[Spike]
It was a trivial matter for Sunil and Zayne to slip out of the house and head to the nearest pet store, which Sunil had looked up in a phonebook. She was especially pleased to have finally managed to get Zayne to leave Ruya behind, instead of dragging the bloom around everywhere with her and showing it to people who had no idea what the little girl was talking about. It was worrying Sunil that once again she would be left out and Ruya would be the one who got along better with their bond. Not that she really gave a ********, but it was important to keep up appearances. Or so she was learning from Zayne.
The money for their little trip had been stolen from Kam under the guise of needing money for some sort of doll Zayne just had to have. The whole thing had involved a great deal of 'pleases' and has ended in Zayne's favor when Kam got a rather sudden nosebleed and had to leave the room. It was odd for Sunil to look into the eyes of the woman she had been bonded with and feel like not only did she look like s**t, but she didn't even look like she recognized Sunil.
A small walk later, the duo arrived at the pet store and Sunil took refuge on the back of Zayne's neck, hidden behind the girl's curtain of hair. She had tried, on the trip over, to impress upon Zayne that normal people didn't generally believe in fairies - but she wasn't sure whether it had made an impression. Zayne seemed to be more concerned with how heavy everything would be to take home. (This ended up not being a problem, as she managed to sweet talk one of the employees into walking them home.)
As soon as they found the reptile section and a helpful employee in what Sunil and Zayne later agreed was a ridiculous uniform, they didn't have any difficulty obtaining a chameleon and all the requisite supplies. Including, to Zayne's hidden glee, a cage of live crickets.

[Spike, Part 2] Playing with Spike soon became Zayne's favorite past time. As events in the rest of the household spiraled slowly out of control, she simply ceased leaving her room for anything but the occasional morsel of food. Instead she spent her days scribbling in what appeared to be an endles supply of notepads stashed under her bed and playing with her favorite toy.
Sunil wasn't sure what it was that Zayne found so alluring about playing with a lizard, especially since she had to give the damn creature a wide berth - but the girl was obsessed with taking it around her room and watching it slowly adjust it's color to the new environment.
Sunil wasn't afraid of very many things - and would probably said she was afraid of nothing if you asked her - but she made herself scarce during feeding time.
The first couple feeding sesions hadn't been particularly bad. In fact, the feien was in complete agreement with her bond about the fun of feeding helpless, mindless insects to the gluttonous lizard. The crickets had no idea to what fate they had been born and listening to the sound of their tiny exoskeletons crunching in the chameleon's jaws gave her a tiny shiver.
The shiver was the sort of feeling you get while watching a lion rip apart its prey on TV. You would be terrified to be the prey, but realize how exhilerating it would be to be the predator - to prove your superiority over another in such a total and undeniable fashion.
The problem for Sunil was that this sort of feeling only applied when you felt a greater feeling of kinship with the predator than the prey. When Zayne decided to start feeding flies and dragonflies to the chameleon, Sunil felt a bit of a twinge - but she held up. When Zayne decided that it was more fun to cripple the bugs by ripping their wings off first, Sunil decided to start making herself scarce.
The few times the feien had ventured closer than a foot away, the chameleon had regarded her with a very distrubing look. There was just something about it's eyeballs that bothered her - as if its mind had identified her as large prey - and so she disappeared about a half hour before "feeding time" like clockwork. She wasn't sure whether Zayne noticed her absence from the little torturing sessions, but if she did the girl didn't say anything. Sunil certainly wasn't going to bring it up. As long as she still had wings, she was safe from both little monsters - girl and lizard.

[BBQ Secrets] "Oh, I don't think that wouldbe a good idea at all," Zayne said, shaking her head in mock sadness.
She reached out a hand for Sunil to step up onto. Sunil accepted the platform with an unusual amount of graciousness, having learned from experience that Zayne was best when allowed to play her little games. She didn't have wings and therefore Sunil was not supposed to fly too much in her presence.
"It simply wouldn't be nice," Zayne continued, lifting Sunil up onto the shoulder opposite Spike. The feien gave the lizard a warning look and sidled over to the farthest edge of her bond's shoulder. "I wouldn't want Ruya to be gossiped about by people who couldn't possibly be AS GOOD AS SHE IS."
Sunil grabbed onto the soft yellow fabric of Zayne's sundress to stop herself from pitching off the girl and into the now firmly shut window. Something about the situation with Ruya appeared to have touched a raw spot for Zayne. Sunil was beginning to think it was impossible to avoid doing this at least once a week.
"I didn't think of that," the feien lied, not bothering to even inflect her voice properly. She and Zayne both knew she had wanted to cause trouble for Ruya and pretending otherwise made no sense to Sunil. She still had no idea why Zayne seemed so attached to the inactive bloom. Or why she seemed to drag it around with her everywhere and show it to everyone.
"It's ok," Zayne said, placatingly. She reached up a hand and stroked Spike's back. "But I'll have to punish you anyway."
Sunil glared into the stupid lizard's eyes and resisted the urge to swear.
"Of course you will."

Zayne's Personal Journal [Lillian Sweeps In] "This is highly irregular," Lillian said, pressing her lips firmly together in a way that perfectly conveyed her opinion on irregular events. She looked again, carefully, at the scrap of paper in her hand and then reached out to press the doorbell firmly. "You will allow me to do the talking."
This last comment was directed to the slightly subdued looking young woman at Lillian's side. Despite the reprimanding tone of the comment, the young woman replied with a bright smile.
"Yes, Aunt Lillian!"
The brightness of the reply only caused Lillian to press her lips more firmly together and she reached out to push the doorbell again, longer this time. The sound of the bell ringing inside the house could be heard echoing around in the emptiness - but no one answered. After several minutes of fidgeting, the girl at Lillian's side looked up at her companion in askance.
"Maybe we have the wrong address," she suggested, glancing around the neighborhood. "I could go ask around!"
"You will do no such thing," Lillian admonished. "We have the correct address. Our instructions were to collect the girl and that is what we will do."
The older woman looked down at the doorknob as she finished speaking. It had begun to turn and the door cracked open to reveal a pair of very wide purple eyes partially hidden by a veil of wavy black hair.
"Zayne," Lillian said, firmly pushing the door open. "It is rude to make people wait on the doorstep."
The young girl behind the door backed away as the door was pushed open and placed her hand on the handle of a cage covered in black cloth. Arrayed around the young girl were several small suitcases which undoubtably contained the entirety of her possessions.
Alena couldn't help but feel sorry for the waif-ish looking child and she knelt in front of the girl.
"Why are you so sad, child?"
This earned her a sharp look from Lillian and a glare from Zayne.
"I told you that I would do the talking," Lillian said, firmly grasping Alena by the shoulder and forcing her to stand. "The child is wearing black, which should answer your question. Make yourself useful Alena and grab her bags. We will leave for the estate immediately."
Alena gave a little gasp at the pain in her shoulder as she was abruptly righted, but said nothing. She nodded to Lillian's command and picked up the nearest of Zayne's small suitcases. She tried to reach out for the cage, but the girl clutched it even tighter to herself. Cringing at how inept she felt, Alena quickly swept the bags out the door and left Zayne and Lillian alone.
This gave Lillian a chance to speak her mind.
"It is highly irregular for me to take in a child of your age and reputed temperment. I owe your... mother... so I will house you and school you, but under my roof you will live by the rules that I set out. If you cannot live with that then I will be forced to find less pleasant environs for you. Do I make myself clear?"
Zayne looked down at the ground and didn't reply. Her dress slowly shifted from black to an indeterminate color that seemed to fade into the shadows behind her. Before she could complete the transformation, Lillian knelt down and slapped her.
"I do not like people who feel sorry for themselves. You will conduct yourself with whatever dignity you can muster. You will answer any questions that I ask of you and you may address me as 'Aunt Lillian'. Is that clear?"
Zayne looked back up with Lillian with wide, shining eyes. This trick didn't seem to have the desired effect and the girl dropped her face towards the large cage clutched to her chest.
"Yes, Aunt Lillian."
From her position around the back of her bond's neck and behind her hair, Sunil peered out at this 'Aunt Lillian' and wondered what exactly she and Ruya were in for now.

Zayne's Personal Journal [A New House] After the girl named Alena had swept all of Zayne's luggage out of the house and into the waiting car (with the notable exception of Spike's cage, which Zayne refused to give up) - Lillian swept Zayne out of the house and into the car as well.
It was the last time any of them would ever see it standing.
"Come along, child." Lillian said, placing her hand behind Zayne's head and pushing her - not gently - into the large dark car idling in the street. It was a very unpleasant sensation for Sunil, who already felt like she was being suffocated by Zayne's thick and curly hair. And so, perhaps unwisely, the feien made her presence known by biting one of Lillian's gloved fingers. The bite couldn't have hurt very much, but it definately displeased the severe older woman.
"And what do we have here?" She asked, snatching a struggling Sunil and ripping her out of a knot of Zayne's hair. To her credit, Zayne simply turned around and cooly replied to the angry query. On other occasions having her hair pulled would have reduced her to angry screams, which would not have kept Sunil from being squished unceremoniously.
"Aunt Lillian, that is my fairy Sunil."
Lillian raised an eyebrow at Sunil's angry and garbled obscenities and then chose to ignore the fairy.
"She appears too small to be useful and sounds too vulgar to be an appopriate companion for a young lady. Appearances, Zayne, are very important. It would not do for us to attract attention from the wrong people."
"Let me go you stupid old hag!" Sunil yelled. When Zayne gave her a look, she grinned and amended her request to, "Let me go you stupid old hag, PLEASE."
Zayne giggled, even as Lillian sneered, but then collected herself long enough to probably save Sunil a lot of trouble.
"You can't get rid of her. Sunil and I are bonded, so she has to stay near me."
This piece of information didn't please Lillian, but she did release Sunil. And then wiped her gloved hand on the outside of her dark pinstriped skirt before adjusting her hat.
"Very well, although I expect Sunil to live by the same rules you will in my house. Children - and their companions - are to be seen and not heard."
With that said, Lillian guestured to some anonymous servant and the car door was closed - almost on Sunil's wings.
The ride to their new house was vaguely unpleasant, although not uncomfortable. Sunil wanted to know what was going on and Zayne didn't appear to want to speak about it.
"You packed everything up last night," the feien pointed out angrily. "You knew someone was coming to get us today. What is going on?"
With a sigh, Zayne relented. Listening to the same question repeated for 20 mins was wearing her out.
"Mother told me that she and Chandra were leaving and that I would be going to live with someone else. If you had bothered to look you would have noticed that the house was completely empty this morning except for my room."
Zayne pulled up one corner of the black cloth covering Spike's cage and peered in at him.
"We've been abandoned?" Sunil asked, rather confused by this turn of events. She had noticed the house seemed quiet, but everyone just leaving the house?
Zayne stuck in a finger and stroked Spike's head for a couple minutes before he moved away from her. When Sunil had finally given up on receiving a response and settled in to looking out at the passing houses, Zayne gave Sunil the final piece of information - which raised more questions than it truly answered.
"They're all dead," she answered calmly. "Mother told me they would be and I believe her."
In the end, however, Sunil reflected that the fate of Chandra and Kam didn't really matter very much. What mattered was that once again she and Ruya were being packed off somewhere strange without once being consulted.

[The Cupcake Fiasco] Although Sunil had wished to be sick all over Zayne at the time, she hadn't really expected the cupcake to have any effect on her at all. And when the rest of the day had passed in a blur of happiness and relaxation, Sunil felt that she had been correct. In fact, every thought she had for the rest of the day after the cupcake seemed correct. And everything she did seemed to result in better than expected results.
In her own mind, Sunil was the best, most wonderful, happiest feien in the entire world - and beloved of all who encountered her. She felt like a benevolent dictator, giving out carefully chosen morsels of advice so that those not as fortunate as her could learn from her experiences.
To everyone else she was even more of a pain in the a** than usual.
Zayne giggled at most of what she said, which encouraged her - but Lillian had to physically stop herself from smacking Sunil into the nearest wall on at least three notable occasions. (Or at least the three occasions on which Lillian and Sunil were within the same wing of the mansion.) Alena seemed torn between giggling along with Zayne and her own sense of annoyance at Sunil's insistence on "helping" with whatever Alena was doing. Eventually she simply suggested that Zayne and her feien head out to the gardens for some fresh air.
Out in the gardens, Sunil felt even more alive and at peace. At some point she felt so at peace, she simply fell asleep half-immersed in a fountain.
When she woke up the next morning, she didn't feel paricularly well - nor could she quite pinpoint why she had chosen to sleep in a puddle of water. She adapted to the situation with her usual good grace, climbing out of the fountain to stand on it's edge, shaking, and screaming at the top of her lungs.
"What the ******** felt good to yell, so she continued - not even bothering to make sure her words strung together to make sentences. It was suddenly just very important to her that she get someone's attention so she could make them feel as miserable as she did.
Later in the day, still shaking, and covered in feien-sized blanket temporized out of a washcloth, Sunil continued her whining in the middle of Zayne's bed.
"I just want some SUGAR!" She insisted, throwing off the blanket in annoyance and then snatching it back up. "And I want to stop the shaking. The shaking is driving me INSANE. Make it stop!"
She threw herself face down into the bed and let it bounce her back up.
"I just want something sweet. Something yummy. Something soft and fluffy that I can RIP INTO."
Zayne favored Sunil with a look of pity that would normally have silenced the feien, but which she now ignored in favor watching herself wringing her hands.
"I don't think you need more sugar," Zayne said, speaking quietly in an effort to get Sunil to do the same. "I think you're sick. You shouldn't have slept in the fountain last night."
"THEN WHY DID YOU LET ME?" Sunil said, wild-eyed and fluttering around Zayne's head suddenly before dropping like a stone onto a nearby surface and crumpling up. "God, I'm so stupid and horrible. Do you think I'm being punished?"
Zayne wasn't sure quite how to respond to this outburst, but continued trying to lead by example - speaking slowly and carefully.
"Punished for what?"
"For being mean," Sunil sobbed, curling even further in on herself. "I feel so empty and no one likes me and even you hatemeIdon'tknowwhattodo." The feien trailed off into convulsions, which Zayne didn't want to get close enough to identify as crying or more shakes.
"You're not mean," her bond said generously. "You're just feeling sick. It'll be better if you just get some sleep."
But Zayne was wrong.

[The Cupcake Fiasco, Part Two] Sunil not only didn't get better, she got much, much worse. When Zayne went to sleep, the dark blue feien was quietly huddled in a shuddering heap under a large pile of blankets. The hope was that perhaps Sunil would "sweat" out her problems. When Zayne woke up, however, Sunil had shredded every piece of paper in the room and had gotten stuck underneath the door - trying to get back into the room.
"Letmeout. LETMEOUT. Letmeout. LETMEOUT."
As she struggled to awakening, Zayne thought perhaps she was hearing an alarm clock - with the alternating quieter and louder tones. But then as she sat up, she realized it was actually Sunil, who was speaking so quickly as to be unintelligible.
"What?" Zayne said, surveying the little piles of paper and kleenex strewn all over the dark purple carpet. "What has gotten into you?"
"LETMEOUTLETMEOUTETMEOUT."
For something so small, Sunil had a very large voice and it wasn't long before someone came running and shoved the door open.
This was a very bad idea.
Sunil was, luckily, face down but the impact still knocked her out cold.
"What is the meaning of this?" Lillian said, standing in the doorway in her dressing gown. "I believe I said that children should be seen and not-" She looked down as Zayne pointed at her feet.
"Sunil was stuck under the door."
Alena ventured a glance around the doorframe in back of Lillian, a couple tendrils of long blonde hair slipping out of a messy ponytail.
"Aunt Lillian?" She said quietly, hesitating.
Lillian simply sighed, crossed her arms over her chest, and turned to glare at Alena. Visibly nervous, Alena blurted out her message very quickly.
"The cook says someone broke into the pantry and stole a bunch of sugar and baked goods. Including Max's morning croissants."
Sunil took this time to wake up. Putting a hand to the back of her head, she popped bak up to her feet with a bit of flight magic. Her control was shaky though and she overcompensated, backing into Lillian's slippers.
"What the ********?" The little feien squeaked as she turned on Lillian's slippers and slapped at them. "You wanna fight? Huh? Well I don't give a ********." Then she whirled around on Zayne, pointing one accusatory figure in the general vicinity of her bond, but clearly unable to focus properly. "YOU! You gave me the first cupcake. I need MORE. MORE CUPCAKES!" She clapped her hands together pre-emptorily. "TOUT SUITE!"
A moment of silence settled over the room as the three humans stared at Sunil in confusion. It was broken by the arrival of a harried looking maid.
"Letter for Sunil?" She asked, curtseying to Lillian.
Lillian reached out to snap up the letter, but Sunil beat her to it - clutching the letter to her chest and zipping down the hall before anyone could stop her.
"Mine, mine, mine." She called out as she disappeared out an open window. "No one can take what is mine. Thieves," she muttered, coming to a halt on the corner of the large garden fountain. Looking all around her to make sure no one was watching her, she ripped open the letter and read it hungrily.
When she had finished reading it twice, she dipped it into the water of the fountain and watched the writing disappear as the paper dissolved.
She coupld play the waiting game. Oh yes, oh yes - she could play this game. As long as she got her reward. Her precious.

Oh no, there was no way she was going to miss this appointment. She needed this. She had to have her reward. It was worth any cost. Any cost at all.
After having these sort of thoughts running through her mind all day, Sunil had almost felt relief when the clock at the Manor struck 2am. Almost. Really she felt a further coiling in her gut.
So close, so close. The minutes had seemed to drag on since then, but she didn't dare disobey the letter. Oh no, the letter had made promises and she needed to keep up her end. And so it was several minutes after 3 am according to the clock she could see on a nearby clocktower when Sunil made her way into the waiting room of the Feien HQ.
"Secretary's desk," she muttered to herself, flying haphazardly around the room. "Blotter pad, blotter pad."
Finally, she alighted nervously on a desk and began shuffling around. The edge, she had to find the edge to get underneath. She was sorely tempted to just scratch her way through the blotter pad to whatever was hidden underneath, but she didn't dare.
"Silence is key," she muttered. "Silence, shhhh! Don't want to share. No sharing. ALL MINE." She clapped a horrified hand over mouth so hard she bruised her already chapped lips. "Quiet, quiet." She shushed to herself as she got her hands on the side of the blotter and began to pull it up.Feien There was a bump under the blotter, where a clingfilm-wrapped piece of cupcake lay. With this was also a note. The Shabby Man Ms. Sunil, Here is some cupcake. You'll probably notice that it's not enough cupcake. I can get you more -- but first I need a favor. Get me one of Ms. Averno's pretty black curls and you'll have as much cupcake as your heart would ever desire. Put it right here under the blotter when you're done and draw a star on the blotter so that we can know you're finished. Won't that be fun? Just one curl, Ms. Sunil. Your friend, the Shabby Man There was nothing else. Oh god, a piece of cupcake! Sunil tore into the clingfilm, ripping it into tiny shreds which she carelessly flung all over the top of the desk.
When she had the piece of cupcake free of it's wrapping, she paused briefly to inhale the glorious scent before shoving the entire thing in her mouth. After several seconds of bliss, she took time to gather up every little crumb she could find and licked the clingfilm for good measure.
"Oh yes," she sighed, feeling just slightly better. The edge was off her craving. She could feel it somewhere in the background driving her, but it was no longer the only thing on her mind. Now she could read the accompanying note.
She had to read it several times before she felt she truly understood it and then folded it up to bring home with her. Now that she wasn't quite as out of it, she regretted destroying the first letter. With a couple glances around her, she took off into the night. She needed to make plans.

Stolen from Ice Queen.Ice Queen Quote: Silva slammed his fist into the buzzer, then headed up the stairs and to the waiting room of the shop, ignoring the two strung-out feien following him. He was far worse than they were. Soho glanced at the two males, then slipped away, heading for the lounge to see if there were any cupcakes hidden. Aleric wrapped his arms around his body, leaving Silva to do the hard part. "SHABBY!" Silva shouted. "Whoever the ******** you are, get your a** out here!" He shouted. His voice wasn't its usual calm, derisive tone. It was ragged and harsh, as if he wasn't quite in control of what he was saying. Sunil, who had been hiding in the shop in hopes of encountering Averno, jerked awake at the sound of voices. Her first panicked thought was that she was being attacked and she darted up in the air and basically slammed herself into the ceiling. It was lucky for her that she hadn't been straight in the first place, so all she really did was knock the wind out of herself. On the way back down, she took the time to note that she knew the feien who had interrupted her little nap. "Silva?" She questioned, her eyes wide. "Shhh~! Don't make the cupcake man mad." She put a finger to her lips to pantomime silence and then glanced around, clearly paranoid. <******** the cupcake man." Silva growled, turning to look at her. "You know him?" He asked, his mind going from drugged haze to normalacy, then back to haze. He rushed towards her, reaching for her neck. "Who is he?" He demanded. His eyes were bloodshot, and lacked the self-control that he usually had under the surface. Sunil was jumpy, but she wasn't co-ordinated. As Silva advanced, she darted - right into him. "I don't know. I don't know," she whispered. "But he controls the cupcakes. IF you make him mad, we might not get anymore cupcakes. I NEED CUPCAKES." And the thought of the last little bit of cupcake she had savored put Sunil out of the moment and into a little blissful memory. Her eyes glazed over and she shook a little. As close as she was he forgot about the throat and wrapped his arms around her, his hand twining through her hair and jerking her head so she was looking at him. "I said..." He growled, "******** the cupcake man. Look what he's done to us." "I need..." He stopped, shaking his head as his thoughts twisted. "I killed Nick, dammit... I killed him..." His grip loosened as depression overcame him. "s**t... I need more..." "I'm gonna get more!" Sunil blurted out and then bit her lip abruptly. It was tough not to say what was on her mind and the thought of more cupcakes was keeping her from curling into a ball again and just hoping for it all to end. So she put her hands against Silva's chest and shoved. "Let me go!" She glared at him. "I know you're just trying to steal my share of the cupcakes. They're for me. FOR ME! AND I AM NOT SHARING!" "I could just kill you, too." Silva said, a little smile playing on his lips as he ignored her shoving and played with her hair. "I could break your skinny little neck and then what would happen?" But would it get him more? And-- He paused, looking over her shoulder. "Ni--Nick?" He whispered. "I--I killed you..." "Go ahead," Sunil said, sounding resigned. Her body went limp and she hung her head. "It's probably all a lie anyway. If I had an unlimited supply of cupcakes I wouldn't give them up for something simple like a l-" She quickly shut up, but didn't perk up. Instead she put her arms around Silva and pulled herself up close to him. She was starting to feel cold and shaky again. The little cupcake from before had worked itself out in her system and she was slipping back into full-blown cravings. "Whoever Nick is," she said quietly, "at least he isn't beholden to some mysterious man for cupcakes. You don't eat when you're dead." "He's staring at me..." Silva said, only half hearing her words. He wrapped his wings around himself, and her, since he was still holding her. "Dammit, Nick... I didn't mean to... I could have..." He took a rasping breath, then shoved her away from him. "Don't touch me, dammit." He said, his eyes narrowing at her. "You're trying to use me, aren't you?" Sunil snorted and turned her back on Silva, wrapping her arms around herself and beginning to shake. "What for," she asked derisively. "You don't have anything I want." She turned around and made a face at him. "You're useless to me. You don't have any ******** cupcakes." And then while any other feien would have shut up, she continued - taking out her frustrations on Silva. "You're a moron, coming here and yelling for the shabby man. The biggest idiot I've ever met. He isn't going to give you cupcakes for nothing! You have to earn them, just like the rest of us. I bet you didn't even think of that, did you? You just thought you could come here and beat him up." She laughed bitterly and drew her legs up to her chest. "If you had half a brain you would realize that the cupcake man is probably wise to you. He isn't going to show himself. That's why he sends notes and leaves half a cupcake under the desk blotter in the middle of the night. He's smarter than you Silva. Not that that says much." "I'm going to kill him." Silva gritted out coldly. "And damn all the stupid ******** that are addicted. Including me." He was shaking, so he wrapped his wings around himself. "I should have died..." He went on, not really seeing her even though his eyes were focused on her. "A long time ago." He was... he was finally doing the one thing he feared. "Now I'm just like Snake..." He whispered, shaking hard. "I'm just... I'm just like Snake." "It's the... It's the cupcakes." Aleric whispered from where he was rocking on one of the chairs. "They're the thing that's... that's making us like this..." "No!" Sunil said, focusing on Aleric. "No." She shook a little as she let go of her legs. "It isn't the cupcakes making us like this. When you have the cupcakes you feel glorious." Her eyes glazed over in memory. "The cupcakes make you the best you can be. It's NOT having the cupcakes that makes us like this." She curled up again, tucking her chin into her chest like a child. "Don't you see? We're worthless without the cupcakes. We always were and we just never saw it. I don't know about the two of you, but I'm going to do exactly as the shabby man told me so I can get more of the cupcakes. He promised me as many as I WANT!" She took on a slightly crazed look. "If you'll promise me part of your share, maybe I'll ask the shabby man to give you guys tasks too." "It's... It's an addiction..." Aleric whispered. Then he grew angry. "And you can't HAVE MINE!" Silva was starting to sweat. His whole body was vibrating, he was shaking so hard. He needed to... he needed to HIT something. "Shut UP about the ******** CUPCAKES!" He bellowed, raising both hands to his face and clawing. "Fine," Sunil said, sounding reasonable for a moment. "I'll stop talking about them because I know I'm going to get more and you're not. I'm going to tell the shabby man not to give you any." She looked smug. "If you see the shabby b*****d..." Silva said, his eyes narrowed. "Tell him I'll be coming soon." He finished coldly. He looked around, seeing a still shaking Soho enter the room. "They aren't... they aren't there..." She whispered. "Why aren't they there? Maybe... maybe he hasn't seen it yet..." "We're leaving." Silva growled. Before he killed someone else... "What isn't there?" Sunil asked sharply. "Are you holding out on me?" She gave Ruby a sharp look. "You better not be holding out on me." "There's--there's nothing to hold out!" Soho wailed. "It's not there!" Tears were falling down her face. "Mister Silva Demon even killed Nick for it and it's NOT THERE!!" She wrapped her arms around her body and started wailing, not able to talk comprehensively. Sunil just stared at Ruby in shock for a moment. She had to be talking about cupcakes. Even Sunil's limited intellect could piece irrational behavior and raving together with cravings. "Were you promised cupcakes?" She asked, advancing on Ruby. She put her arms out to shake the other juvenile. Anything to get an answer. "Did the shabby man tell you he would give you all the cupcakes you could want?" "Ye--Yeeesss!!" She wailed. Then she hiccuped. "May--maybe I'm early..." She whimpered. "I said we're LEAVING." Silva growled. Aleric took to the air, almost falling since he was shaking so hard. "We'll... we'll figure something out." He said. "No!" Sunil said, grabbing onto Ruby. "No, you're not leaving." She didn't really have a plan, but something was forming. She just needed to concentrate a little harder. "Do you have a plan?" She yelled at Silva. "You don't, do you? You're just gonna let us all die of cravings while the shabby man laughs in some dark corner at how stupid we are." She shook Ruby, mostly because she herself was shaking. "The shabby man is playing with us and I don't ******** like it. I say we collaborate against him." "He's going to come after me sooner or later." Silva said, taking a deep breath. He turned to look at Sunil. "I never ate one of those damn cupcakes." "I--I fed him powder!" Soho wailed. "But there's no--there's no cupcakes..." "s**t." Sunil's face fell. Her only hope had been getting more cupcakes if she followed the directions on the letter from underneath the blotter. If Ruby had been promised cupcakes and then hadn't gotten any... "Maybe he's late in delivering the cupcakes," she said to Ruby, unsure. "Maybe they'll be delivered to your house?" But that didn't make any sense. To be honest, why would the shabby man give up cupcakes all at once when he could keep stringing them along like this? Oh dear, these were uncomfortable thoughts. Sunil let go of Ruby and started to cry herself. "But, but... why would someone do this to us?" "Because he's an evil sonuvabitch that likes watching me kill people." Silva said, his voice a raspy growl as he hugged himself again. "I'm already bad... what happens when I get worse?" He had almost killed Sunil just a few minutes ago... he had even been looking forward to it... "I need more... I need more of that s**t..." But he didn't want to. "I don't... I don't know." Soho whispered, oblivious to Silva's answer. "I did what he asked... where are they?" "Is he watching?" Sunil asked. But the answer to that seemed obvious. How else could he know how she coveted Averno's curls? How much she liked the way they curled and shined. "I'm sorry Ruby," she said to the other juvenile. "I hope he comes through - because if he didn't come through for you, he won't come through for me." This seemed hopeless and Sunil wrapped her arms even tighter around herself. "If he wanted to kill us, wouldn't he just have poisoned the cupcakes? This seems worse somehow. Like a test. How much can we take before we all snap?" The answer there seemed to not be very much and Sunil closed her eyes. She had to do what the note said and hope, but to be truthful she expected nothing but a slow lingering death from cravings. "Who the ******** says I haven't already?" Silva asked, watching as Nick waved at him from behind Sunil's back. He couldn't even get worked up about it. He was getting depressed again, and he didn't like it. "I'm turning into Snake... Soon I'll be smoking strange smelling s**t and waking up in Mexico with alcohol poisoning and a strange woman in my bed and--" He paused, wondering why he was afraid of that again... Aleric was looking around, hoping he might see a spare cupcake somewhere, Soho was still bawling her little heart out, albeit silently. "Well, look at it this way," Sunil said, "if you die of alcohol poisoning, you won't be around to crave cupcakes or kill people." Actually that didn't sound that bad. Did alcohol work on feien? Sunil gave Silva a look. He probably knew the answer to that. "Does alcohol work on feien?" She asked, licking her lips. "If what I've seen on TV has any bearing on reality, getting drunk might really take the edge off this other craving. Or kill us." She didn't sound that upset about the second option. "We can get drunk." Silva said, as thoughtfully as he could in this state. "But hell if I know what it'll do." He turned to Aleric. "Let's go get drunk." "For once..." Aleric said, his teeth chattering with his shaking. "I agree with you. Soho...?" Soho glanced up through her tears. And since she had three eyes her entire face was covered with them. "Wh--what?" She asked. "We're going home." Aleric said. "Wait!" Sunil said, sounding quite pitiful. "I want to get drunk too." She teared up. "Take me home with you." Silva scowled, then shrugged. "Hell, why not?" He asked. "Someone needs to drink Nick's share." The three took to the air, Soho not really knowing what the plan was, but going anyways. She glanced back at the lounge one more time, her heart breaking. Then they left, expecting Sunil to follow. And she did, slowly, silently, and crookedly. She'd worry about Averno's hair later. After all, if Ruby was any indication - she could be doing a lot of work for nothing.

[Beat Up] Zayne Trouble Sunil was not holding together well. In fact, in her latest artistic endeavor, Zayne had drawn Sunil as a large, tangled, ball of blue and black - a very accurate portrayal of the feien, who seemed to be fraying at the edges. So far, she had been unable to track down Averno - and the stress of being without more cupcakes was beginning to show.
She buzzed into the feien shop in a zig-zag pattern, barely missing the doorframe and walls before settling on the desk in the lobby ********," she muttered to herself. "If only I had black, curly hair." Sarabi Adruenna Hitomi fluttered into the shop looking a bit distracted. This was her second attempt to find this Feien and it kept getting harder and harder. Her nerves were off and it set her on edge. This b***h BETTER be here, Hitomi wasn't sure she could come searching again. Her finger tips were starting to lose their colour and she was flying a lot more slowly than usual. She was flying towards the lounge when she spotted the blue Feien. This HAD to be here. And she had to hit her..soon. Hitomi did her best dive bomb towards the girl with her fist held out. This had to hit her square in the face.
Hitomi missed and ended up sprawled across the table. Zayne Trouble Sunil, oblivious to Hitomi, had been sweeping the room for signs of cupcakes and spacing out every so often to think about how awesome the last cupcake she had eaten had tasted. When Hitomi hit the table and sprawled out, she jumped.
"What the ********?" she yelled, running the words all together. "What the hell is your problem, pinky?"
She crossed her arms to keep the trembling of her fingers from being obvious and glared. Or glared as best she could. Focusing on anything for a long period of time took a lot of effort. Sarabi Adruenna "Stand still...and stop being fuzzy." Hitomi slowly and carefully climbed up. "I have to hit you. So stand still and get ready." Hitomi lunged towards Sunil aiming for her face. "This better work..." She mumbled under her breath. Zayne Trouble "What?" Sunil said, leaning forward to hear this new pink feien. What she had thought she said couldn't be correct.
"Oww!" She said, grabbing at her attacker as she was hit, her hands searching for Hitomi's neck. "What the hell did I ever do to you, you little b***h?
Sarabi Adruenna Aha! She'd hit her! Then it was done then right? "Please don't be upset! I had to! Or else I wouldn't get anymore! You have to understand! Please don't be angry!" As Sunil's hands found Hitomi's throat Hitomi's breaths became shallow and laboured. "Please...stop......you're...hurting me." Hitomi tried to kick her legs as best she could, but it only amounted to Hitomi's legs twitching more than usual. Her toes had begun to turn blue, her wing tips didn't move quite as well as the rest of her wings either. Her eyelids seemed heavy and hard to hold up, giving Hitomi a generally lazy, but very sick, appearance. Zayne Trouble "Cupcakes!" Sunil exclaimed, her hands tightening convulsively on Hitomi's throat for a moment. "Goddamnit! I am not a ******** punching bag!" The dark blue juvenile shook Hitomi sharply by the neck before throwing her down on the surface of the desk.
"I want half of all cupcakes you get from this," she said, feeling rather clever. "How are you supposed to prove you hit me?" She asked, adding, "Don't lie or when find out, I'll make sure you can't eat for a month!"
That sounded threatening, although Sunil's shaking probably ruined the effect somewhat. Sarabi Adruenna "I don't know! I just know I had to hit you!" Hitomi spotted the girl's pretty blue hair and her eyes sparkled in their half-lidded glazed stare. Hitomi clambered up slowly, her body hurt and she couldn't control the twitching. She knew she had to get the cupcakes immediatly. She lunged for Sunil once again and wrapped a fist around a lock of Sunil's hair and held on for dear life, hoping that some of it might come out in their struggle. Zayne Trouble Oh great, Sunil thought. I just had to be attacked by a crazy ********," she said, swinging her own fist at Hitomi's face. "What the hell do you want now? I'm the one who needs hair!"
Man, having her hair pulled hurt - probably more than being punched, if Sunil was honest with herself. Something about the sharpness of the pain. Sarabi Adruenna The hit landed square on Hitomi's nose snapping her glasses in half. "b***h!" True, it would barely take a second thought for Hitomi to fix them, but still..she broke her glasses! Sunil was fuzzy enough WITH the glasses. Hitomi held tight to Sunil's hair not letting go. Hitomi had to have something to stick back into the gum. This should be enough to prove that she hit Sunil. If only Sunil would stop hitting back! Zayne Trouble Her punch having apparently no effect on Hitomi's death grip on her hair, Sunil felt up to try and force the other juvenile's fist open with her hands.
"That seriously hurts," she whined, the corner of her eyes tearing. Sarabi Adruenna "Calm down! I just need a little bit!" Hitomi gave one final tug and ripped out a chunk of her royal blue hair. She giggled maniacly as she rolled off the table. Her wings were slow to act but they caught her just as she almost hit the ground. Hitomi ran to the table and shoved the handful of hair into the gum that the letter had specified. There, it was done. This would guaruntee more cupcakes for herself. "I guess Athan is on her own." Hitomi turned and started to go back to the table to appologize to Sunil. Zayne Trouble "Arrgh," Sunil felt momentarily blinded by the pain of having her hair ripped out violently. Not to mention a bit miffed at how messy this would make her hair look until it grew back. If it would even grow back!
Stumbling about, she focused watery eyes on the pink feien who was responsible for this and began gathering her magic, which while not exactly reliable - was functioning.
"Get back here," she said, trying to sound calm. "You can't just rip someone's hair out and then run off."
In truth, she was not even close to calm and was beginning to think about how satisfying it would be to smash this insolent juvenile's face in. Sarabi Adruenna Hitomi looked up quickly towards Sunil as she attempted to climb the chair. "What..what are you doing?!" It looked like Sunil was getting ready to hit her. "Please don't! I HAD to! I couldn't NOT get them! He promised!! I had to!" Zayne Trouble "My a** you did!" Sunil yelled and threw herself down at Hitomi. She really hadn't thought any further ahead than tackling the other feien to the ground. Sarabi Adruenna Hitomi raised an eyebrow and side stepped Sunil's tackle. "Please don't! It wasn't my fault! I HAD to!! He said he'd give me more! PLEASE understand! It wasn't my fault!" Tears started to well up in Hitomi's eyes. She clutched her broken glasses in her twitching hands. Zayne Trouble Sprawled on the ground, Sunil was starting to get annoyed by Hitomi's excuses. If only the juvenile would stand and fight.
"Coward!" She shouted, pushing herself to her feet. "Take responsibility for your stupid ******** actions!"
It felt good to yell, but Sunil had a feeling it would feel better to fight. Her scalp was still stinging. Sarabi Adruenna Hitomi's eyes glassed over with tears and they rolled down her cheeks. "Please Sunil! It wasn't just me. Everyone has to do something they they don't want to do. I didn't want to hit you. I had to. I'm sorry! If I could fix it I would! I can fix almost anything, but this I can't. I'm sorry!" Hitomi was obviously sobbing. Her fingers had turned blue up to the first knuckle, her breaths were laboured and haggard. Her feet blue almost halfway up her foot. If she continued on like this, she'd die. She HAD to find a way out of here. Zayne Trouble Sunil was oblivious to Hitomi's troubles in her rage and she continued berating the juvenile.
"If you don't take your punishment now, it's only going to get worse! Just let me rip out a little of your hair and see how you like it."
She advanced on the other feien, slowly this time - as if she thought she could sneak up on Hitomi. Sarabi Adruenna She gasped and reached up and touched her hair. "Please! No! My hair is gorgeous! Yours is stupid and boring! I...I can't be here. I have to go now." Hitomi flared her wings and attempted to fly away her wings barely held up her weight and drooped onto the window sill before losing conciousness and falling backward, head over heal, into the couch coushins.

[Thinking Outside the Box] The fight with Hitomi had made Sunil angry, but the pink feien's "escape" had left her without a proper outlet. So instead the blue juvenile had continued her search for Averno.
This search had come up empty.
Her tiny amount of patience exhausted, Sunil had begun to explore alternate options. After all, she firmly believed that she was smarter than this 'Shabby Man'. Besides, if Ruby was to be believed, she wouldn't get anything for her trouble anyway.
"All I need," Sunil repeated to herself as she re-read her secret missive, "is one curl of black hair."
It sounded simple, but Sunil was having difficulty thinking of any other feien she had met with black hair. Especially curly black hair.
As is often the case with these situations, Sunil's problems were solved by a happy coincidence.
She had been brainstorming and pacing the windowsill for over an hour when Zayne came home. It had been raining all day long, which both excited and annoyed the young girl. She was excited to carry the yellow umbrella covered in purple polka dots which Alena had bought her on Lillian's orders, but she was annoyed since the extra moisture in the air made her hair curl and frizz.
"Sunil!" Zayne snapped, shaking her umbrella all over the room while Alena attempted quietly to collect it. "Stop pacing and get away from the window." She had taken on a bit of Lillian's abrupt manner. "You're going to get even more sick and I don't need a cold."
Sunil had turned with a scowl on her face, ready to snap back at her bond, but then stopped with her mouth partway open. A solution had just presented itself and she obediently flew over to rest precariously on her bond's shoulder.
All she needed was to cut off one black curl. A small one, since it was supposed to be from a feien and then she could return to the HQ and fulfill her promise to the 'Shabby Man'.
Despite her returning symptoms and the stinging in her scalp, Sunil smiled to herself.

[Fall from Grace] Oh god, oh god - it was chasing her and she would never be free of it's breath down her neck, it's touch along her spine, the way it stalked her every move and breath.
Sunil came to, her fingers digging into the skin around her eyes, and blood coming from her ears. This wasn't the first time this had happened and Sunil took a moment to get a grasp on her environment. It was a sign of how quickly she was deteriorating that she didn't stop to dwell on what had just happened to her - or whether the visions and feeling were real.
She knew this was because of the cupcakes, the damn cupcakes - the ones she both craved and reviled. The one that she still had a fraction of hidden on the estate. She liked t look at it, but she couldn't bring herself to eat. Luckily she had not yet eaten during one of her confused states that left bruises on her arms and deep scratches all over her face. She was even afraid once that she had shredded a wing.
Why? That was the question that kept repeating in her mind. What had she done to deserve this - this torture. If someone wanted to kill her, why would they be so cruel? She would either die of the extreme blood loss she seemed to suffer everytime she was injured (despite Zayne's horrified attempts to wrap her in bandages) or she would kill herself in one of her visions of horror.
Sunil honestly wasn't sure which fate she was looking forward to less.
It was, contemplating this thought, that Sunil was snatched up by Zayne and wrapped in a large purple blanket.
"This is for your own good," Zayne said sadly, handing the towel to her aunt. Her aunt grimaced, took the towel, and grasped Sunil firmly inside of it - the juvenile's arms were trapped at her sides.
The adult spoke to the feien with an obvious reluctance.
"Zayne believes you are insane," she said. "There are no asylums for tiny fairies that I am aware of, so you will be restrained until the exact nature of your illness can be determined."

[Shabby Man Finale] Zayne Trouble Sunil stumbled into the HQ, leaving little bloody footprints in her wake. Zayne had carried her most of the way to the HQ and then shoved her into the shop. Handle you own messes or something was the upshot of the pep talk she gave the feien on the way to the shop.
And so, Sunil was here and just enough with it to see Ruby conferring with some sort of deformed black-robed figure.
"You!" She said, pointing at the figure. "Are you the cupcake man?" Ice Queen "Sunil!" Soho said. "Sunil, he says he can stop the bleeding, but--but I think it might be... too dangerous." She said stupidly. The wave of confusion was threatening again. She just hoped she could fight it long enough to be healed. Zayne Trouble "Dangerous?" Sunil asked, scratching a long furrow in her arm. "Isn't it dangerous to bleed so much?" She swayed a little bit and blinked stupidly, wondering what was real and what wasn't. Ice Queen "But... but when Mister Silva Demon kills something it doesn't bleed anymore." Soho said. "Even after Nick and Nack drag it off... But then Mister Silva Demon killed Nick, and Nack ran away and--" She started sniffling again. "I don't want to die..." Feien The Shabby Man tapped Ruby smartly on the shoulder; he gestured to Sunil, and after a little bit of thought, wrote down on the paper again. The Shabby Man I can cure you but I need your help. You see I am just the medicine man and I am not the cure man but I am the only one who knows how to help you. Please Miss Sunil if you could bring up Hitomi and her piece of cupcake that would be very helpful and we could start the cure. I feel very bad for you all with the bleeding. For one thing it is bad for local fabrics you go near. Miss Hitomi is on the couch if you wanted to know. I think that three sick feien will help with the cure all at once though four would be better. Ice Queen Soho jumped, startled out of her sniffling as he tapped her. She watched as he wrote, thinking quickly. "I think... I think Aleric is still here somewhere. I can go look if--if you want." She told him. Still the shadows stayed silent. If Silva was there he was being very patient. rosemilk Unfortunately, rather than Aleric - who probably at least would've been useful - who fatefully decided to enter the shop that day, having left Rose asleep with Casca, was Ruby's errant sister. She looked so pale as to be dead, dragging herself a little while flying, only making the effort when she landed between Sunil and Ruby to sit down and arrange her shawl until she realised she'd forgotten it. Burgundia fumbled a moment and looked up with big eyes at the other two, ignoring the Shabby Man completely. "S'all right," she said helpfully and tenderly, through blue lips: "I'm never gonna stop lookin' after you." And then, even more helpfully, she conked back on the hard wood of the desk, apparently out cold. Sunil, Hitomi and Soho were not going to have any measure of useful assistance from her quarter. Sarabi Adruenna Hitomi saw more people arriving and thought that it would be best to make herself seen as all the people here were affected by the cupcake. She slowly scooted forward some from the shadows she was sitting in. She reached out and picked up the plastic-wrapped cupcake and stood to her full height, which seemed a bit diminished as of late. She slowly fluttered to the table with everyone else, the cupcake was held with a loose grip, but if anyone was going to think of taking it..be warned, this cat has claws. And this b***h can bite. Ice Queen "Dee?" Soho said, terrified that her sister was dead. She crawled to Dee's side, touching her cheek. "Dee? Please don't be dead..." She said, gulping. This was so far out of her experience. She took a breath as she felt Dee's breath against the side of her palm. "Mister Shabby Man... When we do this... will everyone like us be cured? Even the people that aren't here?" She asked. Feien The Shabby Man had barely given Burgundia a look, glance reserved only for Hitomi who had crawled out her place in the cushions and Soho. He reached out and squeezed her shoulder, very very gently, and then he wrote. the Shabby Man No. But when you are cured they will realize how they can be cured Miss Soho. I will only have to do this once and then their bodies will know. It is like a contagious cure. I am sorry because it is very hard to explain. Ice Queen Soho slowly nodded, not knowing what to say. "Then... then should we get started?" She asked. She needed to heal both Silva and Aleric, and she was sure there were others out there that had the same problem. Zayne Trouble Sunil just couldn't bring herself to talk anymore. She wanted to hit Hitomi, or possibly present the other from receiving a cure - she really couldn't keep it all straight. And then there was another feien, one she didn't think she knew and Soho seemed awfully concerned.
She blinked a bit and wiped her nose, which had begun sluggishly bleeding - but remained silent. Feien The Shabby Man looked at all of them, unreadable through his head covering. And then he wrote: The Shabby Man Let us start. I warn you though that this is going to hurt. This is going to hurt like nothing you have ever felt before in your life but then afterwards it will be better. I am going to have to ask you to just let me stop you using your hands or your feet or you could hurt each other or even kill each other because you will be hurting so bad. I am sorry but it has to be done. The Shabby Man pulled himself over to pick up a piece of hard old twine. This started to go around Soho's wrists, pulled behind her back, as he patted her on the shoulder sympathetically. Ice Queen She wanted to argue. She wanted to scream out for Silva, like he had told her to, but she had to do this. She wanted everything to revolve around her again, including--no, especially, Mister Silva Demon and Aleric. And to do that... well she'd put up with pain. But if he killed her, Mister Silva Demon would rip his heart out. She looked up at him, her red eyes trusting, even though she wasn't feeling that way in reality. "You won't let me die, will you, Mr. Shabby Man?" Feien The Shabby Man finished tying the knots around her wrists before he gently eased her down to sit -- not hard with Soho in her present condition -- and looked at her again. He tied the knots around her ankles after thinking about it a long moment -- and then he shook his head, and ripped a piece of paper off the blotter, and wrote on it. The Shabby Man I love you very much. You are special to me always. How could I let anything happen to you? He patted her ankles, then turned to Sunil and Hitomi with the makeshift rope. Ice Queen Silva watched from the shadows, his eyes narrowed, his fists so tight that it brought blood. Why wasn't she screaming? This was like watching a ******** horror movie, one he could stop at any moment with an easy little snap of a neck. If that cloth covered freak even had a neck. Why wasn't she screaming? His teeth were gritting, and he literally had to hold himself back. It was him. The same sonofabitch that made him do what he did. He was the reason Nick was dead. HE was the reason Silva had slapped Soho. HE was the reason Silva was turning into a killing machine. He wouldn't snap his neck. That would be too quick. He would wrap his ball and chain around the b*****d's body and tighten the hold until the b*****d's bones snapped one by one...the less important ones first, legs, arms, back... And then he would leave the b*****d alive for a little while as he-- WHY THE HELL WASN'T SHE SCREAMING?? rosemilk It was at this point Burgundia's eyes opened again, unseeing on Sunil and Hitomi and Ruby and the Shabby Man until - she opened her mouth, tried to get up the spit to wet her cornflower lips, failed miserably. What was blurrily running through her head carried probably the same measure of horror as Silva; her sister's mute acceptance of the bonds, how her sister looked tied up - the ugly vulnerability, the waiting sense of dread. Unfortunately, it was muted by what the drug was doing to all of them: just the desire not to move, to let it happen, to just die so it'd be all over. If she had the moisture - she sure as hell had the lack of dignity, there and then - she would have wept. Zayne Trouble Sunil blinked stupidly at Soho, who had just let herself be tied up. She didn't bother trying to read the Shabby Man's note, just shuffled back a little and tried shaking her head.
"I don't know," she muttered.
In a small moment of clarity, she shuffled forward again and peered at what the Shabby Man had written. Still shaking her head, she held out her wrists. Ice Queen It was... shocking. He could almost imagine Soho allowing herself to be tied up on a normal basis. But Sunil? What in the hell had the shabby man offered them? Silva gritted his teeth again, fighting the urge to shout at them, ask them what the hell was the matter with them... Why were they going along with this? Feien It was the same with Sunil as it had been with Soho. The Shabby Man deftly knotted her wrists behind her back, easing her down and knotting her ankles the same way before curving one gloved hand behind her ear in a comforting manner. Burgundia -- who was as still as it was possible to be without being, well, dead -- only got her limp hands bound: he then turned to Hitomi, and offered the twine. For the nexy couple minutes, Sunil slipped in and out of conciousness - and when the Shabby Man was revealed, she slipped under completely. This made it hard to piece any sort of narrative together in her head later while she recovered emotionally from the experience.

[And One More] Sunil didn't share any details of her condition with a seemingly increasingly distracted Zayne. She had two reasons for avoiding any sort of serious interaction with her bond. One was her totally irrational dislike of admitting any weakness and the second was the more practical concern that Zayne was, in fact, the one who had introduced the poison into Sunil's sytem - and then had done nothing ( in Sunil's mind ) to help her recover.
Without the interference of her bond, the angry ( and now increasingly suspicious ) dark blue feien was left to determine her own next step. Unfortunately, she never got the chance to really figure out what she wanted to do with herself. The arrival of Ruya and Zayne's unanticipated jaunt to Africa grabbed ahold of her life and put the need to make plans for the future on the back burner.
Luckily for her, considering the events that were to follow, Ruya arrived before the trip to Africa. It was a sunny day ( abnormal for February ) and Sunil was laid out on the lip of the garden fountain. She was enjoying an almost perfect combination of the hot afternoon sun and the occasional sweet breeze. After a while, she could feel a pebble digging into her back - disturbing her relaxed state. So, with heavy limbs resisting, she tried to wriggle into a more comfortable position with actually having to get up. In her struggles, Sunil managed to kick Ruya, and the bloom seemed to leap off the edge of the fountain in response.
"Ah s**t!" Sunil snapped, pushing herself angrily to her feet as Ruya drifted off on a light breeze towards a clump of dead flowers. "******** annoying," the little dark blue feien complained, getting ready to launch after and retrieve the wayward bloom. She considered Ruya an unwanted ( but well-cared for ) burden - but her burden nonetheless.
"I toughed it out, but baby Ruya had to revert to a bloom. And who ends up babysitting? Me, of course!" Sunil rolled her eyes at the sky, as if asking why this had to be her cross to bear. Gliding over to where she had seen the bloom head, Sunil continued to mutter to herself in annoyance. "Stupid bloom is probably dead since she hasn't come out yet," she said in exasperation, noticing Ruya didn't seem to be anywhere in the immediate area. "Great. JUST GREAT!" She stomped her foot on an innocent blade of grass ( it was arguably in the wrong place at the wrong time ). She ground it into the dirt with her heel, continuing to gaze out into the gardens.
"Now what am I supposed to do?" She asked no one in particular. Frowning, she cupped her hands to her mouth and yelled, "If you're lost - it serves you right for being such a coward Ruya!"
Huffing angrily, Sunil didn't hear the quiet step of another feien behind her. Her first indication she wasn't alone was when a calm voice said from behind her, "Excuse me? Are you quite alright?" And then, before Sunil could turn around, she felt a small combing through the back of her hair. "You have quite a tangle back here," the voice continued. "It's a right mess!"
Sunil sighed, closing her eyes to enjoy the grooming before she had to confront the feien responsible for it. Eventually the tangles were conquered and Sunil opened her eyes in time to see Ruya step gingerly in front of her. The newly arrived juvenile was looking ruefully at her muddy feet and shaking them a bit with each step - totally to no effect.
"About damn time you emerged," Sunil said, sounding tired all of a sudden. She settled her hands on her hips in a posture that had become almost a defensive posture.
"Hmm~?" Ruya looked up from her feet to study Sunil. "Is that my name," she asked mildly. "That would mean you were yelling innappropriate things to me earlier. Given that we don't know eachother," Ruya tucked a strand of hair carefully behind one ear, "I find your behavior - and by the way, your grooming," she wrinkled her nose, "distasteful."
Sunil sighed as if Ruya was a complete and utter moron. "Actually, I do know you." Ruya looked doubtful, and annoyed at her, Sunil discarded the lies she had mulled over telling Ruya. "You used to know me too! You just decided to revert to a bloom when our first bond ... left." Ruya's mouth formed a surprised little "o" at that revelation and Sunil kicked herself for spilling the beans all at once.

[Makes Two] "This," Sunil guestured around the Grand Hall, "is our house."
Ruya made a bored noise as she peered around her.
"We're to be rarely seen and never heard here," Sunil said, crossing her arms and glaring up the stairs int he approximate direction of Lillian's wing of the manor.
"Wise rule," Ruya nodded. "Although I doubt you ever succeed at truly meeting that standard of behavior."
Sunil felt herself get hot at the verbal jibe and her hands clenched into fists as Ruya started to drift off. She almost rose to the bait, but as she bunched the muscles in her back to tackle Ruya - the other juvenile looked back and smirked.
"You're so very easy to irritate," she remarked before zipping off up the stairs and around a corner.
She didn't need a babysitter to show her around the house, especially not an easily irritated, dense, loud feien who thought she was superior. ( And if she really thought about it, the fact that this Sunil seemed to already know her - and had preceded her into this environment - irked her as well. It robbed her of a sense of well-needed control. ) And Sunil's personal grooming irked her as well. At least the other feien had allowed Ruya to impose a little order on her messy mane.
She only hoped that Sunil's physical state wasn't a reflection of their bond's lack of concern. She wouldn't be able to deal with such a state of affairs. She needed order and rules - boundaries. It was making her feel short of breath just to think about it.
