Galan listened carefully, his expression open and receptive and not judging in the least. As Laviticus would speak of the scarier things--his Likais' alcoholism, his twisted sister, his feeling pressed out of his home--Galan's tail would gently squeeze Lavi's ankle in comfort. When at last he finished, Galan squeezed his arm affectionately and gave a decisive nod.
"You can move in as soon as you would like! I can help you move your things if you'd like some moral support to make the shift?" He too had felt like there was no longer room for him. The Goblin Burrough had become extremely cramped, and with his Gran having run things, he was only one of many stones that had been adopted into the community. He didn't have this sense of intimate family that Laviticus did, and in this moment, he felt himself thinking of the "Careful What You Wish For" adage.
"And as for your sister... She can't get into the dorms without clearance, so you don't have to worry about her messing things up for you here. I'll protect you!" There was something so preposterous of this miniscule, scrawny Goblin protecting anything more than his paintbrush, that Galan had to laugh at himself. He slowly climbed to his feet to fetch the tea pot, topped up both of their cups and then snuggled in once more.

All the hybrid could do was smile. This boy had been so kind to him since the instant they met, and now he was being welcomed in to his space, in to his home. Had Laviticus finally made what so many had referred to as a 'true friend'? He could feel his heart pound and pulse in to his throat with the sort of anxiousness that wasn't entirely unpleasant.
As the Goblin rose to fetch them more tea, Laviticus pulled his crystal cellphone from his skirt pocket to contact his dad Likais. He had to play his cards right. While it pained him to do the same thing to his father as Likais did, he really didn't see much in the way of choices. He didn't want to have to see the look of heart break on his father's face when he told him that, he too, was leaving ...
Click.
Laviticus suddenly realized why Likais had done what he had in the first place now. He suddenly understood why it was so much easier to just slip away in to the night while everyone else was resting on their beds, all tucked in and safe. Completely unaware and unassuming, occupied by dreams and flights of fantasy.
Was it wrong of him to ask Likais for help? He was still in good standing with his dad and had regular visits. He seemed almost entirely like his old self again. Laviticus was sure he'd understood and encourage the move, and even help him talk to Ava. Maybe he would attend the meeting with him?
Laviticus pulled up his dad's in his contacts and started typing away, pausing for a brief moment to see Galan returning with the tea to refill their cups. Once again, Lavi smiled softly with gratitude.
"Thank you, by the way ... " he said quietlt, his voice so soft his words could have easily been missed. "For everything you've done for me so far."

Galan sat comfortably beside his friend, a gentle warmth cultivated between them. He sipped his tea, idly flipped his sketchbook open and reviewed his studies of Laviticus.
He could practically /feel/ his friend thinking, mulling, lost in his thoughts. Galan was happy to be present, to let him recount and examine in peace. He was here when he would be needed. It was, in an unconscious way, a demonstration of the sort of Friend Galan would be.
Just as he was flipping over to a fresh page, Lavictus found his voice and offered heartfelt thanks. Galan looked up with a happy and genuine smile. "My pleasure! Truly... I feel...in a way, we are kindred spirits, Laviti~" Rubbing shoulders affectionately with him, he set to drawing another portrait of his new friend.
