The knife would return, that same sensation of something watching him with amusement. It was a playful feeling and, for a moment, it seemed like the shadows might have kept the blade.
They did not when Gloom was swatting at them briefly. Once he did that, once the blade was back in Shun's hand, the shadows darkened around them. There was not a bit of light to see and the entire area was covered.
Or it was for a moment, at least, and then the shadows lightened back to normal and it was clearly Ashdown not
other ashdown they were now in. Gloom's weight upon Shun's shoulders changed, just as the feel of silky shadows turned to cool fur.
"Y'already back," he told him, hopping down off of his shoulders and sitting down on the pavement. Gloom rubbed at an ear with a paw. "The mine mine mine don't like surprises. If y'see them again, just surprise them."
