The warning made her look at her wrist, bending it experimentally. She had hurt it more than once in her short time of owning the knives.
To be honest, she was rather relieved to see the training dummy brought out. She doubted she would be able to lay a finger on Qora, but she was also more likely to make a mistake that he might not react to in time. It was best to use something inanimate for now. "I would not trust me, yet," she mused with a small smirk. Yes, this was nothing to get worked up about. It was practice, and she was going to get better! She approached the dummy, took on the stance, and stepped into the first thrust. Her blade made contact, and she winced at the pressure on her wrist and arm. She was already using more force with the simple step and stance added!
She kept up the practice, making more hits with the basic move before she felt comfortable enough to add onto it. She shook out her arm when she finally backed away from the dummy and gave Qora a small smile. She knew this wasn't much yet, but she had come to appreciate her muscles burning in her desire to grow and get stronger, and she could feel the ache. It was not as bad as when she had first started training. She would have been exhausted by now back then!

Honestly, training the girl was a lot easier than he had expected! He had really only had to show her the basics and she sort of progressed on her own! She showed real promise, Qora thought, she had only really needed the right direction. He watched and nodded his approval when she did something exceptionally well. When Aari started to slow down, he approached her again. "You're doing really well. You have pretty good instincts when it comes to this, I've really only had to show you the basics and you've caught on quickly. As I've said, it's really just going to be practicing for you so that you can rely on these skills when you really need them."He grabbed a bag that was on the ground and pulled out a few small, wrapped packages. Inside was some dried fruit and meat. Qora handed one of these packages to Aair and sat down. "You should take a break and get some energy back. It's important to keep up your strength."

Aari simply could not help her delighted smile at the praise. She was feeling pretty good about it! Others had told her she was quick to catch on... but it would help if she didn't look like a stiff breeze would tip her over. Strength would be needed. "I will be sure to practice," she assured with a nod.
When the food was handed to her, she gave an appreciative smile of relief and settled onto the ground. "Thank you." Taking a bite of the fruit, she sighed softly and gave Qora another smile of appreciation. "Thank you for doing this with me. I cannot emphasize enough my appreciation that you have taken me seriously." She looked down at the dried fruit in her hand idly. "There are few who give me such a chance without intending to either go far too easy on me, or far too harshly."

Qora nodded and gave her a kind smile. "I take anyone who wants to learn how to defend themselves seriously. I feel that some under value the ferocity that women can bring to the battle field. I've met some fierce warriors who are women, and even my wife who isn't a fighter has a certain fire in her that could scare even the harshest soldier if someone were to mess with our children." He eyed her, wondering just what all he could ask. "I take it, many aren't willing to give you the opportunity based on your herritage?' He took a bite of food himself before watching her with an even gaze. Qora would leave it up to her as to how much she wanted to divulge and share.

Aari was quite impressed to hear Qora's opinion. Women could be effective in battles, she was sure! There were many women tougher than herself, after all! ..Of course, her smile fell the tiniest bit at the mention of a family. Well, it was to be expected. Qora was a good man... Besides, she was too busy for a relationship!
The question made her eyes widen slightly, lips pursing thoughtfully. "I assume that it is more based on the fact that I am a woman." After a moment, her gaze shifted back down to the food in hand. "I know some of them do use that in addition to my heritage to dismiss me." One hand reached back for her braid to pull it forward, stroking the silky length affectionately. "My mother is of Zena. Her hair is a little darker than mine.." One day, she would have the problems here taken care of, and then she could return to her mother.. if her mother was still alive... "I remember.. that she would never take anyone harassing me for looking different. ..She would probably be ashamed to see how I would cover it here." She still did cover it sometimes, but more for personal safety than from anyone's shame. Blue hair on fireling skin did stand out in Oba... That made her look up curiously. "If I may ask, did either of your parents have the same traits as you do?"

"Well, you'll just have to use the skills that you learn to prove them wrong now won't you?" Qoraekai said with a wink. He hadn't caught the slight change in her expression as he continued to listen. "Zena?! I hear that place is like the complete opposite of here. I traveled to....Tale? with my wife, it's where she's from but we didn't go as far north as Zena. Hmmm, my parents."Qora thought back on his parents, wondering just what they were up to now. "No. My parents didn't have any of the same traits I do. They are plainly Oban. In fact, they believed, and likely still do, that there was something wrong with me. That I was sick. And that's what led them to become prey to the Crescents, the cult that worships Ubeli. They believed there was some....ritual..." His brow furrowed and his nose crinkled slightly recalling things. "A ritual that would bring back my pigment and fulfill some prophecy. And they justified anything they did. Anybody they hurt. With that cause." He shook his head. "Traits like mine are not common. Though, my wife has an interesting trait as well. Only half her pigment has disappeared. Quite a pair we make." He laughed a little bit. "The two of you would probably get along, I think."

Aari smirked lightly. Exactly. She would prove it to all of them; especially her father. Brow rising at the sudden shock, she gave a sad little smile and nodded. "Yes, it is. Zena is cold, and covered with snow. It glitters in the both the sunlight and moonlight.." Shaking off that train of thought, she looked back up with interest.
She gave him a slightly sympathetic look. It wasn't pity; just comparable understanding from another view. "I am sorry that your parents' lack of understanding caused such a burden. While my difference has a clearer cause, my father still refused to accept it." The mention of his wife brought her smile back a little though. "How curious that you two would find each other. It sounds as though you were meant to be." She cocked her head lightly, smile light. "Perhaps I'll be able to meet her one day."

Qora smiled and shook his head slightly. "No apologies are needed for my parents. I may have very well been misled if something was wrong or different with my children that didn't have an obvious cause. Maybe someday I'll understand with being a new parent now. But then again, maybe I wont ever understand. I think even if I don't understand something, I'll just have to accept that I don't understand it and then move on...you know?" He cocked his head at her slightly in return of Aari's. A light laugh, he ran a hand through his hair. "Well, Aari. I do believe that you have the knowledge you need to continue your training on your own. I won't just leave to you fend for yourself however. Though, even though you're obviously not living with your parents I'm inclined to think you have some people you're living with? I'm sure Irro would have no problem if you needed somewhere to stay, as long as you don't mind two trouble making boys. Or, I do come here often. So if you need me. You can leave a note or something in this tree here." He stood, and walked to a tree that had a small hole among the roots. "Leave a note here of a date and time you'd like to meet and I'll be here." He paused. "I know what it's like to be on your own. Its a cruel world out there. If not for Irro, I don't know what would have happened to me. I don't know if you have anybody like that, but, I can be that person if you need it." He smiled kindly and nodded. He imagined if he had any siblings, this would be the kind of relationship he would have with them.

Aari gave a reluctant nod. People reacted in different ways when it came to dear ones having a situation with no obvious cause. The assurance to continue helping her made her mind shift to much lighter thoughts, and she couldn't resist a bright smile rising. "I do have a place that I am currently staying. It's.. a camp outside of town, with my friends. I truly appreciate your offer." For having such a rough youth, Qora was quite a warm fellow. ..Perhaps it was because of the type of environment he grew up in? She couldn't say. She just knew she was incredibly glad to have met him.
She looked at the tree and nodded with confidence. "I will keep that in mind. I would enjoy being able to continue working with you." Her smile softened slightly, giving the tiniest nod. "Perhaps not quite like that... but I do have two who helped me find my freedom, and continue supporting me."
She glanced up, brow knitting slightly. "Speaking of which.. I should actually return to them soon." Looking to Qora, she held out her hand. "Again, I cannot thank you enough for your help. I will keep in touch."

Of course, Qora had sort of known that she had at least some where to go to, but what he hadn't known was if it was somewhere she was comfortable at. There was no way to tell if she would even be comfortable with Irro and himself but he was definitely the kind to ask thanks to Irro's influence on him. "It's no problem at all, really. I have enjoyed it just as much. You've given me a chance to try my hand at teaching someone, admittedly, you were easy to teach as you already had some knowledge. I got a little bit of practice in for when my children inevitably call upon me to teach them my ways." He waggled his eyebrows at her before standing when she did. Taking her hand, he grasped it firmly as he would any man. Aari seemed to have had a rough life as he had, she deserved the respect due to her. He nodded as he shook her hand. "We should be in the area for quite some time. Don't hesitate to try and find me if you need anything." And just like that, he gathered up his things and went his own separate ways, wishing the hybrid behind him all the luck in the world.
