The elder mare stared back at the younger one with softened eyes. “I may do so.” She bobbed her head once. Eve had quite enjoyed the company of Aiyana and Yamka. It was not often that she connected with another so easily. Truly a blessing for her on this night. I wouldn’t be against the Spirits guiding me back here one day. She told herself, though out loud she said, “The Spirits are known for their whims of fancy. I wouldn’t be surprised if I were to find myself in these lands once again. When that day, if it is to be, arrives then I shall certainly remember your words.” The corner of her muzzle turned up in a teasing grin. “Perhaps I would then have a chance to meet the star whom stole your heart for his.”

Turning about, Eve did a quick calculation of their location. If she were to ever come back, she would know the area by sight and could then swiftly determine the easterly direction Aiyana had mentioned. After committing it to memory, the purple and black mare looked back over her shoulder to the small group. “Please take care of yourself on your way back to your family. While I am certain you have insurances, there is no substitution for caution and awareness.” Her glowing eyes drifted down to the other’s bulging belly. “And I wish you all the happiness with your little ones. If there is one piece of advice that I need impart, it is this- do not become so overlook the small moments. Cherish every second you have with them because the time will surely pass quickly. Even more so that you would think possible.”

Eve’s smile grew slightly while she spoke, her voice gentle in its tone. Oh how she wished that she her children were still foals. Time had flown by it seemed. One moment they were but foals and then, in the blink of an eye, they became full grown stallions and mares. Their childish frolicking exchanged for more adult pleasures and adventures. I truly miss those days… She sighed inwardly. Shaking her head, Eve cleared her mind of those thoughts. Perhaps she would have foals again one day, but there was no point in dwelling on such matters at the moment. Glowing silver orbs met with Aiyana’s vibrant green ones once again. “Until we meet again.” She inclined her head briefly before starting off in her chosen direction, calling out, “Come along, Wraith.”

When she had nearly reached the edge of the trees, she came to a halt and shifted sideways so that she could see behind her. “Be safe, my friend.” A flicker of movement among the foliage denoted her bonded’s approach. “Do we haaave to go?” The little ferret groaned. His expression was crestfallen at the prospect of having to depart from their new friends so soon, and subsequently missing out on the chance to fly. “I was gonna learn to fly!” “That would be some trick indeed.” Eve chuckled kindly. She lowered her head to be closer to his level. “Do not fret, little one. I am certain we will see them again. Then perhaps Yamka might aid you in your wish.” With a wink, the mare started walking again. To where they were heading, she had not a clue. Only the Spirits could say. Wherever it was, however, she was sure it would be the first step in the path back.
