Right now, I mainly draw character art or sketchbook pages with pencil, pen, and marker, but I'm hoping to learn landscapes so I can, y'know, actually put my characters somewhere instead of having them float nebulously in a white void. I also sometimes do abstract stuff, but I don't even know what it would be called beyond that. (The abstract stuff is more for my own catharsis than anything.)
Most of my inspiration comes from manga. Kazuya Minekura has one of my favorite styles, and I like CLAMP's line work too.
My main goal would be to better capture the scenes that are already in my mind, and maybe one day draw them into a comic. (I'm a writer first and foremost, so the characters already have their stories. It would be cool to have an alternative way to share those stories besides just words.)
Anyway, I hope to improve regardless of where my focus is. :3
I don't say this often but wow, the very first drawing, it shows so much originality here, in this drawing, and perhaps in others you can find your style. keep up the great work.
That's so kind of you to say! emotion_bigheart I hope to learn as much as I can here. :3

Hello!! I'm Alexis, but everyone calls me Loki. So much easier lol I've been drawing since I was 5 (I'm turning 23 this year), but only got serious with it in middle school when I drew my first portrait... being of Jack Sparrow in graphite. For years I just stuck with pencil portraits, other than that I like to dabble in many styles, and love playing around with markers and colored pencils~ Lately I've been working on realism portraits in colored pencil, and I have no idea what I'm doing. I get inspiration from basically anything; friends, family, music, movies/tv/books... There are so many other artists out there that I really look up to as well. I learn everything by experimentation, and a lot of Youtube videos lately. I am a huge procrastinator, and my motivation comes and goes, but I've been trying my hardest to draw on a daily basis. It's not easy, but gotta keep trying right?

Welcome, I also have been studying color pencil portraits. number 1 goal: figure out how to use highlighting, ive seen so many people use beautiful whites in their work, that give the work an extra pop, however i have no idea how this is done, i have three working theories but haven't sat down to acutely try them, i know Crayola white pencils don't work at all unless your using toned paper.
Speaking of which iv been thinking about doing my own video classes this may be difficult and probably armature , so ill need to think about it , im also trying to figure out another way i can go about doing the videos ( time lapsed drawings ) Deviant art allows you to do this, and im trying to figure out other ways, acutely i have allot of media education goals ( i wonder if any one would like to join me in learning better media )
Getting side traced, Hello again, lol i didn't forget about you i just get lost in thought welcome once again and looking forwards to seeing your work.

I've learned that there are sooo many techniques you can use for highlights. Paint, leaving a white space if using white paper... for individual strands of highlighted hair, I often see people using an exacto knife to carefully pull away the color. Haven't tried that one myself yet.
Ooh good luck! I've always thought about videos, but I feel better just posting wip shots of my pieces lol I lose motivation easily so I would probably never get a video done xD
And it's no problem! ^u^ Thank you for the welcome~! I look forward to learning alongside everyone here~
Hi, New here. I like art. My goals are currently taking digital art making 3d models and animating them. Currently learning to animate using blender. I like to create digital art though also. Here for the community aspect.

Hello! Sorry that this guild isn't as active as I should like, but you should be able to find tons of reference materials all over.
Drawing Database on youtube is also pretty awesome!
What are you working on at the moment?

Hi,
I'm grey, recently finished my art course and am now kind of adrift and unsure as to what I want to do with my life/how to get there. Looking forward to using this forum for inspiration and challenges.

Hello! Sorry I'm not as active. What courses did you complete? And congrats!
Why don't you take up the Fawngust challenge for Instagram?
