He kept up the pace, drinking in the laughter, slowing down when the music called for it and picking it up when the tempo rose. Otto had fallen completely out of his shell now, his smile bright, his feet quick, hips swaying in time to the music.
Chance didn't know how long they kept going, because he'd lost track of the time. All he knew was that Otto was with him and that they were dancing together, lost in the throes of the music, hands on hips, or fingers tangled together, feet sliding, music in their ears, laughter in their throats. Every once in a while Chance would spin around behind Otto when it slowed, hold him close and let themselves sway together.
When the music was swelling louder and more exciting, and Chance was flushed and dizzy with happiness, he grabbed Otto by the waist and pulled him forward, breaking their dance to swing Otto into a dip. Then, breathless with laughter and high on his adoration for Otto, Chance kissed him soundly, utterly, only letting up when he could no longer breathe.

This couldn't be real. He'd never imagine letting his shell off on holiday for even a minute in the past. But steadily it got so easy to do with Chance. The much taller man playfully pulled him into a dip, and Otto laughed rather than got huffy or embarrassed. Because damn it, it was cute, it was funny and it was fun. His laugh bubbled into a simmer, his smile fading enough only so he could fully immerse himself in that happy and heart fluttering kiss. His arms looped around Chance's neck, and he actually found he almost laughed into the kiss, because the energy from the day was stuck to him like glitter.

Chance straightened with Otto still in his arms, stumbling a little as he looped them more fully around his boyfriend, the two of them staggering around in their embrace. He grinned, Chance nuzzling Otto's face affectionately, and then he'd gathered him up again against his chest and kissed him again, and again, spinning around in a circle. The enthusiasm bubbled over into everything, happiness filling his veins like fire.
The music was still playing, but Chance had slowed his steps to something less energetic, keeping his arms around Otto's waist, sliding into what could have passed for a slow dance. He swayed, eyes half lidded, and met Otto's gaze, tucking their foreheads together. His affections were whispered out, the adoring words pressed against Otto's lips for only him to hear, for only him to feel, to taste, to hold. The wind rustled their hair, flooding the little room with a salty breeze that carried the scent of the ocean with it.
It was, quiet possibly, one of the best afternoons that Chance had ever had, especially on duty in such a seemingly dull place.
After some time, utterly out of breath, Chance finally seemed to be losing steam, his chest heaving, a bright, unbreakable smile on his flushed face.
"So," he said, looking down at Otto. "Still don't like dancing?"

This was silly. Very un-serious. Many other things that Otto always insisted he was not. However, while he certainly wouldn't dare make moves like this on a floor where people could see him, here with Chance he found maybe he could allow a little more silly into his repertoire. It wasn't as if he'd never done silly things with friends, anyway. Things like office chair jousting, and pulling pranks on a certain coffee loving co-worker, or drawing terrible cartoons of people to make fun of them. Okay two of those three things were more mean spirited, one supposed. After the spinning and kissing and rapid movements fell into something slower, Otto found he could finally catch his breath and ease down to a level more his style. His smile softened, taking in the whispered affections that made his stomach flutter. He of course murmured stubborn retorts that held zero impact; his tone too pleased to intend otherwise. He stole soft, and sweet kisses as they were mere millimetres apart. His fingers idly playing with his hair, or running his hands over his shoulders. "Maybe not so much as I thought I did." He murmured back, softly slowing his own movements as well. It had been exhausting. Without the Ocean breeze, they'd have melted in the summer heat. The ocean made the tropical weather bearable.

The stubborn retorts were taken with a grain of salt, because Otto kept smiling, and they didn't quite match up to the look of happiness in his eyes, nor the soft, sweet, stolen kisses Otto kept giving him. Chance kept one arm looped securely around Otto's waist, his other hand running up and down his back, delving into his hair, and then back down again.
He was extremely satisfied - tired, yes, and a little dizzy with the warmth and the euphoria, but very satisfied. Chance smoothed back some of Otto's hair from his face and kissed his brow, then his temple, then his lips again, tilting Otto back a little, but not too much before leaning back.
"Good," Chance said, and smiled, pulling him into an embrace, still swaying from side to side, his face against Otto's. "I like dancing, even if it's not that often. And I very much like dancing with you," he added in a murmur, kissing Otto's cheek affectionately before drawing back and exhaling a tired breath.
"Thanks for giving in to my selfish whims."

And that was just it. Chance loved dancing, and to deny the man something he loved just because Otto was uncertain about it would be cruel. They were in a relationship, after all. Give and take was involved. And as evidenced today, sometimes Otto surprised himself. "No problem.. I actually had fun. So thanks for pushin' me into it."

Chance smiled down at Otto, sliding his hands down Otto's arms and twining their fingers together. Otto had taken a step forward for him this time, and Chance would take one when Otto needed or wanted; a push and pull, give and take relationship defined by a balance between them.
"I'm glad," he said, and squeezed Otto's hands. Chance twisted his wrist a little to look at his watch, the numbers glowing a soft blue.
"Well," he said lightly, a smile on his still-flushed face. "Since our shift ends soon, and there will still be a bit of time before it's time to sleep...feel up to spending a bit more time with me, or did you want some time to yourself?"

Otto shook his head. "I'm good with spendin' more time with you." Chance always gave him the option, the way out should he feel he needed his space. Otto was thankful for the opportunity every time, even if he didn't feel inclined to take it. He gave his hands a squeeze back, swinging them lightly. He didn't feel he needed to balance out his so called Masculinity after being sappy and dancey with Chance, today. He was fine with this. He'd save push-ups and laps around Deus for some other mental moment of emasculated inferiority; it had no place with him today.

He was not suffocating in his attention or affections; or at least, he hoped he wasn't. It was easy to let Otto make the decisions, to allow him the space he needed, or the space Chance needed, a simple factor in their relationship that had become a building block of it.
A smile touched Chance's lips, curving them upwards. "I'm glad to hear," he said, and swayed a little unconsciously from side to side, a hum escaping him. "I was thinking we could maybe go out on a date. Or just have dinner together, even if it's just on the island in the cafeteria."

Otto nodded. "That'd be nice. Anywhere's fine. I ain't got much in my fridge, though." So it was limited to outside of his own apartment, unless they wanted a dinner of hotdogs and hot pockets for two.

He thought for a moment, mulling over ideas.
"So, back to you," said Chance, eyes twinkling. "Three choices, your decision. I can either get supplies and make you dinner myself, like I promised to do one day. Or, we can just get cafeteria food and relax there. Or we can go off island."
His eyebrows rose. "Any particular preference?"

"Off island. I want some restaurant food." Otto complied, only because he was hesitant to allow other to cook for him again. "It wouldn't feel like a date if you were slavin' away over a stove."

He gave a little laugh. "I wouldn't mind slaving away, but off-island it is. It's a new month, and I haven't used any of my time off days yet, so we can go wherever. I'll have to do a bit of searching to find a good place."
Chance's fingers idly stroked over Otto's.
"Got any preference for what kind of food you want?"

That was right. A new month. Otto had four days off he could spend outside of Deus. Not all at once, of course. But still. "No." He murmured, his whole persona softening at the prospect of simply being away with Chance somewhere. "Bar food is always best, though. But wherever you wanna go." Chance always had a way of wording things so Otto would be forced to make his own decisions, however subtly. Made him decide if they spent time together, where they went, what they had. "Did you wanna spend the night somewhere? Or come back here after?"

It was almost second nature now, the wording; Chance had slipped into it easily at the beginning, when Otto had been more lost and uncertain of himself, needing a small push to make decisions for himself, and not just get dragged along at someone else's pace. But now it had become a habit, one that Chance maintained without much thought behind it. He still wanted to keep Otto remembering that he was very capable of making choices on his own, following his heart.
Bar food was a good choice. Chance gave a slow nod, his mind already working to figure out a destination, eyes flickering. He swung Otto's hands idly and then glanced down at him, tilting his head in mild surprise at the question; one that he had not even thought about, but now...
"I think it'd be nice to spend the night somewhere else," said Chance, smiling down at his boyfriend. "We don't have to, but if you're up for it, we could make it into a real, official, off-island date, overnight stay and all."
