"I was just thinking the same thing." It was nice to be on a similar wavelength with someone, especially when the notion brought along with it a draining of any lingering trepidation on the Widow's part. "There's a big one in Durem that's in the middle of the city, but since we moved it's a little out of the way. I do know of a smaller one closer to our condo and there are plenty of parks in Gambino. And of course there are the beaches."
She wasn't sure how far Ethiriel and Henry lived from the closest beach. Zeke would have to be consulted on this matter for now it was of the utmost importance.
"I enjoy going there when the weather is nice. It can be crowded though." The overly smiley hosts of Good Morning Gaia had said that the summer was going to be a hot one, based on several dubious sounding methods including the Farmer's Almanac. If it proved to be true or not, one thing was always certain fact: the beaches would be buzzing with people. "I also like going to stores to see what's new and try things on. I guess you could call it 'window shopping' because I don't usually buy anything." Not when she could snap a few photos with her phone and recreate the top or ensemble in question at home.
--
Zeke grinned.
"Yeah they let me file all the important paperwork!" He was teasing heavily. He did his fair share of work at the Lab, especially now that he was promoted to handling all medical-related issues. He hadn't done too many check ups thus far - perhaps that was something of a blessing - but it was a unique experience to say the least. Ethiriel's was the first one that required the use of medical tools, make shift as a few of them were.
"Oh that's a given to happen! I mean, it already has. We're getting along swimmingly and we're both members of the 'Guardians with crazy a** hair' club! You'll get your membership card in the mail." He winked. "But I mean regarding Ethiriel and her condition." He held up the notepad for a moment, just to call attention to it and the notes that had been jotted down inside. "I wanted to know your feelings on the matter. Medical background aside, if she says yes, would you be okay with her undergoing the procedure? Of course there's the recovery time after the fact and given she's a Raevan and has such a unique case of cataracts, I'm not quite sure how that will affect things."
Kyou had woken up from his coma recently, but the man was in no position to be operating. He needed to focus on himself and getting back to health. Zeke had done cataract surgeries on animals before. Out of everyone labeled as 'staff' he figured he would be the one to do it, unless Henry preferred to have something set up with a Lab-unaffiliated optometrist.

”That sounds absolutely wonderful, Lady Anastacia,” Ethiriel said, giving a genial nod of her head. ”Though I’m sure anywhere with your company would be preferable. I have not been to a beach but once that I can remember. Maybe a trip there would be wonderful, as well. I look forward to it.”
They were pretty distant to any beaches, but Ethiriel recalled the shells that Cruz had collected for her birthday, as well as the brief time she had spent there amongst friends, new and old. Despite ending early due to an emergency at the hospital, the tea Frei couldn’t help but think about that time with fondness.
Ethiriel let out a gentle chuckle below her breath, but her smile was sincere. ”Unfortunately, it does not sound as if window shopping would be much of a joy for me, but I would not mind it if it was the two of us. I am sure I would love to hear you describing the things you see to me… though I will admittedly be unable to recognize what you speak of.”
Probably the most honest Ethiriel had ever been, even to herself.
”But I would enjoy it, nonetheless.”
--
Henry let out a laugh, nodding his head as his chuckles died down – admittedly, he was glad that there were other guardians with unnatural hair colors around.
The nurse was silent for a moment, in thought, but he gave Zeke a happy thumbs-up. ”I’ll be talking to her about it later, for sure. If it’s something she’d like to do, I’m behind her one hundred percent. If I can find help within the lab it would be preferable but I’m not opposed to taking her to an optometrist. In fact, it’d probably be a good idea to do, anyway, since it’s their specialty and all.”

She considered the other Frei's words, mulling over the options with a soft hum passing her lips. Ethiriel had been to the beach before once and to the parks multiple times to be sure, but until the cataracts were taken care of, the shopping idea might not be the best choice of venue. Then again, Anastacia could dress her companion up a little and maybe take a little photo shoot for later use in order to make Ethiriel the things that fit her best. When the cataracts were taken care of - if the Silver Frei went down that road - wouldn't that be a lovely surprise?
"I think we have some good ideas to start. Things to consider, I mean. Summer is nice but the weather can not be at times. We'll have to plan accordingly."
Her voice softened as she spoke and there was a peculiar thrum in her breast besides. Excitement, anticipation, how dearly Anya wanted this. And there was something else too - a fluttery sensation of joy to hear the dark-haired girl at her side wanted much the same.
"If anything, you could come over to my house. We won't have to worry about Zeke being nosy," not when Brad was around to usher the younger man out on spontaneous dates and day trips, even without her asking. "Although...I hope you don't mind a few animals hanging around."
--
Zeke gave a thumbs up with his left hand at what the nurse had to say.
"Excellent! Just let me know either way!" Zeke bounced on his heels, unable to contain his good humor, but the action did slow as he considered just how to go forward if Ethiriel said yes.
"Actually, in light of a few recent developments, maybe an optometrist might be the best way to go about it." Dr. Kyou had just woken up from his coma and was in no condition to be doing anything other than focusing on his recovery and getting back to form. No way Zeke would even think to ask with that in mind. "Dr. Kyou's in no shape to operate at this point in time and I'm the only other likely candidate. I mean, I HAVE done cataract removal before, but not on anything that didn't have four legs and a tail."
And while cataracts were cataracts be they in the eyes of human, animal, or Raevan as the case may be, a professional who went to school to handle human and human-shaped folks would be the best bet.
"But that's up to you and Eth! Like I said, just let me know."

Nodding, Ethiriel smiled for her fellow Frei. ”I agree. I am sure we will be able to figure something out.”
She listened intently to Anya’s suggestions; she wasn’t opposed to going to another house, especially with a new friend – they didn’t know each other well, but Ethiriel felt that the spider queen was trustworthy, and Zeke was kind hearted as well. There was nothing about either of them that graded against the tea Frei, and their guardians were similar as it was. Things would be fine.
”Oh, do not mind me; I love animals. It sounds like a wonderful idea.”
She needed out of the house more as it was. The plans for working on the sun room were underway and Henry intended to get it made soon, which gave the two of them something to enjoy when the weather was too warm to be outside and they could still enjoy the sun.
”I would offer you a visit to my own room, but I do not have much in ways of entertainment,” Ethiriel said, gently tapping a finger beside her eye.
--
”I will, for sure! Ethiriel will make the best decision for herself.” Henry said, giving the vet a thumb’s up. He nodded as Zeke spoke, listening carefully to his suggestions. ”I plan on setting an appointment soon, actually! Thanks for the idea, though!”
Giving Zeke a pat on the back, Henry began leading him back into the living room with the two Freis. ”you’ll be the first I contact once plans are made,” he said. The nurse hoped that this would lead to Ethiriel feeling more confident, whichever path she chose – especially given it would be entirely her choice.
”So, does anyone need anything?” Henry said, his voice loud and clear once they were in the living room. ”I don’t have much but I’d like to make you guys comfortable while you’re here!”

There was relief to be found at Ethiriel's reply.
"That's good. Zeke and Brad have pets and I have a tarantula." Once in awhile Zeke would also bring home critters to temporarily foster, although such a thing hadn't happened in a while. "We also have a nice backyard. They both garden and there's plenty of places to sunbathe."
Anya would be doing a lot of that in the months to come. It would be better, perhaps, with another who enjoyed such things and was good company regardless of where they were.
When the Tea Frei almost-offered a visit to her bedroom, it was possible Anastacia could have smiled a little. Like Schrodinger's Cat, it was only in that realm because no one saw.
"Maybe one day you will."
--
"Not a problem! Always happy to help!"
Zeke followed without needing any prompting, strolling into the living room with a grin and noticeable bounce in his step.
"You girls having fun?" Beaming at the two Frei, he didn't reclaim his seat. Instead the vet went about collecting his things and putting them away, ending with the notebook being tucked on top of everything in the bag. Now that the check up was over, it was the most important thing to pull out again when he got back to the Lab.
Anastacia nodded to the vet's question, her face at that placid, neutral place it rested at.
"We're talking about places to go to this summer."
"Really?" If Zeke could light up anymore, he would wash out the colors in the room. He sought out Henry, looking every part the excited Guardian he was at the news. "That's great! Really great! You know if you need me to drive you guys anywhere, I'm more than happy to!"
"I know, Zeke."
He could have started off on a ramble of a tangent, but Henry's question cut Zeke off at the pass. He stopped right where he was, shaking his head.
"I'm good thanks." Anya followed suit.
"No thank you."
"It's hard not to be comfortable in a place as nice as this!" And as if sealing his statement in, the vet finally sat down again. Of course, in doing so, it set him to rounding on the two girls again. "So what do you guys have in mind? The beach? The aquarium? Oh! Maybe a sleepover or two?!"
