"You can do this, Seren," Joy assured the younger Sun before the Moon took up her position and smashed away at the tendril of sludge that shot out to strike at Rhys.

He started to understand what Joy meant when she told him to find better teammates, though again he had to defend the ones he'd come here with the first time--they split up so neither knew that he needed help until after they found him passed out. With the two defending, he could focus more on just getting hits in.
So because he knew they had his back he jumped in and dodged as best as he could, still taking a nick to his arm after cutting into the Cloud again.

Seren was paying attention, and nodded at Joy's words. She COULD do this, and it meant the world to her to be able to aid in defending the ma... Rhys. She focused on the damn Cloud thing, and when it made another move for him, she slashed out with her sword, swatting the tendril or whatever it was, knocking some of it back. Joy would be right there providing back up to Seren, keeping and eye out for both her squad mates.

With the two defending him, Rhys felt the risk of using his new skill was well worth it. As soon as he heard that familiar crackle he jumped straight at the Cloud, strategy almost entirely abandoned for the sake of hacking as much away as he could with that one strike. And he did manage to get a really good hit in, though it was at the expense of Zephira's attack biting back at him in the process.
"I'm okay," he said as he staggered back, gritting his teeth. There was a bit of smoke rising from his body, and he felt a bit of her lightning-y fear still sending mini-jolts through his body. "Mostly. Still in one piece, anyway."

Her eyes widened as she saw Rhys' charge go off, and she couldn't help but worry about her friend, and the damage it had done to him. However, they were in combat, so all she could do was snarl, a little fiercely, "You damn well better be..." As she slashed her sword up to intercept another bit of nasty from the cloud-thing. "I'm good," he said as he hacked away at the Cloud some more. It seemed like it was getting irritated, and it started leaking black goo from all over and just looked...generally very wrong. If it weren't for the two defending him he'd probably be a little extra nervous.

"Stay that way, please..." She said, quietly. It was all that mattered to her right now, was that Rhys stayed ok. Joy didn't know how tough this thing was. She didn't know much of what it could really do, if there were any after-effects of getting struck by the thing. But she kept her focus on it, and while the runes in her weapon were glowing and ready to be unleashed, she would wait her turn.

"If either of you got charged," he said while sidestepping and slashing away at the Cloud as best he could, "lemme know? I'll switch out."
Rhys pulled back, gritting his teeth at the Cloud as it approached with intent to take its vengeance on his attacks very, very clear. "Just thinking, the faster we get rid of this thing...the less chance we'll walk outta here with freakish movin' bruises."

She slashed at some of the stuff trying to come after Rhys, a glower for the Black Cloud on her face as she did so. She frowned a little, after, at Rhys' words. "I do, but I'm not sure it's the most useful... It heals me, rather then doing extra damage... If Joy's is ready and a good damager, perhaps she should step up?" "Freakish moving bruises?" Joy grinned, "That sounds like it's right up my alley." And since Seren sounded confident in the Intermediate Moon's abilities, Joy took on a more aggressive stance with her weapon.
There was no sense of impatience from Bert, strangely enough he had all the time in the world when it came to waiting for the right moment to strike. The runes of the bladed shovel glowed as Joy leapt towards the creature, slicing at it less with balletic grace and more with vicious savagery.

"Yeah, this thing gave me one. Had to get it extracted. Not...fun."
His expression deadpanned at the obvious statement, and when he saw Joy step forward he glanced over at Seren. "Go for it if you've got it, I got you." Though he expected the transition to defending would be an odd one, but it was practice to fill any and all rolls as a Mist hunter so it was a challenge gladly accepted.
Hopefully he managed to defend as well as she'd been doing so far.

Seren bit her lip for a second at Rhys' encouraging her to use her Charge, then nods, sliding forwards. "This takes a moment to get going... Not very spectacular, really... Once it's active, though, for somewhere between 1 and 3 hits after, I get some shield back from the damage I do..." She warned them. "Her runes will go back to dull once it's done..." She focused on her big a** blade, and the runes flickered a few times, then glowed BRIGHT as the Charge came online. HP: 27/40 Bite Result: Active 2 Turns, 25% of damage given healed. Charge: 0/3 Boss HP: 35/100
