Username: AislingJuno Name: óskmey (Old Norse "wish maid") Temper: dauntless
Do you own or co-own a triwing?: no
Personality: óskmey carries the blood of warriors in her veins. Unlike some valkyrie óskmey doesn’t kill lightly in fact she won’t kill until she been a warrior for some time. Some valkyrie might she her as weak hearted, others see her afraid of the Taint and her mother will mistakenly believe she inherited her unicorn healer instinct. However óskmey reasons are more personal she hold a high value of Valhalla and wants her first kill to be especially honorable. óskmey is very prideful over her herds rituals and guide only the best and brightest soq to Valhalla. óskmey is a shield maiden and her heritage is important to her and the other female herd members are her sisters . óskmey is very protective of her herd sisters and her little brother. If she was to ever leave the herd it would be to protect her little brother Elijah. She hopes he will become a strong and powerful soq like the stories her mother has told her about her father. However if she doesn’t believe her brother could survive on his own she would leave the herd and become exile but a part of her soul would die. óskmey also reveres lighting and believes lighting is a blessing. She will often translate lighting falling as the foreshadowing of auspicious event. óskmey also places great importance on her voice and as foal trained her voice diligently. However while she does have a decent singing voice she trained her voice to be able to have an ear shaking pitch that she uses to disorient foe. óskmey is also very good at fighting without killing other soq as she believes only the best warriors with honorable spirits shall be granted access to the eternal Valhalla.
Family Relationship: óskmey realionship with Rouxe is a bit unusual. While Rouxe is her mother, óskmey has a more teacher/ student relationship with her mother. óskmey knows her mother will never be outwardly affectionate but she yearns to receive praise from Rouxe so she tries to be dutiful and act like the perfect young valkyrie. As a foal she will often sneak away to visit her mother and ask Rouxe to tell stories of her past adventures. óskmey is particularly is curious of the outside world and to hear stories about her father. She hopes that her brother will grow up to be strong like him. óskmey also never calls her mother mom to her face but refers to her as Rouxe. Alone or with her brother she will refer to Rouxe as mother or mom. Like other young valkyrie she will be raised the traditional style of group parenting and will have strong emotional ties with other adult female valkyrie and view the older females as big sisters. óskmey relationship with her brother is a bit twisted. She adores Elijah , he’s shy and clumsy and used to follow her all around. However óskmey fears that her little brother is too soft and naive. If she could protect him all the time she would but life in the herd is difficult and she fears he will be looked down because of his nature. She knows the day will probably come when he will be kicked out of the herd and will have nobody to protect him. óskmey decides as a foal that she needs to toughen Elijah up and will often say cruel words to him or put him in situations that she will believes will toughen him up. Elijah won’t realize her cruel actions towards him are actually caused by óskmey worry over his survival skills. As for her middle brother and father she is very curious about them. She tries to gather as much information about her father as she can. Especially information about where her parents meet and what territory her father claims. óskmey hopes that should her little brother become isolated he can meet with their father and get help from him should he ever need it. Though she hopes her brother will join the bachelor herd the valkyrie herd has an alliance with.
Rank: Member ( she’ll be a warrior and in times of peace a musician ) Option: B How faithful is she to the Code?: óskmey is very faithful to the code.
Prompt Number: 1 Prompt Response: óskmey let out sound of distress as her brother lost his footing and fell into a pit. She leapt forward towards the pit instinctively but she could not stop his decent. óskmey heard the sound of her brother body hit the bottom of the pit and she winced in sympathy. She crept as close to the entry way of the pit as she dared and peered down . Elijah appeared to be in a state of shock “Brother are you ok,” she called out in panic. He did not immediately respond till her insistent cries of “brother,” seemed to rouse him.
“ I’m stuck but I didn’t break anything. “Elijah said his voice sounding faint.
óskmey felt tears well up from the corner of her eyes and roll down her face. She had never cried before and she could not tell if her tears were caused by sadness or relief that her brother was uninjured. Óskmey had always thought that tears were a sign of weakness in a valkyrie but her brother was her true weakness. She loved his shyness and his goofy nature but she feared for him. Her first memories after emerging from her basket were her brother’s wobbly walk and how when he tried to jump he would fall down and hit his chin on the ground. Elijah once even run full speed across a clearing and ran into a tree. Her brother made her worry and laugh but lately their relationship had started to change. Óskmey had been trying to toughen up Elijah by giving him small tasks that would bring him out of his comfort zone. Sometimes she would say cruel words to him in hopes that he would fight back and gain a little fighting spirit. It was her fault Elijah had fallen into the pit the truth gnawed at her. óskmey had snuck out of the camp to go into the forest to gather elderberries. After grazing on the first bush of berries she had spotted her brother following her and had tried to lose him in the dense foliage. Elijah hurriedly tried to follow her and had fallen into the pit an older valkyrie had dug. It was not a particularly deep pit for a full grown soq but it was too deep for a foal to get out a. The damp and slippery mud made the pit even more treacherous and near impossible to escape from.
“Can you get out.” Óskmey asked Elijah. Elijah tried climbing out of the pit but after several attempts he hung his head low. “It hopeless, I feel like I can almost make it but then the mud causes me to lose my footing,” Elijah said a defeated note in his voice.
“I’ll go mom will you be ok alone? “Óskmey asked questionably.
“I’ll be fine by myself,” Elijah said as he stuck out his lip. As Óskmey turned to go she heard rustling nearby. “ Who’s there?” She asked hesitantly but only silence reigned.
The wind changed directions and a sharp arid scent came to her nose. Óskmey couldn’t place the smell but she knew the smell was not of another soq. Óskmey walked to the other side of the pit and placed herself between the pit and foliage she believed the rustling was coming from. “Óskmey.. Óskmey what’s wrong!” Elijah shouted.
The rustling became louder and a Bob cat jumped out of the bushes. Óskmey screamed her high pitch voice gave an ear splitting shriek that disoriented the feline. Still screaming Óskmey spread out her wings making her body seem much bigger and charged at the cat. In confusion the cat ran turned tail and ran back into the brush. “Are you ok,” Elijah voice came from behind her. Óskmey whirled back in surprise. “How did you get out of the pit?” Óskmey asked.
“I just ran up it flapping my wings and before I knew it I was at the top. I was just so full of panic when I heard you scream that I didn’t think about the height my body just reacted,” Elijah voice remarked in wonder.
-The day Elijah fell into the pit and rescued himself was the day Óskmey learned her brother could take care of himself. It was Elijah first step in learning how to fly and it was the day Óskmey learned to scream-
Plot Ideas: The powerless hunter: Óskmey comes to odds with some of her sisters. They believe she should step down from the warrior position because she hasn’t taken a life. For awhile she will step back from being a warrior and join the gathering class until one day she see’s warrior that she judges strong and honorable. He will be broken hearted over losing his lifemate and after talking with him she will share the wonders of Valhalla. Lighting: an event to be foreshadowed by lighting and for Óskmey to question her values.
Brother- This plot will depend on what Elijah will do. If he leaves and joins the bachelor herd she will stay within the herd. If he goes off alone she might stay or might follow him.

Username: FrostyPeaches Name: Leah Temper: Valiant
Do you own or co-own a triwing?: No I do not own a triwing nor co-own one
Personality: Leah is a bold and valiant character. Whatever is requested of her to do, she will not disobey her mother for she is the sole creature that brought up two youngins on her own. She is grateful for her mother to excel at hunting and gathering, while providing resources for her and her brother to eat and fall asleep in a safe surrounding until they were old enough to hunt/gather food on their own. She is protective of her mother and brother and will not stand aside if she feels like her family is being threatened by strangers, and even family. All in all she is a fair foal that will not jip colts of their share of food. She finds peace while living with her mother. At times she could be stubborn if her view and her brother's are not the same when it comes to sharing material things. But when she stops and thinks with her head, she would always find a solution that would be fair for the both of them. She is the happiest when she can get along with her mother and brother.
Family Relationship: (What is her relationship with her mother and youngest brother? Does she hope or intend to visit her father or middle brother?) Leah adores her clumsy little brother, Elijah, but will not show her playfulness until they are alone together, away from their mother's sight, for showing kindness is seen as a weakness through her eyes. Every now and then, if requested, she would help Elijah out until she is not needed anymore. She would help enough for him to bounce back at whatever circumstance/circumstances that he is/was facing (may it be trying to maneuver his wings or to solve problems/dilemmas/girl problems/etc). As she gets older, she grows to understand her meaning and place in life. The herd, the blood that flows within her body, each and everything makes her who she is. Her relationship with her mother is the quiet yet understanding type. A mother of few words, does not have to speak more than needed. As long as she can see kindness in her mother's eyes, or a quick nod of the head, that's already enough for Leah to know that Rouxe is proud of her. Leah would mimic all that her mother does from foal stage into young adulthood, while learning and absorbing all the useful skills that is being taught to her and her little brother by their mother.
Rank: Member Option: A How faithful is she to the Code?: (If there are discrepancies between her beliefs and the Code, please describe them.) She takes the code to heart and to grave with her. She wants to keep their heritage strong and is willing to pass down the Code if she ever gets any children of her own.
Prompt Number: 3 - You dye your hair pink. To your horror, you realize it doesn't wipe off, and your mother will return shortly. What do you do? (And why did you dye it in the first place?) Prompt Response: Elijah laughed out loud as he saw her sister with a bright strand of freshly dyed pink hair. His breathing had grown heavily as he could not contain his laughter.
"Ugh, could you stop laughing already?" she scolded at her little brother, half angry, and half with laughter. A dare is a dare. Dying a few strands of hair was no big deal to Leah. She turned to look at her brother and asked, "Tell me honestly, it suits me well does it not?"
Her brother, trying to calm himself down, just stood there and nodded his head.
"A dare is a dare, now I can wash this off before mother comes back," she muttered to no one in particular.
Before she could do anything else, even if she wants to dunk her head in the pond, Rouxe appeared in view with a stern look in her eyes.
"Mother, I lost a dare," she spoke to her coolly. "It will wash out in a few days. For now you can recognize me easier while I am out there playing with Elijah," she grinned and ran away. No matter what, her mother was still scary.
Plot Ideas: - Mother, are there more of us out there? Over time, she will start to question if she ever had a father or if there are more family members she has not met before. As she gets older, she will eventually face her mother and ask about it. (This is where she could try and meet Zamiel or Dumah in the future older stages in their lives with or without her little brother, Elijah, being around.)
- Mother x Daughter bonding time. In this case, she would like to know her mother a little bit better than just being a motherly figure that brought them up on her own. She wants to know what it's like to be a valkyrie and why she is not with the herd that her mother seldom spoke of. (This is a learning phase to Leah about the herd and the mother.)
- What is love? She has to shamefully turn to her mother or father to talk about these 'feelings' that she has within her from meeting this certain stallion. (This is an emotional phase where she may experience this thing called love during her older adulthood stage.)

Username: Thamin Name: Skuld Temper: Indifferent
Do you own or co-own a triwing?: No
Personality: Though emotions are not something that is shunned, Skuld views the code in such a fashion that she tries her best to not allow herself to grow attached to any one thing or individual. That is not to say that she is unfeeling. She is a very kind mare that is ever curious and joyful. She is bright, almost to the point that others may deem her to be carefree, and she is always wanting to help others. All, though, is in an effort to uphold the code to it's fullest. She does not wish for any personal connections to sway her judgement of a worthy individual to send to Valhalla. She views taint as a very serious matter, and will not allow herself to acquire any. Her curiosity is her yerning to learn so that she may teach the rest of the herd. Family Relationship: Family is important to Skuld. Unfortunately, due to her community upbringing her connection to her biological family is no stronger than that to the rest of the herd members (or so she believes). She acknowledges that her mother gave birth to her, and that her brother is of her own blood, and she is highly respectful of that fact. She loves both dearly, though being raised in a community where all are equal her love is not something she knowingly shows. She would take her mothers advice and teachings to heart more-so than the other herd members and would do her best to aid and guide her brother before doing so for other members without even realizing it. Once Skuld is an adult and ready to travel on her own she would like to see who else she comes from; she will seek out her father and brother, but due to their lack of upbringing in the herd and (most likely) different views and beliefs than the code she will not have a connection with either other than a respect for her fathers part in her existence. Rank: Member Option: B How faithful is she to the Code?: She is faithful to the code, almost to a fault.
Prompt Number: 2 Prompt Response: Scrambling hooves attempted to steady themselves, wings flared and flapped in a futile attempt to right the delicate form beneath them. It was inevitable though and within seconds Skuld went crashing to the ground. It was her fault, and she knew it. She was supposed to be diligent in her observation of her surroundings, ever wary. Though her training was not complete, Skuld knew that a mishap like this out in the field of combat could not only lead to the other being being aware of her presence but may lead to undue stress and trauma on their part. Or, even worse, it could end with her own demise if her target were to fight back. It was a shame. Tiny ears pressed back as Skuld stood and viewed her surroundings. Others from the herd, her brother, her mother... All had seen. She hung her head for a moment. She was ashamed of herself for the happenings, but there was nothing to be done. One could not take back an action once it had happened, and she knew she would have to live with the consequences. She could place blame and try to state that it was not her fault. She could become irate - how could someone be careless enough to leave this lying about? But no. It was her fault. Shaking herself free from dust and debris she gracefully bent down and picked up the banana peel. Silently she walked over to a nearby refuse pile and tossed the peel onto it. "There..." She whispered, content with her actions. "Now no one else will slip."
Plot Ideas: ((I'm no good at posting plot ideas that are detailed. They are either one-liners with a general idea of where I would like to go/accomplish, or massive fully detailed one page per idea essays. For the sake of space and time, unfortunately, I shall resort to the former. ))
Typical childhood, taught by many, explore different learning venues and different roles for possible future learning. childhood - Moral dilemmas that contradict the code - code wins out - learns to not let bias affect her judgement I want lots of interaction with her brother - possible plots for growth are abundant due to her distant nature with him. young adult - venture from the herds, first real taste of how the rest of the world views the code, and her. another lesson to remain unbiased. adult - figure out where in the herd she would like to be, what profession she would like. adult - find and meet her father and younger brother adult - help teach and rear any new foals to the herd. Way down the line somewhere - Send someone to Valhalla

Hello, everyone, and thank you for taking the time to have participated in this contest! The styles and concepts presented in this thread varied considerably, and they were a delight to read. It was clear to us that you worked hard on your entries, and we were truly blessed to have had the opportunity to see the results of your efforts. Unfortunately, as is the nature of these contests, there may only been one winner. But no matter the outcome, we hope you were able to derive as much pleasure from participating in this contest as we have had in hosting it!
Now, without further ado, we would like to congratulate DarkenWoodWolf! The basket is yours, if you so wish! Please confirm with us that you are satisfied with your choice of name and temper; afterwards, I will submit the family for certing and contact you for plots! For those interested, you are free to send me (Ryuukishin) a PM if you would like to know how your concept matched up against the herd’s beliefs! (To clarify, cohesion to the herd concept was not heavily considered in judging. I realize that RP contests aren’t conducive to facilitating feedback, and that not everyone would be equally comfortable contacting me if they had any questions. Thus, so long as it was clear that the user had read the basics – which, in this case, was everyone! – it did not count against them if there had been any misinterpretation of the herd’s culture and practices. I’m offering this service not to give criticism, but to clarify concepts for those interested.)
In addition, I would like to announce that the Code of Edda is now public! I had initially intended to keep it closed until I had managed to obtain Edda and fill in some details; however, the ideas posted in the contest has made me incredibly excited to begin plotting, and I hope there will be others who feel the same!
Thank you, everyone!
