Wrathful Demigod

There lady had had other affairs to attend to tonight, so it was left to captain Quartz to escort the newest addition to their happy little household, much to Quartz's apparent chagrin, and Ceraskia's quiet amusement. It had been something of a shock, finding out her massage therapist at work was not only a member of the Negaverse as well, but that he was under Ms Marinus--General Schorl's-- thumb. And apparently unhappy to be there, though the dancer could not see why. She was as enamored with the lovely blonde antiquarian, as she had been before her corruption. Perhaps even more so. A fact that had also seemed to bother the captain.

This was her first visit to Negaspace, and upon arrival there had been the softest sound of awe from the dainty senshi as Quartz had escorted her through to the location of the meeting, her small hand resting lightly on his arm. It was all a bit overwhelming, really. The rush of chaos, the sensory periphery of hundreds of powered bodies in a relatively small place. Bright, she thought, like points of light that seemed to glow behind her eyes.

Within the meeting itself the small corrupt had hung back, lingering beside Quartz. There was a nervous energy about the demure senshi, a soft flush to pale cheeks, and uncomfortable expression resting on delicate features. The hand not still curled at the crook of the captain's elbow had risen to curl across her stomach like a shield. Excited to be there, undoubtedly, but acutely aware of just how much skin she was showing, and not by choice. On stage it was different. That was her element, costumes were a part of ballet, and she thought nothing of it while preforming. Here and now, it weighed heavily on her mind.

Heavy enough that she was tempted to ask the tall man beside her if she could borrow the length of dark fabric that made up a part of his uniform. She refrained, but just barely.

There was no real lower limit to the number of shits Quartz could have given about Ceraskia's discomfort about the state of her uniform. This number currently stood at zero, or maybe below it; it might easily have stretched into the negative thousands. She didn't like the little cutout in her outfit, or maybe the showgirl butt-plume? He didn't care.

He was here not even as a babysitter, but as a simple chauffeur: teleporting Ceraskia in and out because she couldn't do it herself, making sure she could find the right room. They'd buzzed his office long enough for him to pick up some busywork to occupy his time, but otherwise, the affairs of corrupted senshi were not his affairs.

A single, small bee, called up from the Rift proper, crawled from place to place over the jewelry that decorated his chest, glowing periodically. All-One's presence was a simple matter of convenience, in this instance: the youma freed up Quartz from having to entirely pay attention while still benefiting from whatever news might come out of this little hoe-down.

"I don't know most of these people by more than just their files," he leaned over to explain to Ceraskia. "Don't make friends with anybody too fast, in case your new friend turns out to be a dumbass and you're saddled with them forever. Always be nice to the cats. I don't care if you're allergic and you literally can't breathe -- make sure you're nice to the cats. Over there, that's General Umber," he said, pointing for her convenience, "universe's foremost uptight hardass, in my limited experience, not real big on the buddy-buddy. Not sure who he's got with him."

Having delivered what he considered to be the bare minimum perfunctory run-down, Quartz opened up the folder he was carrying with him and began shuffling things around.

"Questions?" he asked without looking back down.

Oh man there were more cats! And no one paying him any attention. Was Haymitch not being cute enough? He could fix that. He could fix that right now. He was going to fix that right now. He left the letter at Amphi's feet, which literally just read "HI" so terribly written he probably tried to do it himself with his teeth, and bounded over to one of the other cats. This cute black kitty had peircings and a red star on her forehead!

Oh she was a pretty one.

"I like your forehead star!" he said, attempting to jump into the chair. He took it a run and leapt, falling onto his face. No! No place was too high for him to reach! He was a climbing fiend after all! He scrunched up his face, picked up his little hat, and tried again.

All in all, the kitten made a fool of himself, but at least it was entertaining!

A few minutes into the meeting, Jarosite walked into the room and took up position at the back of it. The general had asked Albireo if she wanted to go, but the young woman wasn't leaving bed today. He'd squished her in with blankets and a big hug, and ported into Negaspace in her place.

He was uneasy about their conversation, but figured he'd at least make a presence and perhaps show her they missed her. If they even remembered her. No wonder she was so lonely... maybe if he saw that cat... Dahlia was it? he'd ask her about it privately. The tall, blue haired general pulled out a small notebook to take notes, and took status of the room. Multiple agents, with a general or two, and a bunch of corrupts and cats. And a very... hyper kitten. That one was new.

It had also been something of a shock to find out that mild mannered Lazarus was not so mild mannered in the privacy of Ms Marinus' flat. A lush, as far as far more surly than she ever would have imagined. Ceraskia was still not used to it. She lifted dark eyes to him as he leaned to speak with her, listening quietly to the words of advice, as well as the charitable introduction. Still, there was a certain gritty sense to what he was saying that made him worth listening to from time to time.

Lips pursed, she glanced where he was pointing. "There are a lot of agent's here," she stated simply. It wasn't exactly a question, but there was an implied curiosity there, along with the subtle tilt of her head to one side. As many, if not more agents. She wondered if that was a normal occurrence.

She blinked as something caught her eye, a soft glow on the twisting filigree of the captain's collar, and she lifted her hand to point at the tiny insect that seemed to be perched that. "Is that a youma?" It seemed a little small, though her experience with youma was limited in full to what she'd been told.

"Officers are the majority of our forces," Quartz answered without looking up. The file he was working through was unusually well filled out, but in atrocious shape -- it was various officers' reports all stacked together, with no regard to the connection of any facts between them. Quartz had a series of paperclips attached to the front of the folder; periodically, he pulled one off and used it to group pages together. "And distrust for corrupted senshi still runs high among some officers, even though you joined this bullshit parade of your own free will and I didn't. Some of the people here will likely just be sitting in to make sure you're not fomenting some kind of precious rebellion, or whatever. Sorry to say, but them's the breaks, kid."

He looked down when he noticed her pointing out of his peripheral range of vision. "Yes and no," he answered. "All-One's a youma, but it has quite a few bodies -- this is just one."

Soyala had absolutely carried herself down to this meeting of Corrupt Senshi. Corrupts, after all, were the first and most sacred responsibility of a Guardian Cat, and she took her responsibilities very seriously.

She made a brush by Iolite's chair, and greeted her with a polite "evening, sister", but keeping the two of them too near each other was likely not going to go well. Especially since Iolite seemed to have her own fuzzy little problem to attend to.

Instead, she had spotted her absolute favorite officer, and with him, a Senshi she had Awakened, and she wove between legs in as dignified a manner as she could to get to Quartz and Ceraskia. There were no offers or invitations made, but as soon as she found them, she casually climbed her way up Quartz to settle around his shoulders.

"Quartz, Ceraskia. How lovely to see the both of you here," she said, and she was either purposely ignoring whatever she might have interrupted, or she just did not care.

Fifty-fifty, really.

Being talked to made him jerk a little, Cerussite turning to look at the senshi, a startled expression on his face. Tinges of pink brushed over his cheeks, and he automatically wanted to draw away, to shrink in on himself and hide away, unnoticed.

Be strong, said the voice in his head. Don't shy away.

"Yes," he said, and it was low. The blush deepened, and then Cerussite said, in a slightly louder way, "Yes, I'm - I'm Cerussite."

Amphitrite's face lit in visible delight as the kitten dropped the letter at her feet, and belly rubs were more than eagerly provided. "Oh hello - I haven't seen you around before darling, " she murmured gleefully, and another cat, this one full grown and winding around her legs, only amplified her happiness. "Good evening to you too, little lady!" She was so relieved that some cats had answered her broadcast, too - they were as necessary to her team as corrupt senshi themselves were. Mauvians and senshi, regardless of their alignment, there was no denying they should run together.

(Putting aside her own fondness for cats as a whole. She really, really missed having a cat around.)

She tensed, visibly, as she saw Leucite chatting with Chrysocolla. Although she wanted to act unphased by it, the fact of the matter was she wanted him to have no part, no interaction with her sister beyond the barest necessity - and she really should have warned Poppy, but to be honest, she hadn't expected Leucite to be among the officers that would show their faces tonight. Why didn't I think he'd come? Of course he'd come. Of course he'd have to come.

Others were arriving now, and for a moment she felt a pang of disgust as she realized Ochre was among them - that is until she realized the younger of the two brothers was not alone. A wave of something like euphoria shot through her when she realized that Umber had come, and the sense of dread and frustration that had seeped in when she saw Leucite was reduced to essentially nothing in that moment. Umber had, whether he'd meant to or not, provided her with both a mission and acted as a springboard to go to Laurelite with more ideas that had led to more responsibility... and in some ways, this very meeting. They'd been her ideas, of course, but talking to him, working with him, it'd opened so many doors that just wouldn't have even occurred to her on her own.

There were more corrupts, more cats arriving, and she felt her heart begin to swell with pride in spite of the number of officers who were there - she knew why they were there, of course, and they were welcome. One day, they would look back and when they thought of corrupt senshi and whether or not they were loyal, it would be her name that came to their lips first and foremost for her virtues rather than Ochre for his betrayal.

Kerberos was still not there. Neither was Cyllene. A pang of disappointment rolled in her stomach. But there was still time, and they might well just be busy for all she knew.

Her attention was back on the new officer as he spoke, and the flush of color across his cheeks made her smile rather warmly at him. Initially, he reminded her a bit of Chrysocolla. "I'm Amphitrite. Senshi of shells. I was new, too, not so long ago, " she said with a light, soft laugh. "We take care of each other here. So if you ever need anything - training or anything, really - don't hesitate to give me a call, alright handsome?"

She winked playfully at him, although the corrupt wasn't really flirting - not here, not now, and not with him. "I have to go take care of some things now, but if you're looking for some good people to talk to - that man, over there - " Amphitrite motioned back towards Umber with a light bob of her head. "He's General Umber. He's a little intimidating, but he's very, very smart, and a very good person to know. Worth talking to. There's other officers here, of course, but he's probably got the most to offer you. I'm about to head that way myself if you want to tag along - if not, feel free to hang around after the meeting. Maybe we can talk, get some coffee or something. Okay?"

She took the time to flash one more smile at him before she turned away, clearing her throat as she called, loudly enough for all to hear, "It'll be about five minutes before the meeting starts - so please start settling down, everyone. Thank you."

A faint rattle of nerves shook in her chest before she called, more quietly, "Chrysocolla! Come here, please!" and then turned to begin approaching Umber, pausing to flash a rather pretty corrupt she hadn't seen before a grin. Have to talk to her later, too - there were a lot of corrupts she hadn't seen before here, come to think of it. It warmed her to think she'd get the chance to know them all in the near future; her family was about to grow.

She stopped before Umber, giving him a polite little bow, her smile warm. "It's been awhile, General - congratulations, by the way. Your promotion suits you." The corrupt did not bother to look at Ochre. "Thank you so much for coming. How have you been?"

"We all have bad days," Leucite added with a small chuckle. "I'll extend you the same offer I extended your sister when I first met her. If you need any training or guidance, don't hesitate to come find me."

With that, he noted that Amphitrite was calling for her sister so he gave the girl a small nod and bow. "I believe your darling sister is calling you, best hurry over to see what she needs."

With that, he turned his attention back to the new arrivals, taking note of things and wondering exactly what this was all going to be about.

He'd talk with Captain and Lieutenant later on, in the privacy of his own home, and with that settled and the meeting soon to start the General drifted on by a group as he headed himself for a chair. As he walked his fingers worked at unclasping his cape and removed that and his coat. Left in a vest and frilly shirt, coat and cape draped over his left arm, he found himself a chair to settle into and wait for things to start. Taking note of who had notebooks, which faces he knew, and where Katya was he was busy even as he relaxed and slumped right into a chair.

He appeared lazy, too relaxed and comfortable, but he was observing whilst being comfortable. A few cats had turned up, one appeared young and loud, very interesting. Tilting his head as he his gaze moved about those gathered. From one corrupted senshi to another before looking over each agent. A few faces he knew while many he was unfamiliar with, something he'd have to fix and sooner rather than later.

The former member of the intel department was surprised to see someone with paper work at the meeting; that was dedication. He had no doubt they were also paying attention to the gathering and would pay equal, if not more, attention to the meeting once it got underway.

Finally his eyes came to rest on Katya who had been seeking attention from the corrupted who was hosting the event. "Katya, here." He called out gently, knowing she'd hear him and he needn't raise his voice.

Little lady? She purred at the words and rubbed herself against the corrupted senshi's legs some more, weaving between them and butting her head to the others legs. "You say the sweetest things." She replied and butted her head to a leg to punctuate it. "Such a lovely, proper, senshi you are." Yes, this one she liked and this one she would have to see again, outside of a gathering like this.

"Your sister mentioned you to me, said I should meet you." She said nodding her head now. "I can see why. We must meet after this, another evening." She would have her General host the meeting, or at least be in attendance as it was easier for him to teleport her places than for her to walk. Why walk when you could teleport? Walking was so tiring and took far too long.

hearing her name called her ears flickered and her green eyes zeroed in on Benitoite. Turning back to the corrupted she smiled up at her. "I must go, find myself a seat. But you will do wonderfully, we must talk soon." Turning she hurried off toward Benitoite and seeing the bundle of cloth in his lap she jumped up and settled herself down into the bundle of heavy fabric.

There was no denying that Stibnite was more than a little amused by the number of senshi that appeared to have known Leucite when they were on the other side. While one seemed willing to forget any discomfort, others did not. She could not help but smile at Ampitrite's pure distrust and dislike of the man.

But she also made a mental note of them personally. Her own distrust of grew as she learned how many had not come to their cause originally. Oh yes, Stibnite knew she still had so much to learn. But for now, she decided it was time to find a place to listen.

And so she moved away from Leucite, the young agent did not take a seat but stood in the back where she could move easily should it be needed. Oh it was clear she was not at all comfortable in the situation at hand. Stiff. That was a good way to put it.

But she was not alone in the back. A general appeared to have the same idea. With a nod of her head, Stibnite gave him a half smile. "Good Day Sir. Mind if I join you?" Rank. It is was it is.

Umber glanced toward the movement in his periphery, similarly mint-haired, he noted Warhol - or Chrysocolla now - interacting with a captain. She looked significantly more adjusted now than she had when she first corrupted; he imagined, then, that chaos found her suitable - or vice versa. In response, he issued an acknowledging nod.

Elsewhere in the room, he spotted Captain Quartz, looming toward a corrupt he didn't recognize. Some kind of bug buzzed around him. Fitting, for how he reeked of pointless misery. He expected nothing pleasant to come from those lips.

The room was abuzz with a pleasant din; many officers and corrupted senshi alike interacted with each other to a positive degree. Umber hadn't gotten a sense that corrupted senshi differed greatly from agents beyond power abilities, so he lacked the understanding for why agents needed inviting in the first place. Their origins harkened to other worlds, but chaos separated them well enough. Even Ochre showed no interest in fleeing to the realm he purportedly inherited when he came into his power. Haüyne, Amphitrite, and Warhol each stemmed from the White Moon, and none displayed discernible interest in returning to it. Even here, he recognized no outward animosity.

He supposed it was his responsibility, now, to quash such mistakes.

Umber's attention rose from the room to Amphitrite when she made herself known before him, and Umber stood to show similar respectfulness to what she offered him. He nodded his thanks to her for the compliment, and resumed with the questions demanding voice. "No less busy. Ochre shows basic cooperation with the Negaverse now. He will behave well for the meeting." A cursory glance was spared in his brother's direction with no outward intimation of repercussions. "There's still a lot of research to be done.

"Alkaid mentioned you, too. She met with me on her own project. I have you to thank.

"Are you well?"

Ochre, however, continued to stare blankly. His gaze passed over the whole of the room unfeelingly before it settled on a pair of cats - both mostly dark. They looked cute, inviting, and terribly soft. Carefully he stood and started to approached. The area felt crowded, certainly, but he thought he could wade through the bodies well enough without slamming into someone or shoes starting to tread on his hair.

He would've wondered if all corrupts had this problem, but kitties.

Amphitrite's call made Chrysocolla stop in her tracks, turning her head so quickly it might have given her whiplash - and with a gentle wave and a "Thank you...!", she left Leucite's side, joining her sister with all the aptitude of a tired puppy. Excited, certainly, but -- teleportation still took a certain amount out of her, and she'd never been particularly graceful. Nothing would change that, and Chryso was okay with that, really! It was, well. It was just that everyone else seemed to be a little better at it than she was.

"I'm sorry if I shouldn't have been talking to him, um, it's just...he looked kind of familiar...what is it, Amphi?" The girl beamed up at her sister, giving a polite curtsey to Umber - "A-and it's nice to see you too, Umber...! How are you? I guess he's -" a general flap of the hand in Ochre's direction, as he wandered off to go greet cats, which...well, that made Chrysocolla smile all soft and gentle. He didn't seem too bad, although his outfit left...something to be desired. "He's Ochre, right...? Your brother?"

Of all the things she had expected to happen at this meeting, the kitten running over to her, was not it. She blinked at him when he spoke, before her ears swiveled back awkwardly. "Uh... Thank... you?" She said slowly, her tail coming to wrap itself around her paws. Io was momentarily distracted from the dark ball of fluff as her sister brushed against the chair, offering a greeting. "Sister." She said cooly, not bothering to acknowledge Soyala further.

Things never ended well when they were together.

A solid thunk caught the black cat's attention and Io leaned forward just enough to see that the kitten had face planted onto the floor. "...What are you doing Little One? It's a little too high for you." Her words didn't seem to matter though as the kitten seemed determined to get up. With each failed attempt, Iolite's ears sank a bit lower till they drooped. "Please. Just stop. Who know's what damage you've caused to yourself..." She sighed, shaking her head.

However, her shake quickly turned into a double take as she noticed the red haired corrupt approaching them. It appeared that she had more company. Thankfully, not another kitten. Human's she could handle, for the most part, and the corrupt was a welcomed distraction from the inevitable headache she was bound to get watching the Kitten miss the chair by a few inches. Her ear's perked, as she cocked her head to the side curiously. "...Hello." Came another slow response.
