"You're not explaining this. You can admit you killed people but you won't tell me how moths work?" He asked, moving the cloth up to his hair and squeezing water into the locks to them wipe them.

"I know I don't need to. I can use you too, Lawr."

Not playing ball with Melvin right now seemed like it was potentially dangerous, so he sighed and elaborated, keeping his voice very low while he recounted.

"When I first went to the sahara with Taym we got separated, he was stubborn, I wasn't about to make him stay with me when he wanted to go off on his own. I met Nest. She said to me I should train a Taym clone how to be like Taym. I did. She wanted me to bring her people I think, hunters. I had already killed a few people in pods. I unplugged them to frame America." And the one that had been from his daughter which he didn't mention. "I was rewarded with some youth and told there would be more where that came from. This time she was there again, but I fought her, but it was not truly her but one of her minions. I lost, I am not a fighter, but not before seeing them off enough to get back. Turning against her lost me my earned years and pilfered some of my own."

He fell silent after rapidly recollecting it all, tolerating the contact and in his present state also able to do nothing against Melvin's assertion. "I am not a doll." he said.

it was cold to hear his admittance so sytematically broken down without a hitch or pause to reflect. There was no moral debate tearing at him about death and the defenseless hunters who, like him, had waited for a chance to be set free to fight. They were his comrades, and his empathy for them silently in their pods hadn't come into play. At least not from what his tone of voice gave.

Melvin squeezed water slowly again atop Lawr's head, watching it seep into his roots and dribble down his face. Then he followed it and purposely ran it down the man's features and rubbed it in a moment like forcing a dog to smell it's accident before pulling the cloth back and into the water.

"Why did you fight it? If you are willing to kill for it? Why frame America when you love her?"

He rang out the cloth again and gently washed his hair again.

"No. You're not a doll." A doll did nothing but look pretty. Lawr was more dangerous than that. "Dolls do nothing and stay clean."

Lawrence had explained to Melvin that he disliked water in the past, so it rankled him now to even momentarily be forced to deal with it. The cloth in his face, though brief, was impossible to breathe through and for a moment it was like being waterboarded. Maybe, he thought, this was how he was going to die, maybe this was the drowning he'd been dreading.

Mercifully he wasn't suffocated and gave Melvin a wide eyed feral sort of look, his pupils wider than usual from the adrenaline of fight or flight.

"I fought it because I am trying to be good." he said. He didn't mention she was mad now, that she hadn't wanted him, that he hadn't been good enough.

"As far as staying clean" he snapped, regaining his composure a little, anger bubbling up in him. "I do apologise for being human. I won't be for much longer."

"That's good to fight it then. There isn't any point in you making deals with Famine. To do that to hunters who can't fight back. You're only doing their job for them and you're better than that to be their dog." Whatever mots he got was not worth it, and he deserved the karma in getting life taken away. Even if Lawr was older, he did it to himself and if justice had been true, he would be dead instead of gray for killing those hunters in their pods.

He tenderly cleaned once more, dragging the hit cloth down his neck and wiping his shoulders and chest above his bandages.

"I didn't mean that type of clean. You make a lot of your own messes. Does being not human soon mean you want to be a doll?" And he paused. "...or a god?"

He moved to lean close now, pressing close as he wrapped around him to wipe his back. "... Or is Dr. H taking another golem?"

"I was doing it for my own self interest." he said. "That is all. I am no one's dog." Regardless of how concerned he was and how much he thought Melvin had snapped, being clean again was welcome and oddly reminiscent of baths a long long time ago.

"A good. Perfect." he replied.

"And no. I saved people. Why would he take another self?" he was getting tired of this game. "Why are you being such a creep?" he asked. "I don't like this."

"I'm catching up. You are a secretive man who fed me lies for over a year. I don't know the real you. I think with all I've given, I deserve to hear something true." He leaned back down and washed under his neck and then dabbed the corner of his chin in a mocking gesture of a mom.

"Don't know what Dr. H wants, he could come and do what the hell he wanted and you aren't using Jan anymore."

He held his chin now and then reached over for another wet cloth, swueezing the water out before taking it and reaching past the bandages.

"Do you like this?"
PostPosted: Fri May 06, 2016 2:05 pm

Lawrence would have left long ago, resenting being trapped in a place where people would ask him questions and inclined to start lying properly again the way he had the day Melvin had woken him up from his pod.

"Still so hung up on Jan, I AM Ja--ah- " he trailed off, unfocused, immediately trying to get away from Melvin's contact and what it was doing beyond his normally vice like control only to make a sound of genuine pain as the injuries made themselves known again.

"You KNOW the answer to that." he snarled through gritted teeth and for a moment the watch at his wrist lit up as if he was ready to summon, all of his instincts telling him to wring Melvin's neck.

<> Butch roared in his thoughts. <>

Lawrence instead clenched his hand. "I don't like your mood." he said. "I especially don't like your mood anywhere .. near things."

"Do I? What do I know? I am learning right now, back at square one." He said and continued to watch him as h went slower and gentle. "Wasn't this right now what you wanted?" He asked, blue eyes looking back and forth at Lawr's gaze.

"Should my mood be sweeter? We aren't lovers and I'm not your wife after all. Do all the people you ******** treat you so tenderly when you don't?"

"So how are you going to be a god?"
PostPosted: Fri May 06, 2016 2:26 pm

Lawrence found his anger tangled up in something else entirely and was tripped up on thoughts and words though with some dark vicious part of him hoping someone would walk in and the other man would land in serious trouble. This was entirely while he hoped it didn't happen either.

"You are a p***k." he snarled, bold despite of his precarious situation, and his voice was steely and cold. "I will be perfect when I understand everything there is to understand about emotion. You couldn't hope to comprehend it. You should be grateful if anything. Because you even get to look upon me. It will be one day and it will be one day soon, everything I survive makes me stronger."

And he stopped, lifting his hands away and using the cloth to wipe his hand. He moved to the basin to wash off his hands and then used the towel on his shoulder to dry them.

"Soon? Why didn't you become a god earlier? Seems someone who knew how would be already there and this..." He gestured at the bandages and what was below. "... Doesn't seem that way. A god wouldn't serve Famine."

He turned to him and watch him, barren and in need. "You're just as human as the rest of us. The wounds and what's standing proved that."

PostPosted: Fri May 06, 2016 2:50 pm

"And to think I thought you understood my divinity. I thought you were one of the only people who did. But you don't. I'm human for now. Jesus was human too for a while. Humanity does not negate divine origins and ends. None of this is over yet."

He was furious again at being left unsatisfied. "You should hurry up and leave." he said. "I'm tired and this is wearing me out."

"I thought I understood it too, but I question my faith in light of recent events." He said, moving to kneel beside the bed and reaching behind it.

"This god is certainly easily worn out. All I'm being is faithful. Giving him what he wants. Serving that mighty relic." He joked as he continued working in the space behind Lawr's bed and the wall before he rose up.

Reaching down, he pulled his sweater up over his head and set it down beside the nightstand.

Lawrence didn't like any of this and even if he couldn't leave he was entirely prepared to just do the next best thing and sulk about it.

"Relic." he said, and his expression contorted into proper anger. He wouldn't forget this humiliation or the things said.

"Go away." he said. "Put the sheets back and go away."

He looked back as Lawr sulked and found it rather nice. "No."

Then he took off his glasses and set that on the sweater and started to unbutton his khakis. "I'm not done yet."
