The_Muffin_Puppy As Vee touched the egg Iridescent immediately reached out to encompass her in their warm light. At her question the light wavered as they were taken by surprise. Iridescent hadn't expected to be asked what they wanted. For a moment there was a flash of teeth and something savage could be seen past the light. As quickly as it appeared it was smothered underneath that warm glow. Why, Iridescent just wanted to be happy, same as everyone. To find the person suited for them. A person they could love and adore without reserve. The light coiled around Vee, was Vee that person? Iridescent's warm touch began to gently leaf through Vee's mind. She was so determined, this fire inside her. To be seen. To be known. The young mind lingered on this ambition, seemingly transfixed, until it realised where it came from that is. Iridescent saw the memories of their sibling, prying until they uncovered the interactions that Vee had had with the other eggs. Jealousy flashed through the young mind briefly until that too was obstructed by another wave of warmth and praise. It held the images of Lightning and Daydream close, content to let the memory of Noctis slip away. So, you had enjoyed speaking with their siblings then? What had that been? Vee frowned; the feeling of teeth had been brief, so brief she could almost think she'd imagined it if it hadn't been so powerful. Though the warmth of its welcome flooded back quickly Vee eyed the egg guardedly though she didn't try to stop it from moving through her mind. Could she do that even if she wanted to? She wasn't actually sure, she- Oh, and it didn't like that she'd met the others? Vee's frown deepened. Yes, she'd liked Daydream - it'd seemed fun and adventurous - and she'd felt as though she'd met a soul she understood in Lightning so she'd liked meeting them too but Iridescent... What it was telling her wasn't the truth, or at the very least it wasn't the whole truth. Why didn't it like her asking it questions? Did it not want to think about the answer itself or was it hiding something? It felt to her like it was hiding something.

The_Muffin_Puppy Evening? Daydream thought it was morning? It was dreadfully hard to tell when you were in an egg. Mother said that you could tell time by the sun, but Daydream had never seen the sun. It sounded like a pleasant thing. Anyway, hello! Daydream's mind links with Joscelin's as a mass of swirling tendrils, working their way into all the corners of his mind athat once. You're from very far away, aren't you? Daydream examines the image of Telgar Hold. That wasn't here, Daydream had a fairly good idea of where here was now thanks to their many visitors the previous day. Or was it today? Before the candidate could ask the question Daydream was off again. So what was there like? What places had Joscelin been to? Hmm ooh, dear. "Apologies, I was a bit distracted," Joscelin replied softly. It was morning, and hmm. "The sun is very pleasant thing, it is warm and provides us with all sorts of important things." Food, light, warmth, life. "I am, and hmm." Places? Not many, Telgar was mountainous, snow touched and icy. He recalled the lonely height of the peeks dwindling down and sun touched bright. The wrenching feel in his gut of leaving behind his home and the thrill of being in the air and the sublime of seeing Telgar laid out in a way that wasn't a cavernous maze of rooms carved into a cliff. The sure footed goats that clambered up the sides and the cool darkness of the mines and the sharp smell of metal and dust.

Quote: Hello, Iskosian. The sensation that Iskosian feels is akin to have a large fur dropped on him. It is thick, warm and slightly heavy. Enfolding is doing alright. Not much is happening right now, but that's okay. They hear things are going to get very exciting soon, so probably best to enjoy the quiet while they can. The mind seems intent on just that. The feeling of a leisurely stretch fills Iskosian's mind. How're you? Enfolding asks pleasantly. The mind is extremely relaxed, and gives the impression of lounging as it waits patiently for an answer. Don't feel the need to rush or anything. There's plenty of time. This egg was not as taxing on Iskosian's mind and he sighed. A little more pleasant to interact with... Not that Average had been unpleasant, just intense. He felt very cozy and relaxed. I am well. This is all very strange to me. I am not used to talking inside my head. Or having someone else inside of it. Isko was a bit more happy talking to Enfolding Egg. So far, you are only the second egg I've talked to today. We're allowed to come back a couple times. I guess to get used friendly with you. He ran a finger along the shell.

Quote: Oh, Iridescent is certain that brave is the right word. Shame or disappointment, they were both terribly upsetting emotions to deal with. Iridescent was aware of the dire situation, yes. It only made Endalil braver, surely? There was so much pressure to succeed. The warm touch moved through his mind again. What would your father think if you should not impress? Being the son of a rider. Those were some big boots to fill. So many avenues for failure. It was a big risk, wasn't it? Iridescent listens intently to Endalil talk of Iskosian. Oh, Endalil, you are such a sweet boy. Iridescent curls their warmth closer around the candidate. To be so considerate of others that are struggling. So kind. So selfless. Perhaps this Iskosian didn't want to be friends, but Endalil had Iridescent. Iridescent wanted to be Endalil's friend. Tell Iridescent more about yourself, sweet boy. Endalil shrugged again. He was trying not to be vain nor was he trying to be humble. He was simply being himself. Normally a bit of a prankster, he understood how serious the situation was this time. "I know F'liel and our Weyrleader, D'lana want me to Impress. I would love to Impress. I love talking with Vesunth, she's my father's green. But I don't think he would be disappointed. My mother never Impressed. And if I don't make this clutch, I plan on going into dragon healing. I want to solve the mystery of this illness that hurts those already here." He paused, letting his thoughts show. The serious side to the jokester. The focus he had already for trying to make the dragons get better. "I love fun and games, but this is what is needed right now."
He allowed the egg to almost, croon at him. He imagined his/her eyes a happy green, the slow whirl of eyes. Vesunth's eyes were some times the same shade of her eyes as she was basking in the sun or being scratched. "Not everyone is a talker. He seems to be a good person, he is very good to the little blue that follows him around and he is polite. I hope he gets settled here at the Weyr. I feel like he could Impress as well. But, I am not a dragon so I don't know anything for sure."

Quote: The rush of damp that heralds Lamenting's presence swamps Moluli. The egg had been sobbing to itself, but when the candidate's hand met their shell they swung out to latch onto her mind. Lamenting sobbed, directionless for a moment, until they looked into Moluli's head. Was that their mother?! Oh no! She looked positively dreadful. Lamenting began to wail, hard enough that Moluli may even be convinced she can hear it. Their mother was so sick! She had kept it hidden from them so well! Mother was always so lovely, was this why she sounded tired sometimes?! Lamenting practically shook with the strength of their crying as they clung to Moluli. Their mind spilled over into hers and they found even more reason to cry. Oh no! Moluli had lost her mother and her father! Lamenting didn't entirely understand the concept of fathers, but they wailed none the less, pulling the girl's mind into a crushing and damp embrace. Poor Moluli, to lose them and then have to come all this way! She had to glance at her shoulder to be sure that the feeling of a damp shoulder really was just a feeling. Moluli felt guilty about causing the dragonet inside Lamenting more grief. She wouldn't say it would be alright. Just like her parents and the adults had promised about her parent's dragons. It hadn't been. The candidate glance around as she patted the egg to try to sooth the dragonet. For surely the others could hear it. When she saw no one looking at them, she turned her attention back to the egg. Your mother is strong for you. Chin up little one. The mention of her parents made her chin quiver. Yes she'd lost them, but she still held them in her heart. They gave her courage. She tried to pass some of that courage onto the egg. Don't worry little one. You be strong and find yours when you hatch. It felt like she had to extract herself from the egg's mental embrace. She took a deep breath to shake off the last of the sadness before she approached the next egg. Lightning was next. Moluli took a moment to center herself before reaching her fingers to cress the boldly marked shell.

The_Muffin_Puppy No, not really. Snowdrift's reply sounds distant, as though being spoken from far away and the words carried to Zeeana on the wind. Their mother is very good at attending to them. Piling on sand when they're cold, taking it off when they get too warm. It's amicable. The young mind of Snowdrift begins to slowly wander closer, staying a cautious distance away. They don't merge with Zeeana's mind, instead moving around it and looking from a distance. Hmm. Snowdrift seems to peer at the candidate for a long while. Zeeana is a... cheerful sort. The kind to reach out to others, the kind to help others when needed. Well, there are those that would consider that a good trait, they supposed. Needs to keep busy. Well, that at least is a useful trait. It's a good way to get things done. As Snowdrift's assessment goes on and they make comments and observations, it becomes obvious that this isn't a conversation. They don't seem to be actively trying to communicate with Zeeana at all, just looking and judging. Hmm. Untidy. That statement carries an obvious note of displeasure in the young mind. Snowdrift looks over memories of piles of things with a growing distaste, before sharply pushing the images away to continue looking. That was good. She was glad that the little one inside was comfortable. She waited to see if the egg had any thing else to say, and she got a sense that it was looking her over. It wasn't really interacting with her, more like making comments, and Zee listened. She was aware of her faults, and it seemed that the egg really dislike how unneat she was. She wasn't sure if she liked the egg judging her for that, but she knew that it was just trying to make sure that they found the right person. Still. "Thanks for looking me over." She said, and then moved on. There were still other eggs to greet, and she walked over to the Average Egg. She touched it careful. "Hello there."

The_Muffin_Puppy There was a brief flicker of irritation at Vee's train of thought, before Iridescent released the images of Daydream and Lightning. Come now, Vee, don't be like this. Iridescent wraps their light ever closer around the candidate. Why all the suspicion? Iridescent was just curious about what she had been doing so far. Why bother talking about Iridescent? Wasn't talking about her the reason that they were here? So that Iridescent could decide who was the best fit for them? They already knew exactly who they were. It wasn't like Vee or any of the other candidate's really had a say in the matter. Their time was limited and so questions about Iridescent just seemed like a waste of time, didn't she think so? They should really focus on Vee. How strong and determined she was. To have come so far, alone, and at such a young age. It was no mean feat. Many would have no doubt shied away from the things that Vee had needed to do to survive, but that just showed her strength. There was a warm feeling of approval from Iridescent. The strength to make unpleasant choices to get where you needed to go. Uh-hu, right. Iridescent wanted to know why the suspicion? Vee offered it exhibit A, all the stuff about her that it had then gone on to praise. Dumb trusting Holdless wound up as dead Holdless pretty quick, when you saw things that didn't add up you questioned it and you were on your guard. She guessed it did have a point about why they were here but she still wanted to know why it was being so evasive. Vee smoothed a hand down the pretty shining shell and started to smirk; was her curiosity about Iridescent not one of her fine qualities? You had to stick your nose into things to get where you needed, or wanted, to go too.

The_Muffin_Puppy Daydream eagerly examines the images of mountains. It was alright, there was still plenty of time for Joscelin to see these places. Especially if a dragon were to choose him. Daydream knows how dragons travel now and they are very excited to be one. They will get to go to so many places. Sights, sounds and smells are presented to Joscelin as though they are a portfolio, a collection of things that Daydream has gathered from all their other visitors. None of the images are through a dragon's eyes, but Daydream has every intention of seeking out and visiting every single one of them. The young mind methodically gathers the details of Telgar's mountains and adds it to their collection, even remembering to add the detail of the goats. So, seeing as Joscelin hasn't been many places, are there any places that he would like to go? Joscelin accepted the images, linger slightly on a few, fingers itching to sketch and capture them on paper... Oo. "Where I would like to go?" He questioned, considering, gently stroking the shell in thought. "Well Home, but Igen is near by and it is a vast desert and can you just imagine the expanse of shifting sands and the colors?" Warm nature colors and a land that changed with the winds and the stretching expanses of skyline. "Further down is Keroon and it is suppose to be grassland." "After that .. hmm, maybe Ista or Nerat. Not to say we can't just follow the coast back to Fort and see both and more. I've always wanted to see the ocean."

The_Muffin_Puppy Daydream giggles slightly as they listen to Joscelin's suggestions. Those sound like places worth visiting. When Joscelin mentioned wanting to have seen the ocean, Daydream began to hastily dig through their collection. They threw up multiple images, which they haphazardly stitched together. The dragon had no concept of what the sea really looked like, or what anything really looked like, so they weren't to know that the image they presented actually wasn't a real place. Stormy waters gave way to calm with no gradient and the sky was night in some places and day in others. The cliffs were of different rocks that had no business being together and the geography didn't match any known place on Pern. Still Daydream pulled out the memory of the smell of the sea, and the rushing sounds of waves. Here! This was the sea! Now Joscelin could see it! Joscelin grinned, taking in the patchwork sea and there was the smell of salt and water and the sounds of waves. "Thank you, that is beautiful." He said softly and stepped aside, the sound of waves still slightly ringing in his head. He decided to stay close, reaching out to greet the Layered Egg. "Good morning." He said softly, setting a hand on the shell and gave a soft surprised sound at the ridges underneath his fingertips. Also warmth and that was rather pleasant.

Quote: Enfolding imagines that must be very confusing if it is not what you're used to. They have never communicated another way, but they attempt to understand why it would be difficult to switch. The young mind listened pleasantly to Iskosian, the feeling of them nodding along drifting over the temporary bond. That made sense. Some of Enfolding's siblings could be very intense to communicate with. Iskosian should make sure he is adequately rested for the experience. If it is taxing then he would not want to make it worse by being tired. Rest was very important, Enfolding thinks that some of his clutchmates forget that a lot. Still, Iskosian was welcome to visit Enfolding and be friendly with them, they liked friendly. It was nice to just have a pleasant conversation with Enfolding. Isko nodded along in agreement with what it was conveying. Probably after speaking with Enfolding, he was going to take a break. Come back later on. Thank you for being so nice and understanding.. I hope I get to meet you once you hatch.Iskosian stepped back and gave a little bow. You are very considerate for one still in the shell. Turning around, he saw some candidates coming and going off the Sands. Iskosian figured it would be best to give himself a break for before talking with other eggs.

The_Muffin_Puppy Iridescent was quiet for a long while, their light gently pulsating as they contemplated Vee. There was something endearing about the candidate. And, frustrating as her prying was, Iridescent had to admire the skills that kept her alive. She was right, blindly trusting was never wise, but really, what threat could an egg holding a baby dragon possibly be? Finally the feeling of a sly smile flickered through the warm light and Iridescent coiled around Vee once again. Very well, strong girl, you want to be curious? So be it. Just remember where curiosity got the feline. Vee may have two questions. Only two mind, and Iridescent will answer them with complete honesty. Promise. That was a bit more like it! A sharp grin spread across Vee's sharp features and she sent the egg a feeling of agreement; they had a deal. What to ask though? Two questions and two questions only. She should ask questions that might tell her if they might be right for one another so.... Did Iridescent want to be powerful? The feeling of Vee's question didn't allow for misinterpretation about physical prowess; what she wanted to know was if Iridescent had designs on high rank, or influence gained through other means.

Quote: That is very selfless of you Endalil. Not many would seek to help dragons to such an extent after having been rejected by them. It was admirable, that Endalil was willing to put aside his own wants and fun loving to do what needed to be done. Iridescent radiated with warmth at the candidate's intentions. That he had a plan past this hatching was impressive enough really. Iridescent seemed to nod pleasantly along to Endalil's assessment of Iskosian, intently paying attention to every detail. It was kind of Endalil to be so concerned for another person. Endalil laughed. "You keep talking like that and you are liable to inflate my ego quite nicely. Thank you. I don't think it's a matter of rejection. But perhaps because I'm from the Weyr, I think different than others. Dragons only get one chance at this, unlike us people who can have several chances."
He grimaced for a moment. "Or, there used to be a time for several chances. Right now, everything is up in the air with Impressions. Better to be prepared for what's around the corner than stumble and fall, smash your face." Endalil pushed a picture of a very angry, crumpled person into his mind. "I don't want to be that person." Again, Endalil shrugged. "Well, time will only tell with this clutch. Best of luck to all of us, right? If I may, I would like to visit with some of your other clutch mates. Thank you for such a pleasant talk."

The_Muffin_Puppy Hello. Average's response is neutral in response to the candidate's seeking touch. They glanced at her memories and saw her interaction with Snowdrift and her response. Yes, they could be a little like that sometimes. Judgemental. They liked things a certain way you see, and looked at everyone that way, Zeeana shouldn't take it too personally. She would not get that sort of thing from Average mind. They didn't judge people. You were the way that you were, untidy, unsure of whether you wanted to be here, compassionate. Average could see all of it and their response was complete neutrality. That was good to know. People could be like that as well, sure in what they thought and thinking that others needed to fall by the same standards. She was appreciative of the eggs non-judgement, though it did make her wonder a little. Was the one inside this neutral towards everyone? It was nice though, and she remained by the egg for a little longer. Still, there were others of the clutch to see, and she could always come back later if she wanted. "Thanks." She moved on, going over to the Lightning Egg. It was certainly stunning, and she ran her hand down the bright streak on the shell. "Hi." Would this one's personality be as bright as this shell?

The_Muffin_Puppy Ugh, was it really? Already? Layered seems to groan for a long moment. Surely it couldn't be morning already. Were they to receive another procession of seeking hands and questioning minds again today? It certainly seemed so. They were so tired. Why did this have to be happening now? The young mind curls in on itself in sleepy protest. Go on then. What do you want? Make it quick though, Layered would rather not have to stay awake. "Apologies then, I didn't mean to wake you up," Joscelin replied to the sleepy tired feel of the hatchling inside. "Two things, Your shell is very lovely and have a good nap." He removed his hand from the shell, letting the hatchling return to their dreams. So tired. The soft blue shell across from Layered called and Joscelin walked over to settle a hand on the shell of Average . "I hope I am not disturbing your sleep," he said softly. "And good morning."

Quote: The pressure that Lightning gave off began to build in Moluli before her fingers had even reached their shell. The dragon rushed into her mind with a crackle of electricity. Hello! Their greeting was loud and feels like a mental blow, the clap resonating through Moluli's body. The dragon is alive, sparking with electricity and energy, and just so eager to get going. Who are you? The young mind probes and Moluli, but seems to be in such a hurry that they don't actually register the things they see in the thoughts and memories they handle. What do you want? Who do you want to be? What do you wish to accomplish? The egg radiates with ambition, seeking to find something similar in the candidate. It was as though the egg knew she was coming. Her fingers twitched with the reach of the dragonet inside Lightning. When her fingers touched, the dragonet wasted no time in greeting her. Loudly. Ow she thought. Gently little one, gently. Lightning seemed to be a speed reader. She did like the high energy, but she wasn't sure she'd actually be able to keep up with it. I am Moluli. Oh. Those are tough questions. I want to be a dragonrider. Guess I haven't thought further than that since it depends upon me Impressing a cutie like you first. What was the point of making grand plans when she might never become a dragonrider? Moluli felt she might have let the ambition this egg had down. All she really wanted was to be a dragonrider like her parents. Once that was accomplished maybe she could pick a new goal. I hope you find one who matches you perfectly. The candidate removed her hand from the energies of Lightning. Who next? Her eyes roamed over the clutch. The big brown shell of Enfolding caught her eye. She slipped between the two eggs and rested her hand upon its shell.
