BlacksandBlues You know what I hate about being the older one though? My parents will inevitably make mistakes with me and my childhood as I am their first child, and after they've learnt from those mistakes, they won't do the same again for their younger child, in other words, my brother. That's one of the unfairest things about being older. Even though, yes, because you're your parents first child, they will dote on you and love you so, so much, as you are their... first one.
And parents don't love the first one more, they like the second more, or they like them 'equally'. rolleyes Yeah right.

I know, I think that too, but... if you think about it, how would you treat the first ever child you'd given birth to at the time? Like a god. That's what I mean by that they love the first child more. I don't mean they actually love them more than the second child. But the first child is lavished with care when they are first born. They don't have any siblings to contend with for attention either.

When I was his age I was really quite smart but my bro isn't, so now he's doing all this Kumon maths and english crap to mould him into a smarter kid. What else... actually I don't think there has been that much of a difference, oh wait - he does get more attention from my parents these days because they realise how I turned out, so they don't want to make the same mistake haha. And us older siblings are definitely the guinea pigs, no matter how you look at it. sweatdrop The younger ones probably get it slightly easier as they have the older sibling to 'guide' them through life... whereas all I had was my dumbass parents, the equivalent to talking to a brick. stare

The same was true with my brother and I, up until I was like 14 I think, because I'd always been very immature and played with him. But then I started to change so the relationship suffered. My situation is like Toki's in every way, except that the difference in ages between me and my little brother is even more extreme. I'm 18 and a half, whilst he's only 9, it's nearly a 10 year difference. Both of us were born in very different circumstances. I was a child of the 'One-child generation' in China, whereas he was a millenium baby in Australia.
As of such, I still retain a lot of Chinese heritage whereas my brother's almost totally Aussie-fied.
But unlike Toki my brother and I are still very close friends. In fact, I'm closer to him than to my parents. The huge difference between our ages and knowledge meant I always had to act as a second parent to him, and teach him things that mum could never do. True, when I was about 11-15 I still acted like a big kid and abused my brother around a lot, but in the last few years I've taught him a lot of cool, if naughty skills!! xd xd
He's learned how to play computer games and use the internet in a much faster time I took, he's learned almost as many swear words as I have, and what's more, he's actually a fair bit more intelligent in maths than I was. And even though we still play competitive games with each other with me winning easily every time, I always give him a fighting chance. The only thing that I'd still be better than him if we were the same age is our literary knowledge; I've read almost all the classical and modern writers whereas he's just read Harry Potter. xd
