Feralis would surely feel it, the vacant soulless gaze that was encroaching on his very spirit. A tone that often made blood run cold around her, an impending sense of intimidation that the woman naturally instilled.
With that threat in place, her vacant gaze would pan to the steel-like gaze. Her eyes, soulless hues meant to pierce her very soul and intimidate her down to her core. She continued to stand there, unamused with her fingers curled around the hilt of her blade. Clearly her words had no girl, except antagonizing her further. .. Just as she was intending to do. It was as if they two were locked in a battle of will, solely through their gaze. Kendall, who's gaze was brimming with both hatred and determination to stand her ground here and now. The kitten spat savage words so potent with venom, one might believe she was instead a snake faunus. Yet, Eteria's expression remained unaltered, unwavering. Eteria's lips opened to speak, but rather than an outlast to those claims... It was a diagnosis. "Deranged, experiencing symptoms of psychosis and confusion. It appears that the shock of the semblance swap epidemic may have damaged your psychological state. Once we've diffused the situation I will ensure that you are issued the proper medical support and treatment. " Instead, she had the audacity to speak in a disposition to deflect her claims and even offer her aid. Something that would surely make the lioness blood reach its boiling point. Unbridled hatred would surely erupt in an out lash, just as the lioness had always been prone to. It was a trap in order to make her act, to justify Eteria defending herself, and it was working. This sad, pitiful child had always been easy to play. So had her cousin, and mother. It was the very reason each and every one of them met an untimely end, and if Kendall wasn't careful, she would be turned into such an example. Eteria's vacant gaze narrowed as a medley of silver and amethyst shimmered over Kendall's presence, indicating her intentions of violence. "So be it, stray" Eteria's words were hushed as she took a step forward, coming off as a whisper in the wind that only those with the most acute of hearing would catch ... Someone like the very cat before her. It was clear to any onlooker that Kendall's aura was ready for battle, something that matched with her words, Eteria could justifiably take as a threat. That meant she didn't need to hold back, not for the eyes of the public.
With her first step, one of the gemstones adorned on her extravagant necklace would shimmer. It was as if an electric green aura illuminated upon the surface of the matching gem of malachite. From that brief flash, Eteria's speed accelerated. Where Kenna was still several feet away from Eteria, the imposing winged woman was suddenly upon her. Eteria stood hunched, yet still stood several inches above Kendall herself. The woman's cruel, unfavored gaze staring down directly upon her, her lips moving slowly. "Ignorant, Insolent child." Once again, her words were nearly silent. Toxic words that were meant for Kendall, and Kendall alone. Eteria's right hand had noticeably moved from the hilt of her sword and instead cupped the scabbard, while her left hand's fingers were wrapped around the handle. The hilt itself was barely against Kendall's abdomen, just below her ribcage. Without hesitation, the hilt soon thrust into her gut. If it had been the blade itself, it would've effortlessly skewered the mangy cat where she stood. Unless, of course, Kendall's 'cat-like' reflexes were quick enough to act. Or her aura was strong enough to endure. "You're aware that your friends would've been better, and safer, if you hadn't woken up. Are you not?" Whether Kendall was left heaving up her insides from the strike to her gut, or she had been spry enough to evade it, this woman was far from done with her. One thing this woman was known for was quick execution of a situation, delivering a swift punishment without a grand display. It was needless and unnecessary, a waste of time, focus, and energy. While many may have taken this close up the opportunity to uppercut or slam someone into the earth, Eteria would keep it simple. Keep it clean. For that display alone would be enough to flaunt her skill. Following the attempted strike to her gut. She'd take a short step back then swiftly moved her left hand from the handle to quite literally give her a firm, backhand slap across the face. Aura would ripple across the surface of her 'skin,' subtly using her aura to drastically increase the physical strike of her palm. Aura would crack and crumble away as her fingers traced her skin, the clap of the slap was sharp and violent. Truly, the main purpose of the aura was to keep Eteria's own hand from shattering as her porcelain palm channeled the epitome of her strength. "You're nothing more than a drowned kitten, clinging helplessly to your vessel." Potentially stunned, Eteria would continue to move with pristine elegance in her choreography. She would once again brace the handle of her blade with her palm. In doing so, she would force down against the handle and use that strength to pivot the entirety of her scabbard outward and away from her waist. In that same instance, she would crouch and turn to the left, causing the outward protruding scabbard to strike at the side of Kendall's knees in an attempt to throw off her footing. Whether she forced the girl to kneel or fall to her back, she would finish with one last grand display. In the pivot of her spinning body, she would finally draw the sword from her sheath. Once she had circled to face Kenna once again, no matter what stance she was in, the tungsten longsword tip would be aimed directly at her throat. It was then, finally, Eteria stopped. As she was not willing to spill blood on this matter, not here. "In this instance, and this instance alone, I'm willing to let others pass judgment on you. Do not make me turn this into execution, Pariah." Eteria's words hung on the air, a threat that would chill any who heard it down to their very core. The tip of her blade still hovered beneath Kendall's chin, just millimeters away from kissing her eve's apple.
Standing next to Sasselia and Geralt, the soldier known as Ella seemed to get visibly fidgety at the entire situation as it unfolded before them. Then, once Eteria took matters into her own hands, she couldn't help but speak her thoughts aloud to Sasselia and Geralt.
"Something... Just doesn't feel right about all of this..."

Feralis saw two looks that strengthened his resolve as he pushed past the first guard. The petrified look of Maria, something he had never seen before...and the look from furball, to protect Maria at all costs. Not a real answer to his own questions, but answers would come later. Right now was the time for action. He wouldn't be relying on his semblance, but he wouldn't need to. A good punch would do anybody in. At least in his mind. He noticed, immediately, more moving to try and stop him. He smiled with a toothy grin, a look that said bring it on to any who would dare. He was already preparing to fight his way through when they all suddenly stopped. He was confused why they did. Even with confidence in his own skill, he knew something was up. He doubted human military was that much of a pushover, and from the faces he could tell it wasn't fear or respect of him in the slightest. As he would shrug it off and prepare to continue, he would hear the human in front of his friends speak. As she started he was pretty close to just ignoring it and continuing on his path, even with her hand over her weapon. Some stuck up human who had a self inflated ego of the military meant nothing to him. To the point that he actually continued walking forward till he was not far from them. However, when she started saying what they were accused of...it gave him pause enough to stop to listen. Especially the false report of a grimm invasion. That would leave him confused as he looked around...only seeing destroyed robots and a giant air ship...but no grimm. But grimm didn't last anyway they were dusted...but why would the military be accusing them if the robots were smashed... 'Agh, too complicated.' He thought to himself annoyed. Why couldn't anything just be simple attack this one? But with that evidence...he was paused still. Then she told them they could comply and be questioned or arrested. Making Feralis growl...but it didn't seem the worst thing if they did. If they could explain whatever happened they would be free for sure, in his mind at least. So long as it was fair.
He wasn't sure it would be though, not from the looks he had seen of his former teammates. He was still debating in his head what to do when the female human, named Eteria or whatever, would look to him with a soulless gaze. It was like there was nothing human behind the eyes themselves or living. It caught Feralis by surprise for a moment, long enough for her to say he should leave and not get involved or end up with them. Where once there may have been uncertainty in his mind, a resolve would form. One that did not fear her threat. An internal resolve that was part of who he was and always would be; that he would never, ever, back down. And threats were not something he ever took kindly. As her gaze turned back to kendall, Feralis hands turned to fists. 'Is she...dismissing me!' He thought with anger building. He was not going to be ignored by the like of this person, no matter what her position was. Position meant nothing if you couldn't back it up. He could hear Kendall's threat to whoever this military human was, and see the glow of aura around her as she was prepared to fight too. It would be like the old days...on the few times they expressed their anger against someone else instead of each other. However, before he could flat out challenge her to a fight, something had happened. He had missed the diagnosis, the fact that she was about to square off. So her sudden move forward, far too fast to be normal, caught him by surprise...but spurred him to action. While Kendall's look had said protect Maria...The only one who could beat the mangy feline was him. He would rush forward, but unlike his original plan of just fighting the person...His intent was different. As she seemed to direct a flurry of an assault against Kendall...Feralis would try to interpose himself. He didn't know if he would get there in time or not. But he knew he had to try. If he could, he would shove Kendall out of the way to be between her and Eteria. Despite how close he was, and how fast he reacted, the woman was moving way fast. He was only able to reach them to try to shove Kendall after the woman had attempted to hit her knees, and unbeknownst to him, was circling to have her blade appear for a dramatic finish.
If he was successful in shoving her: "Leave her alone! If you want someone to fight, you fight me. But i'm not going to let you attack her!" He would say in defiance to her, keeping himself between the two so she would have to go through him to get to her and with his arms straight out to either side. He did not have his aura up, nor was he making a move to combat her yet. Partially because he wasn't thinking straight enough to put his aura up yet. As for not throwing a punch yet...despite his anger something felt wrong. She had talked about treating her, about something being wrong with Kendall, yet was the one to make the first blow. Plus...he wasn't dumb. With her speed and weapon, he would not be able to act fast enough to get his own unless he got lucky. And a punch against someone who moved so fast and was probably expecting it would only give her a chance to move him aside so she could get to the others.
