It wasn’t that Toby didn’t know there were talking cats around—he did, naturally—it was just that, well, he didn’t think about the possibility of one being (almost) in the way. So the sudden angry shout and a quivering wad of fluff on the ground very near him made him misstep from surprise, and nearly topple over completely. Luckily, though, he had practice with recovering from his own goofy missteps, and so came to a stop near the cat with just a weird sort of flourish to disguise how off balance he was briefly. He looked down and grinned then. “Oh, sorry Mr. Tibblets,” he said. Sure, he knew who the cat was, but that was so much more fun to say. “Forgot to look! I didn’t step on you or anything, right?”

Fleur Willis: Contact JugglingFleur's smile stayed bright as she nodded. What a hardworking kid, already working her way up to such a fun and flashy act. "That's exciting! It's always good to see your practice pay off." She looked over to the stack of fire batons, her eyebrows creasing the tiniest bit. "Just make sure you try it out before tonight. I can spot you when you think you're ready if you'd like." She couldn't resist going a little mother duck, but the question about what she was doing snapped her out of it before she could get too worried. "Well," she said with a smirk, "It won't be ready tonight, but I have been getting better at my handstands recently." She put her ball on her head and then pushed up onto her hands, rolling it from one ear to the other before her arms started shaking and she came back down. "I'll probably try to work some upside down moves in next time I choreograph." Alexa Dewey: TrapezeWalking was overrated. It was so boring, both visually, as it wasn't very impressive and anyone could do it, and physically, as it didn't give the same nice stretch and flip sensation as front walkovers did, or help you practice your spotting while you were stuck on the ground trying to get from point A to point B. So, yes, Alexa was walkover-ing around the grounds, half to warm up and half thinking about getting a snack. Then that raised the question of what kind of snack. What she wanted was cupcakes, but mandarin oranges would probably do better for keeping her energetic and feeling good for her performance, which was kinda important when you were, y'know doing a bunch of flips and stuff way up in the air. Her deliberation was broken by a loud angry cry coming from the ground close-ish to her and then an apology. She saw the cat and human sized figures nearby as she was upside down. Eyes widening, she lowered herself with a bit of a frustrated grunt and then slid down so she was sitting and more on an equal level. "Um, you are kinda in the way, though?" She shrugged, ignoring the fact that she was also now in the way. "That's okay, though. How goes it, guys?"

Alphonse Wingates-St. Grey - Fire ArcheryHow long had the man been at the circus? He couldn't remember now. It had felt like ages ago when he had first come here all alone. His life before this was nothing more than a dream now. Wasn't it better that way? What was there to remember? He couldn't recall. It must have been boring - lonely. Nothing like his life now. Sagittarius serpentarius. That was the scientific name of the magestic beast on his forearm. Its red stripe over the eyes matched his own makeup, but that was where the similarities ended. He, after all, wasn't in the bird act. He just volunteered his time to help care for them. Such beautiful creatures! If only he could fly like them or even like his own arrows? "Rhona? Rhona, dear? Fawkes is ready..."Alphonse stopped as he noticed the others. He hoped he wasn't late again. He pulled out a golden pocket watch and stared at it with orange eyes for a moment. It had stopped again. "Oh, dear. It must have broken again. That's the third time this week!"✪

TiberiusThe kinker caught himself pretty well and didn't fall on his face, which was good since that was the absolute least one might expect from a performer. He even apologized. Tiberius drew himself up to his full foot and six inches (before puffed out fluff) and regarded the human, deciding whether or not he was gonna give the guy another round of what-for or not, when some doll came wandering around on her hands and stopped the whole parade.
"Nah kid, you didn't step on me - just be more careful. I'm the biggest cat here that ain't in a cage. If you can't keep your peepers peeled for me y'might really hurt the others." As for the hand-walker, Tibs gave her a once-over and began smoothing his fur down now that the immediate startle was over and he was being mollified.
"Got a whole yard to walk, dollface. If we're in the way it's your blinders." The cat didn't sound gruff or mean though, more like he was teasing good-naturedly. "Just getting tripped over by this bouncing mook...I'd much rather get tripped over by a sweet thing like you." Watch him pour on the feline charm, watch him.

A tall, gangling man with slanting brows passes by the ticket booth and gives Henny a nod.
"Make sure y'give everybody their tickets," he says, voice tinged with a Westmorland burr. "Don't want nobody in here that isn't s'posed to be!"
He tips his hat and continues on, disappearing into the crowd.

Henny nodded her head in return she would do her job and wouldn't let anyone in without a ticket. It wasn't a huge job but it was still important.

"Well, I usually pay attention," Toby protested, "But I was running a bit late, uh," he glanced around. "I'm pretty sure, anyway..." He rubbed the back of his neck as he considered how much he really did pay attention to things--which was...perhaps not a lot outside of performance. Non-standard ways of walking around were...not terribly surprising to him, so he didn't bat an eye at the girl sort of rolling into their conversation. He couldn't help but laugh and roll his eyes at the sudden "charm" being put on. Of course, it wasn't pointed at him, so perhaps that colored his perception. "Oh, c'mon, Mr. Tibblets. Nobody's really gonna be charmed by that," he said, waving a hand dismissively. "Besides, you're a cat." He laughed lightly, shaking his head. "Cute, though."

"Tiberius," says the woman, tall and well built, white hair pulled back into a cascade of curls. She's wearing an impressively fit corset laced up the front, her icy blue eyes crinkled at the corners, makeup done to perfection, long lashes low.
She points a flowery parasol in the cat's direction. "You've left one of your toys lying around again, sweetness. I put it back in the box. Toodeloo, darlings!"
She winks at the others and sashays off, hips swaying.

Tzuyu looked over at Ollie he was a performer in the circus and was more of a medical doctor or whatever he was calling himself. He seemed like a cool person. Taking care of the other performers injuries on the job. He also seemed to be a mediator and deals with everything that the performers go though be it an cite, illness or exhaustion. Tzuyu laughed to herself she remember in one of her acts she mined being cut in half, she wondered what the doctor would do in such a case. Tzuyu looked over behind her and saw her friend Livia. She looked busy and Tzuyu didn't want to interrupt her. She was literally all the performers in one body. She could do it all. If any performer called in sick she was there to take their place in the ring..Tzuuu didn't think she could do all that looks too stressful.

The sound of her name called Rhona's attention from the group that she had been previously engaged with. It took her a moment to register who had called to her, but once she did she freed her arms of the giant puffball (much to Clawfoot's dismay) and broke from the group for just a moment to meet the young man with one of her precious babies. The good news was that with her new found freedom, Clawfoot was free to join her dear friend at his side (and no for the treats that she knew was in his pocket she swore) and shoved her head under his hand for affection. Churchhill followed his mother, brushing past Tyberious as he passed. Whether the tiger liked it or not, the grumpy old vulture did find some kind of kinship with the cat. Alois followed as well, lighting in Alphonse's hair while Churchhill settled in by his ankles. Alphonse had been there since they were all chicks, after all, helping Rhona take care of them. Why shouldn't the grumpiest and most obnoxious of them take comfort in his company? After a moment of nesting, Alois settled down atop Alphonse's hair with a contented chirping sounds. "Oh my word, Alphonse, she's beautiful! As usual, of course! Honestly I don't think I could do this act without you. Could we my darling Cassidy?" She reached up to scratch the side of the Secretary Bird's head. She closed her eyes and made a happy little trill but never let's Alphones' arm. "But no, I don't think you're late. Or else we all are. For some reason," Rhona glanced around at the group behind her, "no one seems to know when the show is meant to start... I don't... guys were we told when this show was meant to start?" She turned slightly and addressed the rest as well as Alphonse with a furrowed brow. "Like I know that our fearless leader can be a little... erratic, but surely he told us... right?"

Alexa Dewey: TrapezeAlexa couldn't help a bubbly, good natured giggle. "Yeah, yeah," she said, crossing her arms but still grinning. "Hey, if we gotta look out for you you gotta look out for us. Figuratively and literally, mister." She took a moment to admire the little-ish fluffy beast in front of her. Alexa was not a difficult person to charm. "I mean, I guess if I had to choose I wouldn't mind tripping over you, either." Her giggle turned into a full fledged laugh for a few seconds. She nodded towards Toby. "He's kinda tall. It'd be a long way down." She then turned her full attention to him. "Hey, positivity's good! Do you need some?" She gave him a look over for a moment, pursing her lips. "I really like the green streak thing you've got going on with your hair right now, and your act looks really fun." She pointed at him and raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Don't hate on cats though. Cats are good. The tigers are some of our biggest hits, and these guys are good too!" She watched as the woman walked by. "See? She agrees."

TiberiusTiberius huffed angrily at Toby, puffing up to three times his usual size in upset - how dare this upstart kid with two left feet discriminate against him like that! "Kid, that's awful racist, what the hell's wrong with you? You got somethin' against cats?" He was absolutely ready to tear this kinker a new one, give him some scars to liven up his act, when she came by, all glory greatness.
Immediately his fur is back to slicked and the cat is all star-eyes and charm. "Doll." The endearment is spoken with a reverence that belies it's sexist terminology, she's perfection. He's in love with the sway of her hips, the swell of her bust over the corset. Those lashes! "Much obliged!" God but he loves to watch her go, the entirety of his attention drawn to the classy white-haired woman as she sweeps across the yard with mysterious air.
Alexa was on his side too, though she seemed to think that he was just some cat. But performers could be like that, since they were the highest ranked citizens. Usually Tibby didn't hold it against them too much so long as they remembered that he was a performer too - even if most of his act was done outside the Main Tent.
"I got enhanced senses, missy. I know you're there long before you know I am." Tibs eyed Toby, smug. "That's how I knew to yell at this mook before he put his foot on my face." Giving in to temptation because she seemed nice enough, Tiberius fluffed his tail out and moved so that he could rub his fluffy sides against Alexa's legs; it might have been a greeting, it might have been him being nice, or it might have been a way for him to further smooth out his fur using her costume.
One just never knew.

CynthiaCynthia sighed as she halfheartedly did a few small tricks with her devil sticks. Currently she was waiting for Izobel to arrive so they could practice for their act. Although they didn't have the same type of instruments, Izobel used a diablo, they still worked well together. And they got along together too considering both had been picked up when the circus had come to their towns. Cynthia was running away from an abusive family, so when someone the same age as her joined in the circus and they could perform together? Well she was glad that she could have such a friend at least! She waited for her friend, while absent-mindedly watching some of the other performers. She wasn't as close to them as she was to Izobel, but none of them were terrible. Life in the circus was... interesting most of the time. Sometimes it was just traveling with the caravan and playing cards though. But it was better than if Cynthia had stayed with her family at least.

Izobel - DiaboloIzobel was running so behind. First she couldn't find her favorite Diabolo set and then she had an issue with her outfit and had to resort to changing into her secondary outfit. And with that came the fact that her Diabolo had to change as a result in order to be able to be color coordinated. Cynthia was going to chew her out for being so late. It'd been ages ago but she could remember the day she first met the other girl. Since then they'd become close and had sort of paired up their acts. Cynthia used devil sticks which was similar to her own Diabolo. How long ago had it been? Shaking her head and grabbing everything that she needed Izobel scurried into the main tent.
Huffing and puffing Izzy ran up to her friend and wheezed, out of breath, before catching her second wind. "I'm so sorry I'm late for practice. Forgive me?"
Izobel waited until her breathing evened out before she unstrung her diabolo and placed the cup onto the string and began to perform a few warm up tricks. She and Cynthia needed to practice their bigger moves soon.

Mercy Haynes - Equestrian AcrobaticsMercy blinked back the weird wave of whatever it was that had washed over her, pinching the bridge of her nose as she grumbled. She should probably check on the horses, make sure that they were being properly brushed up and made up for the show, but at the same time she had come to find her friend - her best friend - to see how she was doing. It wasn't that she was nervous or anything - having recovered from a botched trick not too long ago that had left her back scarred when she'd missed timed a jump and had almost ended up ending her SHORT career in the circus. She bumped her hips against her friend and grinned. "What were we talking about again?" She asked, having forgotten the line of conversation. "Oh right, how's the new routine coming along?" Better to gossip about that than putter back around and do back flips for a few hours. Though she should probably try and stretch out a little bit soon, but she'd get Delilah to help her with that soon.
