Al stared as Lawr tried to explain. He nodded understandably at some parts but then snorted by the end of it. "Are you seriously telling me you are more concerned about Rodney being unable to move on when he's young, hasn't got a negative reputation, and never dated before?..." Lawrence chuckled at his phone. "He's pretty upset." he said, not giving the phone back. "One second, one more thing I want to say to him."
"And maybe you are right, maybe I made the wrong choice, but Rodney talks a lot about learning and redemption and Melvin talked a lot about me being a horrible person who needed supervision. I suppose when it comes to choosing what could be the "good" road I assumed it was the one where I became a better person. This is how things ended up, and I don't have the heart to tear out Rodney's"
He put a few of the more choice photos from the gallery in a text message which he sent to himself, before adding one of them to a text which he sent to Melvin.

Al reached out to grab the phone as not handing it back when said hand was offered was a worrisome action in itself. He immediately started browsing his own phone out of paranoia. Especially with that ******** chuckle. Lawr never chuckled.
"Nice, so you tear Melvin's heart out instead. The heart that stuck by you through your worst and - frankly - was likely the brutally honest you seem to sometimes ******** need. Not having your s**t excused by absolution."
Al's tone may have shot up a few decibels to a high-pitched shreik, "WHAT THE ********>

Lawrence shrugged. "Perhaps that is the case, but it's not how things panned out." He wasn't about to admit to Al that he was doubtful he'd be able to last at the standard that Rodney demanded, so the full extent of his concerns remained unsaid.
"You gave me your phone." he said, and smiled sweetly.
