"I'd been sneaking in and out of the dorms for longer than he and I had been dating." He knew that was true, but when he paused for a moment to think about who he'd been dating he hit a block, brow furrowing as his head twinged. He hadn't been interested in dating anyone at first-- He'd thought he was interested in Luc for a while.

Arin brought his hand up, brushing his fingers through his hair. He could feel a headache forming behind his eyes; too much too fast. "Probably a good thing neither of us ever caught the other sneaking in or out. I don't think I would've been able to lie to you."

"Nothing that I wouldn't have deserved at the time, I'm sure. I-- I wish I could remember enough to explain everything to you the way I did to your cousin. I'd like to think that if I hadn't been worth redeeming she wouldn't have tried to save me. I'm sure she's told you that, though..."

He closed his eyes as he leaned in against the counter, trying to rack his brain again. "I was in a bad place. I remember that much... Feeling lower than I'd felt in a while and then this guy showed up and asked me if I wanted to be a part of something bigger, something better. I couldn't tell you what happened after that, but for a while things were alright again."

That was when everything started to get hazy. He knew the lack of memories about his powered life were from the purification, but everything else... He hadn't been able to stay powered up long enough to heal as quickly as he could have otherwise. It hadn't been safe and some of those memories were probably gone for good.

"She got me to the hospital because I was a friend. She and Fiona orchestrated my shift into this life because she saw something worth redeeming. I can't say that same spark is in everyone, but-- Cordelia told me that I'd said there were good people on that side of the fence." Both Cordelia and Fiona seemed to think that he'd been one of them.

"I can still say with full honesty that none of this makes any sense at all, but I've been finding my way and, with luck, I can be a light in the dark for others. Sounds cheesy as ********, doesn't it?" He flashed Luc a grin.

"So maybe we try to help each other understand a little bit more? Piece together what we can out of what does make sense and bugger the rest." He straightened out as he lifted his cup, taking a slow sip. The warmth gave him something else to focus on, easing the pain between his eyes a little bit.

"Since when is standing in a room with you public? Since you got a cat?" he teased.

"There's a lot that I've said since we walked into your apartment that I wouldn't say in public; secret identities to protect and all, right?" He smirked, setting his cup down after taking another sip. "For what it's worth, Luc, I'm glad you know now and I'm glad you're back in town, even if your cousin could've gone about bringing you back here a little bit better."

He signed for the pizzas and brought them over to the table to take a seat. The pizza smelled fantastic and once both he and Luc were settled the chatter continued. For all that Fiona and Cordelia had been worried about them initially, they at least seemed to be off to a good start reconnecting with each other on their own.
