Most of it had been him being skittish and trying to move too quickly, or his muscles just adjusting to working, or him forgetting how to move parts of himself. But, he’d gotten better. Julian could, too.
“Practice will help, just don’t push yourself too hard.”
Which was what he was worried about doing here, now. He knew that talking had been overwhelming for him at first, even with people he knew and trusted. With a stranger? Evan would have had to hide for a few hours to recuperate after a conversation this long.
He didn’t want to rush things, but he picked up the cupcake and took a large bite. He had barely tasted it before he was commenting that it was delicious and thanking Julian for sharing.
He chewed and swallowed and then asked, “Can I drop by again in a little bit, when I get some things together? I can text before I come over, to make it’s okay. But, uhm—if there’s anything you have questions about, or if you think of anything you need, you let me know, okay? Delilah sounds great and like she’s really trying to help so I am really happy you have her to support you but,” he hesitated and then shrugged. He wasn’t an expert by any means, but they had enough in common that he wanted to be some sort of support system if he could help it. “I just want you to know that I’m happy to talk, any time. Or if you need help, or just want company, or anything.”
