Eternal Sailor Athene & Mauvian Liryn

Whilst Athene had suggested that they check out the ruined building, the dark-haired senshi hadn't felt any especial pull towards it.

He had been curious though and was even more so the closer that they got to it.

Because the building seemed almost... Almost out of place somehow, even if it wasn't really anything that he could put his finger on.

There was more of the crystals that seemed to be pretty much everywhere growing out of the building and a winding path leading onwards.

He hadn't had much of a chance to really look around however because suddenly there was a long deep sound that sounded like a rumbling growl sounds coming from somewhere inside the building and it was followed shortly after by a feminine voice screaming for help.

He looked at Alcor who he had been keeping pace with "That sounds bad" his quiet voice was worried and as he spoke Athene increased his pace "We should check it out, although we'll need to watch our step." He glanced up ahead to where Liryn and Eleonora were and then repeated himself, making his voice slightly louder for the benefit of anyone around him "That path ahead seems unstable so please watch your step."

And then he had continued onwards.

Inside he had found more of the glowing crystals in the wall, along with fragments of dimmer crystals on the ground.

There was a staircase too, leading downwards and voices.

"I guess that's where we need to go" he said pausing only to gather a few bits of the fragments glowing crystal on the ground and tuck them into his sash before moving towards the staircase as quickly as he dared.

------------------------------------------

Liryn had been eyeing the crystals curiously whilst wondering if they detached, but he nodded at the sound of Athene's voice because it was a fair warning - although he personally reckoned that his balance would be better than that of the humans - even if walking on feet was still new.

Like Athene he had noticed the shattered crystals fragments, but as the dark-haired eternal had already move to gather a few he didn't bother to take any and instead looked at Eleonora as he moved in the direction of the staircase that Athene had pointed out.

"Let's go down together 'kay?" He made it a question, even as his ears fIicked at the sound of hissing coming from below.

Slievenamon, Page of Neptune

Slievenamon squinted to the darkness. What she heard was barely audible as it echoed from down below, but a voice was better than none. Hopefully, the others were also nearby and they'd stick together. "I'm here!" she cried down, answering Altair. "J-just take it easy down there! It's... It looks really dark, so there might be danger. I'll try and find—"

Before she could finish her sentence, something shook from below, stiffening her. At once, the page was to her feet and almost to running, but not before calling down to the trio:

"I'll... I'll be right back! Something's going on!"

Using the strength in her legs, the girl kicked off from the ground and onto the stairs that led deeper into the Academy. Once she rushed into the hallway, something stormed the long corridor, and she froze. A humongous thing was on the offensive. What sent a tremble up Slievenamon's spine was the sheer size of the thing; she had gone up against a few youma, but not something of such magnitude. Suddenly, she felt overcome with the desire to run; even tempted to take the suicidal leap into the dark and join the three below rather than put up a fight.

But the beckon from the Code had called to her again and, suddenly, she felt a need to go to it. The page didn't rush into the fray; instead, she stood on the outskirts with the others.

"I... I'm just a page, I can't do anything yet," she said to those around her. "But my flute? It's quite loud. Maybe... Maybe I can distract it? Give you guys a chance to attack?"

To test her idea, Slievenamon licked her lips and blew into her shell flute with enough air to empty her lungs. A high-pitched shrill cut through the hisses of the giant scorpion youma, hopefully capturing its attention.

Andronicus Squire of Uranus - Giant Scorpion Battle

The squire almost tripped down the stairs as Arthur smacked into her. She chucked at the feline and nodded, continuing down the winding staircase. A chuckle was given to Themiscrya, simply waving her to follow her. It gave her a sense of foreboding, as well as an odd sense of deja vu. Clearly the Andronicus had been designed, at least in part, to model a portion of the Academy. Many paths branched off, though they were unacceptable to her or anyone else.

Why someone would mark fallen rubble with a line, when clearly the path was blocked to begin with, made no sense to her, though it did flare her gamer sense of "there's something to these that you can't do right now."

"Woah..." she murmured, looking at the room around. The crystals were gorgeous, the piles of skeletons less so.

Even less so was the giant scorpion that dropped from the ceiling. Oh lovely. A boss battle and she'd missed the save point! Behind the giant youma floated the Code. Oh damn it, it was telling the truth.

"A'right guys! Probably should avoid the stinger and the claws!" Andronicus called to those behind her, charging forward towards the Giant Scorpion Youma, brandishing her mace.

What she wouldn't give for battle music right now.

Nirvana, Page of Pluto

Nirvana, though slightly late to the party, entered the dilapidated academy with a zeal that he would normally have kept hidden. Much of his civilian life was shining through as he looked at the ruins, taking in the look and feel of the area, as well as looking for any sort of sign that would have told him more about the location.

He had a pretty good idea as to what this place was, and the feeling that came from it was not so much foreboding as it was beckoning. He felt comfortable with the pull, comfortable with the idea that he had come here, and perhaps, that is what drew him on with a deft and agile step through the quaking ruins and toward the stair case on the far end. His long and slender legs made it easy for him to move over the chasms and broken boards that might as been in his path, and as he landed feet on the solid stairs he could not help but hear the sounds of voices below him.

He grabbed one of the many crystals from the floor, he holding it firmly in his hand as He descended the spiral staircase. He ran his fingers along the walls, feeling for any for of sharp object that might make a useful weapon should he need it. The voices sounding more urgent driving him to want to have a backup plan.

as he neared the bottom of the stairs, he rounded the corner, his eyes growing large as he noted the giant Youma standing there in the middle of the room. This, this was his luck. On a quest for knowledge he was the one that had to sit and fight a giant bug. "Well ********..."

He rolled his eyes and lowered himself into a defensive stance. He was tall, so making himself smaller came hard for him, but his flexibility helped...a lot.

He glanced around the area, trying to gauge if there were any rock structures or the like that he could leap to, it was best the get the upper hand in this, and he would have to be fast and force this beast to harm itself.

Sailor Altair

She stilled, she heard more mumbling, mumbling that seemed to answer the sobbing pleas she had sent up and it added a bit of brightness back to a flame of hope she carried that had taken a gust of wind to it in a manner of speaking. She strained to hear if it would go on but the silence that followed it stretched on with the absence of any more mumbling sounds.

As she kept part of her focus on gradually regaining more evenness to her breathing as well as movement in her form, she open her eyes after keeping them closed for a stretch of moments to now test them again. She shifted to increase the vertical length of her by kneeling more upright now and winced. She probably had gotten wounds from sliding along the ledge before the fall. Her fingers confirmed that the dark stains on both knees weren't just specks of dirt but blood.

"Hello? I-I um am s-so sorry for my messy behavior. P-please, would you please tell me how you are doing after the fall? A-are you conscious, c-can you hear me? If y-you can, please answer me," she addressed anyone who may be here with her, checking if she was delusional or something of the sort. "I-I don't remember if we've exchanged names. I-I'm Altair." She probably was delusional or something like that now, at least to some extent.

And this time, she attempted to stand, taking one of the glowing crystals with her in the process. She wobbled in place, but managed her first skim of the room around her with the help of the shine provided by the crystal in her hold. And still, she also kept tabs on herself to make sure she was continuing to listen for any other sounds that broke into the silence of this place and from where.

The stairs wound on for an eternity. Scholomance kept a careful hand pressed to the wall for stability as he followed the terribly long spiral staircase, and little changed in his surroundings during that venture. His leg began to ache somewhere around the fiftieth step, an affliction he attributed to the atrophy it sustained in prior months, but he kept on with it. By the time he emerged at the base of the staircase and into the vast, sweeping cavern, the cluster of knights and senshi who emerged before him had already encountered their next obstacle.

The scorpion youma proved a formidable adversary for its size, and potential for deadly venom. Anyone coming into contact with it, assuming a relatively parallel biology to the scorpions they knew, would have to contend with the stinger as a source of toxin. One of the knights, who he recognized as Andronicus, already shouted out its potential dangers before her charge. Something shrill pierced the air beyond them, though he could not locate its source.

Perhaps most interesting was the flicker of brilliant, clear energy that he witnessed for seconds, which perpetrated the call to him. Encased in sand, however, he could not discern its purpose; the scorpion youma warranted destruction if they ever wanted to inspect what called them there. Scholomance, however, lacked much use in battle beyond his magic. A bone cane offered very little advantage against the scorpion youma's chitinous armor, and he knew no combative techniques to increase his effectiveness. With a last glance to the sandy mass, Scholomance summoned his weapon to hand and stood apart from the grouping of knights and senshi to maintain a clear line of sight to the youma and other engaging members.

It's time to see if I can catch someone before they get crushed. Already two had engaged the scorpion, and likely with more on the way. Multitargeting casts looked certain for him.

Swallowing thickly, he tried to clarify his intentions. "Try not to leave my sight. I can prevent attacks from hitting you." Assuming, of course, he was fast enough.

"Really? I thought I'd test my armor!" Kairatos called out, sarcastically to Andronicus.

Giant Scorpion. Well he couldn't fault the rifts sense of dramatics. Abandoned tomb like building. Skeletons. Giant a** youma...

And the signs of excavation. Something he'd have to think about when they weren't fighting for their lives. He wasn't sure he even trusted this place to be stable enough to call his summon, who he would much rather have go toe to toe with a Scorpion.

At least he had his net. Maybe they could make this rodeo show a little easier if he could try and net that deadly tail and hold it back. The claws would still be a problem, but it was worth trying.

"Someone try and get underneath! If it's like a real scorpion, you might find a weak spot!" Granted there was a risk of being stepped on, but maybe not as dramatic a risk as with another type of creature. "Or we could try and wishbone those front legs?" He suggested.

But damnit the CODE. It was here! And Chaos energy as well. Had he actually been right at Olympus, telling Babylon he knew those turns of phrase? They'd been digging. They'd found it. But was it possible to undo what the negaverse might have done to it?

Havasu, Squire of Pluto
-Fighting the Scorpion... when he finally shows up-

Havasu had hesitated for a critical moment as he watched his team split up, he didn't want to leave Phact. He didn't want to leave the bulk of the group but he was drawn to the ruins. It was that hesitation that was enough that the few people who were going to the ruins had raced on ahead. By the time he had reached the stairs others were already engaging the scorpion, the shear size of it made him pause.

A glance around had him spotting Nirvana and Slievenamon. The former seemed to be looking for a weapon while the later was using her whistle... both were pages. With a curse the squire headed over to Nirvana, fishing out his rope as he went. Pausing by the page he muttered to the guy, "Keep to the back, watch out for Slievenamon... pull her out of her if you have to," as he finished a really simple loop at the end of his weapon.

The knight in red and leather, Kairatos, had a point. Under the beast would be the best shot at any real damage. Besides if worst came to worst then all Hav would have done was distract it. With a wild whoop the Squire charged at the youma, twirling his rope like he had finally learned to do last week. If luck was on his side he might even be able to lasso a appendage.

((Hav tends to run into fights without really thinking about them so.... yeah. Slap him if you need to. Also, stole Ryuthulhu's quotes so sorry if I missed someone or extra quoted anyone))

Newgrange

Falling down some deep hole was not exactly on the top of Newgrange's top ten list, but being alive after that fall was probably a good thing. With a little groan he rolled away; he was disoriented and reached a hand up to rub at his head while things settled. The yelling wasn't exactly great for his ears, but it seemed like a reasonable response.

When he moved, a little more light erupted from beneath him—dim, but another one of the glowing purple crystals they'd hit on the way down.

"Newgrange," he introduced a few seconds later. He knew he hurt, but he could curl his fingers and move his legs and that was good enough for him.

He glanced over to Altair—to what he could make of her with only the faint glow of the crystal, at least.

The senshi was up, and walking, and that was reassuring. It meant she was okay. "You don't look so good," he said; he wasn't trying to push himself up just yet. "How badly are you hurt?"

The noises out there sounded dangerous, so on the plus side, whatever was creating havoc up there wasn't bothering them.

…The downside was, he didn't know how to get out of here, and they had less than an hour to do so.

There wasn't really any doubt in his mind that Paris had fallen down with them, but he wasn't talking. Or moving, from what Newgrange could see. He squinted in the dark room, trying to see where he had fallen.

Arthur the cat

It was dark down here and he really wished he had a flashlight than just a crystal, but as they moved down, he was glad to see there were more crystals to provide light. Turning, he tucked his own crystal into his pocket of space to keep for later, not wanting to hold it in his mouth should it, say, explode on him.

The place looked dangerously too large to be stable, what with all the other hallways walled off, and he had the uneasiness that came with dark, unknown places. It made him think of big rats in the sewers.

The scorpion was not what he expected and he bristled as he moved back and away. More senshi arrived, but as they charged, he noticed they had looked over to the glow ball further away.

Even he could tell it was important. If they got it out, then all they had to do is go up the stairs. "Do we need that ball?" He called out, watching them fight the scorpion youma.

Deciding to just go for it, because honestly, what could a cat do against a youma that size, he darted for the ball of light and went up to it to see if maybe, if he could get close enough, if he could just ....roll it away and up to the stairs.

In no time at all, they made it down the stairs, and that was when things got a lot more interesting.

Or annoying, in Palatine's opinion, but at this point she figured she should have expected it.

“Does anyone else feel like a giant scorpion is really out of place in here?” she asked.

Which was entirely unimportant, but being that they were in an old a** building that'd had a broken symbol of Earth outside, with the Code appearing from behind a crumbling wall, she would have expected a majestic stag or something. Or a dragon. Instead they got this thing, which was only half as interesting and ten times uglier. Then again, that seemed to be the way with youma.

Anyway, Palatine had no clue what she should do about it. Kairatos had some good ideas, but she seriously questioned her ability to execute them considering she only had a teapot for a weapon. And magic that would be no help at all unless someone got hurt.

Which was pretty likely, under the circumstances.

“Come see me for any injuries,” she announced. “I've got a magical healing teapot over here.”

Palatine glanced over at Varuna to see how her niece was holding up, not that Palatine thought she had to worry about her. Varuna seemed pretty capable of handling herself.

“You think you can catch it off guard with your snow?”

Themiscyra, Squire of Mars

Nothing could be that easy. The crystals were useful, she'd give the creepy things that. The sight of the skeletons chilled her and she debated their ability to bring them out of the darkness, give them a burial. Having a giant youma fall down on top of them? Well. For their location? Not so surprising, she had to admit. Even if it make her hackles rise to see such an immense creature there in their Academy.

Still, she managed a laugh towards Palatine. She had the exact same thoughts of how odd it was to find a scorpion there of all things. She'd really expected a dragon. Something big and classic fantasy. Not something she kinda associated with the deserts of Uranus. "Sorry, your dragon's in another castle," she quipped before adding, "Least scorpions are sometimes associated with the desert so lots of earthy-vibes there?"

Summoning her weighted chain, and holstering her golden chain with it's useful new crystal lamp end, she listened to the advice of Kairatos and took notice of the Page (Slievenamon) trying to use her weapon to cause a distraction. "Good plan, we'll see how it fairs," she called to her, flicking the Page a quick thumbs up before looking to Andronicus. Like <********> her sister was running in without her. Another Squire had a somewhat similar weapon to hers (Havasu), and Themiscyra followed his lead, hoping to get the youma to expose such a potentially weak underbelly.

Charging along the side of the giant youma, she swung her weighted chain above her head before trying to lasso it around one of the youma's legs, pulling on it with all her weight to try and get the thing to fall over. Or maybe just rear up. Something. Focusing on her weapon, and making sure she was close enough to Andronicus, she began to channel her magic to give Andronicus, and any other whom would be affected by the magic, a boost.

Identify as female and near Themiscyra? See Below

Those aligned with Order whom fight alongside Themiscyra might at times find themselves imbued with a fiery burst within their souls, giving a temporary boost to their physical attacks. The boost itself only lasts as long as her 30 second magic pool, and has no effect on magical attacks. The range of the boost is only within a diameter of six feet around Themiscyra, anyone who ventures outside of that range lose the boost instantly. Those whom do not identify as women seem to be unaffected by the magic...

Falias, Squire of Earth

Falias had accepted Kairatos' offer with a nod, moving to rip off a piece of the offered cape before moving to wrap the material around one of the crystals growing out of the wall "Thanks."

He had tugged at it for a little bit for all the good it had done given that the crystal had stayed stubbornly in the wall.

There had been enough shards of crystal on the ground however for him to gather a couple into the torn part of Kairatos' cape and then slip them into the pocket on his top, although it had meant having to remove his wand and slip it awkwardly into his belt instead.

And then he had followed the rest of the group as they descended the single narrow staircase heading downwards. As he walked carefully down, his green eyes had noted the covered arches and equally noted that they appeared to be blocked by rubble and whilst they may have been worth exploring, trying to uncover one would probably take much more strength and time than they had.

And so he had continued downwards until the staircase had reached bottom and opened up into a huge room - well cavern really.

The crystals here were different too, casting a light that was pale blue instead of the earlier purple, its cold light glinting off bones and skeletons lying in piles.

Not that Falias had a chance to really do more than that single quick glance as a sudden hiss from above had him looking up in time to see a freaking Giant Scorpion dropping down on them...

Some of the group had moved immediately on the attack, however Falias knew that his wand was not going to do much good here.

For a moment he contemplated his magic and then disregarded it as he wasn't sure that it would be any more useful than his wand and so instead he touched his ring as Hvergelmir had taught him on that night where they had met on a basketball court and called on the sunlight that was his aspect.

Because whilst he had no real idea how his aspect worked. perhaps the sunlight would do something here.

Quote:
Aspect of Earth - As upholders of virtue, Earth Knights have a saintly presence and seem to be always followed by sunlight, even at night. They have increased sensitivity to movements around them, and can always tell when someone is trying to sneak up on them -- which means there is no advantage to fighting them any way but honorably.

As it was- Paris was not wanting to get up or make sounds. He was just wanting it to all be over, and, for everyone to just go home himself included. Invasion fight another day. Almost die some other time. He really just wanted to go him, curl up and pretend that this never happened.

As he heard both the senshi and other knight ask to see if he as alright, Paris slowly lifted his arm and let out a very soft "yeah."

"Paris." He just kept laying on the floor. It was cool, and helped make the fact he wanted to just curl into a ball and die lessen just a hair.

Rolling onto his back he just stared up, blinked, then let out a long groan.
"I just wanted to help Caedus." Still, laying on the ground wasn't helping, and slowly getting up he looked around, grabbing a glowing crystal.

"..." He looked up again before looking at his fellow fallen companions.
"So, we should probably go into the building, just in case other stuff falls." Walking to the door he tugged on it experimentally, wondering if maybe they were just doomed to start with.

Aokigahara Page of Saturn

Aokigahara had followed the strange pull in his chest, the one that drew him towards the ruined building. To the Academy, that place that was supposed to belong to Knights, to all of them. His heart was racing, but he made every effort to stay as calm as possible, at least outwardly.

He had caught sight of Scholomance, which was encouraging; at least there was someone here he could rely on with some certainty. He hoped, at least.

The scorpion youma was a vastly unpleasant surprise.

"Oh, ******** these things," he growled under his breath. He was eager to have a more useful weapon than a paper lantern, but for the moment it was his only option. So he unwound the strings from his hand, spun it over his head, and threw his lantern at the youma as hard as he could.
