Zeke watched the other man for a long moment as another piece was removed, waiting for him to say more, and when he didn't auburn brows twitched upward, curious.

"And your conclusion?" He still didn't sound happy, but he didn't sound hostile either. Certainly not with the man across from him, he hadn't done anything wrong. Well, probably hadn't. Didn't seem like Kyle was willing to tempt fate enough to doodle on him.

Still watching, Zeke made a grab for a piece, only for the tower to fall.

He sighed, then slumped forward without so much as a word.

"And your conclusion?"

Kyle had been about to answer Zeke, his form straightening in his chair, an intake of breath through his nose as his gaze lifted to focus on the... sleeping Mist Intermediate. Someone was going to be even more unhappy when he came to as soon as the effect of the dart wore off.

Reaching over to pluck the dart off the back of Zeke's neck with a soft chuckle, Kyle spent the next minute or so taking a good look at it then at the room, trying to figure out where the dart came from and if there was any way for them to avoid it short of wearing a suit of armour. Hmm. Deciding that it was almost time for Zeke to wake up, the Sun placed the dart on the side of the table, moving quickly to reassemble the pieces before helping himself to one of them.

<******** on of a b***h.

He was indeed in a foul mood when he lifted his head to stare blearily across the table at the other trainee, the little tower. A groan escaped his lips as he lifted his hands to rub his palms across his eyes and down his cheeks, elbows dropping onto the table a moment after.

"I ******** hate this course." ******** jenga. ******** Life division. ******** bandages.

If they weren't so damned important...

Still grumbling under his breath, he reached out and deftly snagged a piece from the tower.

Someone was pissing mad and Kyle knew who. He watched Zeke quietly, taking in the initial bleariness that was quickly replaced by intense irateness at the realisation of what had happened. "I hear you. Just... hang in there. A few more rounds and we're done." He offered matter of factly, nodding a few times as he stretched a hand out to remove a piece from the tower.

The both of them knew why they were here, seated at this table and playing a couple of rounds of Jenga when they would rather be somewhere doing something else entirely. They would thank themselves for this - mustering the patience of all the saints in the world to persevere until they eventually succeeded - each and every time either of them reached for those bandages that they would soon earn the right to when they were out there on the field.

This had all started out so promising. Where had it all gone wrong?

He didn't bother responding to Kyle's attempts at comforting him, because really, all he had managed to do was annoy the Mist further, and this was entirely not his fault. Holding his tongue was far better than simply snapping at him to be quiet.

So instead he just offered a small grunt as he reached out and took another careful piece from the tower, adding it to his own pile.

If Kyle looked long and hard enough, he might be able to see the smoke coming out of Zeke's ears and nose as the Mist hunter quietly fumed and glared daggers at the innocuous looking wooden tower that was an integral part of the training course challenge.

Taking the cue from the intermediate hunter, the Sun held his tongue as well. This was a delicate situation now that both hunters had come this far. If he was keeping count right, he only had just one more puzzle piece to go till those runic bandages were finally his.

With a look of intense concentration crossing his features, he peered at the tower this way and that when it was his turn.

This was it.

Barely managing to suppress the fine trembling that was in his hand, he very gently slid one end of the wooden block out before grasping it between his thumb and index finger to remove it entirely.

Still fuming, Zeke was quick to grab another piece from the tower.

It was only after he'd done so that he noticed Kyle was no longer talking, and it didn't take a whole lot of thought to know why. He'd soured the mood. Drawing in a long breath through his nose, he let it out slowly, forcing the tension out of his shoulders.

They were almost finished, one way or another.

It wasn't Zeke's fault really. Nor Kyle's for the matter. If anyone was to blame, it would be the bloke who designed the Life training course and made every hunter who wanted access to the all important runic bandages sit through AND pass it. For sitting down to concentrate on a game of Jenga for so long was bound to do weird things to your brain. Or maybe, just maybe, that was the real intent of this training course all along.

Kyle mused quietly to himself, tossing the wooden block aside as he leaned back in his seat and folded his arms across his chest to watch Zeke. He supposed that he could go on if he really wanted to but he didn't have any desire to do that now that he was done. That plus he really really didn't want to risk going into another drug induced sleep.

The temporary quiet was appreciated, whatever the cause behind it. A single upward glance towards Kyle, lips twitching just a hint, then Zeke's concentration was falling to the tower.

Just one more piece.

He reached out, breath held, and very gingerly nudged a piec free from the middle. Exhaling only after it had fallen to the table. "Christ," he swore in relief, picking the damn thing up. "The stupidest test for bandages. Not like they aren't aware I have steady hands already." Unceremoniously, he tossed the piece in the surrounding water.

It was like watching the final of a chess grandmaster's matchup. When all eyes were focused intently on the move that was being executed with abated breath until the outcome was finally clear and one emerged victorious.

"Congratulations on making it."

Kyle stood from his seat with a smile. Zeke had really been cutting it a little too close back there. Just one wrong move and it would mean the Mist getting the last sleeping dart that he was allowed to and then having to start over again. Boy was he so glad that the both of them actually managed to make it without having to go there.

"I agree. I still don't see how this training activity is entirely relevant. What say you to stopping by the infirmary to grab a cup of coffee, or do you need to be somewhere else?"

"Yeah, that's fine." A cup of coffee didn't sound too bad, honestly, and he thought maybe he owed the other man for subjecting him to his awful mood through out the latter half of the this sorry excuse for training.

So, completely ignoring the barely balanced tower and small piles of pieces on either side of the table, Zeke lead the way out of the Life course and back along the familiar path to the infirmary.

Truth be told, Kyle didn't give very much thought to Zeke's earlier mood nor was he about to hold anything against the Mist for it either. God knew how terrible he was in the morning until he got some coffee into his system so who was he to chastise Zeke's earlier behaviour after being subjected to the drug-induced sleep caused by the dart each time they accidentally toppled the wooden tower puzzle?

"Let's go then."

He dipped his head slightly at Zeke's words then trailed behind the other hunter towards the infirmary to reward himself with a cup of decent coffee.
