Sighing, Corinth took hold of the coat back from her, pulling away only long enough to turn around and grab the girl by the shoulders and rested his forehead to hers. "It's the scariest ******** thing ever isn't it? Watching your life slip away and not being able to do a damn thing about it?" His voice was soft, calm.

"But you were lucky and you survived. It may not have left physical scars - but it's going to leave a scar on your mind and your heart forever. It's not gonna get any easier - you're going to have nightmares, it's going to get worse before it gets better."

He moved slowly again, giving the top of her head a platonic peck of his lips before he shakily regained his footing.

"But it does get better. This isn't about not being afraid Harmonia - there isn't a time I'm fighting that I'm not ready to piss myself from fear. It's about understanding that fear - and knowing that we have to do our part to keep not only our city safe - but ourselves safe."

He watched her with soft eyes.

"The next time you run into that Lieutenant, you're going to do the smart thing and run the ******** away right?"

When Corinth took the coat back from her she bit her lip, afraid she had offended him in some way but his abrupt movement surprised her as she found herself face to face with him. His words caused the tears she had tried so hard to hold back to fall. Unlike her crying spurts at home where she shaked and sobbed, this was more out of pure relief.

He knew. She should have realized that he would get it. That he would understand where she was coming from. As her physical wounds healed she thought that everything would be OK but it hadn’t been. Mentally she felt weaker and less capable. Isn’t that why she reached out to him tonight to patrol with? Because she feared being alone and possibly running into a Nega again so soon.

The kidd upon her head caused Harmonia’s eyes to go wide as the tears slowly abated. She looked up at him, a soft flush across her cheeks that easily could be written away as the effects of her crying, that -was- half the truth. His gentle words of encouragement were something she so desperately needed to hear and she gave a slow nod of understanding.

A small chuckle escaped her before she wiped her now drying eyes. “Yea. Definitely.’

Carefully she rose climbed back up to her feet. A small tingling sensation greeted her as blood rushed back into her legs which had just begun to fall asleep from being knelt on for so long. Glancing down at her self she smoothed out her skirt, noting the little bit of blood on her gloves from aiding Corinth.

“I really am sorry though.” She tilted her head slightly towards his wound. “I’ll get better. I don’t want you or anyone to get hurt because I am afraid or can’t fight.”

Corinth tsked his tongue and shook a finger at her, keeping the coat pressed firmly against his neck but feeling a bit better but he was still going to have a hell of a time patching himself up once he got home.

He was not very glad he'd invested in that large first-aid kit.

He'd have to sneak in, his mom would make him go to the ER to get checked.

He did not want that - for many reasons.

"Good," He said with a nod. "It's okay to be afraid - remember that. But it shouldn't stop you from diving in and putting it all on the line to keep others safe."

He shook his head then. "It's fine - I'll be okay in a few days." He'd just have to keep his patrolling light. And explain to Hafwen what was going on.

Ugh... He was not looking forward to that conversation.

"Do you need a ride home? Or are you still leery about exposing your civilian identity?"

She nodded her agreement to his statement. It was odd to think about being afraid while also mustering up the courage to fight. Maybe some day she wouldn't be afraid but right now she'd need to learn to cope with it.

At his offer she barely paused. "No. I mean, yes I'd love a ride home. This way I can make sure you're really alright and don't like, pass out from blood loss or something." She eyed the blood stained coat. The wound had slowed down it's consistent weeping of blood but she still worried. If he can make it to his car and drive me to home then I'll feel better about leaving him alone.

Glancing around she looked back in the direction they had come from. "Are you alright going back on the rooftops or would you rather walk back?"

"Walking is probably the safest option right now." Corinth admitted, not really wanting to risk falling to his death by slipping off one of them in a moment of weakness.

"This way," He murmured, turning slowly as he began to navigate his way down to the street, taking his time and timing his jumps before he hit the ground level. Looking around, hoping that the youma had indeed been wild and not under the control of an officer, he took a deep breath.

And powered down.

With a shuddered gasp he felt his body lean fully into the alley wall, gritting his teeth as his neck burned from the exposure to the cold night air. But the bleeding was done - leaving just a large, raw purpling bruise with red ring bite mark on his neck.

It looked like he'd been mauled - and it definitely felt like it.

His head spun, but he just took slow breaths until he turned to look at Harmonia. "It's just a few blocks over..." He motioned.

Harmonia followed just behind Corinth as they made their descent. She kept a close eye on him but his careful manuvering got him to the ground relatively easily. She landed next to him just as he powered down and got quite a shock as her brain muddled through connecting Corinth as Darren and seeing his body lean heavily on the wall for support.

To think that Corinth, a guy she had come to think of as nice, supportive and a friend was the same guy who had managed to annoy her the one time they had met at school. She was having a hard time putting the two of them together. Corinth she really liked and Darren...well...maybe their one encounter had just been a bad day for both of them?

When he turned to look at her, Harmonia quickly powered down. It really wasn't the time to hesitate or get lost in through. Darren was obviously in quite a bit of pain and the sooner they got moving and back to the car the better. "Let's just take it easy going back, K? I am not sure what I'd do if you toppled over on me and you don't look great right now."

She took note of the fact though that, now exposed to the chill air, the wound seemed to have finally stopped bleeding. "That's one nasty bruise."

Darren would have laughed at the irony that Harmonia was actually the one girl he'd accosted at school if he wasn't pretty sure it would hurt to laugh. He was hurting bad, so he just shook his head slowly instead, hissing a bit as the pain of moving his head throbbed along neck.

"Heh, sorry about before," It was all he was going to say as he pushed himself away from the wall and shakily moved his way into the actual street proper, sticking to the sidewalk and taking his time.

"It hurts, not gonna lie." He winced. "I'll just have to have my girlfriend nurse me back to health." He allowed himself to laugh then, then hissed cause it was - indeed - a mistake.

Chailee glanced up at him as he apologized and sighed. "No need to apologize. I feel like you've more than made up for it by now." She smiled a little shyly. "More than a drink would have anyway."

"Just don't move your head too much. That's not helping. And stop laughing." She huffed as she walked beside him, keeping her focus both on him and the sidewalk. She was afraid to take her eyes off of him but also didn't want to trip over something and look like a complete fool in the process. After everything that just occurred she didn't need to add another tick in the 'idiot' box.

"Are you going to head to your girlfriends place then?" For the most part she really didn't care one way or the other what he did, but a small, newly formed part of her hoped that he wasn't. "I mean, if it'll be better I can just make sure you get to your car alright and power up and head home on my own. I don't want you to push yourself."

She was genuinely worried for him. He's definitely hurting a lot.

Darren, who normally stood at 5'11" was somewhat hunched from the pain, he did manage to stick his tongue out at Chailee though. "I might - if I knew what dorm it was and didn't think I'd get her in trouble by having a boy over. She goes to Crystal - I don't know if I told you that or not." He said, somewhat amused that she would ask.

"Plus if she saw me right now I'd get read the riot act... and then some. Though I might get some good nursing out of it so I don't know - might be worth the lecture." He made a face then, and clenched his fist to fight the urge to SCRATCH at the mess that was his neck right then.

Oh but it burned and itched so bad.

So bad.

"I've actually dealt with worse, to be fair," Darren said. "I mean there was the whole dying thing - you know what that felt like to some degree..." He patted his chest. "Then there's the time my girlfriend gave me a concusion... Soccer ball to the head - it's a long story."

"You're an okay kid though, thanks for having my back." He gently punched her in the arm, then wrapped an arm over her shoulder and leaned a little bit against her as they walked.

"Don't mind me, just a bit tired," He said weakly as they continued to walk. "But I'm okay to drive. What'll be fun is if Step-mom called it in stolen... the b***h."

"I think you might have. I didn't know boys weren't allowed at all though. I mean, I know it's all girls school but...well...now that I think about it a boy appearing in the middle of the night would probably not be a bad thing."

She felt a bit bad though that he may get in trouble though. "Just tell her it's my fault. It wouldn't be a lie." She glanced up at him still feeling bad about the whole situation, but nothing would ever make her feel truely alright by what had occurred. "Maybe then she won't be so angry at you?"

At the mention of nearly dieing Chay's face paled a bit but she nodded slowly. "Yea...well...I guess that I am not trying to get you to a hospital right now is a good sign." She eyed the angry wound.

Ugh, and there was the kid thing again. She mocked rubbing her arm in pain where he had punched her. I am not a kid... But she didn't have it in her argue with him over his choice of words, especially as she felt the weight of his arm around her shoulder and him leaning slightly into her. Her body went rigid for a moment at the contact, but she quickly recovered and pushed back a little on her own to counteract him.

"Whoa...stolen? Don't you and your mom get along?" The words came out of her mouth before she realized how personal that question was. "Um, you don't need to answer that."

It was very odd for the young teen to have a guy that she had mixed feelings about leaning on her in such a familiar way. She didn't mind. It just confused her even more than she already was.

"No, no ******** hospitals - you even think about trying to get me into one of those..." He took a deep breath.

"Just... let's get you home, alright kiddo?" Darren smiled at her before sighing.

"My step-mother. Me and my real mom get along just fine. But she has it out for me like nobody's business."

He squinted as they cleared the third block and he nudged her to turn down the side street, until they reached a small parking garage which he entered. Leading her to a small white four door sedan.

"It's not locked, make yourself comfortable." He motioned at the passenger side as he got into the driver's seat, and working on getting it turned on.

Chay was a bit taken back by Darren's rather aggressive response about hospitals. Sure she didn't like them either but who really did? They existed for a reason though. It's not like I could drag him there if he didn't want to go. She decided not to even try to push the subject. It was really moot anyway.

Stepmother? Well, that was interesting. Again though her curiosity was taking her to places that she deemed were a bit too personal to pry into at the current time. Especially considering the condition the poor guy was in. So Chay followed his gentle nudging and followed him down the street and into the parking garage. As they passed the vehicles she pondered what kind of car he might drive. The little white sedan wasn't what she had really expected. Well...it must be his mother's car. Why else would he mention her possibly reporting it stolen?

"Mkay." She answered as she reached for the passenger door and eased herself inside, taking care not to hit the car next to them with the door. Once inside she buckled herself in.

"I guess if you're not going to your girlfriends you're going home? Will your step mom be awake when you get home?"

Wehn the car finally started up she glanced at the time. "It's a bit later than I thought." She sighed and put her head back against the rest. "I should be fine though. This whole sneaking around thing is so tiring. Especially since my hospital visit."

"I'm still on the fence about paying her a visit - I might just to save myself having to deal with the step-mom." Darren said dryly.

"Alright, navigate for me," He put the car in gear and pulled out of the garage, not worrying about what time it was at the moment. "Just let me know when I'm close I'll turn the lights off and coast in so they don't wake up..."

He didn't want to get her in trouble.

"Alright, just take a left when we get out of here then."

Chailee guided Darren to her house on the most direct route she could think of. Besides her giving him directions she was mostly quiet, but in a rather content way. Having powered down and now sitting in the vehicle was almost therapeutic in a way and made her rather sleepy. She'd always found car rides relaxing, and it was even more-so now.

She glanced over at Darren periodically. In it's slighly sleepy haze her mind wasn't prone to really thinking about anything in particular. Yes, she was worried for him but her glances were also based from just a need to observe him while he drove. It was a curious sensation, wanting to just watch someone, but she was willing to appease that part of her.

She looked out the front window when she realized where they were. "Oh, at this stop sign here make a right and it'll be the 5th house up on the left. The one with the large porch there."

Darren did as she said, but at the third house he turned off the headlights and eased off the gas, letting the car coast to a stop in front of the house before turning his head as he placed it in park.

"Well," He said slowly.

"This is your stop." He was watching her for a moment before he smiled.

"Stay safe, and try not to get in too much trouble." Last thing they needed was for her to get grounded. "We need you out there... I need you out there."
