Jeremiah was growling, a low rumble that was probably only heard by Algie due to proximity. The idea that they had done that to his vehicle, despite being part of procedure, still agitated him. They could have at least cleaned up the dust!
At the mention of three days and the upheld fingers, the detective closed his mouth. "I know," he spoke softly, brows knitting together because it was legitimately something he had been thinking about while he was here. Just how the other had reacted to his disappearance and ... "Sunny did not leave me much of an option when she yanked me through my phone and then brought me here."
Jeremiah's hand flicked through the air in annoyance. Not at Algie but at Sunny. Some part of this situation was definitely on her but this thing with Algie being here? That probably wasn't her.
"Ah ..." His lips pressed together in a thin line, not entirely pleased with the looks he was being given by those green, green eyes. "I doubt you're incubating. If you're here, you've likely got some power." A hand was raked through silver hair. "It's part of this entire thing. Dreaming about here," the empty other ashdown, "seeing this place, being here means you're already there. Apparently," he took a deep breath, "I've had it since that first night." When he had woken up Algie with his nightmares.
A power that he had only figured out while he had been stuck in other ashdown alone with Zac.

"Just curious if you might have some insight, is all."
Asiya shrugged at Erin and then cast a look back at Sage. It seemed that none of them knew what the problem was, and she couldn't help but be a little frustrated. A disappointed sigh escaped her, and she craned her head up to look off into the distance. The town hall was just down the way, and others were probably there, she figured.
"We'll figure this out somehow..." her words trailed off into an awkward silence, only for Asiya to add a hesitant, "...I hope." She then fell silent and said no more, turning her focus on getting to the center of town. Her floral boots clicked with each step as she made her way there, and it was clear Asiya was hoping to find some answers.

Asiya's just arriving at town hall. If anyone else wants to chat with her, feel free!
A murderer was coming for her. She looked at the hunched figure, in the deserted streets and swung brown eyes left...and then right. Not another goddamn figure anywhere. He could...He could take her purse (she clutched it tighter), He could hurt her! (she moved into the corner, back to the wall, he wasn't going to get this easy). All manners of what could happen, played through her mind.
His question made her neck hairs stand up and in a loud voice.
"Like, Yeah! I saw a while bunch of people pass by not to long ago!" She lied, because there hadn't been a damn soul but him and she was not sure if that was good or really....really bad. "They were just like five minutes away, so..." Oh god, please don't hurt her.

Out of nowhere, a voice comes. It is less a voice and more a sensation, a hand grabbing your chin and pulling you away from your current goal, whatever that may be, to look a certain way. There is a taste to it, like black smoke and burnt meat. It feels like walking over bones.
It says,
"COME AND SEE."
You know, suddenly and with total clarity, that you should be going towards Waite State Park.
Algie had been about to ask just what Jeremiah's power was when the voice came out of nowhere. His feet stopped but Algie jolted in surprise, book under his arm bobbling as his fingers darted out to grip against Jeremiah's forearm.
"Jesus bloody christ," The words come and gone when he released the other man from his grip and let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. "Well that's one way to tell everyone where to go.."
As there were people, not far, gathering by City Hall.

"Nope! No! Heellll no!" From the distance came a very shrill, angry female voice, followed by the click-clack of a very impressive sprint in heels. Barreling in like the devil himself was on her heels (and s**t, for all Autumn knew, he probably WAS,) Autumn carried her unfortunately dragged-along friend on her arm, face caught in terror and clearly shaken. If asked, her new Horror Movie Minority Buddy would likely have claw marks from her fake nails digging into his skin and more than likely his soul JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE SHE WAS NOT UP TO THIS s**t.
She skittered to a stop as she reached the conglomerate of old men, bending over as she panted and tried to catch her breath.
"Th- the high school is gone," Autumn wheezed, still working to get her s**t together. "The cute teacher. We were gonna bust in." Another huff of breath. "And it's gone. Poof. No kids, no school. And now satan is after us,"
Standing more upright, she elbowed the drug-along Chris, and gestured to him with the hand not digging into his flesh.
Jeremiah's eyes focused on Zac in front of them then flicked back to Algie just as the voice rang out clear. His hand instantly went to cover the other man's, an instinctive step to shield the other behind him taken and then stopped when he realized that it was just a voice.
"I don't like it." Despite the neutral expression on his face, his eyes gave away the frown he was not showing. "Something wanting us to all gather up?" The people in the distance were visible and they were still on that path until they turned to go to Waite State Park. "Not that we're not going to go but be on alert, Alg. You too, Zac."
The detective was keeping a close eye on both of the men. He could not tolerate anything happening to them. "... and I'm sure," he said in a less authoritative tone than he had been speaking, "that you want to know what it is." The power. "I swear, it's your fault."

It was probably best Autumn was doing all the moving because Chris was still incredibly freaked out. He had joked about silent hill and the rapture but he was now starting to seriously reconsider these jokes because the hell voice was real and had DAMN WELL SPOKEN TO THEM.
He wheezed as Autumn made her stop (and would it be weird if he still clung to her? ******** it, he wasn't letting go), trying to get his breath and nerves back. People, there was people, that was slightly better. But there still was the fact, the high school was gone.
"It's gone, holy ******** it's gone," He panted out, backing up Autumn and bemoaning the loss of the school. "We shouldn't have gone, why do I have a key, why do I keep teaching at that school? Do I even have a job anymore? Where the ******** are we?"
Chris was regretting not letting other people deal with this s**t. He should've gone back to bed.

Aleksy sighed. He paused in his sighing and put-upon-ness to lean on Finn's shoulder. Then he sighed again, and spared a moment to smirk at Algernon. Told you to be patient and you'd find them.
Then there was the voice. Aleksy gagged on the taste of burnt meat, nails digging into Finn's arm, but pulled himself back together as quick as he could. Damage control time, he thought.
"Your job is fine," he said to the over-excited Korean man. To the new girl, "Satan is not after you. The voice is... new."
The voice was actively terrifying.
He sighed. "We'll find the way out. Probably in Waite." Honestly, the voice was probably Sunny telling them all to get the hell out. He wouldn't put it past her to be that obtuse.
Aleksy looked up to Finn. "Yeah?"

"Okay," Autumn replied, breathing a touch more regular now that she wasn't competing in the hundred meter dash in heels, "but hear me out. Why the ******** are you so calm?! Is this normal in this town?!" She was really starting to hate this place. Like, a lot. The second they were out of here (assuming she wasn't dead), she was moving back home with her parents. Being humiliated beat the hell out of staying with s**t trying to actively summon the devil. Even if her mother WAS the queen of passive-aggressive bitchery.
"Why are we following the voice anyway? Isn't that exactly how they ******** get us??? Last I checked, we did NOT want to listen to the devil telling us where to go."
"Seems a bit like a trap," Algie adjusted his umbrella, and murmured to Jeremiah, "But what choice have we had at all in any of this?" Even with Sunny everything had been out of their hands.
"And what else's my fault now?" He huffed at the other as his gaze moved away to a pair running towards them. The woman was screaming with another man in tow... and then there was- <******** hell, Aleksy, looking smug as can be. Algie's eyes narrowed and his mouth was a hard line. No talking right now, he'd let those more confused than himself handle all that.

Finn nodded, swallowing down bile. He wasn't much for eating meat, and the taste that now filled his mouth made him nauseous.
"We go to Waite," he said, turning towards the girl who'd spoken up and objected. "This is the Otherworld. It doesn't follow Horror Movie logic." She was genre-savvy, he thought, but for the wrong genre. "It's more like video game logic. You have to go where the game tells you to if you want to progress."
Doors. Gates. There were rules to the Otherworld. It was strange, but an orderly sort of strange - not a random psycho slasher waiting in the broom closet strange.
"If it says Come and See," he added, just to be clear. "We Come and See." This small group was the most people he'd ever seen in the Otherworld - and he had a distinct feeling there were even more people here. The Otherworld seemed to be in a... show-off-y mood.
Well, he hadn't lost his job. That was something in... wherever the ******** it was. He was more than willing to let Autumn question everyone and anything anyways, she had the right idea.
He was also trying to pretend that he still hadn't lost his mind, but that was more of a work progress.
"Wait, so this place is called the Otherworld?" Chris piped up, turning towards the guy the earlier one had been leaning on. "Are we in some... alternate reality?"
There was at least some small comfort in that it wasn't a horror movie universe. According to this dude, anyways, but since he wasn't freaking out Chris was more inclined to follow him. He gave a glance at the rest of the group that had trotted in, something flickering in his brain (weren't they the other missing people?) but he wasn't inclined to act on it. He just shifted his umbrella in his hand and leaned a little more towards Autumn. She was safe.

A hand was raised in greeting towards Aleksy and Finn, as well as the other people that appeared. He actually was lowering his umbrella, closing it up because he was not going to be using it anymore in this kind of group.
It was bad enough that the detective had blossoming bruising under his eyes. "Not like I'm not armed," Jeremiah replied, "if it's a trap or something. I've not seen anything for all the time that I've been stuck here but ..." Shoulders shrugged before he was leaning to speak just in a voice for Algie. "Also you remember that ability you gave that one detective in your series? May your aim always be true?" It was a silly line but he remembered when the character had been blessed by one of the PTB in the series. "That, Alg. I can't miss. It's ******** ridiculous."
It was not quite that amazing, it was goddamn frustrating and made him feel stupid.
"I've been stuck here for three days already and this is the first time I've actually heard something." That serious voice was back, speaking louder so that others could hear him. He looked towards the young woman who was trying to apply movie logic then back towards Finn and Aleksy. For what it was worth, he would back the decision to go and investigate. "We check it out. It might lead to us getting out of here or understanding why you're all here now."
Jeremiah knew why he was here. Don't make deals with Sunny. Why everyone else was here? That he definitely wanted to know. What had changed?
That voice. That voice. It rushed into Leila's insides and ran them icy, snapping her back into clarity from whatever daze she had been in, dread in the pit of her stomach awoken into a stuttering cold fire. Long locks of hair dampened from the rain clung to the backs of her arms, and her spectacles were persistently misted over no matter how much she wiped the lenses down with the front of her shirt. Her throat was parched in spite of this, and an awful taste -- far too much like the smell of a corpse -- stuck to it as a remnant of the beckoning call.
She was just going out to the gas station at the end of the block to get a pint of Ben & Jerry's. Instead she'd stepped out onto a same-but-different street, unsettlingly different, and anxiety rose to cloud her thoughts as she grew aware of being watched. And judged. And pulled forward by little more than a drive to do anything but stand still.
"What..."
There were other people here. Real or not, it looked like they'd heard something similar just now.
