ForgivenessIt was a good 12 minutes until the gates of Atlantis opened and Melvin came out, dressed as he had been in the same outfit since he left, though not with a diving suit, in a slim long-sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up and tight jeans. He wasn't wearing shoes or socks.
Looking about, he stopped as he saw Melody, the gates of Atlantis closing behind him. "Hello Melody."

"People-weird," was all that Joy was willing to give without further prodding. It wasn't a sore spot, not exactly, but she didn't want to volunteer potential drama-fodder.
"Well I think you are. Because you helped stop Atlantis from still trying to drown the island without anyone of us dying, um, excluding Kim. That was not your fault. There was nothing anyone could have done. But everyone else got to go back home thanks to you and we didn't have to fight anything else," Joy enumerated, "And it's great that this is actually proving to be a good thing for you! Plus, with it no longer being suicide trying to dive here, I can bring you some homemade food now and again."

How are you Dewing"Don't worry, Melvin... I've been making sure he stays fed. I don't let the people I consider friends starve." She didn't normally worry about feeding people this regularly, save for one, but right now, with how Terry was doing? She'd make sure he was fed, and fed regularly. "Ah that might... be why I have no idea about it. I've never been down near the jungle." She blinked a little at the mention of both Rin and Noah, not being familiar with either of them. "I'll keep it in mind, though I have no gardening experience. It's just nice to know we have something like that on Island to help us get fresher produce." She almost winced away from the hand clap to her shoulder... She did, in fact, wince, but managed to not pull away, despite her instincts. Melvin's question, however, had her looking at him in shock and surprise, a bit of a blush on her face. "Us? Dating? No." Her head was tilted away from Rhys, but Melvin, if he was any good at reading lips, might make out the mouthed "Unfortunately for me." she made at the wall. "Why would you think that?"

He didn't notice her wince; in fact, he sort of just regularly gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze, not for any other reason than to maybe help calm her down. He sensed...tension, for some reason. He wasn't sure but again, he figured they could talk it out later.
Rhys scowled at the idea of getting trapped in was may as well have been a rusted-over, over-sized tin can. "That sucks, dude. No ramen?" At least ramen had different flavors, unlike fish, spam, or beans. "And no problem, least I could do since you stayin' down here's basically...brought the sun back and all." He knew there was no reason for him to feel guilty about that, but still. The smile he gave was an apologetic one. "Anyway, since you're here voluntarily I'll pass it along if anyone asks."
The last question had him blinking between Melvin and Seren for a second, and almost right after she said it, he echoed, "No, just..." then he paused, not sure what to say next because the word "friend" had never once left his mouth since his elementary school days. "We kinda just look out for each other," he wound up saying, and very awkwardly at that. "'Cause who at Deus doesn't need that, right? But no, not dating."

Ain't no sunshineThe swim down to Atlantis this time around was considerably easier. No unseen hands waiting to drag him down, no overcast sky making the initial descent darker than it needed to be, and no storms to stir the currents. It was actually quite pleasant, and Zeke had taken his time, looked around a bit before coming up through the pool in the lobby. It was dim, lit only by the glow of runes carved into the walls, and now that he had the chance--now that his life wasn't in immediate danger--he headed towards one wall so he could get a better look. Tank, fins, and mask all left beside the pool he'd come in from. There was a bag laying there as well, a water proof diving back. Inside he'd packed snacks, but along with that there were a few bottles of soda, a thick notebook, a few pens and pencils, and some candles and matches. He hadn't known what Melvin might need, if any of it, or what kind of environment he was staying in, but he'd brought along what he thought he might want if their places had been reversed.

Is Wetter Better?"I'm glad things are normal for everyone for the most part. I still worry something like this might happen again, but if my time here can work to securing peace and building faith in Avalon, then maybe we'll finally have a few friends on our side for once." But like all powerful friends, they still had to worry. Atlantis had power. Even Creation could be easy set off as was proven on their visit there to resolve the artifact issue.
Seeing as he didn't get too much daily human interaction, he was less focused on work here and more on Joy. "How are people acting weird? Is anyone acting strangely to you?" He asked.

How are you Dewing"The greenhouse was more to see if plants were affected by the fear levels of Deus, but they seem to take no changes at all. While it's not mass producing, I do have a few vegetables and fruit trees in there. Flowers too because Rin always did like those. I just tend to kill half of the things if Noah isn't there to help. I've more or less given up on doing much aside from what I started doing and gave most of it to Noah at this point. We still have plenty of empty plots so I'd welcome anyone making use of it instead of the dirt just sitting there."
He smiled to Rhys. "Well, it was the combined effort of a lot of people to get the Sun back. I wouldn't even have gotten out to the water without everyone and a lot of people got sent to the infirmary. I was hoping to celebrate with them and give them a pizza party for their hard work, but by now probably everyone is out of the infirmary and out doing their own thing. I can only send them my thanks when I get back or whoever shows up here."
"Yeah, no ramen. I don't actually get to cook much here at all. Rations and dried foods are safest." He whispered a bit. "I think it's whatever got lost out to sea on crates or something."
"It's....a lot of salt." Spam wasn't exactly known for it's health benefits, and cold spam wasn't ideal. He ate a lot more of the fish and dried fruit.
At their shared confusion, he waved his hand to dismiss the question. "Sorry. I just - whenever people look out for one another - I just...well Deus has a way of making friends quickly hook up. A lot of the time when I see people together, they are usually already an item. I just assumed....but yes! Friends are valuable here. You always need someone looking out for you on and off missions." He glanced at Seren, having not caught what she mouthed but knew she had muttered something under her breath.

The door opened with all the finesse of a ancient carved door could, and while a gleaming city of gold would be shinning through, it was still pitch dark back there and left nothing for the eyes to settle upon aside from the white-streaked haired blonde with what looked like a blanket over his shoulders. His figure was the same as it had been during the mission, though now he wasn't wearing his diving suit. Instead he had a long sleeve shirt and jeans - thanks to the help of asking for some of his clothes be brought down to him.
Looking at Zeke, he smiled. "Hey." His eyes glanced to the gave walls. "Pretty intricate, isn't it. There are a lot of carvings and runics here I've never seen before." The gates closed behind him as he walked over.

She gave a small smile, shrugging at the thought, looking a little distant and pensive. Rhys's gentle squeezes did have her relaxing again, as she realized that while he might have been upset, he wasn't going to yell at her for coming down here alone. She listened to the rest of it, and nodded a little, taking note of the comments about the foods he was getting, and would not be able to use, either. "Mmm sounds like you're not getting a lot of vegetables, then..." She commented in an almost absent tone, trying to think of a way to get some of those down here next time she came. She gave Melvin a weak smile, and shrugged, clearly not knowing enough about Deus yet to really have an opinion on that, other then her opinions on her own life, and the effect on her. "Nothing to be sorry for, I suppose it's perfectly natural, at least to some degree?" She sounded unsure but not bothered, though she did sigh a little for a moment, then dregged up a smile more like the one she normally wore. "But yes, it's nice to have some one who I know I can trust at my back, which... is better then some of the people I've met." Her eyes rolled a moment, thinking of some of the people she'd met.

Seeing Melvin give credit back to the others was comforting, though he still felt like the guy deserved most of the credit. He didn't push his opinion though, and just nodded. "I know some pretty good chefs around," he said, giving Seren a good squeeze on the shoulder, "we could maybe plan some kind of a party thing for when you get back?" A good chance to gather and celebrate the sun's return when everyone was back on the island, too. "Y'know, three parties rolled into one. Welcome back for you, thank you for everyone else, and kinda a 'Whoo! The ********' sun is back!' for all of us kinda thing."
Rhys made some mental notes about other snacks he could bring down, too, maybe fresh fruit and more jerky for next time. And more magazines. When the topic of friends came up he kind of nodded. The word still made him hesitate so he really never used it for himself. Seren's thoughts mirrored his own, so he just nodded along and, when he saw his chance, jumped to change the subject.
"So you're here to learn from them or somethin', right? Anything you can share that could maybe help us on the surface?"

ForgivenessMelody was quiet for a moment as she looked Melvin over, making sure internally it was truly him before offering a light smile in earnest. He seemed unharmed and clean despite his given circumstances, "Hey..." She still did look concerned though, her eyebrows scrunched up. "They treating you okay? Any idea when they'll be letting you head back?"

Ain't no sunshine The sound of the gates, and then Melvin's voice, was enough to drag Zeke's attention from the carvings on the wall, and he turned with a small smile, hands dropping to his sides. "Oh good, still alive." It was a joke, of course. If the now Life had suspected Melvin had been immediate and life threatening danger when Atlantis had requested he stay behind, he'd have put up a fight to make sure the blonde came home with them. "So you don't know what they mean, yet?" A small wave inditaced the wall, the runes, and he glanced up at them again, before pale eyes returned to Melvin. More seriously this time. "How are you, is everything going alright?"

"It's a completely different language and I'm not exactly being tutored here in the 2 weeks I've been here." He smiled as he looked up at the ruins. "I'm still piecing little things as I go, but there is too much to do to ask too much." More that he couldn't ask too much. He was here to work, take orders, and to let Soarca use him as much as possible.
"I'm fine. Good. Eat. Work. Sleep. No one here to cause issues or prevent me from doing anything. Just me and Atlantis." And no one else. He was far away from everything. From everyone. From his life. From his problems.
"Surprised you showed up after last we really spoke."

Forgiveness"I can come back when I want. I just want to work here as long as I can. Atlantis needs help, and they do not trust anyone else right now to do it. The longer I'm here, the better I prove Avalon is on their side. They treat me nicely and kindly, and my needs are provided for. I even have my own suite." It was just quiet. It was just dark. It was just distant.

"I don't hate you," Melody replied with almost shock in her voice that he'd even think that. "I just don't like what you did. There's a difference." She seemed to look off and then perk up with a sudden realization. "Wait. Does that mean you hate me?" She felt immediately flustered and fidgeted with the bag she brought.
