Struggling to stand, Oblivion struggled to take a step towards Ree, "It will be mine.." he whispered, his eyes going wide as a grin spread across his face, reaching a hand out to reach or him. As the light washed over him again, his look of need turned into one of horror, "No - thirty years of planning - no...! No!" He shouted, taking several more steps towards Ree, trying to get his hands on his neck, trying to choke him out, but the damage from the Soul light was too much. As it took hold of him and pierced his body and his soul - and the soul of Shogu - his body started to fall apart, flecks of dust wafting off of him.

"Thirty years..and so many dead...you...you will suffer..." He whispered before his body completely turned to ash.

Laying on the ground just far enough away, Zephyr blocked his eyes again from the light, coughing weakly as it subsided. Looking over to the two, specifically Oblivion, he watched warily as the original soul that had resided with him died. Weakly starting to laugh, the laughter turned into a coughing fit, one that was pretty rough as he clutched his chest where the original stab wound was. Coughing more, he eventually coughed up the antiqued silver ring with the blood-red soul gem onto the ground, covered in blood. "O-ow.." he muttered weakly.

The aura within the ring glowed softly like a burning ember, unharmed and did not seem to go out, only held in place in time as the color shifted and swirled on its own from its home within the blood-red gem.

Ree let go of the swords and stumbled backwards as the body in front of him literally just changed to ash. That wasn't ....what happened? What HAPPENED?! Thirty years planning? And so many dead... that couldn't have been about Ashral and her brother....

He was shaking as he stared at where the body of the blonde had been, unable to wrap his head around what happened as he quickly pulled back his soul light with a hint of fear trying not to think about it at the moment. Sharply he turned and nearly fell as he faced the only other living person there. He was trying not to look to the right even as he could see her stockings at the edge of his vision.

He stayed there blankly watching Zephyr laugh then cough up blood. "........." A flicker of red glow caught his eye instead forcing a quick intake of breath from him as he made his way over, dragging his wings in the dirt and mud as he stopped by the mercenary and tried to pick up the ring.

His breath getting faster as he looked down at the pretty but blood covered ring with the beautiful shifting red glow. He let out a soft cry looking at it as if it cemented the nearly surreal feeling of what was happening. Looking away he lowered his head to stare at Zeph. "Break it " he said quietly. "Let her go" he leaned down and grabbed at Zeph with his free hand pulling him up a little as he pushing energy he barely had to spare into him. ((Healing: 27))

Leaning against the tree, his eyes closed as he tried to keep himself conscious, Zephyr sucked in a breath, trying to calm himself after what had just happened. Opening his eyes as he heard the cry from Ree, barely, over the rain, he just stared into the others eyes, expecting to be killed. But that wasn't what had happened.

Break it

Let her go

As he was grabbed and pulled up a bit, he focused on Ree a bit more as he felt the warmth of healing surge through him. 'Healing... what.... wow, okay...' Zephyr thought to himself before he reached up to try and get the other to let go, not wanted to be indebted to someone who had clearly disliked him. "You want her to be free, proper..? For her to rest..?" he asked weakly, "For...her to be at peace?"

You want her to be free, proper..? For her to rest..? For...her to be at peace?"

Ree shook his head and stop as that made the pain worse. Letting go he took a few seconds to recover enough to stare down at him painfully, noticing the faint look of surpise on the others eyes . "I want her to be free " he clarified, everything else was up to Ashral and while he didn't know much about souls he could at least assume she wouldn't be able to find anything else while trapped.

Also keeping her locked away was selfish to an extreme ..knowing it was possible to be locked away after death is why he even fought when she died, when the whole conversation before hand was excatly about that. She had been locked up since her original death and while it hurt he would never want to see her held like that to be used or just to be held close. She was his....a friend and he couldn't help her....except for this.

Nodding slowly, Zephyr took in a deep breath and put his hand over the ring that held the soul gem and closed his eyes. Thankfully, this sort of thing was much easier to do than pulling a soul into or out of a body, or putting it into an item. Focusing on the soul gem, he worked on pulling Ashral's soul out of the gem, the entire task looking quite draining, though once it was complete, the shimmer of the soul gem died down.

Letting out a sigh, he opened his eyes and looked to Ree, noting how exhausted he looked too. "She's free... you can take the ring if you want.." he muttered, closing his eyes and just resting against the tree.

The soul within the ring glowed a little brighter before dying back down and eventually it faded. The glimmer of the aura was gone even if the gem remained, a husk of what was holding her soul in place, now it was free.

Staring at it he watched the soul brighten then slowly fade away until there was nothing left, wishing he knew he did the right thing but having no way to find out. Nodding silently he took the ring back and stared at the mercenary before finally turning away.

Placing the ring in his pocket he moved to the swords and pulled at them until he could finally pull them down. Why there were two of them nearly excatly the same he couldn't tell ...except it was the one Ashral had summoned if it was the same one he lost..maybe.

Finally he dragged himself over to where Ashral was, wings shaking as he turned her carefully and moved her to a better position before he placed both swords over her and tried to pick her up. Her former house was near by but he couldn't stomach being there even if he could make it that far.

Taking one look at the mercenary he readied himself to fly upward toward the drier branches, pushing all emotions down for a few more minutes.

As he continued to watch Ree, he kept quiet until the swords were both placed over Ashral's body. "One of those is Hexxis'... I would like that back.." Zephyr stated, moving to stand up, grunting as he did. He was so sore, so tired, but he wanted the sword back.

Ashral's body was completely limp and her skin looked paler than usual as her body didn't feel as warm as before. There was no resistance but the normal dead weight of her petite frame as he moved to pick her up.

Ree turned back to glare at him a flicker of emotions passing his face as he finally looked down at the swords over Ashral. The one he mentioned was easy to tell apart it was the only one of the two bath in blood.

"Hexxis....." His wings continued to shiver as his emotions darkened. If he hadn't gone chasing after Hexxis would Ashral still be alive? If he hasn't pushed her so hard to go meet he real brother again....

Lowering her back down he was careful until she was fully on the ground, only then did he pick up the sword that killed her. "Hexxis is always involved even when she's not there " he threw the sword angrily at Zeph's feet as he leaned back down and picked Ashral up again, this time taking wing quickly to the drier branches above before he broke down. Something he didn't want the merc to witness at all.

Zephyr narrowed his eyes at Ree as the sword was tossed at him angrily, though he bent to pick it up. "I'm sorry for your loss." He stated, letting out a shaky sigh as he watched the other fly off. Taking in a breath, he closed his eyes and walked into the shadow of the tree, using up every single ounce of his energy to get himself somewhere safe. Somewhere he could take solace in being.

He was going home.

As the shadows engulfed his form and spat him out in the known shadow, Zephyr collapsed into the grass of Sanctuary, clutching the sword.
