There was a nasty gash along his back from the rock that his shoulder as Matt ignored the pain running to keep up with the beast step. This time he leapt as the foot started to lift leaving him clinging to it as it moved through the air as he struggled to gain his footing to keep his grip from slipping as spasms shot up from his right shoulder.

The foot landed with a heavy thud shaking Matt from his grasp and colliding into the ground as debris dusted him again giving him only a few seconds to roll out of the way of the other foot coming down at him.

One last try, Matt told himself as he leapt towards the leg again this time getting enough footing to slowly start scaling upwards towards the other two. Everything on his body ached and protest with each slow movement as he tried to watch his footing, grasping at anything that felt safe enough to clutch to. After a few long seconds he had managed to make some distances towards the window before the leg landed causing the rocks to plummet downwards, the one under his foot dislodging as his grasp was ripped from his fingertips.

Matt plunged towards the ground again, hitting it hard as the breath was knocked out of his lungs.

Rep was good at following orders, this was a surprise to most people who found that Rep did not follow good advice, good hygine or the general level of self preservation most people had. When Otto made the decision, he followed it, wether it was completely ******** crazy or not.

Jumping was something Rep did a lot, as part and parcel of Tracey's influence and out of choice. Fallen angels happened to have a close affinity with controlled falling, and in order to fall you first had to rise.

So he jumped.

Everyone else became irrelevant in the face of scaling the enormous creature, and he did what he could, trying to pay close attention to where he put his feet. All the while he was on edge, expecting to black out and wake up somewhere else again, to have cost everyone something important.

Closer and closer, only to be shaken off at the last minute. He fell, but not all the way.

The setback only made him more ferociously intent as he jumped again, Tracey close in his thoughts and cleared the last of the distance.

Otto and Rep find themselves within a long gallery, its walls shaking and twisting with motion; its many portraits knocked to the floor and sliding around with broken frames and warped canvas hitting their feet as the creature lurches. There is, however, one survivor, pristine and brilliant near the end of the room. A familiar face surrounded by a cascade or black curls, so much like Sasha but that's not the memory that tries to rise. Someone out of a dream is gazing back at them. Behind her is this same room, still and perfect in direct contrast to what surrounds them.

"Oh! Finally, I've been waiting..." The painting's eyes grow wide, as the mouth continues to move. "Otto?! Oh gracious, William, my sweet William, whatever has happened to you?" Distraught, the girlish, familiar woman stands up and braces one hand against the painting's frame as she tries to get a closer look at the two.

Where Matt should have hit the ground, preparing him to be at the worst point of a rock and a hard place, he instead continues to fall. Soft, loose dirt spills into his eyes and mouth but there is a distinct lack of getting crushed by a massive appendage made of animated stonework.

Finally he stops falling, his body held up gently by ropes? Vines? Roots. A face made of wood and bark and moss gazes across from him. It's arms are raised in something that could be an attack but could also easily be an assuring gesture of peace. It's hard to tell when it comes to trees.

Rep struggled to keep his footing, finding it harder than usual without his normal weight. This whole curvy shape thing was difficult in ways he continued to find out. Tracey helped, the axe helping him keep his balance until he was forced to desummon for reasons of space in the strange gallery. Rep had never been one for art, preferring to admire nature and all the beauty and horrors it contained, he found something a little bit insincere and a little bit enraging about looking at someone else’s contorted version of the way things were.

He wasn’t expecting any of the pictures to be moving short of sliding around the floor, but as far as being a hunter went that was for the most part par for the course, it was the person in the picture and the strange and jarring familiarity of her face and voice that really shook him.

He almost automatically responded. “Morgana.” As if this would explain anything. All it explained was the fact that he was feminine looking, it didn’t explain anything else, it didn’t explain all of him and the life he’d ended up in. He found himself looking away, unable to meet the figure’s gaze, feeling as if somehow he’d disappointed someone he couldn’t quite remember. “I..where do I know you from?”

There was suppose to be something hard such as the ground colliding into his falling body along with the cracking of bones being somewhat crushed by the force of impact and then the regrettable splattering of a castle easily stepping on him. Instead he kept falling as his mind couldn’t decipher if it had already died and he was just simple suspended in death or that he was truly still falling to his death and that the ground was further then he could remember.

It dragged on, a few seconds feeling like a lifetime before finally felt something hit him however it felt wrong, as if it wasn’t the ground at all. Matt desperately tried to rub the dirt that stung his eyes, even his mouth was powdered by the taste as he pulled at the end of his scarf to try to wipe the grittiness away spitting what he could out. Blinking slowly a few time he finally looked around to where he had fallen, meeting the gaze of the wooden face giving a startled shuffle backwards.

“Er..hello?” If it wasn’t for the pain he felt from climbing the castle earlier Matt would have sworn he was dead and that the afterlife’s joke of a greeting was sending Disney’s version of Grandmother Willow to spirit him away.

The talking painting might not have spooked him if she didn't strongly resemble Sasha; a woman he really didn't want to meet in a situation such as this. Keeping his balance in the teetering castle, Otto held his ground and worried what the painting of Sasha-Yet-Definitely-Not-Sasha wanted.

Behind her within the frame was the almost a mirror reflection of the castle itself, yet in much better, much firmer, condition. It seemed like a better place to get a grasp on the layout, yet he wasn't desperate enough to venture in without thinking first.

After all, that look-a-like could be anyone.

He flicked his gaze to Rep at first, quirking a brow curiously, before returning his attention to the picture. He began to carefully walk towards it.

"He's fine." He said flippantly of Rep's condition. "Nasty as ever." This woman seemed to know them just fine, so it was likely they'd met once before at least. For now, he tried to assume it was friendly.

"I gotta question.." Taking a risk, he was blunt; "Seen any rainbow locks anywhere?"

"I'm Velda! Your mother!" The woman seemed upset and then tried to clear the expression with a tremulous smile, "Or I would be. If I had lived long enough." The two were sent crashing into the wall as the building made a sudden movement and she gestured hurriedly at the two. "Oh....oh no! Quick, please! Climb through the frame. You two can't stay long, but a few minutes shouldn't hurt. I'll tell you all I know about the locks, just hurry!"

Hello, a voice sounded in his head. I am Cairt, the last protector of this land. Your blood is familiar...it has soaked these grounds. Why have you returned?

Velda? Who was Velda? While he knew what his adoptive mother looked like, he'd only seen a photo of his real mother once. And she'd not looked like this woman at all. So the woman was batshit crazy then.

But it was funny what a walking castle slamming him face first into a wall would do to a man's obstinance. Clutching his nose, with tears in his eyes from the sting, he blindly patted the frame, falling through it without much trouble.

Though he did yelp. And it did in fact sound a bit girly.

Rep was too startled by her comment and the very startling twist of longing that accompanied it to respond before he was tossed into the wall. He'd always wanted a mother who was worth something and in that brief glimpse of time he'd had a mother who was worth so much and it hadn't mattered he'd turned out a ******** embarrassment.

He followed Otto through the frame, normally he wasn't much for leaping into danger this way, but with a fall like that under his belt, one which might have killed him if it wasn't for Tracey he was glad to get somewhere even remotely safe.

"You awright?" he asked Otto hurriedly.

A look crossed the hunter’s face as he slowly gathered that he was still somehow in Scotland, maybe, but where that was Matt didn’t have a remote clue.

“Cairt?...” It was not a familiar name, at least that was somewhat comforting in terms of the few things that he had already met previously in the place.

“I came to help…” The words were feeble and only half a lie, he did return to help Otto agreeing to give what sort of information he could about what had happened previously. Yet that wasn’t the entire truth, almost dying there for the first time had bothered him more so than any of the other incidents that he had come across at Deus. He had returned to face it, maybe tuck it behind him that it at least crush the nightmares that haunted him on nights he couldn’t sleep.
