She stopped in her steps when he said the magic word. Very pleased she answered happily,"Correct! It is a pasta!" He was almost there. The game was getting more exciting as he got closer to the right answer. By now it was just a formality.

The duty of the dish was to get the tomatoes going and work on the dough so both would be done at the same time. Standing right at his side, she helped organize the ingredients and set to filling a pot with water. Used to a kitchen with others doing the same thing, Menolly got right to work. Putting the pot to boil she explained, "Working on the sauce first, the tomatoes need to be cored and then make a cut." Showing him, she used the knife proved to cut a circle around the top of the tomato then flipped it over and cut a cross right into the bottom of the tomato. It was trick that once she learned, she couldn't go without.

There were quite a bit of tomatoes to work with, he'd have leftovers for certain. Cooking for two might be more of a challenge then she first anticipated.

She was making him pasta? He blinked when she confirmed his far fetched thought. "You don't have to go through such trouble. I would've been fine with a steak or pork chop." She lifted up a tomato with a knife, and expertly cut and cored the vegetable -or fruit- in front of him. But there were 9 more to go.

Off handedly the male picked up a tomato himself and his own knife and slowly cut the circle on the top as he had been shown. Just as accurately cut, but quite slower, as he was adept in knives but not the exact technique applied. "So I'll help you." Though her gratitude for him helping her was for her to cook him a meal, he wouldn't mind helping with such a large undertaking.

"Lasagna?"

Menolly smiled just happy for the excuse to cook for him. A practiced hand kept the line going with the extra help he provided. Starting the hot water she went to work throwing the completed tomatoes in as they worked. Shaking her head again she cheerfully corrected him, "Not lasagna."

Not the least bit discouraged, Menolly kept up working while waiting for him to guess the right meal. He'd get it, she had faith in him and the more they put together the easier it would be.

Eggs in the flour made an easy noodle as she combined and let sit what had to look like bread dough to him. For the sauce the tomatoes were taken out a minute after they were put in and thrown into cold water. Thats when the magic happened, the cuts allowing the skin to be removed easily. From peeled tomatoes came chopped sauce base. She threw that in with the garlic and cooked meat that had previously been in the pot. Once everything was in there it sat as the dough rested.

What she had seemed like a lot but really went into two things then made the whole kitchen smell amazing. That was one of her favorite things, the aroma that came from a good meal. The wait was long but time seemed to fly for the angel while in the demon's company. As the sauce finished, she threw in the hand cut noodles. Minutes later she was helping to plate the fresh meal they had prepared together. "Ta-da!" she declared proudly the dinner complete with a lot more sauce left over then she expected. Really, she had to learn to cook less for two.

I do too, so cute heart

Working side by side with the angel to core the remaining tomatoes, tossing them into the hot water. In the corner of his eye he caught her working on the dough. She said there wasn't bread involved, which made him confused and curious. But as they worked, it slowly became increasingly obvious. "Spaghetti." It came out in a half sigh, amazed that it had taken him so long to figure it out. No doubt due to the fact that he hadn't eaten spaghetti in years.

When it was finished he fetched the plates to hold out as she dished out the noodles. He took a deep breath of sweet spices that filled his home. "I believe this was the most time intensive meal I've made in a long time."

He was lucky her hands had been covered in yoke and flour. His correct guess earned a hug, instead it got a hum. Nodding her head she told him, "Correct!" This game was awesome, maybe they could play it again with another meal? There were a few ideas of different things she could put together that would take him a while to guess.

Platting the meal she explained, "It is a favorite at the great hall, and great to have made ahead." It was nothing for her to spend a good amount of time cooking. The act itself was relaxing and very rewarding. "I hope you like it, I may have made a bit too much." After washing her hands she put her hand on the back of her head and chuckled a little embarrassed. That wasn't planned, not at all.

Fishing out the forks, Menolly handed one to Raken exchanging it for her own plate. She was pleased with the meal and hoped he would be as well.

As she confirmed his guess, he softly chuckled. How could he have not thought of spaghetti sooner? Obviously he needed someone to bounce thoughts off again, get his mind working again.

"I appreciate it. Smells delicious." The reminder of the hall brought to mind how they would go together in the future. Strange how two days ago he didn't know she existed, and now she was suddenly in his life. How did she manage that?

He handed her the plate in exchange for the fork. "Oh, hold on for a thought." The male set down his plate to open up a cabinet in the corner. Out pulled a long necked, green bottle of red wine. "A particularly appreciative angel gifted me this a few weeks back. I'm not one to drink, but I believe the occasion calls for it." A 'welcome to the neighborhood' type of deal.

Yes...strange how suddenly she's intertwined in his life. Almost as if it was fate. HAHAHA

His praise was all she needed, that alone made any effort worth it. Right here, right now, everything was so comfortable. His home felt so much more warm than her own and this kitchen felt more like hers than her own. Even as they cooked she was taking stock of what he had and didn't have. There were recipes floating about that were dropped or added biased on his guesses and what was on hand. The best day to go the the hall had to be tomorrow off guess of what was likely on the menu.

Enjoying the scent of a well cooked meal, she paused in her tracks when he spoke of waiting. Watching curiously, the angel gripped her plate as he walked away from her. The return came with a surprise, "Oh that is a great compliment!" Just by looking at the bottle she could tell it would go great with the meal itself. Only time she remembered drinking was that one party. Things were really fuzzy about it had to be due to time.

(( Yes...what an odd coinkidink that he has a romantic bottle of wine ))

With her positive reaction to the bottle, he moved to the next cabinet to grab two glasses. Setting it on the counter, Raken then took a thin knife to slip into the cork, then twist. A few turns of the wrist, and the cork came free with a satisfying pop. Then the male tipped the bottle to fill each glass appropriately before recorking it. "So..." He extended her glass to the angel. "Onto the next room to dine?"

Balancing her plate and fork with the new glass, Menolly nodded and decided they needed trays in the future. "Sounds like a great idea." Familiar with the layout, Menolly had no trouble 'leading' the way into the next room. Arranging her dinner and drink comfortably, Menolly sat herself but wouldn't try to eat until Raken was also seated. While cooking with wine was normal, drinking was unfamiliar. Picking up the glass she imitated what she'd seen, swirling and taking in its aroma too. From what she'd used to cook, it seemed to be a very fine wine.

Too bad he doesn't know how 'well' menolly does with alcohol blaugh

Raken placed his fork on his own plate before grabbing the dish in one hand, his glass in the other. Before he left the kitchen however, he gave one quick look to his surroundings. Sauce was quite messy...he'd have a time cleaning up after dinner. Ah well, a good meal was worth it.

The demon followed the angel into the comfortable room, where he placed his items on the little table typically reserved for book, before settling into his comfy chair. "To new neighbors." He spoke softly while picking up his glass once more to hold up in a toast.

There wasn't a chance she was going to leave without cleaning everything up. When it was clean enough for her to leave was thoroughly in debate at the moment. Raising her own glass, Menolly clinked her glass with his, "And to new beginnings." Scooting as closely as she could to the table and her host.

Taking a sip of the wine first, she held the elixir in her mouth to savor the flavor. From what she's used for cooking, it was just as she expected. First sip did pull out a giggle from the angel before she went to trying the dinner out. A small bite told her it was almost perfect. Needed a touch more basil but over all she was pleased with it. Now the question, was Raken?

Tartara Seabreeze
This might inspire him not to have it anywhere she can reach it from now on

When was the last time he had alcohol? He couldn't recall exactly, it was so infrequent. But surely one glass to be a gracious host wouldn't do any harm? He lifted the glass to his lips and took a sip before setting it down. As wine was a rare treat, he savored the taste on his tongue before swallowing. "I wish I could say if it was good wine or not, but I do like it." He faintly smiled and picked up his fork to take a bite of spaghetti.

Oh. That was delightful. "Now...I know this is good. You're a good cook Menolly. More practice needed with skinning, but a good cook."

Answering what she could, Menolly told him, "I cook with wine, but I don't taste it much." At all but she wasn't going to tell him that, "This is lovely!" As if to prove the point, she took another generous sip of the drink before going back to her pasta.

His compliment brought a bright blush to her cheeks. Diverting her eyes in a bout of shyness she remarked, "Thank you, you are too kind. I am very happy you like my cooking." What was unsaid was the hope he'd like for her to cook for him again. Preferably without the skinning part.

Humbly she finally pulled her golden eyes back and took another bite of the food. This was better then eating at a large table. Boisterous was fun, but the one on one was much more relaxing.

Tartara Seabreeze
If he does that hes libel to have a mini army that menolly might or might not know is hers XD

If he ever remembered who it was who gifted him the wine, he'd be sure to thank them for giving a quality wine. The way she got flustered at his compliment was...cute. For her sake he wouldn't embarrass her further, instead responding with a nod before focusing on the meal.

For the second night in a row, this was nice. The atmosphere was warm, the food delicious, and there was something about having company that made the air a little fuller. As his plate neared cleaned, he took another sip. Almost out already? His head did feel slightly fuzzy. "Hmm...I may have underestimated my reaction to this." His silver gaze flicked from the glass to his companion. "How are you fairing my dear?"

Between bites, with the wine to clear the palette, Menolly couldn't help but criticize her own meal. It had to be prefect, he let her into his home and deserved that much. At one point she was working on a list of little changes to make. That list seemed to have melted away along with the noodles right about the second to the last bite.

Her whole body felt warm as if she was in a relaxing bath. Giggling she played more with the last bite of her food then she ate. The wine was one sip gone, but the glass was fuzzy and she wasn't sure she wanted to reach it. "I am feeling norm-nrom..great!" Proclaiming proudly with a huge smile Menolly didn't notice the word slip just that her tongue was a little heavy and the other word was easier.
