Avionte was going to die. Horror crossed his face when a geist hybrid approached him, feeling nausea sweep over him. Oh no. Tendrils. Geist. Oh no. Sure, he had tendrils, but that didn't stop him from being throughly spooked by geists, including his own tendrils!
Right. Play the part. Play the part.
He forced a smile as she approached, tensing as they held a shawl out. He looked at it, considering his options. Oh, just touch the damn thing. Tensely, he accepted it, looking hesitantly up.
"Uh... thanks. Seriously." And he was thankful, truly! He shivered into the shawl, releasing a grateful sigh.

Fortunately Charon took Avionte's reaction to xyr as part of his character, otherwise xe would probably have been offended or purposefully picked on him. Instead xe smiled benevolently as the role xe had taken would. "Oh it's no problem, darling. I have fifty more just like it. Not your color, but we do what we can." Xe turned away, flapping xyr feather fan and striding a few paces away before someone approached xyr. Xe appraised the hybrid and then closed xyr lower eyes to smile.
"Well thank you, darling." Charon said, closing the fan. "It's always nice to find an admirer." Xyr smile widened just a bit. "I'm Charon. Quite the exciting event, isn't it? Why I'm practically beside myself with excitement, and such a group we find ourselves among. You seem a bit overwhelmed. Maybe we should find a drink for you, hm?" Charon had no problem taking others under xyr metaphorical wing, and though xyr own tail didn't flick about like that, it wasn't hard to read body language. Even if it was part of the act, it was important to keep to character and Charon had chosen a benevolent and matronly kind of figure. The better to filch anything interesting if it caught xyr eye if the other person didn't expect it after all.

 Cheri Cordial
Cheri visibly jumped when the CEO turned and addressed her. Rats! So much for stealth.
Fidgeting, with her gaze askance, she smoothed down her dress. She held one hand to her collarbone, while the other clasped her wrist. A picture of poorly disguised distress. “Oh... um...” she began. She kept her voice small, shy, and just a hint uncertain. “I dropped my brooch,” she lied.
“I was just trying to find it, but... it's all right! I'm sure it will turn up eventually.” She flashed him a smile, before changing the subject. “You've put together a remarkable event tonight. Thank you so much for having us.” There was a hint of a wink in her voice, some out of character ribbing. After all, he had not actually coordinated the party.
Suddenly Cheri clapped her hands together. Her mouth dropped into an “O” shape, as she turned her attention to AJ. “Oh, excuse me! I didn't mean to interrupt. Cheri Cordial.” Lifting her dress, she brought one foot back, and dipped into a curtsy.

x"Tour?" Seren inquired politely. "Wait, are you the Veruca? Yes, you are. Now I recognize you. It's an honor to meet you." Seren straightened his back, trying to present himself in a comely matter. "I knew that there were celebrities invited, I just hadn't expected any to actually attend. That's Snii Vye for you."Seren was all too happy to talk about his passion. "Spectrefoxes are quite wonderful familiars. The tricky part is making sure they don't bond too strongly with you before you find them a family. It's probably why I own quite a few myself." Seren chuckled at the thought. He then nodded at Veruca's inquiry. "Ah, yes. I help any way that I can. I also give a sizable donation every year. You could say I'm very invested in who might become the next CEO. So sad to see Snii Vye step down but I guess he has to retire at some point."Seren smiled pleasantly at Veruca. "As much as some might say this isn't the time to talk business, feel free to look me up when you have the time." He then produced a business card to hand to the lovely litch. (The card is actually a business card for a pizza store, but on the previously blank back is written " Sombre Farms; Seren: owner and credited spectrefox breeder, seriously; -telephone number-".)

Veruca giggled, and batted her lashes again. "Oh, that's so very kind of you! I'm a major donor, and this is usually suuuuuch a fun party. ... And let's be honest, how could I miss an announcement of this magnitude!" And impish grin slowly crossed her face.
"Who are you betting on? For the next CEO?" The Litch loved gossip, and perhaps Seren was in the postion to have some. Deep down, Veruca was already congratulating herself on choosing to come to this party. There were some serious hotties here.
She reached out and graciously accepted the business card. "Oooh, I'll be sure to look you up when I'm in the market for a Spectrefox!" The Litch glanced over at the little huddle Snii Vye seemed to be enveloped with admirers.
"I dare say, I think we're missing out on something!" She shot Seren a grin, and offered him her arm. "I think we're both important enough to snag a little bit of his time, don't you?"

Arachnne pretended to blush again at the compliment that Luno had given her as he kissed her hand. Arachnne had to try really hard not to laugh they were both playing this so over the top it was so funny. Ara almost laughed out loud but she was determined to stay in character so she could have fun at this event. So that meant, pretending she was attracted to Luno when her character was just using him. Ara herself thought that Luno was actually rather cute, so maybe she would talk to him after the party was over. "You darling are truly a treasure." She batted her eyelashes at him in a coy gesture. Ara didn't need anyone telling her that she was sexy she knew she was. Long red dress with a slit up the one side where her leg could peek through. Dress classy enough to not be slutty but daring enough to be hot. Ara nodded and then said "Yes this night is full of nerves isn't it, meeting your father, finding out who the new CEO will be..." Ara trailed off trying to see if Luno would tell her if his father was naming him the new CEO.

Fridtjof was given an all-too fake smile. Rather, a cheesy grin. the same was afforded to Snii Vye, though it was much less cheesy and just a bit more serious.
"No worries old chap. As I've said, you always have everyone's best interests at...in...in? At? At heart!" Oh no, AJ had to break character momentarily to fight to find the right word. But, as quickly as he had stumbled, he just as quickly straightened up as he caught sight of Lizbet.
His face seemed to pale significantly, but he once again fought to stay completely...well, straight. He even managed to blush a bit, tipping his hat in her direction. However, anything further was interrupted by Cheri Cordial introducing herself. With a wiggle of his mustache (so glorious) he tipped his hat to her as well, followed by a dashing smile.
"AJ." He introduced himself shortly. No WAY was anyone going to know his whole name here...And that wasn't important. "What an amazing gathring...And so many beautiful ladies around." He made a very obvious look towards Lizbet at his last statement.

Ah! This was it! A quick moment looking at the overly-unctuous actions on her counterparts behalf gave the passionate LARPer the perfect opportunity to follow the instructions they'd so carefully rehearsed and memorized. for their character!
Lizbet's polite expression curled, quickly icing over to a cold rage.
"You have some nerve, you patch-faced cur," she started, voice starting off stage-quiet, her words slow and clipped at first.
"How dare you to speak to any person in a tone of voice like that– have you no respect? Cheri Cordial is my daughter," she exclaimed, an open hand moving to gesture, "And you know full well that Mr. Vye and I have separated, and you have the nerve to make such a disrespectful comment in front of us?"
Part of Lizbet was disappointed she hadn't grabbed one of the drinks from the waiters circulating around– now would have been a perfect time to throw it in his face. Still, they hadn't had the opportunity to practice, and she wasn't sure if his clothing was properly charmed to not permanently stain. Ah, well, she rationalized to herself, It was probably just dyed juice anyways, instead of wine. Instead, she turned, letting the fur coat draped around her elbows spin a wide, glorious arc– and moved to storm away.

x xSeren nodded, in full agreement with Veruca's statement. " Of course~ I'm sure this event has drawn in a lot of people, all eager to find out." Seren tapped his finger to his chin, pretending to contemplate her question. "Hard to say. I wonder if it might end up being AJ, so long as he doesn't stick his foot in his mouth." The geist then leaned in conspiratorially, "But I wouldn't put out the idea of a dark horse."Seren looked over at the host and his group before taking Veruca's arm. "You're quite right. Why should we be left out of the fun?" Delicately, Seren moved Veruca and himself closer to Snii Vye. However, once they were within earshot, he stopped short. It appeared that the ex Mrs. Snii Vye was having a fit right before everyone. He watched as the chimera turned and stormed off. "Or perhaps we shan't," Seren muttered to himself.

With the uncalled for behavior of his ex-wife Lizbet now displayed, Snii Vye felt it necessary to make a quick speech to remind everyone how one was to behave. He shouldn't let his anger get to him, but it was hard when Lizbet pulled stuff like that. AJ hadn't done anything wrong. Lizbet had just been too overprotective! She hadn't even needed to mention the fact that he and her had separated. It had no place in the conversation to begin with! Once back on stage, he looked down at this three spectrefoxes who were now resting at his feet. Even the three of them were able to stay calm tonight, even though he knew the three loved to fight from time to time. Why couldn't nightmares and daydreams do something like that? Why couldn't they simply not fight? "I would like to make a quick announcement to remind everyone of how one is conduct their behavior at one of these events. It has come to my attention that some-," he gave a small glare to Lizbet before letting out a genuine sigh and continuing on as normal. He had to forgive her for what had just happened. He had to forgive her for everything she had done ", feel the need to express their aggression and be immature in how they approach and response to others. This is not the time nor place for such. If there are hard feelings between some of those here tonight, set that aside. That even includes my own anger. We are here to celebrate all the great things we have all done for this company, and to look ahead on what we will do still. This is the night we put feelings of hate aside and simply celebrate the past, and rejoice in the future. Just for the night, set those emotions aside and simply think upon what we have all done, and what we have yet to do. Thank you everyone. He then made his way down from the stage, letting out another sigh. He honestly had wished he hadn't of needed to do that, but with how Lizbet was acting he knew it had to be done. The hybrid had barely been able to hold back Lizbet's name to shame her for her actions, but simply glaring at her would get the point across. He had to be the bigger man in this ongoing fight between them.

With his speech now done, Snii Vye looked around for his son to give him a word, wishing to speak to him for a bit. Even if he did feel his some was immature at times, he still cared deeply for him and wished the very best for him. It was then he noticed his son was with a lady, wondering if this was that 'certain' lady he had heard a few rumors about. Not bad rumors of course! Just simply that his son was dating her! He had hoped to be meeting her soon, and maybe now was his chance? "Luno," Snii Vye exclaimed as he moved over to his son, giving a bow to the lady ", And dear lady. I was hoping to speak to you for a little bit Luno."

After gliding closer to the main group, Veruca had an excellent view of the ... outburst. She raised on eyebrow, and stayed at what she imagined to be a respectful distance. That was quite the dirty laundry being aired! She tried to compose her face, but she couldn't help smirking at Seren.
And then Snii Vye took the stage. Veruca's mouth fell slightly agape. "Well, I think we can cross one person off the potential heir list..." Still, the Litch was surprised by the entire outburst and on stage announcement. And now Snii Vye appeared to be off with his son.
How ever was she going to get an introduction in?

Hi, everyone! I've decided to close the Murder Mystery due to some issues with the game itself. A good handful of people have been ignoring instructions, ignoring portions of instructions, not responding to plot-important actions performed towards them for over a week, and generally not reading each others' posts and understanding who is talking to who or where they are in the room.
I'd like to state that I tried to make it very clear that this event was character-driven, rather than staff-driven. I'm okay with a slow pace, but I am not okay with people flat out forgetting they are participating, or ignoring interactions for over a week in a game that was supposed to take 3 days maximum.
I'd also like to state that everyone posted a form stating that they would be around for the duration of the event (most weren't, at least not for the predetermined, scheduled time), and that they would be okay with being the murderer or a victim. I'm disappointed in the general lack of activity I've had in this event, and keeping the thread open with no progress is very frustrating and stressful to me. The fact that we didn't even get to the first murder either says something about the activity in the game, or about how it's structured.
I'm definitely going back to the drawing board regarding the running of this game. Perhaps, in the future, I'll try running it on Discord or in a more fast-paced setting. This was definitely an experimental event, and I'd like to thank anyone who participated regardless of the issues we've run into! I'll have participation prizes shortly to hand out to those who actually posted and made an effort toward the game.
Thanks!
