Not really. i feel like i have the right to use the word any way i want. If someone is going to take offence to it, thats there problem. Some people use it as an insult, but insults are only as powerfull as the person persives them to be.

I tend to embrace any slag term for being homemosexual that comes along. I got to the point were i was telling my GF to refer to me as a dyke (or her dyke, or that naaasty dyke, whatever the mood may be)
I duno, i never let words have much of a power over me. I walk through the halls and here the word dyke, or f**, or queer shouted at me (from behind, damn cowards) and tend to respond with a simple "yeah, and?" or "damn right" or just a simple backwards middle finger (my fave insult, its so simple, yet it gets the job done!) I just choose to redefine what derogatory or not.
So yeah, now being called a dyke in school kind of gives me a nice...tingly feeling...

Well I'm not going to cry over this issue.
It's just something that has developed over our youth who say it all the time when they're not smart enough to think of another word.
And if I'm insulting someone, please laugh at me.

Yeah Has anyonw noticed when you actually are positive about your sexuality being homsexual, you do realise how many people say that stuff... It could be used as discrimination as well

It could be used as discrimination as well Eh, I've noticed it more. But that's could just be because it was on my mind at the time. For example, in english, When I was sitting there one day and listening to people talk with my eyes closed I realized how many people actually said like all the time, haha I never realized how annoying it could be until then.

scream It drives me mad! I want to smack those people for beign stupid. What if i walked around asying "That's mormon," or "That's Black!" i'd have things thrown at my skull. I think we should issue a law allowing people to kick whoever they hear saying that. Just once, but maybe it'll invoke a sense of restraint. Like the shock collars people buy for dogs... hey there's an idea, shock collars! Who's wih me?

Eh... personally it doesn't bother me. It's such a widespread thing, so it's not like I could change it if I wanted to... However, I don't really feel like it's an issue. It's a word... big deal... I can call them a jackass, but it really doesn't change who they are, and it definitely doesn't change what a donkey is XD So if you get my drift... it's not causing problems for me, or any gay person for that matter, so why make it an issue?

I wouldn't say that to insult anyone. Don't worry. wink It just tends to slip my mind occasionally and I hate that. crying

I really don't find it offensive. My friends will say it all the time knowing that I am gay and everytime they will say "Oh! Sorry!" I always have to tell them that I really don't care. Most of the time when people say it they really aren't referring to homosexuality anyway. It's just like the word f*****t. Gay and f*****t will never stop being used negatively, so I have decided that if you use them more they won't even mean what they mean anymore. I call people faggots all the time and I say things are gay. They are just words. Nothing more.
