As Etsali headed in to try the first night of Alternian Ninja Squirrel games, the goobeast section caught her eye. She hadn't noticed that at all last night, how interesting! It wasn't a gerbil, that was for sure, but it sounded like it could be a fun little pet. Now to decide what to feed it?
Etsali gave Lutrin a thumbs up as she sized up the obstacles, then did a quick set of stretches to get ready for it. She was pretty sure she could make it through, just had to focus! Maybe pretend there was treasure at the end, even! Nodding to herself, she took off towards the trampoline and hurling herself off of it with a strong jump. Unfortunately she wasn't able to get up high enough to climb above it, so she worked her way across below, concentrating solely on staying above the acorns. Thankfully she made it.
Shaking out her arms, she eyed the jumping bars next. As long as she moved from one to the next quickly, without losing momentum, it didn't seem too tough! As soon as she felt she was ready, she did just that, swinging from one bar to the next, thankful as always for the grip her gloves provided. Honestly, she could have done this one all day! With a grin at the thought, she finished and moved on to...
The cargo climb. Yeah, this one would be tough. That was a long way to go straight up. She gave it her best shot though, but after the last two obstacles, it was a little too much on her arms. Soon enough, down she went. She was laughing as she rolled away from the net though.
He pulled his hair back into a long ponytail before getting in position to start. Amonee was so desperate to be an athlete that it was kind of sad. But he was a zero to hero story in the making, he just knew it! As soon as it was his turn to prove what a Ninja Squirrel he could be, the jadeblood set off running towards the trampoline. He managed to clear it and cheered as he landed.
However, the jumping bars would be a problem. Upper body strength was not something he had trained during all those hikes around Busthind. He grabbed onto the first set of bars before sliding off of them like wet spaghetti, screaming as he hit the acorn pit.
But wait, this was just like last Bloodfest? The acorns. THE ACORNS. FIND THE CHESTNUTS.
A voice shouted for him to get back to the course and he snapped out of it after stuffing a bunch of acorns into his dress. He needed to climb a 30 foot wall? Okay. He could do this. He had acorn powers now.
"I'M GOING TO DISNEYLAND!" He cried as he used every ounce of willpower in his body to pull himself up!
Disturbed by Amonee's war cry about acorns, Nucleo followed him through the obstacles in high pursuit. The jadeblood tended to get loud for a variety of reasons but Nucleo found himself worrying more and more that it was from pain lately. Amonee seemed to just have bad luck, to put it simply. Breezing through the Jump Hang and the Jumping Bars, the obstacles barely registered on Nucleo's mind as he merely tried to catch up to his friend. It wasn't until he'd made it to the end that Nucleo realized somewhere in the middle his thinkpan had switched gears into keeping up his momentum. Oops!
Another booth to challenge her strength! Zeylla smirked, feeling good about this, and stepped up to take her turn.
JUMP HANG (9+4=13) Zeylla stared down the drop at the trampoline below, checking her aim before taking a deep breath and jumping. There was the moment when her stomach rolled up her throat as she fell, but once her feet hit the trampoline and she flew back up into the air, Zeylla reached out and clasped onto the net with a surprising amount of ease.
She scaled up the top of the net and rolled to the end platform, leaping to her feet as she came to the end, arms raised up in a small sign of victory. This was going to be too easy.
(-1 stamina) JUMPING BARS (3+6=9) This was a little harder for Zeylla to complete, with each bar spread far apart and causing her to have to swing and reach for each bar. Her hands screamed at her as she worked her way across the bars, but she refused to give up, even as her arms groaned against each jerk when she caught the next bar. But at the end, she managed to finish and a satisfied smirk crossed her face as she cracked her knuckles and moved onto the last obstacle. (-1 stamina)
CARGO CLIMB (10+4=14)
Another climb? Zeylla scoffed and eyed the challenge. Sure it was a 30some foot climb, but the bars had been more difficult. She quickly began to scale the net, her hands and feet never once tangling or failing her as she climbed.
She felt like she had done the last part quiet fast, and as she got to the top, she gave a small 'whoop' and stretched her arms up, feeling her muscles stretch and groan from the work she had just put them through. It was worth it though, and she climbed down from the final platform and stretched her arms as she walked over to the main booth and leaned up against it to take a breather from her definite workout, eyes drifting to watch other trolls participating in the booth.
"I'm still not sure if I'm doing this right." Nucleo's brow furrowed. The directions were a little vague, encouraging creativity over technical skill which made it a nice low key activity to do. But the greenblood worried that his goop was just sort of looking like, well, goop. Playing with it a little more, the barista thought of eating lunch next and inhaled the scent of nearby shishkabobs. He could picture them now with tender meat, peppers, and mushrooms...
Sample: Flower (can it be pink?) Head: 50% Body: 0% Legs: 50% Tail: 75% Colour: 75% Texture: 75%
"What are you gonna be little guy? I'm so thrilled to meet you." Amonee checked on his goo friend and dropped another sample in for it to absorb. What would a lotus and an octopus look like when combined? He just had to know!
For the first section of the obstacle course, Kaldru had no problem; jumping and climbing was his thing, and he passed in (his opinion) record time! Score: 10 Stamina: 11
The second section was a bit harder, as he wasn't used to hanging. He just barely made it across, panting by the time he did. Score: 4 + 4 (str) = 8 Stamina: 10
The third section ... was more climbing! Kaldru was practically ecstatic at that, scampering up the rope netting eagerly. This stuff was fun! Score: 8 + 6 (end) = 14 Stamina: 8
Total Obstacles Cleared: 3 Total Score: 10 + 8 + 14 = 32
Hopped up on the excitement from the course, Kaldru decided to add more samples to the little goobeast experiment. Mim had expressed dislike for the idea, but he just couldn't resist. He wanted to see what happened!

Rollover
Excellent start, everyone! Lutrin enjoyed watching everyone make their attempt, and was impressed by more than one performance. For those of you struggling, don't worry! She's cheering you on from the sidelines! She gives two froggy boys in particular an encouraging thumbs up.
Congratulations to today's winners! You are well on your way to becoming Ninja Squirrels!

[ Today there are some major updates! ]
From now on rollover will be performed no earlier than 2am PST.
You now get one ninja nut automatically for participation in ANS. Additional ninja nuts can be obtained based on your performance. Like before, you receive one for each obstacle cleared. If you played yesterday, you may retroactively claim your ninja nut!
There has been a change in how raffle tickets are distributed. Two will be distributed based on the top performances in ANS, and the third will be raffled out among the remaining contestants.
The wordcount has been removed! Posts should still have some small blurb of role-play however.
Finally all obstacles have been rebalanced so that they all require a 7 or higher in order to pass successfully. The exceptions are the Pipe Slider, Salmon Ladder, Devil Steps, and Warp Wall, which require a 9 or higher. Hopefully this simplifies the game and eliminates some burdensome number crunching. Thanks for bearing with me!
[ Some Gamplay Reminders ]
Don't forget to add in your stat bonuses to your score! Also you only include scores in your total for the obstacles you passed successfully. Scores are now posted on the front page.
If you fail an obstacle you cannot complete any more of the course for the day. Any subsequent rolls are considered invalid.
Finally, please remember to include the form below in your posts. It helps me tally up at the end of the day. Thanks!

Bridge of Blades -1 Stamina Six platforms, each one perpendicular to the next, on a spinning axis over a pit of acorns. The objective is to bounce from platform to platform without falling in.
Add your balance OR your speed to your score. A score of 7 or higher is required to pass this objective.
Curtain Slider -1 Stamina Two long curtains suspended from a rail over a pit of acorns. The objective is to slide the first curtain over to the second, and dismount on to the platform below.
Add your speed to your score. A score of 7 or higher is required to pass this objective.
Wall Lift -2 Stamina A line of walls of increasing weight and thickness. The objective is to lift and pass under each one.
Add your strength to your score. A score of 7 or higher is required to pass this objective.
Spider Climb -2 Stamina Two vertical parallel walls, each twenty feet tall. The objective is to climb straight up, with one’s hands and feet on either wall.
Add your strength to your score. A score of 7 or higher is required to pass this objective.
Pipe Slider -2 Stamina Two perpendicular pipes, fifteen feet long, suspended over a pit of acorns. A metal bar that the contestant hands from rests perpendicular over them. The objective is to slide the pipe across to the other side without falling off.
Add your balance OR your endurance to your score. A score of 9 or higher is required to pass this objective.
A harder course! Kaldru was excited for this one, though he nearly lost his footing ... Score: 4 + 3 (spd) = 7 = pass! Stamina: 11
... and only clung to the curtain by sheer force of will ... Score: 1 + 3 (spd) = 4 = FAIL | using a feat of determination to pass Stamina: 10
... but found his stride again in something more familiar - lifting heavy things! Score: 10 + 4 (str) = 14 = pass! Stamina: 8
Thankfully the next obstacle involved his favorite thing again: Climbing! Score: 6 + 4 (str) = 10 = pass! Stamina: 6
The final bit was difficult, but he was pretty good at just clinging, so he just barely made it to the end. Yeah! Score = 3 + 6 (end) = 9 = pass! Stamina: 4

Zeylla was definitely excited to come back to this booth, and jogged up at a light pace with determination in her eyes. She slowed down to a walk as she got closer, ignoring the looks she got from trolls in the crowd as sh had jogged past, and instead focused in on a little blueblood who was just starting the course. Kaldru! Zeylla walked calmly up to the edge of the course, and held back the urge to cheer on her student as he went through the challenges. He did a fairly good job, and while there were a few moments where she was certain he was about to drop, Kaldru would surprise her each time! He didn't see it because he was so focused(like she would expect him to be) on the task ahead of him, but the smallest of smiles appeared on her face before disappearing just as quick.
She made her way to where he was climbing off the course, and called out in a tone that just might have been proud, "Good job, Kaldru," she nodded at him and reached out in a moment of teacher-student bonding, and (with just a touch of awkward-not-sure-how-to-do-thisness) reached out and patted the tough, little blueblood on the top of his head. Yeah, that's what teachers do right?
She then added with a smirk, "Well, now it's my turn I guess,"
BRIDGE OF BLADES (4+4=cool
Zeylla eyed the obstacle before her. Only six platforms, this should be easy. And yet, as she leaped from spinning platform to spinning platform she realized she would need to move faster to make it through this, as her balance was not helping her in the least. She landed on the other side and resisted the urge to look relieved (she was being watched after all!). (-1 stamina)
CURTAIN SLIDER (2+4=6); USE FEAT OF DETERMINATION!
The next obstacle should have been easy, but maybe she was being too confident, too cocky. It must have been because she was trying to show off for Kaldru. But for whatever reason, it took Zeylla a moment of gathering all she had inside her to get that first curtain over to where she could reach the second and the platform beyond. She was sweating as she touched the end spot, and she shook her head and caught her breath before moving on.
(-1 stamina)
Wall Lift (4+6=10)
Easy! After taking her breather after the last challenge, lifting those walls was a breeze. Zeylla moved quickly through them, her face never once giving away any strain or struggle with even the heaviest door. She was all muscle, baby.
Spider Climb (10+6=16!)
Really? Climbing was nothing new, there were several tunnels in her frondhive where the wood-eating insects who had lived there before had tunneled straight up into other rooms. Zeylla had done quiet a few of this 'spider climbs', and some those times as recently as in the last week(she was constantly exploring the maze of a hive she had). She moved quickly up the walls, noting how easy this was compared to the much smaller climbs she made in her hive.
(-2 stamina)
Pipe Slider (1+4=5 :c )
Zeylla came to the last feat with confidence after her easy climb, but as she scooted the pipe down to the other end, she found her hands to be far too sweaty and her arms far too tired. She tried to hold on, and was just within reach of the end. She decided to see if she could swing herself and jump onto the end platform, but as she let go, she knew it wasn't going to happen.
OOF, into the acorns she went. She didn't want to come out either, but had to do so, and as she clambered out of the pit, she looked over for her little blueblood, and scratched the back of her head, unsure what to say if he had seen that.
