"It's okay, Bosede. We aren't going to forget about you here," Eziya tried to reassure the great raptrix, patting him gently on the head before turning back towards Nyiim. Slowly, she took her first step onto the staircase. Her legs felt a little weak, but she would push forward. With help from Nyiim of course. It really was a good thing he wasn't afraid of collapsing bridges and such like she was. The cool breeze blowing was a bit of a shock, but perhaps there was a hole somewhere or maybe another way out even. The entrance they went in couldn't be the only one. The glow could have even come from the other place for all she knew. "Do you think the glow may have gone outside somehow? Or is leading us to something? I'd hate to go somewhere we won't be able to get out," she muttered, chewing on her lip as she slowly followed after him on the staircase. She wondered if the glow even called this ruin its home or if it resided somewhere else entirely.

Bosede's eyes turned up and his tail barely wagged at the reassurance. How could he protect his master all the way up here?!
Nyiim helped the girl pick her way down the stairs, testing them first with his own weight before allowing her to follow. This was probably why he always went exploring alone, he thought. More people meant more liability, especially if they weren't very experienced. It wasn't like time was running against them, though, and there had yet to be anything dangerous marring their path, so he continued on.
It was only a short while before another sound joined the gentle echoes of the tunnel. It was a dull roar, but natural. Alluring. Water? Nyiim leaped down the last few stairs himself and peered out into the blackness. There it shimmered, an underground river pitching softly across the enormous room as if nothing had changed. Beyond was some sort of shrine, gently lit by torches that couldn't possibly still be burning with original flame, could they? At the feet of a grand statue sat a tablet, presumably for offerings, and atop it in a little bowl sat the glowing violet light, unmoving.
Nyiim returned to Eziya and held out his hand to help her.
"I think you made the right choice," he said with a little nod. "Come see."

Eziya took his hand, curious as to what he had seen. She couldn't really see from the spot she was at, but she could hear the sound of rushing water. Odd, but not unlikely in a place like this. Following after the taller man, she gasped when she spotted just what he was talking about. The river was beautiful and very calming in the large room, but the shrine itself was magnificent. How long had it been there untouched by anyone? It was a bit sad that something so great had been lost, and that no one had come to pay their respect in such a long time. She really wondered what the shrine was dedicated to. Was it a grave, or perhaps dedicated to a specific god of some sort? "I guess it was leading us here then, but why?" Eziya said more to herself than anyone in particular. "Did you want us to know that you were still down here?" She took a step closer to it as she asked, hoping it wouldn't float away once more. She was curious what sort of offering it wanted; perhaps she had something that she could give to it.

The glow remained on the other side of the river, not flickering or disappearing but well out of reach. Nyiim smirked and looked down to Eziya as she addressed the thing. She really had it in her head this was a ghost, didn't she? It was cute. He personally wouldn't have considered speaking to it, but then he wasn't the most socially apt as it was.
"Be careful," he warned as she began to move toward the river. He couldn't tell by sound just how fast it was running and it wouldn't do to have her carried away in its current. He approached the edge and went down on one knee, then dipping his hand into the water. It was frigid, but not rushing. If they really wanted to, they could perhaps cross. A small stone bridge appeared to have been constructed at one time, but all that was left was the foundation that sat on the banks. A few large, smooth rocks could be seen nearby and were probably all that remained of the structure.
A shuffle, like clothes rustling. A feeling that something solid existed behind him. Nyiim stood and turned quickly, would swear he heard and felt someone there, but there was nothing. Spooky.

"Of course I will be careful, silly! I do want to cross over somehow though," Eziya muttered, lifting her skirt slightly and sticking her foot partially into the water. Oh it was cold, but she was determined to get across somehow. Perhaps she could hop across the stones instead of going through the frigid water. The smooth rocks may be potentially slick though. The bridge had been out for who knew how long, so she couldn't exactly gauge if there was something on them to assist her falling or not. She just needed some way across to visit the little orb! She glanced back at Nyiim, curious to see what he had been looking at. "Is something wrong, Nyiim? Did you hear Bosede or something? Is he in trouble?" she questioned, tilting her head at the taller Leaf man. If there was something she had missed she really wanted to know. She didn't like missing out on things, and she had stubbornly pushed forward on the chase for the orb so if he had heard or seen something it was vital to sate her curiosity.

Nyiim hadn't had time to respond before the odd feelings rushed over him. How had someone come and gone so quickly? He stood. He had been mistaken, of course, or else they weren't alone.
"Hello?" he called, standing just beside Eziya. She was unarmed after all.
There came no reply.
"No," he replied finally, "It was nothing." They would be careful, though. Just in case. "Do you think you could manage the cold?" He had vaguely registered a little splash when she had tested the river. it was cold, yes, but if her clothes stayed dry she would be just fine.

"That didn't exactly sound like nothing. Is everything okay? Are you feeling well?" The Shifter questioned, immediately concerned by his odd reaction to seemingly nothing. "You aren't getting sick or anything are you? Perhaps we should turn back?" As much as she would hate to turn back, Eziya would always put the health of others before her own wants. No matter what it may be. So if Nyiim was getting sick from the ruins or something....they should head back. Looking at the water and the little floating orb across the mass, she chewed on her bottom lip debating on what her next move would be. "I don't want to stay if you're sick....and I don't want to leave either. I could potentially cross the water fairly quickly, though I've never dealt with cold really before. It shouldn't be too hard though, right? Maybe just a quick shock and then I'll be across."Potentially freezing was also an option, but she was sure it wasn't that cold.

"No, no, I'm fine," Nyiim insisted, shaking his head. He was a little irritated at the girl's insistence, but then he had lied to her. Just because he hadn't seen anything didn't mean he hadn't heard and felt it. It was something alright, just apparently not a person.
Without another word, the Leaf man began to roll up the cuffs of his pants. The water was only about knee-height and as long as he stayed mostly-dry he would be fine. Eziya would too.
"Lift your sss--..." 'Lift your skirts'? Really?! Nyiim could feel himself blushing as he amended the statement. "Roll your skirts up and it should be fine." To wade across would take some time and undoubtedly it would be a bit of an issue to climb out across slimy cave rock, but they'd make it fine.
OpticPeach Don't send Eziya all the way across! He'll come with her, but some more spookums will happen in the water. We can probably get this to 40 posts and get 2 points out of it! 8D

"Roll up my skirts? I suppose that would help me get across," Eziya nodded, rolling her skirts up her toned legs to around her thighs. Hopefully she would be able to hold onto them and not trip and fall trying to keep them up. That would be an embarrassing sight. "It is good to hear that you are well at least. I'd hate to cause you more trouble than I already have by getting you sick or something." She continued to say, watching Nyiim as he worked to roll his pants up. She was still a bit worried about him, but she wouldn't push him anymore and risk making him upset or something. She really was just concerned about him, but it was not her place to push him for more information. If he didn't want to say anything it was his right to and she would have to accept it. grasshopper pie Oh I'd have her trip and fall in the water before I made her go too far across. Especially since we're so close to 40! biggrin She's just a big goof who is very impatient. ^^'

Nyiim went into the water first with a loud splash, and then lifted his hand for Eziya to take to steady herself. That was the polite thing to do, right? He didn't mind getting dirty, but she well might. The water was cold, but not freezing, and he began across.
Their own rhythm was steady. Swish, swish. Swish, swish. It concerned him then when he heard a more rapid crashing coming toward them, and he stopped to hear that there was indeed a third set of sounds. Without hesitation he nocked an arrow and drew his bow, aiming for the sound. So maybe there was some danger here. Maybe they weren't alone after all. He'd feel terrible if this poor girl had to see battle and death on her first big adventure.
The sounds grew closer and closer still, violent and thrashing, and then they were nearly atop the pair and there was nothing. Nothing there, no person running through the river, no struggling animal caught in the current. There was nothing, and then it just stopped. It was gone as suddenly as it had started, and he looked to Eziya out of the corner of his eye.
She'd heard it too, right?
He relaxed his arm and tucked the arrow back into his quiver, then went to the bank as quickly as he could and offered both hands down to help Eziya out. He saw nothing in the water, no slinking reptile or dark shapes. It was water. Just water.
Still the violet light glowed before the altar.

That was....incredibly creepy to say the least. She was worried she had been the only one to hear it, but looking up at Nyiim she knew otherwise. The water had been fine, but whatever that noise had been had shaken her up just a bit. How could something so loud disappear so quickly? It was unnerving. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she grabbed Nyiim's hand to steady herself and come up onto the bank beside him. There the orb sat atop its alter, not moving even for a moment. After all the strange things that had happened in there was curious to see just what this thing was. Hopefully it wouldn't be a waste of time, but she tended to doubt it after all the noises they had heard in the water. She glanced over at Nyiim once more, curious to see just what he would do. She wanted to go up and try touching the glow, but that really wasn't the best plan. Not after what they'd heard.

They rose from the water damp and cold and reasonably a bit weirded-out. Nyiim was more careful as they approached the altar, watching to either side in case someone was messing with them. The cavern was silent but for the movement of the water.
The orb allowed them to grow close and closer still until they were just beside it. It didn't run, it didn't flicker, it just illuminated the smooth statue above it of a goddess garbed in flowing robes.
Could they trust it? Nyiim wasn't so sure this place was as benign as he'd thought originally. He turned to Eziya for a moment before his attention returned to the orb. He was the one with the weapon. His fingers twitched at his quiver. Whatever it did, if it did anything, he would be ready.

The statue was beautiful, and she wondered if it was what the orb wanted them to see. With everything that had happened she wasn't too sure just what to think anymore. Was the orb good or bad? Had it led them into a trap or something grand? All these things she was unsure of and really she just wanted to know what was going on. If something dangerous occurred she was positive Nyiim would protect them, but there was only so much he could protect them from. "What should we do?' she whispered, not wanting to speak too loud for fear she may awaken something dangerous.

He had no idea. The orb seemed to decide for them.
It rose slowly, growing in strength as it did so. Nyiim realized then that, while it held a core of light, its center would be near impossible to strike if it was material at all. He leaned back slightly, but couldn't help the hand that reached up to it. If it attacked, he'd just take the brunt of it so Eziya could escape. Simple. He had never seen anything like this before.
The orb swirled around his hand and then around his head, and a feeling of warmth overtook him. It was not physical heat but something deep inside, something humming, and he closed his eyes a moment to bask in it, a grin splitting his face. He felt comfortable with it, even with the strangeness that had been happening around them. The orb sprinted around him twice and then turned its attention to Eziya, twirling around her a few times before it glowed the most brightly, lingered a moment, and the shot up toward the ceiling. It left a trail of light as it audibly zipped away and disappeared before it hit the stone, and Nyiim just laughed, watching the spot it had disappeared through.
Yes, definitely, no. He had never, not once in his life, seen anything like that. He turned to Eziya, still grinning, unable to offer words and just sharing in his eyes; had she seen that? It was amazing. It was exciting. It was an adventure worth having! He had no idea what that thing was, but it had been pretty neat, no?

"That was amazing!" Eziya exclaimed, very obviously excited at the little orb. It had disappeared and they still didn't exactly know what it was, but to have it float around and be so warm towards them - it had to be something good! It had led them all through the ruins and shown them the magnificent statue, and it really was just the coolest thing to the Shifter. She felt as if her first big adventure had been a big success, and Nyiim had been wonderful company through it all even if they did handle things a bit differently. They would probably never know what the small orb was, but it had given her an adventure she had thoroughly enjoyed, and that was all that really mattered to her. She had also learned some valuable lessons about being an adventurer with Nyiim's help. He was far more skilled at it than she was, and now she knew quite a bit more than she had previously. The healers would be happy to hear she learned something while running about unlike when she usually returned with.
