The change only had him thinking things were worse. "Does my personality suck too?" He said, staring at him with even sadder eyes. Did Lawr just like Rodney's personality all around better than Melvin's?
"I can't be like him. He cries and talks so softly even when Lawr's being a d**k." He started at the returning glass and blinked at the appearance of a sandwich, confused why it was here.
He didn't let go of Al just yet and used his free hand to take the glass to him. "So like......who would you do it with. Rodney or me? Subjectivel-li-ly." He said as he looked them both.

"Uh." Noah gave Melvin a slightly worried look. "You were being kind of aggressive on Twitter but I don't think that means your personality sucks," he offered cautiously.
The question made him look to Al, a little panicked. "I, um, I don't know Rodney so I can't really say anything about him," he tried.

Al looked back at Melvin and considered the question. In all honesty... and if he was being honest here, "You. Rodney kinda annoys me."

That was all the answer he needed, and he took his hand off Al to then cross them on the bar counter and set his head on top, frowning at the sandwich.
"I'm angry......but I'm not out to hurt anyone.........I just want him. Wouldn't you be angry too?"
He started at the plate. "Why is there a sandwich here?"
The answer from Al had him lifting his head up and staring at him. "You would? Al.........that's... that's so nice of you." And then he leaned over and hugged him. As far as someone being drunk at the bar, he probably was the best smelling patron Al had.

"I'd be angry if something like that happened," Noah agreed. That was a fairly safe question, anyway.
"You asked for a sandwich," he reminded Melvin.

Al seemed startled at first and then very slowly, very carefully hugged Melvin back while patting him on the back. He gave Noah a wide-eyed look and then showed his hands. See? Just a hug, totally not acting on that. No out to prove you would get angry about that sort of thing, promise.
"Yup, you said whiskey, pats, sandwich, lawr, and house. We only had three of those things here."

Melvin continued to hug him, before breathing out. "Axe."
Then, blinking, he pulled back and stared at him. "You're right. You don't have that." And he got up and drank the whiskey and took the sandwich, grabbing his coat too.

Noah was actually trying not to laugh about the hug. He wasn't particularly worried. Drunk guys did weird things.
Melvin was getting up, very suddenly. "Um - you should maybe stay here a little longer?" Noah suggested. He couldn't see how anything good would come of Melvin deciding to drunkenly barge in on Lawr and his new boyfriend. Husband. Whatever. "You might drop your sandwich? They'll still be there after you finish."

Al stared as Melvin suddenly got up to leave and while Noah tried to stop him by asking him to stay, Al knew of a good Melvin trap from prior drunken incidents.
"WAIT! Melvin. I need your advice!"

Melvin was in the middle of trying to figure out how to put his arms through his coat sleeves while holding a sandwich when he stopped and looked at Noah. "You're right. Here. You hold it for me." And he set it on the plate in front of Noah before working his coat back on. Just as he was holding onto the bar for support and working his way down it, he stopped to look at Al.
"But..........I need stuff."
To which he slowly pointed a hand out to the door. "What is it? I...I gotta go." He whined.

Melvin just started back. "What?!" He shouted, not hearing Al at all.
"I gotta go, Al." He said as he turned to hold the bar and move to the door.
