She gaped. "Wait my eyes change? What d'they look like?"
She ... had not attempted using the ability while looking at a mirror. She only knew her tattoo glowed a little and that she got the gut feeling. "It think it's some kinda ... eyesight thing. I can tell yer magic." She waved her hands. "I mean I knew that but not just you, anyone. I look at people and I just get this ... feelin'."

"Yellow and pink. Kind of," Shun shrugged. He tilted his head at her, furrowing his brow.
"Can you see entrances to Other Ashdown and back?"

Chel scratched her cheek and looked around, reaching over the back of the bench to see behind her as well.
"Mm. F'there are any around here, I don't see none?" Chel really did not know how her power worked, but she could pretend.

"Hm..."
Well being able to detect magic could be useful, he supposed. Being able to see the openings would be better. There might be more to it than she was aware about.
"Did he ask for anything in return? Things rarely come without a cost of some sort."

"He just wanted t'use my eyes t'see into Ashdown. He's just curious. He even said he wants t'help our 'cause he doesn't like the court." Not his exact wording, but close enough.
She blinked a few times and her vision cleared. Her head felt a little dizzy after, but she imagined it was just a side effect of switching eyes. She didn't bother telling Shun because she didn't think it was important. "Pretty cheap fer cool eyes, I think."

"The court is not exactly against our cause, you know. Especially since a few of us are a part of it now," he pointed out. Shun shook his head to himself as he finished eating.
"So can it see through your eyes right now?" he asked, furrowing his brow. That made him feel slightly uncomfortable. She was effectively spying for the thing.

Chel stayed quiet on the topic of the court. Shun may have sided with them, but Che still harbored the belief that they were an enemy just the same as The Enemy. Even some part of her doubted Shun's actions. She didn't want to go through this a murderer.
"I guess so," she said shortly, eyebrows furrowed. "Someone could be spyin' through yer necklace just the same."

Chel seemed convinced that the things they received were on the same level, but they really, really weren't.
"If that were somehow the case, it would see the inside of my shirt 99% of the time," he stated flatly. He let out a frustrated sigh, "Do you honestly think there is no risk to just accepting something like that? There is a difference between Heliodora, a known ally who effectively gave her life for thousands of years for our sake, and an unknown, but apparently powerful creature you just happened to have run into."

"That's-" She sank down further on the bench. "I don't like bein' lectured." They didn't know anything about Heliodora except what had been told. Chel had yet to even see the girl, ;et alone hear about these thousands of years of sacrifice. As far as Chel was concerned, she was just as much of a mystery as All Seeing was. Actually, she was more of a mystery; All Seeing had talked to her and showed her interesting things and seemed genuinely curious of their world.
"M'not a kid." The frustrated sigh on his part wasn't helping her feel any less confident about her decision. "An' I don't get why you get t'decide who's trustworthy and who ain't."

Shun slowly shook his head. So far, he's had a pretty decent track record of who to trust and not to trust.
"Then do what you will."
If he was wrong about this, then there was no real difference. But if he was right to err on the side of caution here...
Well then that was just one more mess to clean up later. Another case of people not listening to him for the worse.
Packing up the now-empty tupperware, the detective got up to his feet.
"Is that all?"

"Shuuun," she said in a somewhat exasperated tone. "Don't just walk away like that."
She stayed on the bench for the moment and put her head on her knees. "'Course I've thought 'bout it bein' bad. But if it helps ... I don't mind me bein' the one t'get ********>

Shun slowly shook his head.
"That is with the assumption that this will only affect you in the end. It may. But it could very well may not."
It was a pretty big assumption. Especially when this creature supposedly wanted to look into regular Ashdown.

She knew it was a moot point by now, but so was his necklace. His necklace could very well be draining his soul to fuel Melany's life force or something crazy just the same. Neither of them really understood these magical gifts and for him to act like he was the authority on the matter drove Chel i n s a n e.
"It'll be fine," Chel said, standing up from the bench finally. "M'sorry I bothered you at work fer this." At this point, she was upset she'd told him at all. She'd only wanted to help.

Shun just walked off without another word. There was no point in continuing this conversation. This was just like the ball, or the theater. The people he was trying to convince were just too ignorant for their own good. She frustrated him. They all did.
