Snowball was standing there his eyes on her as she was looking playfully one minute and the next she was staring into space . . . concern touched his features as he watched her. The fact she was crying now his ears twitched, it was much like Niflhel, but instead of chasing whatever it was. . . . she was standing there.
"Princess?" He ventured, as he tucked the locket into his pocket. She moved away from the mirror sitting down, his head tilted at her. " . . . what happened? Why are you crying?" He asked clearly unaware of anything that was going on, just watching her go from happy to sadness as if she'd seen some ghost . . .
He couldn't help but wonder; why was he always the one left in the dark?

Lost in emotion and thought she'd almost forgotten he was there with her. And when his voice sounded her eyes snapped upwards her look almost... harsh for a few seconds before it softened. Though he looked almost the same Snowball wasn't the same one she had just seen.. Even if the tone he'd used for a few minutes ago sounded eeirely similar to the tone the cat from her memory was using....
"Ah it was... there's a memory attached to this.." Her fingers brushed the pin once more. "The memory of how I got this is really sad."
Her shoulders sank with a sigh, unable to press the images from her mind.
"You don't ever have any memories from the past.. do you?" At times like this that might have been a blessing. She doubted he'd see it that way though.
Patting her hand against the bed she attempted to beckon him over.

Snowball stepped back when she looked up at him. The look his ears flatted, it was like he'd done something wrong. His brows knitted, "Uh...." He shifted uneasily as she spoke, and mentioned the memory was sad.
He shook his head slowly, "Well... no, is that why you and Niflhel go kinda funny all of a sudden?" He asked, he wasn't sure he wanted to sit. Not after how she'd looked at him. To him that was as close to a dagger in the back one could get.
Though he moved closer leaning slightly on the bed column. "W-what did you see?" Really he wasn't even sure he wanted to know.

Go funny. It was an odd and fairly appropriate description of what happened when some of the stronger or more jarring visions occurred.
His discomfort was obvious, so while her hand still rested upon the spot beside her, silently offering it if he changed his mind, she didn't press any. Her eyes traveled across the room to a large window as she answered his question. "Sometimes when we visit our homeworlds we'll have visions. Sometimes it's just like.. rooms will appear like they did in the past and then all of the sudden you'll blink it's your back here.. with all this decay."
"But other times it's much more obtrusive."
"Like a movie playing out in front of your eyes. I imagine we probably look pretty funny when we're watching them. Especially the more emotional ones."
Eyes returning to him she paused at his question, debating whether to answer. Or exactly how much detail to give. Taking a deep breath she sighed. "I was watching how me and Niflhel broke things off in the past..."

Snowball's nose wrinkled he looked at her, he'd been following Niflhel last time they visited his wonder. Just him and the knight, was this the same thing? Niflhel had never said anything about that, but Snowball was slowly starting to feel like. . . "So that's what that Cerberus' item is . . . your crystal that's why he has it. . . ."
Snowball was stringing together why Niflhel was crying, but . . . his ears twitched still down near his skull. He paused, looking at her as she trailed off speaking of how they broke up, "And . . . that would be?" He asked softly.
Though he couldn't see the past there was a feeling in the pit of his stomach. Just from the way she looked at him, the harsh image of her face; could it have been betrayal? He closed his eyes as he stood there, "Let me guess, I had something to do with it?"

Cerberus? For a moment she was confused what Niflhel's summon had to do with anything, thinking back to try and recall the mystical beast. But after a moment she nodded mildly, curious of how Snowball had that bit of information himself. "When he gave me this pin I gave him one of my crystals, so that would make sense I guess."
Of course that was the question he had to ask. She sighed again uncomfortably before looking up to him, his ears lowered, eyes closed. There was no way he'd take it well, but not answering at all was just as bad.
"You were just doing your job Snowball.... trying to protect me." The realization had only take Polaris moments now, though in the past it had taken far longer for the senshi of the past to forgive him. To realize he hadn't hurt them on purpose and that he'd been right all along.
"It could have been much worse for both of us if you hadn't advised us to do the right thing."

His ears twitched as she spoke, Snowball wasn't sure but the Cerberus must not have been there to start with. He'd have to figure that part out later. However his face twitched as she answered him.
She was trying to soothe him, but the images of how hurt she looked just moments before still haunted him. Instead of sitting beside her, he moved away from the bed and slowly took off the cloak he was wearing, moving to hang it back up. "No wonder you looked at me that way . . . " He muttered softly as he left the room.
Granted the closest wasn't the best place to hide or so he'd thought until he started to burrow deeper into the closet. Maybe he'd find Narnia if he looked far enough into the back of the closet. He didn't want her to hate him, however, he wouldn't blame her if she did. He knew how much she loved Niflhel now and in the past, there was no way for him to tell. . .
It didn't really matter if it was the best thing for them. He sniffled slightly as he thought stopping when his hand reached the back of the closet to find a door, somewhere he hadn't even really paid attention to where he was headed. It seemed to be a sort of secret passage. He shoved it open and walked through pushing the door, not all the way too but far enough that any light from her room was barely piercing the darkness. . .
His hand went to his pocket with the trinket, as he walked, his eyes adjusting slowly. Looking at the room decorated in lush purples and hints of green there was a picture of him and Polaris on a desk, and a large bed that almost mirrored hers in style. He moved to lay the picture down before sitting on the bed, "Yeah . . . I wouldn't blame you if you hated me. . . " He whispered softly as he turned the trinket over in his hand. "I . . . I'd probably hate me too."

"Snowball..." She called after him, but he wasn't listening. And could she blame him? Her knee jerk reaction hadn't been kind, even if she had tried to make up for it afterwards.
As he disappeared into the closet Polaris stood, leaving the cloak and pin on the bed behind her. Maybe she shouldn't have been following after him.. perhaps he'd feel trapped with her pinning him into the closet with words he didn't want to hear, but she couldn't help herself. He seemed so sad. For something that wasn't his fault. Not now, nor in the past.
"Snowball." She tried again as she entered the closet, startled to find an empty closet. But as she neared the door at the other end of the closet she suddenly realized where she was, where she was walking to, even despite the darkness.
She couldn't hear his whispers, taking only a few tentative steps into the darkened room as she tried to allow for her eyes to adjust. "I'm so sorry Snowball. I didn't mean to upset you."

Snowball sat still not moving as he sat there, he wiped at his eyes with the back of sleeve, not saying anything as she spoke. He just sat there looking up at her sadly, his eyes probably betrayed him as to his location in the room.
He could see her clearly the benefits of being cat, but he sighed and frowned softly as his eyes wondered around the room. "You can hate me, it's okay. . . " He finally said, voice a little broken as he spoke.
It was obvious he'd hurt her, and well. . . even if he was the guardian and suppose to make the hard choices, sometimes that didn't make the guilt or pain any easier. Not to mention the rifts something that could cause between them, some great horrible secret even he couldn't remember. He wasn't sure what to do, what to feel . . . if she could see this and he couldn't? Why was it some great and horrible secret to him when her and Niflhel could see things clear as day. Both of them must've hated him, no they probably both secretly hated him for this and just were too nice to tell him. His tail curled around his-self protectively as he tried not to drown in his thoughts.

"I don't hate you." She responded immediately, sincerely, to his words, hazarding a few steps closer. Between the slow adjustment of her eyes and the soft reflection of his own, Polaris knew where he was. What she didn't know was whether he'd appreciate her actually coming to him. So for the moment she lingered cautiously.
"When it first happened.. the me back then.. she was angry of course. But she figured out quickly enough that it wasn't you she was mad at. It was our responsibilities and the ways of ours worlds that made it happen. It was literally treason Snowball. We could have been killed or imprisoned."
"And I have nothing to be mad about now either. Of all the people in the world to meet.. to fall in love with. We found each other again. Everything is good now and we can be together again. Niflhel and I. And you and I. And now that I know... I'll never take it for granted either."
Sighing softly her hand reached out towards him in the darkness. "Will you let me tell you about some of the nice memories sometime? It's not the same as seeing it yourself but... I'd like to share some of our happy memories." And make new ones.

His ears twitched as she spoke, he was still as his fingers ran over the locket. How could she say she didn't hate him after that look though? "Still . . . that look . . ." He said softly.
He swallowed and shook his head he heard the words she was saying but nothing really seemed to resonate inside of his head to pull his attention back to anything but the look she gave him when she looked at him after those few moments . . .
She was talking about nice memories and happy ones, he shifted slightly. "I - I don't know . . ." He finally murmured out. "I . . guess, I couldn't stop you . . ." He added.

Why did she always have to be so emotional? Why couldn't she be a little more stoic like Niflhel at times like these? The look had been instinctive, subconcious, but that hardly mattered. All the mattered was how upset Snowball was about it. In the dark dimness of the room Polaris arms wrapped around herself as her teeth lightly bit at her bottom lip.
He didn't seem very excited about her offer, but in the end she decided to go with it anyway. Even if only to make herself feel a little better, because she had no idea how to undo what she had done. If it was even possible.
"Well..." She started thoughtfully, closing her eyes so that she could 'see' the room more clearly. Snowball's room.
"This is your room. One that was made especially for you and given to you the day you first arrived. But I remember... how you used to spend much more time in my room with me. Even though you didn't have to..."
"I remember how when I was upset about something.. or sick you would sneak into my room and curl up and sleep with me instead. Or sometimes even just when we had a particularly aggravating or ridiculous day we'd lay around on my bed and just talk for hours."
Shifting in her position her arms unfolded, and thoughtfully twirling hair around one of her fingers. "It was a lot different back then. I really was treated like a princess back then. So many duties and responsibilities. And so few friends or like actually being able to run around and just be a teenager. You were my very best friend back then. Letting me rant and rave. Trying to keep me out of trouble or cleaning up the mess when I got into it anyway."
She'd begun to smile without noticing it. "We used to collect things back then. Everytime we had to visit a new wonder or homeworld for ceremonies or missions or whatever. We'd always try and hunt out the markets so that we could find the perfect souviner to bring back. Sometimes it wasn't even stuff we bought we'd just.. hunt out the most perfect flower or whatever."
"I bet all that stuff must be around here somewhere."

Snowball sighed and listened half heartily until she started talking about things they collected and how he was her best friend. His ears twitched a little and turned away from her as he pulled out a little lighter.
He'd seen a candle by his bedside and lit it, allowing some light into the room. The darkness melting away a bit, as he looked around, "It's probably shoved in some closet if there's not a whole vault dedicated to it. . . "
He stopped, "At least that's where my stash is back home, in a closet. . . " He didn't seem completely back to himself but at least he was talking to her. He wrinkled his nose, "How does this work? It looks like it opens."
Snowball was trying to distract himself but he couldn't figure out how the trinket opened. And he was a mauvian! He could open anything but this . . . .

The sudden light in the dark startled her and she blinked before looking around. Hidden away in her closet his room seemed mostly untouched other than by time.
"A closet makes sense.." She thought aloud. "Especially if yours are as big as mine are." Polaris wasn't nearly as interested in the collection right now, but she was happy that he seemed at least somewhat interested.
Stepping closer tentatively she reached her hand out light, letting her fingers brush against the locket.
"Oh... I had a locket like that when I was little. They can be a little tricky. Usually there is just a tiny little indent of place that you need to slip a nail into."

Snowball's ears twitched lightly as she spoke and nodded, "Perhaps that should be investigated later and if they're not we should find where they've been hidden. . . . "
He wrinkled his nose as he looked trying to figure out where the thing was, the hinges were obvious but the little indent she was talking about escaped him as he looked trying to slide a nail into the thing and frowning a little, "I . . . don't want to break it. It feels like it's got some sort of magic to it. . . I'm trying to figure out what. . . "
