"hmmm," well that was boring to say the least. But he didn't miss that Conrad seemed to light up for a second when the books were mentioned. "very well," he stood and put his empty glass down, "my servants aren't accustomed to humans, you will have to tell them if you need anything. you don't need to look for them, there will always be one around. just say what you need and they will provide it. "as master of this mansion there are many things i must do, but I will set this one absolute rule. you must never go into the back garden. no matter what the circumstances. should you enter i will not be held responsible for what happens. I cannot guarantee it will be something as kind as death." he looked over the three before nodding to himself, "Conrad, i expect you in my study after your noon meal. my servants will find you and bring you to me. until then you are free to do as you wish."

Subaru walked away, heading for his study to do a little research before starting on some of the work he'd let fall behind. truly it was tedious and he hated it, but with these new humans in the house, the last thing he needed was to be visited by those who wanted his work complete.

Subaru decided to take a bit of a nap, still tired from his early waking. he only slept an hour before returning to his work, a servant delivering him another glass of his red wine. he sipped at it as he worked, huffing angrily at a particular troublesome case that he just might have to deal with in person. he hated those, they were always so...messy.

((fyi, he's in his study. not his room))

There was a knock and Subaru looked up, noticing what time it was. his lips twitched up in a smile, "enter." a servant opened the door and let Conrad in. "now that your children are taken care of, let's begin." he stood and walked around his desk so he could lean against it facing the human. "strip," he ordered, his eyes watching everything. once Conrad was naked he stepped forward and circled him, his eyes traveling up and down the man's body.

He didn't seem much different in form at least. Subaru stopped in front of Conrad and reached down to lift one hand, examining it closely. "humans are so fragile, yet you are capable of so much." two of his fingers gripped onto Conrad's pointer, "it would be so easy to break every bone in your hand, i wouldn't even have to try. and yet your people have spread across the world like a disease." he let go of the finger and moved to Conrad's wrist, carefully bending it this way and that, studying it. he moved to his elbow and his shoulder similarly before stepping away. "sit on the desk and spread your legs, tell me. have you ever had sex with anyone other than your wife?"

Subaru nodded, he hadn't expected one of Conrad's looks to be untouched at his wedding. he watched the human do as he instructed before lifting one foot and examining it. he wiggled each toe before feeling the joints of the ankle as he moved them. "No human was stupid or desperate enough to come to the manor. at least," he smirked a little, "none that were still alive. though examining a living body is far more interesting than a cadaver, though I suppose i can't take you apart as i did them." before his parents had left they would happily kill any human that got within a mile of the house and Subaru had spent his youth taking the bodies apart and experimenting with what he found.

He moved up Conrad's leg to his knee and then further, his fingers running along the other's inner thigh, "your lovers, were they all female?" he asked and his hand stopped barely an inch from where Conrad's legs met, though his eyes were focused on the spot. he was curious what his reaction was to all of this touch as well as to see what human's was like compared to those he'd seen before.

"Hmm," Subaru watched Conrad let out a breath and relax before answering. "I see, so you prefer men," he said it to himself more than Conrad as his hand traveled the last few inched to cup the human. "you are not that different," he sounded almost disappointed, "I wonder why we look so similar when the others are so different. why our two species?" He stroked and caressed as he spoke, watching Conrad's reaction, "I was always told it was because we were the go between for the two worlds and it was easier for humans to accept us if we look like them, but I wasn't so sure. maybe it is for the purposes of seduction. it's easier to lure your prey when you look the same as they." he looked into Conrad's eyes as he spoke, the red in his own flashing in the afternoon light. "I have had many bed partners, both men and women. I find both equally pleasing. Shall I make you my latest?" he asked, smiling a little, his fangs showing.

Subaru stared at Conrad, his hand stilling, "you would really go that far for your children?" he'd heard of such devotion, read about it, but this was the first time he'd witnessed it. giving your life for your children? that was easy. giving them up so they would have a better life or killing to protect them, all of this he could understand, but to be willing to allow another to completely and totally own your body and do what they wished with it? that was beyond his comprehension. he moved his hand away and stepped back. "get dressed, i will not take a partner unwillingly to my bed. you shall sleep with me, but i am no rapist."

"Bring your children to me. they need to be trained if they will be living in this house." Subaru turned away from Conrad and walked back around the desk to sit down. "it is fortunate they are young. they can learn easily is we start them now." their powers were latent and most likely wouldn't have ever come to surface unless they were threatened, but Subaru knew that exposure to magic could cause latent magic to bloom
