"What if...... I become conta---gious... and... it just makes what you have... worse..?" He tilted his head a little, frowning. He knew what she meant, but he didn't want to risk making her health decline to his own level. "Ssssometimes.... I get worse... being around others that.... are sick too..." He sighed, then coughed a little as something caught in his throat. Ugh.
xeizii.... please listen...... too dangerous....
"De---lilah... do... did....." He chewed at his lip, brows furrowing a little as he tried to decide how to ask this question... "Do... you ever... hhhear... thingsss....?"

Delilah continued to smile as she answered, "No one can make me worse but myself. So, I'll be okay." she punctuated her sentence with a bright look on her face. One that suddenly faded as her heart sank really hard. Her eyebrows furrowed in a bit of dismay.
Delilah, you're going to get sad. You have to stop.
Her eyes darted slightly and she took a single step back, very worried for that inevitability. She now knew that her illness could possibly make him more sick and she was beginning to regret trying to become his friend. The voice inside her head had been right and she was scared to share in the feeling of how regretful it was.
His words caught her attention, however, hear things. She slid her eyes to look into his. "...like.. voices?" she inquired, her face still showing a glint of surprise but mostly understanding.
She contemplated tell him about her voice, but analyzed why he would even asked and deemed it safe to answer. She nodded her head slowly. ".... i do.............do you?"

No one could...? Well, that was good... "Oh.... that would.... be so nice..." He sighed, then coughed a little, which caused him to not notice that she'd stepped away from him or looked particularly worried.
xeizii..... she knows...
He blinked slowly, then rubbed at an eye as he yawned a little. "I... do... just one....... they -- told me it... wassss just... the sssickness but.... i don't really.... believe it..." He felt a little... exposed, telling her this much but... she said she heard something too, so surely it must be alright.
"I heard that.... it's something different if.... you hear someone elses--- voice talking....... that's what... i hear.... ssssomeone else.... ta--aalking.... to me..."

She ran her fingers through her hair, pulling some behind her ear and then began to sign again. "I have one too. I mean, it's a little complicated." she tried to find the best way to explain it.
"There was another person inside of me. A spirit. A girl like me. She wanted to be a whole person again and I helped her do that." she shifted her gaze away for a moment, "She's gone now, but the remnants of her voice remain. I can still hear her like she's still there." Shifting her eyes back to him she noticed that he hadn't seemed to take note of her reaction to him possibly getting sick.
Stop talking to him.
"The voice tries to protect me from things that might hurt me. She was really good to me. They call them Manes."
You have to get away from him.
She sighed, a question prodding all too hard in her mind. "What if I-... What if I just make you sicker?" she asked, her voice wavered slightly, concern in her eyes as she was worried that maybe this was all a huge mistake that she let her emotions get her roped into. The hope that someone was actually like her. Delilah could feel herself wanting to get sad, but she had to remain calm or she may set off her own ability to infect others on accident.

"Another.... perssson...?" He tilted his head a little, then attempted to shift his position in his chair... It was... difficult, but he managed it eventually. "I don't.... kn---ow... if he's... a person..." He glanced away, thinking... did he even know his name? Did he have a name?
wither..........
"...he talksss to me..... and wh--en... I don't li---s'en.... bad thi--ngs... happen..." He sighed, thinking of a good way to explain it... "it's... not that.. he ma--kes... bad things... ha--ppen... he just... tellss.... me to be .... careful..." He coughed again, reaching up to cover his mouth despite the mask.
"...he says.... you'd do that.... m--ake me... ssssick... until i -- d---die... but i've been.... v---ery sick... before... so sick... i couldn't open my eyes..... a-and could just bare--ly.... breathe and.... i didn't die.... so.... i don't know... if he's right...."

Delilah nodded, understanding what he meant. "It sounds like the girl I talked to a lot in my mind."
Delilah's expression saddened as he revealed what his Mane had been saying about her.
He's not wrong.
She nodded very slowly.
She signed, slowly. More carefully. "...It's true." she closed her eyes and sighed. "The longer I stay around someone, the sicker they will become. It's why I stayed here alone for so many years. I didn't want to hurt anyone."
She could feel her sadness threatening to exist as she took a deep breath, her heart starting a hurt slightly as she continued to ignore it.
"When I get really sad, I accidentally make it all worse. I can't guarantee that if I cry, I won't infect you with something horrible... like I did when I was little..."
Delilah, don't. You're getting worked up.
She wanted to hold out hope that his words were true, that maybe he would be different. That no matter how much she infected him, he wouldn't die. But even so, it didn't entirely make her feel better about it. "Wouldn't it... hurt you... if I made you sicker.... If I..." her hands hesitated slightly. "If I infected you."

He blinked slowly, watching her answer him... She seemed hesitant to confirm the voice's warnings... but he didn't really blame her. She probably worried that he'd stop being friends with her. He swallowed, then reached for his water bottle to alleviate some of the dryness in his mouth before he could answer.
"It'sss.... okay..." He settled it back into its place, then stifled a little yawn. "I--..... I don't m-ind... if you make me... sssicker.... I don't really.... know what it's.... like to be h---healthy..." He shook his head slightly, starting to feel a little dizzy.
i'll... protect.. please don't... cry
He blinked, wondering what the voice had meant by that.. but at least it wasn't urging him to get away from her. "I... already... a--accepted that... I would probably die sssssoon..." He spared a glance over at his father, thankful he was far enough away that he couldn't hear. "It... mmmakes them... sssad... so I don't... talk about it.... often.... but.. Wh--while I'm... alive I want..... to be ha---ppy... Have... friends, if... I can..."

He didn't mind. Her thoughts were conflicted. Does she chose to be selfish, to fulfill his practically dying request? Or does she refuse it to possibly save him? Each option seemed pretty grim. If she refused, he could still very well die and she'd regret that even worse. Her mind was racing, calculating.
She came to a decision. Xeizii had already accepted what would happen, and at this point, so did she. She nodded as though determined but her face still mournful. She couldn't stop that emotion from showing on her face, her concern to be careful and delicate. She smiled underneath her mask, conflicting with her furrowed brows, begging on the brink of despair. She shoved her misery down hard as she kneeled down again to his level.
"Then it's decided!" she signed. "You can live with me. And we will be friends..... We can be happy." she swallowed hard.
You know what's going to happen, and yet you still do it.
"I'm going to do everything I can to make you better. There's a lab, and notes, and I've read so many books, and there's-..." she paused as she realized she had been signing pretty fast. Taking a deep breath as she calmed her frantic hands. "If I can use my gift to save you, I will find a way to do it. I promise."
You can't save him. Just like you couldn't save me.
A pain shot through her heart as she heard the voice in her mind, exhaling shakily as she concentrated very hard on keeping her emotions in control which wasn't exactly hard to do, it just took focus. It would honestly take a lot to get her worked up to a point in which she couldn't control it. Most cases, she would willingly let her emotions get out of control just as an added punctuation to her feelings, but that was also a pretty rare sight in itself.

He watched her silently while she thought it over. He knew it was a hard choice - her power could effectively kill him and she would feel responsible for it... but, still, he did like the idea of being able to live with someone who understood... Someone who knew what it was like. It was probably selfish of him to have said he would like to room together...
He blinked in mild surprise when she moved to his level and started signing again. His eyes narrowed as a small smile overtook his face. "I would like-- that..." He nodded his head gently. "It's okay... delilah.... you don't have to.... worry too much... about that." Still, he felt touched, happy to have made a friend who cared that much about his illness already.
Sleepiness was setting in though-- the world was getting dark.. he could have sworn he'd fallen asleep with his eyes open...
---
He blinked, facial expression dropping as the light stopped reflecting in his eyes. He sat upright, more proper, more lively than he had before. He examined the girl before him, the one Xeizii had been speaking to so happily, the one he knew would be trouble.
"Explain to me how it works." The wheeze was not there, it didn't take effort for him to speak. "Is it air born? Is it touch? What is it." He needed to know - needed to protect Xeizii from this. Since his host had decided to ignore his warnings, he might as well figure out how to combat this problem.

Delilah smiled, her eyes watering just lightly as she seemed replaced her feelings of anguish with immense relief. They both wanted this. Wanted someone to understand them, to not be alone anymore. It seemed like such a nice idea despite the implications of it's fatal end. She took a deep breath as she tried to shake her more grim emotions completely away.
Then Xeizii sat up, changed. Her eyes narrowed slightly analyzing their body movements. It was not hard for her to tell immediately that this wasn't Xeizii anymore. Then they spoke. Explain. She would have shown surprise had she not expected the question to eventually come up. And she definitely wasn't phased by the surface of the Mane, she knew how all of that worked. She closed her eyes trying to think about how her abilities worked again. She'd been alone for so long that she never needed to use them or had effected others, but she was sure that it was still there.
Opening her green eyes as they grew cold and hard. She lifted her hand to make a peace sign. "Th-there are two a-abilities... O-one I activate... it is t-touch based... th-though I can e-easily spread it f-from the floor l-like shadows... I c-can control that o-one unless I a-absolutely lose r-restraint of m-my d-despair. S-something that h-hasn't happened in a v-very l-long time..." she took another deep breath, her voice was calm and premeditated despite the stutter which she forced her words through. "T-the second... is p-passive... it's n-not exactly a-airborne... a-as it's an aura... the longer he st-stays around m-me.. he will g-get more sick... to c-counteract that... i w-will have to d-distance myself from him e-every so often.... o-or he can be h-healed..." she finished explaining as she closed her eyes and sighed. "...th-those are the o-only t-two abilites i h-have... that c-could-..." she paused, opening her eyes and looking away as they narrowed. "That could kill him." she spoke very clearly in her last sentence. She slid her eyes back to Xeizii. "M-my name is .. Delilah... by the way... What's y-yours?"

He listened, remaining perfectly still as she went over her abilities... She had stopped signing, presumably assuming he couldn't understand her. "I can understand your hand language." He stated after a moment, blinking as he tilted his head. "Xeizii cannot be healed while I am in control." He shook his head, "it would kill him." Hopefully she would understand that and not encourage it later on... Or at least check in with him before attempting to get him healed.
"He has a mask... with filters...It won't work, will it?" He frowned, black eyes drifting to the side as he considered the aura... No, it probably wouldn't work. She meant no harm, he could see that, but the urge to protect was making him hesitant to allow Xeizii to continue down this path. "Anything could kill him. Life is fragile." He returned his gaze to her, eyes still void of light or any sort of indication of how he was feeling.
"...My name is Wither."

Delilah gave a short nod of acknowledgement that she could continuing signing. "He can be healed if he is in control then?" she asked, trying to understand exactly what kind of plan they could formulate to make things easier on Xeizii. It was obvious neither of them wanted him to die, and would both make efforts to prevent that.
She shook her head, "The mask will not stop it. Think of is as an emission of illness that is transmitted in the form of waves or particles through space like air or any material medium, really." she paused, trying to think of a better way to put it. "Think of it like radio waves or visible light." No, that wasn't a good enough explanation. It wasn't exactly like that. "Think of it like an illness resulting from excessive exposure to..." she cleared her throat. "..e-electro-magnetic r-radiation." Not quite the same thing, but that seemed more appropriate, or as close as she was going to get to explaining what exactly she did to people. "That's why I will have to distance myself every now and again."
Life is fragile. She took in a deep breath, thinking on something, a distant memory. "If he could die at any moment... I want to make sure he dies happy..." she vowed as she slowly slid her eyes to look over Wither's black almost lifeless eyes.
"It's nice to meet you, Wither."

He watched her hands intently, thinking... She'd caught on quickly to the healing issue, which was nice. He hadn't had to explain it to anyone yet, this was the first time he'd spoken to anyone while in control of Xeizii's body. Even his parents had no idea that he existed. "Yes, he can be healed while I am not in control." He nodded, then tilted his head slightly at her many attempts to explain how her power worked.
He didn't really need to know that much, just that Xeizii's current methods for protection would not work, and that there really wasn't a way to protect him. "I see. I will tell him when he gets too sick." He sighed, and sat back in the chair, thinking more... His own power was affecting Xeizii negatively, yet he didn't know how to free himself... What was he here for? What did he need?
He glanced back to Delilah in time to catch her last statement, then nodded his head again. "It is nice to meet you as well."

She understood completely how Manes worked though the relationship between host and spirit varied, it was enough to comprehend how to handle the situation adequately. Relief washed over her as she found out the Xeizii could be healed on his own. She was sure they were on the same page about it, that the healing would probably only get rid of her effects on him but would not make him overall better.
She nodded in agreement over giving Xeizii warning signs. "Then he can let me know if I need to distance myself. Without healing, he will get better from my effects over time, though much slower."
She was calculating more things in her head as she tried to come up with more solutions, then it occurred to her the issue of his Mane. She remembered about her own, debating whether to say anything about how her Mane and her separated, what happened after her, why she was gone.
She nodded in response. She shifted her gaze to the side, "I'm also... trying to cure myself. If maybe I can stop that passive power, I won't hurt anyone anymore... I won't hurt him." she was filled with a heavy determination to help Xeizii.
You know you'll lose both of them if you fail.
Delilah seemed uneasy about something.
I warned you. Every time you open up the heart shaped box of yours. You always leave death in your wake.
Delilah straighten up, looking off toward the main building in deep thought.

"I will ask him to tell you. Sometimes he has a knack for ignoring my advice, however." He sighed, and shook his head a little. "I wish you luck in your endeavor. I can't help. I have to go now, he's regaining consciousness. He will need to sleep." He nodded, then returned to the position he had been in when he'd taken over for Xeizii.
-----
He blinked, dizzy and out of sorts, then sat up a little more, tired eyes reflecting light again as he stared at Delilah. "Oh... I'm ssssorry, --Delilah.... I... f--fell asleep...."
