It was Aten's turn to talk. He wanted to be skipped over. His first plant for the public garden project had been a complete failure, and with all the stresses he was going through at the time his plant had completely died. It shriveled up and turned a mucky brown, decaying in too much sunlight when it wasn't even supposed to be exposed to the sun. He had scrambled to try and get a new plant from his teacher, to try and make up for lost time -- but of course, plants could not be rushed, and so his new plant had lived, but was rather tiny and small once planted with his classmate's projects. Aten was still gathering his words when it was his turn to speak. How he presented his project could make the difference between passing and totally bombing. Maybe he could buy himself some more time ... "I'm still steeling my nerves," Aten lied, tail curling around his feet like it always did when he told a lie. "May I instead go after the next person for a little more time to calm myself?" Aten was allowed.

Aten breathed deep. He had dawdled long enough, and rose to his feet, carrying up a board filled with pictures throughout the entire process of his endeavor. From the first plant's disastrous experience to his second plant green and bright, despite how small as it was. He didn't want to bring his plant with him -- he wanted to leave it where people could view it, and so instead had documented the entire process -- his failures, his small victories. And even though he had failed miserably the first time, he was still proud of himself for trying again. The tiger imp posted his colourful board at the front of the class, then turned to speak to his peers with the same cool confidence he always presented. "We are often told from a young age the phrase, 'If at first you don't succeed, try, try again'." He started, taking a step closer to his peers, very much in to the presentation, his body language open as he addressed everyone. "As a child, I never heeded that much. But in this particular case, this golden kernel of knowledge may be the only reason why I even succeeded in the first place."Aten stepped to the side, gesturing to one of the images of the sad, flopped over, decaying vine. "This was my first attempt. I failed to take care of it, and did all the wrong things, and the plant suffered. My biggest challenge wasn't the plant itself, but me. I was struggling to balance my personal life with my school work when we were first assigned this project, and it showed through in my work." Aten moved to the other side where he then gestured to the second plant, a small pink flower budding from its luscious green leaves. "But I told myself I had to make the conscious effort to succeed. I need to try, try again until I got it right. With time running out, I honestly didn't know if I would succeed. But somehow, I found my balance and my companion here began to grow and flourish under my care. Once I was happier and healthier, my plant because happier and healthier. Once I made the choice to be more positive, to be content with where I was we both began to thrive."The imp stepped to the front of the class, clasping his clawed hands together. "I learned a lot from this project -- a lot from this class. It's amazing the things you can learn, not only about yourself, but about life in general if only you are receptive to the lessons offered to you." Aten gave a small bow. "Thank you, my friends, for you time, patience, and attention. That concludes my presentation."

Joseth walked up to the front of the class, his little prepared presentation ready to be presented to the class. He stood up straight and recited it in his low, steady voice. "I enjoyed the atmosphere and all of the colors and scents of the flora in the garden. I plan on visiting it more often, now that I had a part in creating that little green corner. The one thing that gave me a bit of trouble was that I had to be careful with the mister, I got a little spray-happy and might have watered them a tad too much." He gave the class a sheepish smile before returning to his seat, listening politely to the other presentations.

Shaxio was never very good at speaking in front of big groups... This was no exception. When it was his turn to speak, he froze up so much Corben ended up having to select someone else to go in front of him. How embarrassing...

Thankfully by the time the other student was done with their presentation, he'd settled his nerves enough to stand up and go to the front of the room. He then shared his findings on the community garden, as well as what was difficult for him. That primarily being relying on others to take care of something for him.... He didn't really divulge his trust issues with that, but a simple statement that it was difficult to give up full control sufficed and earned an empathetic nod from Corben.
Once he was done, he returned to his seat to finish calming down...

Ruddi stood there somewhat nervous about talking about the garden that she had put some time into. She was really happy to see the flowers grow nicely and to be able to paint them in her spare time really made her happy. On second thought she felt a little excited to talk about it.
"I kind of enjoyed helping with the garden. I don't have much of a green thumb, but I managed to grow a few flowers. It was highly unexpected of me when they finally bloomed. In my excitement I painted them in my free time." She holds up her two of her small canvases showing off the flowers that she grew.

Evil. Short and to the point that’s what a community presentation was. She knew it and she was certain everyone else in that class knew it as well. Still just like everyone else she had to stifle her groan of dismay and get ready for her turn to come along. “While not my favorite project it was definitely educational to learn about the care of plants in a larger scale than just a take home room plant. Not only that but actually being able to go and get fresh frood from a garden that so much work was put in is a bit rewarding.” She managed a smile but had to brush her hair out of her face to properly see everyone and make eye contact for the presentation. She continued to drone on absentmindedly until her time was up and she sat down hoping it was good enough.

Sprout didn't mind talking in front of people. It was basically their dream job! The Fallen fluttered up front, already proud of themselves. Fake it till you make it, right? "My plant grew really good for the first half," the green-winged Nightmare explained proudly, but then they got a thoughtful expression. "I never got it to flower, but I made sure it was on the windowsill and that it got enough water. I think that counts for something!" Sprout made a popping sound with their mouth. "So yeah, pretty easy. I'd grow plants again for an assignment any day. Kind of wish mine flowered though."

As much as Malachi loved this class and adored Mr. Corben, he couldn't help feeling a sense of dread wash over him as he had to make a presentation in class today. True, he was beginning to do much better in front and around others, but speech type assignments were all sorts of horrible. After his classmate took their turn, Malachi stood, wings pinned tightly against his back in a self-comforting way -- like a tight hug. "Uhmmm... I actually enjoyed the project a lot. My plant has a little bud right now, and getting close to blooming. I actually have a good few other plants I was growing along side of it to see how they compared as they grew. It was a surprisingly fast little sprout." That was about all he could muster before taking his seat again. He survived!... not that it didn't stop him from feeling like he was going to pass out!

Kara was having a hard time figuring out what electives she should take. In the end she had decided that perhaps botany would be one of her best alternatives since she preferred sciences over art. She slipped into her chair and listened to the teacher speak. When it was her turn, she stood up and swallowed slightly, "I found that taking care of the plant was relatively easy, all you had to do was make sure it was getting adequate sunshine and watered every day. The only thing hard, per se, was making sure my familiars didn't chew on it." She gave a small smile at her own tease. "But it grew up just fine and in time it even gave me a couple of beautiful blooms."

Odessa stood up, slightly nervous as she began to speak, "Well... I can't say my plant went as well as Kara's did.. At first it did pretty well, it even grew a lot of leaves, but it began to turn colors and I had to clip off some of them to get it grow healthier. It survived, but it never did bloom or get as large as hers.." Her voice partially trailed off. She hoped she did okay enough to pass, despite her problems with her plant.

Mytrax was already drafting a speech in her head as her classmates got up to talk. She half-listened to what they were saying (because it would be rude otherwise) and jotted down some mental notes. When her turn came, she brushed off imaginary lint and smoothed out imaginary wrinkles from her clothes. "The biggest difficulty I experienced was in coordination of the plants. Balancing the aesthetic aspect versus the required logistics for future growth and current size. Luckily I was only asked to give suggestions, and instead focused on the actual maintenance." Here she gave the class a professional smile that didn't quite reach her eyes, "Tending to the plants was easier, not exactly easy given the communal nature of the project. I am grateful for the schedule that was set, this way I knew which plants had already been handled for the day."Without another word, Mytrax gave the floor to the next student.

Rose absolutely adored this class. Some of her favorite afternoons were spent in the community garden, "I loved helping out in the community garden! It helps that I have a green thumb and a flower growing out of me, but I felt very close with all of the plants in out little green corner. The thing that was most difficult for me was leaving the precious little sprouts when it was time to leave! I'll be back many times to visit our little chlorophyll babies."
