Student name: Iah
Prompt: Ants on a Log (celery, peanut butter, raisins)
Response:

Iah was more into meats, but he was okay with eating some greens if they were prepared in a way he liked. For example, celery when it was paired with peanut butter and raisins. He couldn't eat it on it's own, but with some sticky protein and dried fruit he quite enjoyed it. It still could never match his love of meat (Which he knew to limit so he didn't over do it), but for a simple snack who could go wrong? For those reasons he had decided to bring it to class for their assignment, having made two versions. He had decided to do grape raisins and cranberry raisins, giving his fellow students a choice on which they wanted.

After letting everyone have the one they wanted, he sat down with one himself and began to nibble on it, smiling to himself as he ate the snack he had worked on making and sharing with everyone. He felt proud of the hard work he had done, and was happy for it. This was what snacks were all about to him, being able to share what you made with others.

Student name: Qasim
Prompt: Post a picture of a healthy snack that your student brought to share
Response:
User Image

Well, it was certainly healthier then other things the boy could have brought, the processed cheese that filled the inside of the celery sticks was less then ideal. Even still, it was a snack that Qasim could easily make himself and loved to share with his friends. At this point, he wasn't overly concerned with healthy meals, but he had heard some juniors and seniors chatting about how being "healthy was important". The freshling tried to follow by example ... hopefully this particular snack served its purpose?

How could you go wrong with fruit and cheese skewers! Dawbie loooved fruit. He loved how colorful it was, how sweet and delectable it tasted. There was little else in the world that tasted so good as a piece of fruit on a hot summer's day. And the wonderful shapes you could cut the pieces in to made it even more fun to eat! Simple, but top quality.

Student name: Kanda
Prompt: thick yogurt and granola bars.
Response: Kanda was looking forward to Health. They had to bring in snacks to share, and there would be a whole bunch of different things to try and it was exciting to wonder what her classmates would bring in. As soon as she had heard from her teacher that they had to bring something in, she had asked her father what she could bring. After a few discussions (no, Kanda, cupcakes were not a healthy snack), they decided on a thick yogurt and granola bars. Vüsala brought them to her just before class started, so they were nice and cold. Aside from a couple of her own snacks, she grabbed some string cheese, a couple pieces of apple, and a handful of blueberries. Then she happily munched on them at her desk, watching with a sparkle in her eye as others also took some of her snacks.

Student name: Hikito Kanti
Prompt: Popcorn & kettlecorn
Response:Hikito had huffed and puffed about having to bring in something healthy as a snack. Everyone knew that a snack was only good if you had to trade for it! Not that he was complaining about getting to spend the whole day in class, but still. For all his grumbling though, he still brought in something. Some might have argued that popcorn and homemade kettlecorn were not the healthiest of snacks, but he would vehemently disagree. He had looked it up and everything! It was.

The best news was that he got to spend the night before making them with his momma. They had made the kettlecorn for class, and then a little extra for them. They’d sat down together and watched a movie until he’d fallen asleep. It made him so happy to spend time with her.

Sitting in class with his snack was better than regular class, but not as fun as spending time with momma. There was this weirdly thick yogurt that he’d picked up. It was good, but it was much thicker than he was used to. He poked at it a bit as he ate it, wondering who had brought it in. It was good at least.

Student name: Isabelle
Prompt: Chocolate Drizzled fruit kabobs!
Response: Isabelle love love loved the assignment the teacher had handed out a week before. “Digestion lab?” More like Snack day. She was all over that. For a healthy snack, she had looked through a bunch of websites before coming to one that sounded really good. Chocolate drizzled fruit kabobs? Yum! She’d had one of the caretakers help her to get the fruit and chocolate, and then one of the kitchen staff had been really nice and let her use a melter for the chocolate. She’d used strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, cantaloupe, melon, and pineapple for the base, and then drizzled a bit of chocolate over each one. It was the perfect way to get a healthy snack and it helped with a chocolate craving! She was so excited for her own snack, she hardly touched anyone else’s though she did leave plenty for others to try her snack too!

Student name: Cyril
Prompt: Sweetish Nuts
Response: Cyril nervously loitered in the doorway with a bowl clutched to his chest. ‘Digestion lab,’ right. Bring a healthy snack. For everyone. He’d bitten his lip and debated on his snack choices. His favorite was Sweetish Nuts. But weren’t people allergic to nuts? What if he got someone deathly sick and hurt them. . . or worse, killed them. Then he’d be in big trouble, maybe even go to jail.

He almost decided it was safer to go with something else. He was in a baking class, wasn’t he? He could make something in there. Oh, but then it could go wrong and he wouldn’t have anything to bring. In the end, he decided to make the nuts. It was simple enough to make. A lil cinnamon, a lil ginger, a lil vanilla extract, and a bit of extra-virgin olive oil with walnuts, pecans and cashews baked for about fifteen minutes and you had a sweet, but healthy snack. He’d labeled them, just in case anyone was allergic, and now he just had to bring them in.

Poor child waited until the last minute, right as the bell rang, to dash into class and set his dish with the others. He practically threw himself into his seat and hunched down. When the teacher let them up to sample some of the snacks, he waited to see if anyone took some of his. A couple did, ok, more than a couple. With a sigh of relief, he got himself a small handful of his snack and then a little of this and that from what the rest of the class had brought it.

Student name: Agave Chai
Prompt: Banana oatmeal walnut cookies
Response: Agave was completely prepared for this digestion lab. He’d made a couple batches of banana oatmeal walnut cookies. Three ingredients and fifteen minutes in the oven made for a pretty satisfying cookie. They were healthy, as needed, and satisfied a craving for cookies. Some had been sacrificed to his roommate for going out to get the ingredients, but there were still plenty more left for the class. He’d also wanted to bring a drink, but wasn’t sure which kind would pair best with the cookies. That would be something he remedied soon. He took a cookie from his own snack, and then a bit of fruit and some sort of meat kabob. Whatever it was was tasty and he’d have to find out who’d brought it in.

Student name: Kayla Sue
Prompt: Why is sleep important?
Response: Kayla Sue stands up and answers the question. "Sleep important because if you don't get enough you can get very grouchy." Kayla Sue said the last part with a scrunched up grumpy face, which made her smile. "My Nana says the when I was littler I has to take napes all the time because I was a little monster when I got sleepy." Her Nana still liked to pick on her about needing napes. “Nana takes napes too but she says it’s hard to be as beautiful as her. So, she needs her beauty rest to keep up her looks.” This had Kayla Sue smiling happily as she remembers her Nana’s words so well that she could almost hear them.

Student name: Marinette
Prompt: Running laps! You need to roll lower then 5,1
Response:
Marinette hated running laps. She was hoping they could swim or something in PE today, but instead they had to run in the hot sunlight. The naiad tried her best, pushing through the discomfort and the heat, reminding herself that this was how people on land lived. If she wanted to be a proper resident, she'd better start working on her leg muscles. She ended up just barely making it in time, and she panted heavily at the finish line, feeling accomplished even if a bit embarrassed.

Student name: Arceus
Prompt: Why is sleep important?
Response: |Sleep gives us energy to get through our days. It's important because, without sleep, we would die." Arceus figured everybody knew that, but still thought it important to mention. "Getting a good amount of sleep keeps your mind sharp and also helps you focus. It makes daily takes easier to achieve. Sleep is good for a lot of different reasons and not just one. Sleep lots, and you'll do great in life. Probably?"

Student name: Pann
Prompt: Why is sleep important?
Response: "Getting enough sleep is incredibly important for your mood. Without it, typically cheerful people can come across as grouchy or even depressed. It's simply amazing just how much a good night's sleep can brighten a person's mood. If you ever feel especially down or generally low, trying taking a power nap. Whether it's physically or emotionally, a quick nape can help you recharge your 'batteries' and help you get through the day. Sleep is important for everyone. Lack of sleep can even induce psychosis ... it's fascinating, really."

Student name: Caela
Prompt: Why is sleep important?
Response: Caela tapped a claw to her chin, mulling the question over. "Sleep is important because of all the things you mentioned, and because it feels good, too. Naps are great. I mean, if you have your bed set up perfectly, and you have peace and quiet, it feels the best! How many different ways can I explain that naps feel good? It just does. Get your stuffed animals, your pillows, and your blankets, and just settle down. I hear some people use special smells to help them sleep, but I think that'd be distracting. Anyway, if you're going to relax, you might fall asleep, so... that's how it all comes together." Blah blah blah blah. She really didn't know how to explain it better than that. She was going to try and set up an awesome nap after this class...

June, 2017
Student name: Solomon
Prompt: Why is sleep important?
Response:
Solomon yawned and started down at his seat before he listened to the teacher explain the assignment for the day. The day before he had stayed up extremely late due to his class assignments, something that kind of amused him now considering the topic in class. Still irony aside he needed to focus on his answer, what was sleep to him?

Sleep is important because it gets you well rested for the day to come. When you get enough sleep you are more aware and you do better on tests. You also can fight the urge to sleep in class better and you remember things better for tests. It also keeps you healthier and helps you fight off any colds you might have.

There that should be suitable enough for an answer right, he didn't get too logical or too technical and it was his thoughts on the matter. Putting the pen down he covered another yawn before turning the assignment in.

Student name: Viaresu
Prompt: Why is sleep important?
Response:
Viaresu had been hoping to have a more p.e oriented class to help wake him up but it seemed when it came to classes that the gods never listened to your plea. Made sense in a way, they had more important things to do after all. Still with out health you couldn't take care of yourself and you did learn important things after all. So the assignment of the day was sleep. Well that was relatively easy if not a bit funny considering how tired Viaresu was. He lightl poked himself more awake as he thought about how he we wanted to answer this.

Sleep is what recharges your body, you obviously need food and you need water but sleep is important for your mind. If you don't get enough sleep you lower your immune system and set your self up for colds and other nasty things. With out sleep you also over tax your mind and you go long enough with out it in some races you risk the possibility of going insane. so it's important for recharging reasons and to keep yourself as sharp as you can be.

Ah it was a bit scientific but his dad was a science major in university so he did get all these random facts.
