Spectator Above the noise Tourmaline heard Aue's voice. His was one of the few that she actively listened for; the bond the two of them had formed while trying to hold true to the lessons that had been beaten into them strong enough that she was certain she would hear him anywhere. Tourmaline had no glasses with which to shield her eyes. She made a note to ask Aue about procuring a pair for her at a later date, but settled for bringing her arm up to shield her eyes with the crook of her elbow. It wasn't a quick enough reaction to keep her from blinking away balls of dancing light that hazed her vision as it adjusted to the darkness. It was better than nothing, though. Anything was better than nothing. As her gaze refocused on the field her arms crossed back over her chest once more. This was more like the fight she was expecting to see. This was what she was here for.

Aue ended up with Faustite in his lap briefly, likely due to something the cat had done, but said nothing as the youth stalked from arena side with Mauvian. The half-youma wouldn't have heard him anyway, he was escaping and Aue didn't feel the need to press or follow. Faustite would be back, with the obnoxious Mau, sooner or later. -- Tiberius started to complain as Faustite stalked from the arena, so distraught that they were leaving his senshi's battle behind that he didn't realize Smokestack was pulling the old gas chamber magic bullshit until it was too late. "******** you--" It was terrible. It burned. It felt like it was eating at him from the inside out. He couldn't hear properly - he couldn't smell anything but blood and char. Tiberius sank all of his claws into Faustite's shoulders and puffed up angrily, spitting at the indignity of it - the outrage.
And then he fell off the half-youma and onto the ground, hissing and clawing at air, at nothing, at everything before settling a bit into a hunkered crouch, body working working working in a delicate circle to expel the vileness Faustite had brought to him. Instinctively, he knew he had to get it up, he was dizzy with it - sick with it.
Foam. Just foam and bile and he was going to ******** zap this b***h so hard when he was done. Right in the ******** d**k. As soon as he'd managed to clear out the rest of...whatever...the ******** had been.
Chunngggaa. Chunnngggaaaa. Splat. Wet on ground. Tiberius' jaw, chewing at air. Flecks of foam flying. He felt better already, but added a few more horks for good measure.
His star glowed as he looked up. Quarter power would do it. He'd get in trouble with Mistress if he destroyed the little b*****d, after all. "Nutshot!" Tiberius fired his forehead laser right up at Faustite's balls and then bolted back into the arena, belly low to the ground, leaving the half-youma b*****d to his fate.
His senshi needed him.

Faustite gained a desperate reprieve.
There, outside the makeshift arena, he stood in a slight interstice where he could catch his breath. To the world, he didn't exist. Aue focused his attention on his ineffectual packmate. Tiberius spent all his energy on retching the smoke from his lungs. No one looked to him, no one expected of him, no one even acknowledged his existence.
But that moment faded as the cat finally retched, a pealing wet sound while foam flopped frothily onto the floor. He turned, then, angry, and the dull glow to his star finally bespoke brilliance. Faustite pushed himself from the wall, words stuck in his throat while he trawled himself out of absence from the world, but it wasn't enough. It wasn't fast enough. A beam shot him squarely between the legs, and with it came an agony as bright as the attack. Instantly the surrounding area numbed, and while the cat flounced back into the arena, Faustite crumpled into a boneless heap. Injured hands flew to his throbbing crotch while he curled up. Tears welled in his eyes.
Slowly the pain drifted in a northerly direction, crawling up into his body to make itself a comfortable home. Faustite bit his lip throguh the angry throbs. I'm going to skin this cat.
I don't know how, but I'll skin it. And Schörl will thank me for it.
He laid for a time until he felt his thighs once again, and could trust himself to walk without collapsing once more. Slowly he hoisted himself to standing with the crystals jutting from the wall. They flickered, warm and thrumming beneath his touch. So much for the show. Aue would laugh at me.
Faustite carried his heavy pride back through the winding hallways. His closet was some distance away, which gave him time to reflect in passing.

The look the other corrupt gave him was… surprising. It wasn’t a look of disgust like she had been wearing, although he didn’t blame her for that look to begin with. Maybe his magic had surprised her, but he was very aware that she must have magic of her own. And if it was as heavy hitting as her normal attacks, he was in a lot of trouble if she could get her hands on him.
He hadn’t anticipated the maneuver she used to get out of his hold, and he winced in pain as she managed to hit him in return. Okay, so he needed to figure out a better way to land an attack on her.
It seemed cruel to use his attack on her again, but if it kept her from being able to see him clearly, if it kept her from being able to land a decent attack, he was willing to play a little dirty.
Wasn’t that what Aue had suggested? If he couldn’t out fight his opponents, he needed to play dirty. After all, the rules didn’t bar him from it.
“Solar maximum!” he shouted again, with a little more vigor this time, hands thrown out in front of him as he made to try and dodge any counter from her.

Adamantine had enough time, and understanding to just barely miss the solar flare attack blinding her vision. She saw dots and her vision worked to go from black tinted to adjusting to the darkness of the lights again.
She had probably 20 or 30 seconds to play with the new found darkness to her advantage this time. The magic had hit hard, but she shook it off. If Laby knew that she was effected by magic and didn't keep her predatory hunt, he would be disappointed.
She had no intention of disappointing her Alpha wolf, much less the Beta wolf that was watching her right now. She was an original wolf and anything that came after was just sad pathetic bands of imitation and pups with more bark then bite. You could not be a wolf, she thought, if you could not bite.
Once she spotted the colorful sleeves in the dark, she rushed, pulling her hand back and in return for Kama's first attack, she aimed for his chest/throat area. If she could stun him, then she wouldn't even need to use her magic against him. She felt her hand hit solidly, pressing as much weight in as she could with it. Though her arms, and likewise attacks with them were weaker then her legs, she knew that this was going to effect the other corrupt.

He didn’t have enough time to even realize she’d moved towards him, her hand against his chest and throat, pushing him back and down. He couldn’t even shout in pain, the breath knocked from his lungs.
She was vicious. He had no idea who she was, and he had no intention of finding out. If he never saw her again, that would be fine with him. However, he didn’t like the way she’d been looking at his General and General Tourmaline, especially the latter who had been nothing but supportive. Even if his own General would be disappointed by his failure to win in the tournament, he knew Aue would simply make this a learning experience.
And most importantly, he’d tried. Which was a lot more than he could have done months ago, maybe even just a few weeks ago.
He was changing, even as she knocked him back, and he couldn’t do more than grab a fist full of her hair in response. Even going up to fight her in the first place was a huge step for him, and he knew the others who tried working with him knew it.

Ada didn't make much movement as her hair was pulled, her hand remained on his chest. As lights flickered back on from his magic, she continued to stare at him.
It was...a deadlock. One more movement, one more attack.
That's all it would take here. She could lose, for the first time she thought in the fight for real, and she would have to explain to her Alpha that she had lost to someone she thought much lesser of her.
Her ego, she thought, because she had one. Or perhaps it was time for more intense training. Whatever it was well....She continued to stare at Kamacite, not moving in fear that this would be it.

He coughed and wheezed as the lights came back on, grabbing hold of her wrist to try and push her away, reaching out with his other hand to shove at her. This was not the best show of his skills. There was something more to that look she was giving him, beyond the typical opponent. As if there was a reason for her distaste of him, even though they’d never met before, and more than just him as himself.
What was going on between her and his General? The look she gave him couldn’t leave his thoughts. It was strange, and yet…
Even though he was resigned to the fact that she had the upper hand in this fight, she also had her own slip ups that he would be able to learn from. She thought highly of herself, and must have someone she wanted to impress, and that would be her downfall at some point. Maybe not right now, but at some point…
He shoved at her, trying to regain his footing and catch his breath.

Today was certainly not that day though. For this being one of her first few fights as a super, she felt well off. He shoved at her and that was a mistake. There was no intent to finish the fight, there was no bite to end the game.
That was the tide and change in this battle. his push back only fueled her to move forward and roundhouse kick the senshi away. Aurostibite called the fight to a finish and she stood now. Her shoulder had stopped bleeding from his magic.
Her head inclined at the smaller pup, who would probably be a threat later on, but not right now. Not unless he meant to go into fights to win.
To Wolfe and Tourmaline, the wolves that had originally been part of her team and abandoned, apparently to make their own, her head tilted. If this was all they had, how far had they fallen from the graces of the general. Before long, she wouldn't even see them as wolves any longer.
Disappointment clearly rang on her face before she looked away from them and moved towards the Beta.
"I will be dressing my wounds." Adamantine informed the general, reaching over to gently pat the corrupt cat on the forehead. "Until the next round."

Spectator
An immense feeling of pride welled up in General Tourmaline as Kamacite rose to the challenge of fighting against Adamantine. Ada didn't disappoint either-- good. Neither seemed to be paying attention to anything save for the sparring partner in front of them and it was about time.
Familiarity tingled at the edges of her senses as she watched Adamantine fight. Flickers of memory flashed to days past when she had been on the opposite end of a flurry of attacks meant to disorient and distract. That was the name of the game. Survival of the fittest. And yet....
And yet...
As the battle came to an end Tourmaline brought her hands together in applause. "Well fought, Adamantine! Well fought, Kamacite!" A good show was a good show no matter the outcome and she would give a bit of respect where it was due. Tourmaline hoped the silver and blue senshi wouldn't rest too lightly on her laurels. The battles would only get tougher from here on out as the Tournament weeded out the best of the best.

For having been in the Negaverse for less than a year, already promoted to the rank he was now, Kamacite knew he’d had a lot accomplished. Even if he didn’t feel that way.
But most importantly, he wasn’t alone in this any more. Sure, Wolfeite started him off knowing very little about those he was supposed to work with, as though he was a special pet project meant to be kept secret. At least until he’d met Aue.
Aue, who he felt like he was disappointing the most as the other senshi landed another hit on him, the bell ringing for the end of the match as he tried to catch his breath once more. When had he ended up on the floor? Had her hit been really that strong?
Shakily, Kamacite pushed himself to his feet and dazedly, subconsciously, lowered his head in a polite bow to the other senshi as she turned to leave. But although he was upset he didn’t manage to win against her, his dark eyes fixed on her with wariness and curiosity and an energy that hadn’t been there when he first stepped into the ring.
She might have won, but he’d done his fair share of damage.
Carefully, so as not to trip over his hair that trailed behind him, Kamacite made his way out of the ring.
“I can do better,” he said quietly to Generals Wolfeite and Tourmaline as he stopped in front of them, a shaky hand lifting to wipe the sweat from his brow. Even though they didn’t have to, they had supported him. Even though they probably expected him to lose from the start.
That was what being in a pack was all about. And belonging to something where he felt as though he had people, and mau (as loud and distracting as Tiberius was), to stand by him was more than he could have ever asked for.
Maybe it was the adrenaline pumping through him, but surprisingly… he didn’t feel like crying. Not yet at least. Maybe later when everything settled. No, he hadn’t won, but it was just like training, just like Aue had said. He would just have to learn from this.
Speaking of…
Kamacite lifted his head to see if Aue was still watching, or if he’d already left and trying not to look too disappointed when he didn’t immediately see him.

He'd been silent the entire fight, simply watching with Maledictus at his side, arms folded across his chest; the ears atop his head had been upright and alert, not flattened, none of the tell tale signs of aggravation or danger or fury showing. The majority of his face was covered by the mask pulled up over it, and all that could be seen was the glowing gold eyes that almost matched Maledictus' in intensity, watchful and dangerous.
The lights had exploded at some point, sparks flying. Tourmaline was clapping, and Adamantine was leaving the ring, Kamacite stepping out as well, looking flushed and weary, long hair trailing behind him. Wolfeite's gaze followed his movements, feeling the slow pulse of his heart, the steady thrum that adrenaline and hunger always brought him.
He knew how to do this. How to play the game.
Release the wolves.
The arms unfolded from his broad chest. Wolfeite reached out and put a gloved hand atop Kamacite's head, smoothing clawed fingers down his hair in a gesture that, to anyone else, might have been fond and looked almost ridiculously out of character for Wolfeite. But there was nothing of discomfort on what little could be seen of Wolfeite's face, nothing of irritation or frustration or anything else in that same vein.
Beneath the mask, hidden from the rest of the world, his grin was wild.
"Well done, Kamacite," he said, voice his usual low, growling rasp, rumbling deep in his chest. "You fought well. Be proud. The rest of the pack can take care of your injuries."
A dark eyed look as given to Aue, then to Tourmaline.

There were medical aid stations set up around the fighting ring, along with bottles of water and snacks to keep up stamina and nutrition. Aurostibite stepped over, waving a red flag.
"Round one, complete," he said, and gave the goings-on a squinty-eyed look before saying, tone dry, "Congratulations, Super Adamantine. Super Kamacite, well done."

Aue watched the fight, silently, recording as much as he could; Kamacite rallied very well, and the walking pillow skittered back in, smelling of foul smoke. Fausitite did not, however, return. The super of lemons made mental note to check in on him and see that the Mauvian menace had not in fact murdered him, after the bout was completed. In the end Adamantine Spar was victorious, but it wasn't a sweeping victory and that was satisfactory. Kamacite rose and immediately swore he could do better, eyes searching the stands. Fight over, Aue ended his recording, closed the tablet back to a pen, and set it back into subspace so that he could step forward. Wolfeite was petting Kamacite, high praise indeed coming from the General - since Aue knew he had not a single truly kind bone in his body. He is playing games again. He did it before, I cannot recall the name offhand, but it's in the Files. Still. Kamacite responded better to kindness than to fear and the General knew that - good. He caught Wolfe's eye, the dismissal of Kamacite and the intent of his words clear as any command - ' take care of him, I'm done.' Aue stepped forward then, to Wolfeite's side, nodding perfunctorily. "As you command, General." Aue offered a hand to his battered packmate, "Come, you have injuries." -- Because he had to keep stopping to hork foam, Tiberius missed all but the last of the fight. He was not happy about that, nor was he happy that the bird won, but he was happy to see that his senshi had done a bang up job of beating the blue bird down some in his absence. Maybe Tourmaline had been right and his...excited yelling had been distracting his poor sparkles? Dammit. That would mean he'd tortured Smokestack's testicles for no---nah, there'd been a reason.
Well, he'd make it up to the bugger. Pancakes. Maybe Axinite, maybe the Finn. Who knew, maybe even Kian. Tiberius got around, after all.
Pleased as punch he hopped over to the ring and danced between Kamacite's ankles, rubbing his softeness there in sweetly done figure eights of support and affection. "Good job! You did awesome! ******** amazing job, kiddo! I'm super proud, you're the best senshi a guy could have."
And if he maybe spat foam a little close to Wolfeite's boots...well, he couldn't be blamed, really. He'd taken a half-youma's attack recently, now hadn't he.

Zircon made no comments as the fight pressed on, and no reactions except to flinch in response to the lights shattering. She kept a hand on Silk to remind herself she was carrying precious cargo, and with the other she slid the goggles from her hairline and held them up in front of the kitten's line of vision.
"Protect your eyes," she murmured down at her shoulder, her own gaze never leaving the battlefield. It was easier to track Kamacite's brilliant uniform in the darkness, but she caught flashes of silver in the low light while her eyes adjusted and created an estimation of the battle in her head. It was hard to say who had the upper ground, with the limited information she could see and hear, but at the end of the sparks and rough percussion of bodies hitting bodies, she heard Aurostibite declare their senshi the winner and sighed, content.
It should have been a matter of course, with her training, but one could never presume.
She waited at the edge of the ring to greet Adamantine with Silk in tow, a thin-lipped smilrk on her lips at the sight of the other senshi crumpled on the ground. "I was worried for a minute," Zircon called out, hands on her hips. "But you did well. That kick halfway through? Incredibly precise." She could talk about the weaknesses in Adamantine's defense at a later time, when the sweet rush of victory had faded. Let the girl have her moment in peace.
