Cirilla sighed and returned Eva's hug. "I guess food would be fine... but we have a lot to talk about. I got some great intel from one of the locals. But go on with what happened." Cirilla listened intently to Eva's story. It almost sounded like a set up, but Ciri was glad that Eva was okay, it was apparent from her stern expression softening. She even cracked a smile at the mention of the semen in the booth. "Okay so I met this local, kind of a hunk, but that's not important. Anyways he was telling me about the three main gangs who are operating within the WVP. You've got the Hóng Lóng, who are the big kahunas with ties to the Triads. Next in line there's the Sweepers, who apparently are using Lake Michigan for drug transport. At the bottom are Los Perros Locos, who are feuding with the Sweepers, and the streets are paying for it in the crossfire." Cirilla turned the page in her notebook. "He also knew a bit of information about the Merry Men, which was a bit suspicious to me. He said that in total there's about four or five of them and they usually hit the streets every other night. Their main targets are the gangs. Oh! I almost forgot something about the gangs. Apparently Captain Deacon Lynn is taking bribes from them, he's kinda the source of all the corruption within the precinct. Anyways... remember that hooker? She said that the Merry Men were going to patrol at ten pm tonight? That means the night after tomorrow they should be on the streets again, maybe we can get out there with some cameras and try and get some more info on the vigilantes." Ciri exhaled after she spewed all the information to Eva, excited for her reaction.

Eva rolled her eyes a bit at the “kind of a hunk” bit, but she was paying attention. Apparently, Ciri got the better end of the stick, and Eva probably should have tried to get in contact with the detective by other ways, instead of just going into the station, like phoning a friend to set up the meeting. While Ciri gathered, well, all that, Eva had gotten attacked. She had half a brain to call 911, but she would settle for contacting police she knew and trusted instead. At times like this, she was glad to not be broke. As corrupt as the cops were, she had a lawyer, a damn good one at that, and she was not afraid to sue the living s**t out of the guy who attacked her. Ciri could give her own account on what she saw to help prove her case, so—aside from that—Ciri was the star of their night. “I should have just gone with you,” she teased. Really, a world of “what if” had Eva just decided to ask more people around. “And you got all this from one guy? Damn, you’re lucky. I’ll get our boys to verify the info, and we can get a crew going to try and catch them in action.” She figured that the person who gave Ciri the info didn’t want to have their identity exposed, so the information just needed some additional research to make sure it was legit, at least the names and gangs.

Cirilla closed her notebook and put it away in her bag. "Yeah it was indeed a lot of info... that's why I'm a bit suspicious of the local. But I gave him my card so hopefully I can get a call... regarding more information of course." She laughed and pulled out her sign language book. "I'm glad you're okay though... I am a bit curious though. Did you see those wet prints in the alley? I should have snapped a picture of them. They were rather interesting looking." Her head raced trying to connect the dots, but they weren't clear at all.

“Eh, you’re easy on the eyes, he’ll call back—for info, of course,” she said, nudging Ciri’s shoulder before the super-linguist continued talking, this time mentioning the prints. It prompted a slightly embarrassed laugh from the reporter, who began scratching her head as if she were about to give a funny explanation. “Yeah, about that…those were probably mine. Did they look like a retarded bear was dancing? I was grabbed, and I ended up doing a goofy little twirl into a puddle. I ran off with dinosaur steps before regaining my footing, so there’s that.” At least her shoes were clean enough; she would have definitely sued like mad if her shoes got messed up. With that out of the way, she was glad to change the subject for a bit. Obviously they’d review the info, though, hopefully with a plate of grub while they were at it. “Oh, and what’re you hungry for? You did some nifty sleuthing today, Detective Gardner. I owe you the choice on food tonight.”

Cirilla giggle at the nudge from Eva, which turned into an all out laughing session at Eva's explanation of the wet prints. "I guess not all information is valuable." She wiped away tears that formed from her laughs. "Oooo Detective huh? It does sound nice haha." She smirked to herself, knowing well what she was in the mood for. "You know originally I'd have said mexican.. but seeing how that might seem a bit tasteless in regards to Hunky McHunkerton I think we can settle on Italian. Pasta sounds good right about now anyways, and since you're paying I won't skimp on the endless breadsticks or salad." She patted Eva on the shoulder, excited for a free meal.

It was nice, really, a prolonged session of laughs, whether it was the person Ciri met and joked about, Eva’s unusual footprints when slipping, or the bucket loads of food Ciri would get to consume that night. It helped take Eva’s mind off her earlier “jogging session”, or the fact she’d have to go call her lawyer to sue the cop who attacked her. Either way, Ciri’s findings were sufficient for the night, and they had enough to type later, not to mention plans to go hunting vigilantes the night after. In the meantime, Eva would use her phone to compare their dining options, and after deciding on which place to visit, the two would be dropped off by Trevor. Trevor himself was vegan and preferred home-cooked meals, so there was no point trying to offer him some. Wherever they chose to ate, however, would be something poor Trevor would miss out on. The bright side of being famous was that Eva always got the best seats, since people wanted good reviews from celebrities, which meant Ciri would also enjoy the benefits of—for one—not waiting in a big-a** line.

Cirilla waved good-bye to Trevor as he dropped them off before excitedly entering the restaurant, ecstatic that because of Eva, they didn't have much of a wait. As they took their seats a waiter came to take their drink order, to which she asked for sparkling mineral water. "Sooooo fancy...". When the waiter came back to drop off the breadsticks, salad, and drinks, she happily dug in to the complimentary appetizers. She paused for a moment only to make her entree order; medium rare steak alfredo with gorgonzola, sundried tomatos, spinach, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. For being so small, she could definitely put away some food. "So are you okay Eva... I mean after that encounter you had. Must have been scary...." Cirilla looked over at her, obviously concerned.

It was oddly entertaining to watch Ciri eat; the food seemed to be vanishing before her eyes. Eva herself seemed to handle a breadstick, though the rest were all at Ciri’s mercy. Eva enjoyed food as much as the next woman, but she wasn’t quite as hungry. Her mind was on other things, like what the future had in store once they came back to West Valley Park.

                                                  User Image

Sooner or later, Ciri opened up the floor for conversation, asking Eva if she was okay. “You really think one guy could stop me?” she asked rhetorically. “I’m fine,” she said, waving it off. “Besides, you should be more worried about the other guy. I pepper sprayed him right in the eyes and kicked his balls,” she said, waving the olive toothpick in her right hand as a funny visual aid. “And I’m suing his a**, so I’m good. Why don’t you tell me about your mysterious contact from earlier? He didn’t want his identity outed, right? I can follow that rule; I still want to know about him, though.” While Ciri spoke, Eva would take the opportunity to eat her own food, listening intently. By now, Eva already gave Ciri a pretty good idea of what she had been up to.

Ciri shrugged and laughed at Eva's gestures. She sipped at her drink and thought about what she wanted to say about Danny. "Mmn... He's a mechanic, bilingual. About a foot taller than me, great smile." She smirked a bit as she pushed her food around with a fork. "Uhmm... I don't doubt he used to be involved in gang-related activity since he seemed to know a lot about it. But then again he said he had lived there for a long time. He also said he didn't know much about Patrick Morse. Could be a lie, could be the truth. He told me this story about how some reporter was sneaking around too much with the cops and ended up dead in the garbage. So that's why I freaked out so bad." She took another sip of her drink before eating some more of her food.

“Yeah, the dead reporter, Caleb Kelly? Caleb Cooke? I can’t even remember the guy’s name, but that’s why we got the job.” While there was mild wariness of why she got sent where someone else ended up dead, the task was in good hands. Eva’s way of doing things was dangerous, but it yielded results, stuff people wanted to see and know about. It worked out for the best, she believed. “As for Patrick, the area’s got a bad track record with cops, so I guess I can understand why your guy wouldn’t really trust the idea of any cops being legit.” Given her recent experience, she could especially understand the skepticism about cops. However, she wouldn’t be so quick to judge against Det. Morse, since the man she encountered today wasn’t him, just someone lying about letting her meet him. At the least she would have the Detective’s attention now. With her words finished for the time, she began to work on her food so Ciri could speak.

After consuming what seemed like an endless amount of food, Cirilla leaned back in the booth and rubbed her tummy a bit. "Oh man... pure satisfaction over here." She laughed a bit at herself. "So what's the game plan for the night after tomorrow? It might be better if we keep it small. For stealth or whatever. The masks might not be too fond of a swarm of press trying to bombard them." She thought a moment. WVP is pretty sizable, they'd have to find out where the vigilantes are going to be, which means they'd have to get some information on criminal activity. Even then it could be a hit or miss. Informants can always be sneaky little bastards with leading information to distract the press from the bigger happenings.

Eva chuckled at the sight. “Oh, Ciri, never change…” she said, entertained by Ciri’s appetite. Of course, there was also tomorrow’s plans that Ciri brought up directly after. “I’m sure a small camera crew will do, a dozen at most, and roll in around nine o’clock. We’ll find them; I’ve got a good feeling about tomorrow. We’ll just need to get lucky with a trouble spot and go to wherever everyone’s running away from.” It was normal for them now, going wherever was dangerous and unruly, because that’s where the story was. As reasonable as it was to do the opposite, a journalist’s life—especially one like theirs—meant being a little unreasonable and reckless to grab the audience’s attention. In this case, they needed to entice viewers/readers with footage about the mysterious vigilantes that protected WVP. Of course, she was no stranger to heroes either. And just last month, she’d spent time with a certain famous superhero who flew around with his pretty green eyes and gold cape, not to mention took the media by storm when passerby had photos of the hero carrying her in flight, so now she was hero hunting again.

Cirilla smiled when Eva asked her to never change. "Roger that boss." She listened intently to Eva's suggestions, nodding at some points. "I have my own camera so we don't have to worry about getting too many on the streets. And it's not tomorrow night. It's the night after." Ciri gently reminded Eva, knowing that Eva's mind went a million miles a minute. "Tomorrow we might have to get a hold of some contacts to see exactly where the action is. Maybe if I'm lucky then hunky grease monkey will give me a call and I can try to get some more information from him. He seems to have a plethora of it." She looked at her phone for a moment to check if she had any messages. Just in case. "So I was browsing some files on your desk... why don't you tell me about the green eyed wonder who seemed to literally swoop the notorious Eva Allen off of her feet?" A sly grin came over her face accompanied by a raised eyebrow. It definitely caused a stir in the office.

As soon as she realized she said the wrong time, she facepalmed. “I’m a dumbass, the night after tomorrow, I mean. When I say camera crew, I don’t mean just for our little hunt. It’s probably going to be us three once we figure out where to look, but we need some guys getting general footage of the area. Obviously that part is too boring for us to do, so that’s why they’re doing it.” It was just to get generic footage of the norm around the area, that which was apparent, whereas she and her partner-in-crime would go for the juicier bits. After all, she preferred to be doing the exciting parts herself, instead of having some mob of journalists doing it for her. When the conversation transitioned to her own experience with a caped dreamboat, she welcomed the change of pace. “Oh, Golden Boy?” she asked rhetorically, using her nickname for the hero. Her article about him really turned the public opinion to adore him even more, which spoke volumes about how much influence she had as a journalist, something she used responsibly to draw attention to what really needed it. Her endearing article about the heroic Mr. Invincible II easily made the front page and caused plenty of controversy. The article described the experience; Mr. Invincible had rescued her from a sour encounter with a mob boss, only for the two to work together and stop an illegal transaction in West Valley Park soon after. The media entertained the idea of a budding romance, but she acted very ambiguous on it as to keep everyone wondering. “Well, I’ll let you in on a secret. You know how everyone thought I was either pushed or tripped off the roof? Yeah, that was bullshit, I did that on purpose. He was…unamused, but hey, it made sure he didn’t ditch me when I told him I wanted to come along to stop the drug trade.” After all, she got some pretty interesting footage of the men surrendering as a result of convincing him to let her come along. “Anyway! He flew me home, too. The city at night; flying really is the way to see it, but let’s be serious, the city was not what I was looking at. I mean, holy s**t, he’s gorgeous. So help me, God, I do not want to be every other fangirl who gets the hots for a caped superhero, but he is fine.” The shots people had of him from a distance did not do his face justice, the 6’ 3” hunk was more than meets the eye. She thought his eyes were blue at first, given a lot of people hadn’t even seen them up close, but the green was from closer inspection. He had a square face with a very clear jawline, having been clean-shaven. His best feature was his smile, however. That experience where people saw him carrying her wasn’t even the last time they worked together. Mr. Invincible II, Silent Knight II, and Eva Allen had gotten footage of a mysterious mutant doppelganger who—despite being comparatively less attractive to the original—had many of the same strengths in power before eventually being defeated. It drew some controversy over the idea of some unknown villain making evil clones, but that was a conversation for another time. Eva was perfectly satisfied with the vision of a dreamboat in costume.

Cirilla nodded at the explanation of the crew from Eva before her attention was turned to Eva acting like a schoolgirl ogling the quarterback. She wasn't surprised at Eva's reckless behavior, in fact it was rather endearing. Ciri smiled at the thought of flying over the sky and tried to stifle a laugh at Eva's infatuation. "Seems like we both found a dream boat to sail through our wet dreams." She giggled a bit. "At least I know they aren't the same person. Hunky McHunkerton has brown eyes, and when the sun hit them just right, they were this honey amber. Totally swoon-worthy. But I had to stay professional." She stirred her straw in her drink. "So... do you know his secret identity?" Ciri prodded with questions, wondering if him dropping her off at home was the end of the night or if there was something more.
