Discussing government, surely is shall be a riveting discussion. Shannon's shoulders slumped a bit but she shook her head and planned out which government she was going to talk about for her presentation and then did an outline in her head. When it came to be her turn she confidently spoke up. "I chose the Demon government since that is the one I'm most familiar with being a Demon myself. The Demons used to be ruled by the Sovereigns and their family. The Sovereigns would also delegate out power for some of the area's. In today's government the Sovereigns have been replaced by the Great Council and elected governors." Short and to the point, she was happy with her presentation and gave the floor up for the next person.

Dahlia beamed when it was her turn to speak. She had a hard time picking her favorite historical figure, but when she finally figured it out, she could hardly wait to talk about them!

"My favorite historical figure is Argus the Stoneskilled!" She exclaimed, flailing her hand out as she spoke. "They were a Litch who made the soul stones that all the adults use today! Without them, none of us would have had the chance to live, and a lot of us wouldn't be here right now! I think that's really important and that's why I chose to talk about Argus!"

She sat back in her seat once she was done talking, but continued to grin with pride. Having someone like Argus from half of her race made her feel proud, as though she was a direct product of they're genius. And, really, wasn't it true? Without Argus, a lot of people wouldn't have been born, including her parents!

Sequoia was uncharacteristically nervous when it was her turn to talk about her favorite historical figure. Being a Grimm, she didn't know of any prominent people in her race, or really of anyone important still alive today. Even after looking things up and taking the time to read through everything, she still hadn't found anything important enough from her tribe. Therefore, she was forced to look elsewhere.

"... I really wanted to talk about an important Grimm in my history,..." She began, glancing away. "But, after looking around, it seems we never really had anyone of importance..."

She shuffled her feet, frowning, and took a breath in.

"So, I decided that I wanted to talk about Graven Frostfyre, the Litch who gave land to the Imps a long time ago." She continued, fiddling with her fingers. "I think they're important because they gave another race land when they really needed it and they didn't have to. It was nice of them to do that."

She glanced away, preferring to look out the window instead of at Tethys, and whined.

I didn't expect this to break my heart as much as it did. ; n;

Tethys was quite happy with who everyone had chosen to talk about, it seemed that Litches and Fallen were quite popular! Perhaps he should focus on them, next... But little Sequoia just about broke his heart. He shook his head with a low hum. "It isn't that... there wasn't anyone important, Sequoia." He paused, thinking, "A lot of... ancient Grimm history, has been lost... We're certain there were... important people, but we don't know who they were... Cheer up, I'm sure with... the revelation of the new Tribe... we'll learn much more about Grimm culture soon..."

Sequoia glanced toward Tethys as she was addressed and raised her hands to cover her face. She knew her eyes were misting and it was so embarrassing, but she couldn't help it. All she really knew to do at the moment was nod and force herself to smile.

"I hope so, I really want to know more about my culture." She replied, wiping at her eyes. "It's hard looking around and seeing that everyone else has something to look back to, when I don't. But, maybe that'll change soon... Thanks Mr. Tethys."

Well, another day, another round of classes. However, this class involved something Zephyr wasn't fond of, presentations. Wasn't it bad enough that he had to answer questions? He sighed.

"Alright, so, government." He began, shifting his stance a time or two. "I picked the Fallen, of course, I really didn't see a reason to look into anything else. ... Not that the governments of other races aren't interesting, I'd just prefer to chat about my own."

He paused, his eyes glancing to his right as he thought of what he'd say after that, and prayed to the Nine that he wouldn't mess this up.

"The Fallens are governed by elders, with the highest being called Arch Regents. They decide everything for us." He continued, clearing his throat. "Like, kids my age would let everyone older than I am make decisions because we're kind of... Put into boxes by age? Is that what you'd call it? I don't know. All I know is that I'm supposed to let people who are older than I am judge everything and I sit in my age group. ... Or that could be just what I've taken from it."

He shrugged his shoulders, looked to Tethys, and shuffled back to his desk. Well, if there wasn't any objections after this, he could consider his presentation done and wait for class to end. Hopefully no one had any questions to ask him, because he really had nothing else to say.

Piper's tail wagged behind her as she listened to the other students as they talked about their favorite historical figures. There really were a lot of important historical figures from the past and even in the present. She could only imagine how many more there would be in the future. Who was to know how many more things there were to be done out there!

She could understand how the green-Grimm felt in the room. She really wished there were more Girmm to talk about, surely there had been important ones in the past. Their history had simply been lost however. She was also part demon though, so she decided to talk about a famous demon. "My favorite would have to be King Ylorah! He created the Sovereign's Vow which helped to bring peace to the many nightmare races! Sure, we all still have our problems sometimes. But we mostly get along now!"

Why did she always have to speak up in her classes? Couldn't she just maybe write a paper about her favorite person from history and turn it in to the teacher later? For them to read on their own and to save Eilwen from the looks of all the other students in class on her. Her tails flicked in agitation when it finally came around to her, but the anger quickly turned into shyness and more worry than anything. She cleared her throat and found the nerve to talk out to the class.

"I really like Saint Cassiel. He was the first one to try writing the history of the Fallen! Fallen knew very little about themselves and where they came form, so I admire him for trying really hard to figure it out and also create so many books for others to read as well!" You had to appreciate what other people did for their race.

User ImageMaeva perked up when Tethys said that they were going to be going over government. She'd already decided on which one she'd present about and had the outline halfway done whenever he let them free to do their research. History was by far one of her favorite subjects and she was confident that she'd give a good presentation.

"The demons' government was actually a monarchy for quite some time. The rulers were named The Sovereigns and they delegated local power to sworn lieges who would rule a specific geographic area. The sovereigns have since given over ruling power to the Great council that was founded after the 50 year war, and the lieges have been replaced with elected governors.

In fact, a lot of the current governments have given over ruling power to the Great council, or have a representative on it. I would hate to see what would happen if something major were to happen to the council and the various races were left on their own to deal with it. Though, it would be interesting to see what would happen." Maeva's presentation started out strong though towards the end she couldn't help but add in her own musings. Whoops. She hastily took her seat with a sheepish look. "Oh, I chose the demon's government partially because I am one, and partially because I like the way it had been set up. The local rulers could note what was going on in their area and let the monarch know what was going on without said monarch having to travel throughout the country to get the information."

User ImageGovernments? That couldn't be too hard. Elliah took notes on what Tethys said, writing down where in the book she could find the answers. History wasn't her strong suit, but with a bit of concentration she could work her way through it. As they were released to work on their presentation, the bapho rubbed a hand across their face. Most of the other students, she had overheard, were doing the government of their own race. While baphomet government was interesting, she didn't want to stick with the mold. Flipping to the chapter in their book that covered governments, she stuck her finger on the page in the hopes it would be something different.

Hm. Litches? Okay, she could work with that. Elliah read through the chapter on it, taking notes on what she thought was important. By the time she was done, she had a pretty good idea of how to present it.

"I chose the Litches' government, because, well, I thought it would be better for me to do a race that wasn't my own," she started. "Litches government consists of Wardens and Councils, with the council members being called an Elder. The councils are based in their three major cities and deal with the affairs of their individual city and its' surrounding area. The Wardens are the ultimate decision-makers, but they can't act without the consent of the council. I didn't find any information on how they choose wardens or elders, but I'm sure I just wasn't looking in the right books," Elliah wrapped up her presentation with what had been bothering her, planning on asking Tethys after class about that.

Laviticus had a slightly sour expression on his face. His sister had chosen the same historical figure as he had chosen to talk about. Because they were related, would it be seen as copying? Lavi scoffed a little bit. But he had made up his mind, and he had really wanted to talk about Argus themself.

Glancing away from his sister, Lavi took a deep breath. "I, too, rather love Argus the Stoneskilled." he said a little flatly. "I know that this probably sounds a little redundant with it having been said so soon, but yes -- the reason we now have eternal soulstones is because of Argus. And what my sister said is true - without him soulstones wouldn't be as they are today, and things would be far more complicated for all of us. If it weren't for him creating stones that could be stored indefinitely, many of us wouldn't exist. Cache children likely would have never experience life. And who knows -- maybe all of our races would be near extinction, if not dead. Thankfully, Argus existed. And for that, I am grateful. Both our parents were cache children, and if it weren't for Argus we may not have ever had lives of our own."

Parodia yawned throughout the class. Why was everything soooo boring?! Perigor seemed really frustrated with his answer and this caused the girl to frown. She had liked it. She was sitting in the seat to the left of him, so she reached over and patted his hand gently. "Hey... you did good Peri." she whispered to him, flashing a sweet little smile at him.

After trying her hand at comforting one of her friends she sunk back down in her seat and found herself yawning again as people continued on. When it finally came to her turn her mood was getting sour and she was eager to get out of this class. She stood and smiled toothily, showing off her mutation. "I like the three geist princes who sacked Alycone the best, which you'll probably find kinda weird since I'm a baphomet." She shrugged her shoulders and continued on. "My people still hold grundges, I think, but I understand how the princes felt. They just wanted to have fun, which I can relate to. I like fun things. Unlike this class... I don't really relate to anyone else, so it was a kinda easy choice!" She sat back down in her seat.

Bibiana chewed her lip as she thought about the assignment. It didn't seem so hard, even if she didn't really like speaking in front of others. She supposed it could be fun though. She scanned the textbook and chose one that sounded cool. Baphomets. Ha. That was fun to say~ Once it was her turn, she stood up and read from her paper.

"Baphomet government are led first by what's called Rexes, and there's one for each of the three factions: Alcyone, Bramblewood, and Moonspear. After the Rexes are the Elders and they govern the Baphomets locally. After the 50 Year War, the Rexes kept some of their power but they also let the Great Concil make some of the decisions."

Well, that wasn't as hard as she thought it would be. Yay!

Courting rituals. Well, didn't that just make the pale senior blush? Not half as much as that health assignment though. Really, she thought she might die of embarrassment from that one. She didn't, but now she had to look up courting rituals. Then then talk about them in front of the whole class. Great. Just...perfect.

When it was her turn, she stood up and tried to control the light trembling in her legs. It would not be okay if she fell out while she talked. Taking a deep breath, she spoke. "Um...I chose the c-courting rituals of the Demons. There seems to b-be a dichotomy between the upper and l-lower classes when it comes to courting and r-relationships. The upper class tends to marry for less...romantic reasons, like honor or duty. The lower class almost always marries for love. Demons are a-also known to be fairly generous both with gifts and affection, though it's mostly the lower class who take things less seriously than the upper class."

Oh good. She could sit down now. She hoped that was good enough...

Courting practices wasn't something Taegan was very familiar with, but they supposed that other races had their own way of doing things. Though to be honest, it all seemed strange to them, especially the way the Imps did it. Litches were much more practical, in their mind. Taegan chose the Imps for their assignment, since they were so different.

"Imps, as very affectionate and physical beings, tend to jump into relationships quickly. They are a bold race and will often have relationships with multiple partners included. To other races, it could be confusing as to what kind of relationship the Imp wants, but they will always clarify when asked."

Seemed simple enough, they guessed.
