Jason didn't need Riley to answer the ghosts question. He already knew, as he had known ever since he had gained his sword; it was the same answer that every FEAR creature would give for wanting him. It was still no less horrid that she wanted to kill them though, he really didn't want to die.
She continued though, his frightened eyes narrowing at her chosen words. "T-thats not fair. Claiming he's a traitor, when his own kind is trying to kill him. Who else can he turn to? No, I think you're the only traitor here."
It wasn't his smartest idea, taunting Riley like this, but maybe she would focus more on him then the ghost. Then maybe he could grab the two girls and flee while he distracted the...purple tentacle monster here.
Yeah, that.
He didn't answer her when she asked, because he really didn't want to see the real her.

Riley giggled, and perhaps that was the most disconcerting sound she could have made. It tinkled with amusement, and nothing about the moment should have been amusing. He's braver than I expected, isn't he Yuki? Riley murmured, brushing her hand down Jason's hair. The brave ones always scream the loudest. Do you remember how you screamed? I do. She sighed, reminiscing fondly over the memory. When the moment passed, her nails bit into Jason's skin, holding him firmer and tighter than was comfortable for breathing. You want to save him. He wants to save you. But who- She paused, collected her thoughts, and tried again. I'm simply waiting for you both to come to terms with the reality in front of you. Neither of you can save the other. You're both mine, now. These frivolous thoughts of self-sacrifice are merely a waste of all of our time. Get over it. Despite still holding his throat constricted, she brushed the backs of her fingers from her other hand against Jason's cheek, and sweetly spoke with pause on each word as she regarded both men. You. Are both. Going to die.

Wow, someone thought he was brave. Or, well, braver. That was something he didn't expect to be called that day. Though she wasn't wrong about screaming the loudest; he was convinced he had won that title by a mile. As she continued he felt anger rise up inside, guessing that Yuki had already be 'killed' by this creature. He didn't want to think about the ghost, screaming as he was being tortured. His anger vanished when he felt the hold on him tighten, swallowing on impulse as if that was gonna make things better, trying to draw breath and finding it extremely difficult to do so. He'd needed to act soon, striking hard and fast, though was still working on how he'd do this. His hand twitched, just to remind him the key made him weaker then usual and this fight more difficult. And Yuki didn't look like the combative type either. Was Zanths reply to the situation, the hunter shuddering at her gentle touch to his cheek, making uncomfortable noises in his throat.

It felt like his stomach hit the floor when the demon's claws pierced skin, impairing Jason's ability to breathe. He drew back, not moving away from them but submitting enough to let go in hopes that perhaps she would cease tightening the grip that Yuki had been trying to pry loose.
For several long moments, including the entirety of Riley's words toward the both of them, Yuki had stood frozen. He didn't know what to do. He didn't know how to help, now that Jason was actually in Riley's grasp. He was silent, his expression mirroring the inner horror and a terrible anticipation of what he was going to be forced to witness.
Hands at his sides, the ghost tried to make no visible effort that he was focusing his Fear. Unfortunately, the way the air started to chill in an unnatural way would likely let it be felt.

This was her reward. She'd caught her prey, and instilled the fear of her deep within their hearts, and yet when she held them captured, facing one another and certain demise, they fell silent and gave her nothing. They gave her nothing. She felt the chill, but mistook it as a cold reminder of how little satisfaction she received from this, and suddenly the tentacles fell away. The nails slid out of Jason's skin, and the fingers released his clutched throat. She waited just a moment, before shoving Jason forcefully against Yuki. It was perhaps, the only moment where they stood a chance at getting away. A moment where Riley could not decide whether this was what she wanted, anymore. Get out. She grumbled, looking at the blood tipping her nails with a crazed, unhinged look. If they did not listen, all they would receive was another, more forceful scream inside of their minds. GET OUT.

Jason could feel the air getting colder, though not knowing who was behind this made him quite nervous, believing Riley was about to do something. Blood trickled down his neck from the thin scratches, way to close for him to be comfortable. Yet he didn't scream, either to frightened to do so, too worried for Yuki, or just using all his self control. And then, out of all things, he was let go. He took a deep breath once the claws relaxed, so so happy to be able to do so, then was pushed away. He almost asked what was going on, but again clamped his mouth shut. He wasn't about to question what the hell was going on. He spun, grasping Yuki's arm, his long legs making quick strikes away from the mind flayer, intending to grab his civilian on the way and get the heck out of there. Thats if Riley didn't just come after them.

Yuki couldn't have anticipated that Riley would let go of Jason, and the ghost actually yelped in surprise when the man was shoved into him. The focus gone, the Fear he'd been gathering fizzled out of existence before he had actually put it to use. He was glad he didn't have to. Or, at least it seemed he wouldn't have to.
Riley had let him go to play a game of cat and mouse before. Even with her shouting at them, Yuki wasn't sure that they were truly able to trust their freedom given. Regardless, he moved with the tug against his arm and pulled away only to go after his own human.
"You run out of here and don't look back," Yuki instructed the Hunter, casting a worried glance toward the mindflayer as he gathered Hitsu up in his arms. He wasn't going to maneuver her onto his back this time; he felt like it might doom the girl into being a potential shield. "I'll be right behind you."
And he would. That much was not a lie. Only, he had no plans to mention that he would intentionally keep distance between them. If Riley decided that this was a game, Yuki would ensure that Jason wasn't the one she reached first.
That wasn't to say that Yuki wasn't plenty afraid to look back once he stated running, too.
At least the Hunter would be safe. Jason didn't have to go back, knowing that she could still reach him.
