His breath tasted terrible. So did hers. It left her laughing part way through the kiss and into the next. She really didn't care; she wanted him anyways.

"S'just us today," she told him quietly in a momentary pause. Her nose pressed into his shoulder as she (hastily, lazily) attempted to pull his shirt over his head. "And I got a lot planned."

He wriggled to try and help. "Can't wait," he replied without irony, taking his turn to press his lips to the hollow of her neck, moved towards the crook to bury himself as he woke up more, little by little. "Off island I hope."

"Depends f'you want to leave the bed," she pointed out, "Might change yer mind in a bit."

She took his mouth again before he could argue.

She could hear his lazy laugh through it, and while he couldn't remember anymore if she was still wearing the dress or not, it didn't seem to matter much once they had their hands on one another.

"We will," Jack promised somewhere by her ear, one leg hooking her hip. "I wanna see everything."

Chel wore her lover like a prize, like the champion's belt he was. She cradled him through the house for their lazy leftovers breakfast, neither opting to be the one to mention the mess lest they have to be the one to clean it. You would have almost thought there was no threat lurking outside their door with the way she sauntered through the halls, drunk off success and satisfaction.

Sometime after that Chel had somehow been convinced back upstairs to pack her things; she told Jack the bare minimum for the sake of surprise. He needed a change of clothes, something warm and a few snacks. Anything more than that would be met with a shake of her head.

"Ready yet?" she asked impatiently, for maybe the third or fourth time. Chel had nothing more than a drawstring bag with a change of pants and an extra jacket. To say she wasn't the "prepared" type was understating it.

He didn't like surprises by nature, but the zipped lips made him curious. He poked Chel with various questions just to be difficult as he gathered his things. How cold is cold, were they staying overnight, did it involve more backwater places, and more random ones besides. Jack was in a rare silly mood, slinking about the place like a well fed cat, both in a rush and also lackadaisical in movements, hair even still a tousled from their fun. But he still packed more thoroughly than Chel did, despite the constant questions of her own.

"Ready," he eventually said as he slung his backpack on. "Lead the way, captain boss wife."

Chel took a moment to smooth over his hair before taking his hand down the stairs and out the door. Much like the siren she was, she led him to the portal with a smile on her face. It was hard trying not to think about all the hunters that surrounded them that didn't share their mood. It was hard to block anything out on this island.

At the portal Chel finally detached to have a short word with the portal guard, checking to make sure something was in place.

And when they went through the portal, Jack would find himself in pitch dark.

In contrast, Jack couldn't care less what others thought; today, he was happy to be public about his affection towards his wife, at least as far as not having a resting b***h face and actually smiling at someone went. If it all ended up being a dream anyway, he might as well take advantage of it.

Lingering back to let Chel whisper to the portal tech, he then followed her in and immediately froze. For a moment, Jack forgot it wasn't a mission and touched his jacket in search of a flashlight before remembering he didn't have one this time.

"Suspenseful beginning," he said, glad they were already holding hands. "I like it."

Chel smirked, not that he would be able to see it. Though he'd been offended at the notion before, Chel really did find Jack easy to read. Suspense was usually the most difficult one to afford with how well Jack picked up on her surprises.

"Stay put," she told him before letting him go to summon her bow for light the way one did a cell phone. What Jack would be able to see from the meager illumination was a set of theatre chairs arranged in a circle. She shuffled from one end of the room to the other and then the light disappeared altogether.

Unseen by Jack was a short exchange between Chel and a moon hunter. It wasn't unheard of for moon hunters being paid to protect important human world entities, and this particular science museum was filled with artifacts that were in fact important to protect.

However the museum at large was not Chel's concern at all. Chel had bartered and bribed and taken shifts on Christmas day for the ability to hold the planetarium hostage.

Chel still had yet to appear, but the lights would have at least turned on for Jack, allowing him to take a seat where he pleased.

It didn't have the ambience of a cave, and it wasn't cold or hot. The floor was solid, however, smooth--

He blinked as Chel pulled away, summoning Owain on the assumption that he was allowed to take a peek now. Not that it was necessary; shortly afterwards, the lights came on. Jack surveyed the circle of chairs with a curious frown, then cast a look towards where Chel had exited. Nothing about the room gave away anything in particular, but one thing was for sure: he was in for a show of some sort.

Unsure of whether to stand or sit for a few moments afterwards, Jack eventually desummoned his weapon and took a seat in the middle of the bottom half of the circle, glancing about for a sign of what was to come.

Eventually Chel emerged from behind a small door. With her entrance, the lights began to dim and a soft audio sound test began to play. Her eyes widened as she realized the show was quite literally starting without her, and she rather clumsily jumped over a few aisles to reach him.

Naturally she took a seat next to him, flipping the armrest up to put her legs over his lap. "Come here often?"

He was tilting his head up in case something would project there by the time Chel took her seat. "Real smooth," he teased, arm resting over the top of her chair. "So what're we huddling up in this theater for, dear wife of mine?" It only struck him then that no-one else had come in.

"Just love dark, empty theatres," she said sarcastically. Was Jack ever going to get tired of that word?

(She hoped not).

Despite Chel's flare for the flamboyant (she had been this close to booking the lazer light show), what projected on the screen was a rather basic night sky. Still beautiful, undoubtedly. Not China, but nice. Somehow a pleasant reminder that they didn't always have to live in extremes.

The voiceover began with a short speech about the stars, some small facts here and there as the stars rotated and zoomed out, an image of their galaxy. She was content to watch the blurry images go by; there was an odd fascination humans had with colorful lights and pretty pictures. She felt a little warmth spread in her chest and she took Jack's hand, their rings overlapping. Back in went the voiceover, beginning to explain the constellations.

"We look up at 'em so much," Chel explained, "Thought you would want t'know what yer lookin' at." Chel was contented with ignorance, but she was keenly aware her husband was not.

He wiggled his brows, for a moment a boy seven years younger. "So do I."

Jack quieted down as the show began, fingers entwining with hers. Figures, he couldn't help but think with wry affection. Eventually she would also outdo those plastic stars too. One more extravagant present to lay on, even if this was one they were sharing together.

Unlike their movie viewings, he was silent throughout the show, at most giving small "mm's" if she directed something at him while focusing his attention ahead. The stars weren't his passion, but it was always fun to learn something new, even if it ended up only being temporary. When the lights began to brighten again, he leaned his head against hers and whispered, "Who's the nerd now?" But the grin on his face showed clear enjoyment nonetheless.

And uncharacteristically, Chel was quiet too. She normally talked through all of their movies, blabbered and gossiped through dinner and video games. She couldn't stand silences, needed conversation to keep existing.

But somehow Jack's presence was barely registered as a presence sometimes. He managed to exist without activating her, now as much a part of her as her being alone and on her own. The starshow lasted for a good hour or two, and Chel couldn't remember another time when she'd been so quiet with a person for such a length of time. Occasionally she pointed at things (The Scorpius constellation comprises some of the brightest stars in the sky.) but never once did she comment.

Even after the show she was oddly contemplative; perhaps she was thinking about her place in the universe after being placed under a canvas of stars. Perhaps she'd just dozed off towards the end.

Either way she stayed firmly in her seat, having shifted her weight against him partway through. "Still you," she responded calmly.
