Natalia chuckled and shook her head as Aiden apologized. "It's fine, I'm just being overly dramatic." She insisted with a bit of a grin, nodding as he suggested that she'd be up and walking before she knew it, and that she would appreciate being able to walk again after being deprived of it for so long. "Heh, yeah, I think I'm gonna go for a nice long walk first thing in the morning, and I won't stop till I get to Azalea. You'd better keep up or I'll leave you behind~" Natalia teased with a grin. After Aiden told her more about the Anniversary of Amity, Natalia was enchanted with the idea of going to experience it herself, even Aiden seemed to agree that she would have liked it, but Natalia felt like there was something she was missing, like she hadn't quite connected all the dots, and when she asked if Five Island still celebrated the festival, she got her answer. Five Island was deserted last time Aiden had checked, the island had been deserted. A look of shock crossed Natalia's face. “W-what?! What happened??” She asked, but when the initial shock passed, Natalia remembered why. A memory flashed back to the forefront of her mind, Aiden cursing Void for ruining his life, for destroying his home and his family. At the time she had cared little for his sob story, but right now it was very real to her. Somehow, Natalia managed to suppress the feelings of self disgust and horror, swallowing them down and nodding slowly as Aiden suggested if the festival ever returned, he would be sure to take here to one.
Natalia somewhat reluctantly went along with Aiden's change of topic to a different means of sharing their pocky, feeling curious but hesitant. It seemed like a game that couples played but she couldn't help agreeing to play with him, probably out of guilt more than anything else. It did sound interesting at least, so Natalia finished up her pocky and took out another for them to use for the game once Aiden finished his. Once he had, he took one end of the pocky in his mouth, and Natalia sheepishly took the other end in her own, carefully munching towards the center and concentrating simply on not breaking the pocky, since that seemed like the goal of the game from the way Aiden had explained it, but for a moment Natalia was so focused on simply not breaking the pocky that she didn't notice how close she was getting to Aiden, and by the time she did, their lips had brushed up against each other and Natalia let out a quiet squeak of surprise, reeling back away from Aiden with a bright blush present on her cheeks. Arceus she must have seemed as timid as Thalia, getting this flustered over something so trivial, and yet she had been so shocked by the touch... Natalia hesitated. Maybe they shouldn't keep going, this was something for couples, or to be couples, they were nothing like that. Natalia wouldn't let them become that, but surely... One more couldn't hurt right...? Natalia found herself taking out another stick of pocky and fiddling with it shyly, debating it over for a bit before putting it in her mouth. "Ready for another round...?" She asked as casually as she possibly could muster.
With October heading inside the gym for her battle against Falkner and Rier under their care, Nyomii huddled close to the little Riolu to provide a little warmth. Aria seemed to take notice of River hiding between the two of them as well and lit her wand ablaze so that the little fighting type could stay warm, before suggesting they head indoors before the rain started up again. "I couldn't agree more. Why don't we head back to the pokemon center and get something to eat? I think I hear a nice bowl of warm milk calling my name~" The Espeon grinned, smiling down at River. "Doesn't that sound nice to you dear?" She offered. The Riolu was still just a pup after all, milk was probably going to be substantial for her. Besides, it was just what the doctor ordered on a cold day like today, and Nyomii would certainly hate to see River catch a cold.

✦ ✦Aiden gave a warm smile as Fey chuckled in response to his apology, saying that it was fine and that she was just being overdramatic. He went on to say that she would be up and walking again on her own when tomorrow rolled around, and that she would surely appreciate her freedom after being deprived of being able to walk for a week. She agreed, saying that once she was able to move again, she was going to go for a nice long walk, and she wasn’t going to stop until she got to Azalea. The blonde-haired boy chuckled, flashing a grin as she teased him, saying that he better keep up or else he would get left behind. ” Heh, we’ll see about that~ Maybe we’ll have a race to see who can get to Azalea first on the way there~” he said in a lightly joking tone, shifting a little into a more comfortable position on the bed. Of course, it was all in good humor, and it certainly warmed Aiden’s heart to see Fey smiling and laughing instead of the melancholic sighing and sulking she had been doing earlier. The topic soon shifted when she asked him what Valentine’s Day was like back on Five Island, and he was glad to tell her as he provided the story of the Anniversary of Amity. He found himself envisioning that he was back home, living out the events of the ceremony as he told the tale, Fey agreeing that she would’ve loved to have experienced it herself when he suggested that she would’ve liked it. As comfortable as Aiden was with discussing it, as the conversation about it went on he realized that the memory was much more bittersweet than he thought. Primarily because he knew that it wouldn’t ever be celebrated again, unless the people who lived on Five Island could be brought back home… Even to this day he wasn’t sure of what had happened to them after they had been detained by Team Void, but the thought that his family and the childhood friends he had grown up with could be dead made him sick to his stomach. After witnessing the deaths of his former team at the hands of that assassin, Aiden wasn’t sure just how much more loss he could take before it finally sent him over the deep end. When Fey asked if Five Island still celebrated the festival, Aiden solemnly answered that he doubted the Anniversary of Amity would be celebrated any time soon because the island had been completely deserted last time he’d been there. Fey looked shocked by the revelation, asking what had happened. ” I… It’s a bit of a complicated topic to explain…” Aiden said, taking deep breaths to try to keep his voice as even as possible, ” But to answer your question… everyone on Five Island was taken away, I’m the only surviving native as far as I know…” As much as he hated thinking about when Team Void had stormed the island and taken its citizens, including his parents, into custody, there had been something at the back of his mind that had been bothering him for a good long while. Why had Team Void taken away all of the Five Island citizens? Thinking back on it now, the act of seizing every single individual in the population seemed needless… Unless… maybe they were planning on doing something with the island and didn’t want any witnesses around, or maybe someone had done something involving Void that really pissed them off back then. Nonetheless, Aiden tried to not think too much on it, trying to make light of the situation by suggesting that he’d take Fey to the island with him if there was a chance in the future that the Anniversary of Amity would return. He gave a weak smile when she nodded in return, before deciding to shift the conversation topic to something else to take his mind off of the bad memories that were threatening to break the dam in the back of his mind. He suggested that they play a game to make sharing the Pocky together more interesting, having seen couples do something similar many times during his travels. Fey seemed hesitant, but her curiosity won over in the end as she agreed to play it with him. Of course, Aiden had half-expected her to outright refuse, but at the same time he was glad that she was willing to try it out with him. Sure enough, they decided to get started as they finished up the individual cookies they’d been munching on as Fey pulled out a fresh one to start. Taking one end of the stick into his mouth, Aiden waited as Fey took the other end as they started munching along the Pocky. It was simple, they just had to keep from breaking the stick as they got closer and closer to each other, though Aiden couldn’t help but recall that couples would kiss each other when they would get to the center successfully. Come to think of it, the implications of it seemed pretty intimate from a romantic standpoint, even though he had assured himself many times that he and Fey were just good friends. They had just gotten started on breaking the ice as far as getting to know each other well enough, all considerations taken into account, including the rather strange warping of time after they had gotten out of the ball. Even though it felt like they had only been at that damned mansion for a day, it seemed as though months had passed by since their initial departure. Aiden felt his face heat up a nice bright tomato red as he realized how close he and Fey were getting, their lips just brushing before she squeaked and reeled back with a blazing blush on her face, breaking the Pocky in the process. The blonde blinked slightly in surprise as his mind registered what had just happened, and he felt the heat in his face build up even more as butterflies stirred in his stomach. The fact that they had literally almost kissed was surprising to Aiden, and yet… he felt as though he wasn’t entirely adverse to the idea. Still, after all of that, he wouldn’t be surprised if Fey wanted to stop before things got awkward between them. He looked quite surprised when she was suddenly fishing out another stick of Pocky, twiddling it shyly in her hand and seeming to contemplate it before she placed it in her mouth. The surprise was replaced by a small smile as she asked if he was ready for another round, and Aiden seemed thoughtful as he glanced towards the new stick of Pocky. ” You know, it’s okay to tell me if you aren’t feeling comfortable with this, Fey, I’d understand completely if you wanted to stop,” he suggested, not wanting to feel like he was forcing her to do something that she wasn’t all that comfortable with. Still, he looked towards the Pocky she now held in her mouth, mulling over how tempting it was. ” But if you’re willing to, then sure, we can try another round~” he finally said with a smile, leaning in and taking the other end into his mouth and once again starting to eat his way towards the middle. He wondered just how close they could get this time, feeling the butterflies in his stomach stir anew at the thought.✦ ✦

Natalia grinned at the thought of a race. What an idea! "Oho, eager to take advantage of a soon to be ex cripple are we? Aiden I had no idea you were so cruel!" She teased and giggled hysterically, enjoying this far too much. She hadn't felt this at ease in years, it was a side of Natalia rarely seen, and even more rarely lived past long enough to tell the tale. The moment sobered however after recounting the five island tradition that would likely never be celebrated again. Natalia could tell Aiden was struggling to explain. Part of her wanted to reassure him that it was fine and that he didn't have to because she already knew, but that would be rather suspicious, so instead she watched him squirm, feeling despicable on the inside. "I-I see......" Natalia did her best to sound surprised and saddened, rather than guilt ridden. Void had taken everything away from him, just having been once a part of something so vile made Natalia get a bad taste in her mouth.
Desperate for distractions and a more pleasant conversation, the topic shifted to the pocky game, and while Natalia wasn't quite sure she should indulge Aiden's request, did felt so guilty that she couldn't help but go through with it, and nearly ended up kissing Aiden because of it. Now she was in too deep, afraid to stop and hurt Aiden's feelings, afraid to continue because of where this game would inevitably lead. Yet, Natalia found herself reaching for another stick of pocky.... It was like some sick, twisted guilty pleasure, knowing she was falling for a boy she could never be with, or at least not one she should ever be with, and yet she was still tempting fate, even now when she should know better. Aiden seemed to have picked up on her hesitation though, and insisted that if she wanted to stop, he would understand. Natalia smiled and nodded appreciatively, but remained in position to start another round, and Aiden took the bait, eating away at the other end of the pocky. It all seemed like child's play again, just friends playing a game, until their lips got closer again. This time Natalia was far more acutely aware of their closeness, and her nerves snapped the stick of pocky long before they had reached the middle. Natalia blushed and looked away, mumbling a small “S-sorry....” before fumbling with the box to try and grab another stick, only to discover they had already depleted the box of it's contents.
Natalia blinked in surprise, holding the box upside down just to make sure, but it was indeed empty. "Wow.... Those went.... Fast." She commented with a light chuckle. Instinctively, she swung her legs off the side of the bed to stand and go get some more pocky from Aiden's bag, but sharp shooting pains up her leg reminded her that she couldn't do that yet. Natalia grimaced in pain, exhaling slowly before pulling herself carefully back onto the bed. "R-right.... C-can't do that...." Natalia said tensely, laying herself down slowly and taking deep breaths. "If they let me out tomorrow and I'm still feeling pain like this, we're getting me some pain pills." Natalia said somewhat sarcastically, though she was dead serious. Not that Natalia loved the idea of having more medication to keep track of, but it would be worth it if it meant being on her feet again.

✦ ✦Aiden felt an amused smile tug at his lips as Fey grinned in response to his comment about racing each other to Azalea. She remarked on his eagerness to take advantage of an ex-cripple and that she didn’t know he was so cruel, even though it was all in good humor as she was in hysterics as she giggled. The blonde-haired trainer soon found himself laughing along with her, even Thalia seemed amused by their banter as the Sylveon smiled a bit wider than she usually did. The rain outside had stopped for now, even though the stormy atmosphere still lingered, but already everything felt so much better inside the room. In spite of the fact that he had spent so much on plushies and candy, this Valentine’s Day had turned out a lot better than he had expected. However, the conversation took a slight dip into melancholic territory as the subject of the Five Island tradition of the Anniversary of Amity was brought up again. Aiden found himself struggling to explain the exact reason why the festival wouldn’t be celebrated again for a long while, not sure of how he could word it in a way that would give her a general idea of it without having to go into details that he would prefer to not mention. Talking about the disappearance of Five Island’s citizens and his parents was never easy… Even though it had happened a good long while ago, the horrors of that day were still fresh in Aiden’s mind as if it had happened just yesterday… He eventually managed to get out that everyone on Five Island had been taken away, and refused to go into any further detail afterwards. Thankfully Fey didn’t push it, answer simply in a surprised and saddened tone. Aiden gave her a soft, sad smile in return, nodding in thanks. He really did appreciate how considerate she was, especially when it came to talking about topics that he would prefer to avoid. Nonetheless, the subject was quickly changed as Aiden suggested playing the Pocky game, and had managed to do one round so far and almost ended up kissing each other because of it. Fey ended up jerking back in surprise and snapping the stick before it could escalate further, and Aiden was just as flustered as she was. He looked down in an attempt to hide his blush, taking deep breaths to keep himself relaxed even as his heart was racing. Goodness… was this how couples usually felt when they played this game? All things considered, he felt bad for even suggesting that they play this game in the first place, and he wouldn’t blame Fey at all if she wanted to stop right now. However, he noticed her reaching and pulling out another stick of Pocky from out of the box, a surprised look crossing his face as she held the new stick up to her mouth. She seemed hesitant, however, and Aiden was quick to offer that it was okay for her to tell him if she wasn’t comfortable with doing this and that he’d understand completely if she wanted to stop right now. She smiled and nodded in appreciation, but otherwise said nothing as she put one end of the new Pocky into her mouth. Aiden found himself staring intently at the cookie, as if mulling over if he should give in to temptation or not. Temptation won out, and he leaned in closely to grab the other end as the game started up again. He tried to tell himself over and over again that this was quite innocent for the most part, just two good friends playing a game, right? However, as their lips once again neared each other, Aiden couldn’t help but wonder how much closer they would be able to get. However, Fey ended up snapping off her end of the Pocky before they could even reach the center. Aiden felt a bit disappointed that the round had ended like that, though he gave a small smile as Fey looked away and mumbled an apology to him. He supposed that he couldn’t blame her for being nervous, especially considering how close they had come to actually kissing the last time. She reached once more for the box of Pocky to grab another stick, only to find that it was completely empty. Seeming surprised, she even tilted the box upside down as if making sure that it was actually empty, in which case it was. Aiden chuckled softly as she commented on how fast the Pocky had gone. ” Well, I guess it didn’t help that we had pretty much eaten a good portion of them ourselves before the game even started~” he added with a small smile, ” Guess it’s time for a new box~” They had plenty of Pocky left to spare as far as he was concerned, even though he was certain that they would end up returning the majority of it by the time the day was over. Not that he was particularly adverse to the idea of it, as much of a Pocky-lover as he was, he was certain that they didn’t necessarily need a lifetime’s worth of the stuff right now. He noticed Fey moving to swing her legs over the bedside to retrieve another box from the bag, and opened his mouth to try to remind her that she couldn’t do that just yet. However, she soon figured it out, he could hear her exhale slowly before she retreated back onto the bed and rested herself back into her laying position. Aiden nodded slowly as she seemed to get the memo that she couldn’t stand on her own just yet, giving her a warm smile as he edged himself towards the end of the bed. ” I’ll get it, no worries~” he assured, lifting himself up off the bed, taking a moment to stretch his limbs out a bit before moving towards the bag of candy that he realized had been on the floor this whole time. Picking up the bag, Aiden brought it over towards the bed with him, listening to Fey’s statement about possibly needing pain pills if they let her out tomorrow and she was still feeling a great amount of pain in her injured leg. ” Yeah… We’ll ask Nurse Joy for painkillers if you’re still experiencing some major sores in that leg tomorrow, or maybe Aria can snag some for us on our way out,” he suggested with a nod and a small smile, ” I’m hoping it’ll be healed enough to at least be past the soreness and aches by the time tomorrow comes, but we’ll definitely keep the painkillers in mind just in case.” Reaching into the bag, Aiden scoured among the many boxes within for another package of the strawberry cream ones, since he knew he had at least bought a couple of those along with the several other flavors he had gotten. It didn’t take more than a minute or two of searching until he found another one, pulling it out and gently setting the bag on the nightstand next to the bed for easier access. Carefully opening up the package, he pulled out a fresh stick of Pocky and held it up towards his mouth. He gazed towards the Pocky in his hand for a moment, then to Fey. It was only fair that he give her time to think over it and place any possible objections she may have had before they went any further with this. ” Well, you know what they always say, third time’s the charm, right?” he asked with a chuckle, placing one end of the stick into his mouth and holding it out to her.✦ ✦

Upon discovering that their box of pocky was in need of a refill, Natalia chuckled as Aiden pointed out that they had started in on the pocky long before they had started to play the game, so that was likely why they had run out after only two rounds of the game. "Well, I mean, I knew that.... But still, seems a bit quick don't you think? Or maybe that's just kind of how pocky is..." Natalia mused, then attempted to go retrieve another box, only to be halted firmly with the pain that shot up her leg in protest. She gave Aiden a simpering smile as he insisted he'd get the pocky, since she very well couldn't get it apparently. It was hard, getting used to letting other people do everything for her. Natalia was admittedly a bit of a control freak and didn't like the idea of people doing mundane things for her, like getting something that was two feet away. However, normally Natalia was in better physical condition as well. She sighed, laying down and just forcing herself to deal with it; there were worse things after all.
Natalia mentioned getting painkillers before they left tomorrow, since she knew she wouldn't be able to stand this kind of pain walking around tomorrow. Aiden agreed, though he didn't have much reason to disagree, not yet anyways. Natalia couldn't help the fleeting thought that if Aiden knew who she really was, he might not be so inclined to get her those pain pills. She grimaced, a cold chill running up her spine, recalling how little Aiden actually knew about her. Nevertheless, he was perfectly happy to move the big bag of pocky onto the nightstand before grabbing another box of strawberry cream flavored pocky for them to use. Though, he seemed to hesitate briefly as he pulled out another stick, looking it over thoughtfully and casting occasional glances her way. She knew what that was for, her hesitation, her shyness, he wanted to give her a chance to stop now before things potentially got weird between them. Nataia was almost tempted to call it all off. Almost, but she didn't. Instead, Aiden suggested that the third time was the charm, and Natalia wondered what charm he was referring to. For not breaking the pocky before meeting fully in the middle? For kissing? The questions swirled around Natalia's head, but then Aiden stuck the pocky in his mouth and leaned closer, holding the other end out to her by hovering over her. Natalia stared up at Aiden with mild surprise and a tinge of pink touching her cheeks again. This was oddly romantic when it shouldn't have been, or at least Natalia didn't want it to be. Yet she took the other end of pocky in her mouth, still laying down, and began munching on it, Aiden's face drawing closer and closer with each bite.
Though it was almost exactly like the game had been the last two times, Natalia felt different. She didn't feel embarrassed or shy, there was a sort of intimacy there that made her feel calm and relaxed as Aiden came closer, and Natalia almost.... Wanted him to be near to her. The longing feeling only grew with each centimeter they gained on either side of the pocky. So close, so close and yet as their lips brushed once again, rather than feeling the want to kiss Aiden like she has expected, an inexplicable fear washed over her senses. She trembled, eyes closed from the initial anticipation, hanging there for a moment and wishing with all her heart that she could feel the love that she wanted to feel, but instead it all just felt wrong.
Natalia turned her head away to the side, biting the side of her cheek in frustration. "No more...." She said quietly, surprising even herself with the amount of tension in her tone, the sound of her voice pained and hoarse, threatening to crack but somehow barely holding on. "N-no more... I-I can't...." Arceus, it hurt to even breathe right now, like she'd just gotten the wind knocked out of her. Natalia's wide and frightened gaze fixated on the lamp nearby. Alarms and red flags were popping up all over her mind, telling her to get out, telling her to run, but she couldn't. She was trapped, or at least she felt that way, suffocating slowly under the weight of her emotional baggage. “I'm sorry....” She whispered. "I-it's not your fault, I just...." Natalia struggled to find the right words, but really, what was she supposed to say? There was really no good way of explaining the wall she kept putting between them both. Why did you have to fall for me.... I can't love you. I c-can't give you that.... Nor will I ever be able to.... No matter how much I wish I could.... Natalia thought sadly, wincing.

✦ ✦Not long after finishing their second round of the game, it seemed that they were in need of a new box of Pocky since their first box had run out rather quickly. Fey chuckled as Aiden suggested that they had eaten quite a bit of the cookies before the game had even started, which was likely the reason why they had run out so quickly. He smiled widely as she said that she knew that, but it was still a bit surprising that they had reached the end of that box so soon after they had just started it. He nodded at her suggestion that it was how Pocky tended to be. ” Yeah, it’s one of those kinds of snacks that can run out pretty quickly in a heartbeat once you start eating~” he agreed with a chuckle. He noticed her moving to stand up and retrieve some more from the bag, and was about to warn her that she likely couldn’t stand up herself just yet while her leg was still recovering. Seemed she had found out the hard way, and retreated back onto the bed as Aiden suggested that he would get it. As he got up from his position on the bed and went to retrieve the bags he realized he had left on the floor, Fey spoke up about getting pain pills before they left if she was going to expect her leg to be sore and painful still even after it recovered. Naturally, Aiden agreed with her, since he wouldn’t want her to have troubles with walking because her leg was still in pain. If she was still experiencing pain by the time tomorrow came around and they were preparing to head out for Azalea, he would make sure to ask Nurse Joy or Aria for painkillers before they left. Retrieving the bag, Aiden set it onto the nightstand next to the bed for easier access as he managed to find another package of the strawberry cream flavored cookies. He gladly cracked it open and pulled out a fresh stick for them, though hesitated as he glanced thoughtfully between the cookie and Fey. It was only fair that he give her a bit of time to think it over, so that she could say that she wanted to stop before they ended up going in too deep. He alternated his gaze between her and the stick for a few moments more, half-expecting her to object to starting a third round of this. When she said nothing otherwise, Aiden proceeded to one end of the stick in his mouth, suggesting that the third time was the charm as he leaned closer. He realized that their position might have looked rather… intimate, to anyone else who might’ve been watching, with Fey laying there on the bed and him leaning over her like this. Once again, he felt thankful that it was just the two of them, well… three of them, since Thalia was there too. The Sylveon was watching them curiously, but otherwise said nothing as she stayed put. Still, Aiden couldn’t help but blush a little at the thought, noticing the look of surprise on Fey’s face as she looked up at him with a pink tinge of her own coloring her cheeks. Nonetheless, she took the other end of the Pocky into her mouth and the two started eating towards the center again, the same old song and dance as the last couple of rounds. However, Aiden felt a bit more relaxed this time around, keeping his bright blue eyes focused ahead as Fey’s face drew closer and closer with each bite they took. He had told himself multiple times that he and Fey were just friends… and yet… he couldn’t help but feel that maybe there was something more than just mere friendship developing between them. It would certainly explain why he would blush and his insides would get all shuddery whenever they were in intimate proximity to each other. Hell, it would even explain why Nyomii and Aria were always trying so hard to push the both of them together, just like at the ball when he and Fey had danced together… He felt his heart racing once more as their lips brushed each other’s once again, feeling a sort of anticipation well up within him as he awaited the kiss. However, he felt that something was wrong when Fey suddenly started trembling, the girl finally turning her head away as she said ‘no more’ in a quiet voice. Aiden blinked slightly, a mixture of concern, shock, and disappointment overtaking his expression at the tension in her tone, but he slowly leaned back in his spot on the bed. She said she couldn’t, though it seemed difficult for her to speak as she kept her gaze off towards the side of the bed. Aiden didn’t say anything for a long minute or two, listening quietly as she apologized, saying that it wasn’t his fault and trying to explain herself. ” It’s alright, Fey,” he finally said, giving her a wan smile as he shifted himself over into a different position, ” If you want to stop, then we’ll stop… Like I said before, I understand completely if you didn’t want to continue…” He had given her time to think it over and voice her concerns before they had started the third round, and now he couldn’t help but feel bad that he had even suggested playing the Pocky game in the first place. Thalia gave a concerned look to them both, pressing closer to Fey and gently wrapping a feeler around one the girl’s hands.” Fey…”she said softly, her voice tinged with worry as she wrapped another feeler around one of the boy’s hands as well,” Aiden…”She had felt the tension and worry radiating off of them both after what had happened moments earlier, and she couldn’t help but wonder what exactly had happened. Aiden gave a small smile to Thalia, nodding in thanks as she attempted to try to help ease them, before looking to Fey. ” I...Is everything alright, Fey…?” he asked, his voice carrying notes of concern as he spoke, recalling how Fey had trembled and turned away from him just before they had actually kissed, ” I mean… You don’t have to explain anything if you don’t want to… I just…” A soft sigh left his lips as he found himself glancing down at his hands, placing his other hand gently on top of Thalia’s feeler and lightly rubbing at it. ” Maybe I shouldn’t have suggested the Pocky game in the first place… but… it had just seemed like a good idea then… I’m sorry…” he said softly, feeling more disappointed in himself than anything for even suggesting it in the first place. He had gotten the sense that doing so was pushing the envelope a little too much, but still…✦ ✦

Natalia couldn't help but catch the look on Aiden's face as she practically begged to end the game. She felt awful, knowing how much her request hurt him. Even if he insisted that it was okay, she knew he was just trying to make her feel better and hide his own heartbreak; he wasn't hiding it very well... Natalia remained quiet for a moment, mind racing, wondering how she could ease the situation, but the burden of knowledge that she bore was far too heavy. She couldn't continue to just pretend like this, pretend to be someone that she wasn't. Even her longest missions came to an end at some point, there would be a time where she no longer had to pretend, but that wouldn't happen here. She couldn't tell him the truth, it would kill him, and it wasn't like he would just let her go without knowing, but that was rather.... Counterproductive. A light touch at her hand snapped Natalia's thoughts back to the present, noticing that Thalia had wrapped a feeler around her hand. Natalia gently ran her thumb over the silky fur, but she did not give the Sylveon a smile of reassurance that she wanted to give. Not even Thalia's touch could ease her troubled mind now.
Aiden asked if she was alright, or rather, asked Fey is she was alright. She was starting to loathe that name... Aiden then retreated somewhat however, not wanting her to explain if she didn't want to, but..... His voice trailed off into a sigh of frustration before lamenting having even brought up the idea of the pocky game and apologizing. "N-no, it was a good idea...." Natalia insisted, albeit weakly. Admittedly she was just stalling so she could think over how to answer his first question. She battled with herself for a few rather excruciating minutes before finally turning to face him and scooting closer, sidling up to him and closing her eyes. "This... Isn't as simple as it might seem.... Nothing in my life is simple really." She chuckled half heartedly. "I know that you-- I mean, I'm not someone you should...." Her tongue felt thick and heavy, making it hard to talk, but it wasn't like she could really say anything anyways. “I'm sorry.... Ugh I'm so sorry.... This is all my fault, I shouldn't have--!” She grimaced, tensing and then forcing herself to relax. "T-time.... Just give me some time to.... Adjust." Natalia attempted to take deeper breaths than the shallow ones she was taking now.

Natalia pulled Aiden into a hug and buried her face in his chest, whispering inaudible words that she wanted to say but didn't want him to actually hear. Don't go, just stay with me.... ✦ ✦Aiden felt overcome with a mixture of strong emotions as Fey essentially begged him that they stop playing the Pocky game. Sorrow, guilt, disappointment, shock… it was all just swirling around in his mind like a maelstrom, reckless and without abandon. He tried to hide his heartbroken feelings as he insisted to Fey that it was okay, that he understood completely her want to discontinue the game. It was probably still obvious though… in the way that he spoke, in the way he seemed to slump dejectedly onto the bed as he set the still very full box of Pocky aside. He felt like he had done something very wrong, felt like an idiot for even suggesting something like that in the first place… He knew that he had been pushing those slowly dwindling boundaries the moment he had brought up the game, and yet… Once again he had fallen victim to his curiosity, trying to test out if the feelings for he that he had suspected having were indeed true. He had given her a chance before they’d done it the third time to object to it, and even then he felt that it would’ve been for the best that they’d have stopped while they were ahead. Dammit… Arceus dammit… For a moment or two, neither of the two said anything as Aiden let himself stew in his own disappointment and guilt. Feeling a light, gentle touch at his hand, he looked up to see Thalia had wrapped one of her feelers around it, the Sylveon attempting to comfort him and Fey even though she looked quite confused as to what was going on. Still, Thalia could sense the tension in the air, and wanted to try to help remedy the situation as best she could. Aiden gave her a weak smile, gently rubbing the silky surface between his fingers even though the Sylveon’s calming aura did little to ease his mind as it were. Finally breaking the ice, Aiden spoke up as he asked Fey if she was alright, considering asking what exactly had happened back there. Not wanting to be invasive or anything, he backed off, saying that she didn’t have to explain anything if she didn’t want to, but… He was clearly struggling with his words as he tried to find the right things to say, before trailing off with a sigh of frustration and disappointment. He apologized for even suggesting playing the Pocky game to begin with, feeling that if he’d known that it would lead to this, he wouldn’t have gone through with it to begin with. Fey insisted that it had been a good idea, albeit rather weakly… Aiden gave her a wan smile, but said nothing, feeling that she was only saying so to try to make him feel better or to ease the tension. Nonetheless, he appreciated the effort as a few more minutes of silence passed between them as he gently rested his other hand on top of Thalia’s feeler, gently rubbing it between his palms. He looked up as Fey turned to face him, scooting closer to him until she was able to lean on his shoulder. She spoke up once more, saying that this wasn’t as simple as it seemed, that nothing was ever simple in her life as she gave a half-hearted chuckle. Aiden listened quietly as Fey tried to explain herself, tripping over her words as she seemed unable to tell him what she wanted to. She grimaced, saying that she was sorry and that it was all her fault, the girl growing tenser with each word she spoke. A worried look crossed Aiden’s face at that, though she took deep breaths to try to relax herself, telling him that she needed time to adjust. Aiden seemed confused, but he felt that somehow Fey was trying to tell him that she wasn’t the kind of person he should fall in love with. But how couldn’t he? Ever since the events at the ball, he had started to get the sense that perhaps he had started thinking of the relationship between him and Fey as more than just simple friendship… Even still, it would explain why she kept pushing him away… Perhaps she didn’t feel the same way about him as he did her, and he supposed that he couldn’t blame her at all. Still, the fact that she said she needed time to adjust… maybe there was still a chance… Aiden felt selfish for even thinking of things like that, but… The blonde-haired boy blinked in slight surprise when Fey pulled him into a hug, her face buried into his chest as he felt the wetness of tears on his shirt. The surprise melted away into sympathy moments later, and Aiden wrapped his arms around her to return the embrace as she trembled and pressed herself closer to him, weeping quietly. ” You can have all the time you need, Fey…” he said softly, leaning his head onto her shoulder, ” No one’s trying to rush you… There’s no need to worry over any due dates or anything… Take all of the time you need…” He didn’t want to force her into territory that they hadn’t even begun to explore, he would never guilt-trip her into doing what she didn’t want to do… ” In fact, I think both of us need time to adjust…” he added quietly, reaching a hand up and gently running his fingers through her hair in an attempt to comfort her. He just couldn’t stand it, feeling her shivering in his arms like a leaf in a hurricane… the wetness of her tears as they stained his shirt… ” It’ll be alright…” Aiden soothed as he held her close, unsure of what else he could do to help her feel better… However, a thought crossed his mind at that. ” How about this… would it help you feel better if I maybe… played a song for you?” he asked, remembering that he always had the ocarina he carried with him in his bag. Music had always been a go-to remedy for him whenever he was feeling miserable or frustrated… Maybe some music would help to ease their troubled minds, if Fey wished him to play for her.✦ ✦

There was some relief in Aiden's reassurances, false relief, but still relief. At least he didn't want to rush her into.... Whatever this was going to be. Natalia wasn't sure. Love? Natalia doubted it, Aiden might have been falling for Fey, but he had yet to learn that Fey Marquee was a non entity, so it wasn't real love, at least not in Natalia's mind. She liked to pretend at times, like when they had danced at the ball, but those imaginary realities always came crashing down one way or another, like they had now with the Pocky Game.
Natalia felt Aiden lean his head on her shoulder, insisting that there weren't any due dates for something like this, that she could have all the time she needed. "Heh.... If only that were true...." Natalia couldn't stop the comment from slipping out, her own dismal pessimistic attitude shining through. But she was right, there was more of a time limit than he knew, two actually. It was only a matter of time before she told him who she really was, or worse, he found out through another means. As much as Natalia wanted him not to find out from anyone other than herself, she was afraid of telling him, afraid to lose him. Not only that, but her lifeline was limited as well, or rather, she only had so much medication to keep her sane for only a number of days. She didn't have time. Time was her enemy, a limiting factor in this horrible complicated equation of her life. Arceus now she was sounding like her father. Natalia grimaced at the thought.
Aiden soon admitted that they both needed time to adjust, and Natalia blinked in surprise. Was Aiden still trying to figure out his feeling s as well? Natalia felt torn, happy at the prospect that maybe he wasn't falling so hard for her, but also somewhat disappointed. It was an odd feeling. Natalia had never been forced to choose between what was best and what she actually wanted, generally they went hand in hand, but this was different. She knew she really liked Aiden, she wanted to stay with him and be friends, maybe even something more, but her rational side said it was a bad idea, since he still didn't know what he would be getting into with a relationship with her. It was dangerous, it would be fruitless, it would only end in heartbreak, and yet Natalia still wanted to spend more time with him. It was selfish, it was stupid and horrible to do to Aiden. Natalia knew she wasn't the greatest person in the world and she would be selfish like this, she just wished it didn't involve Aiden.
Natalia froze as he touched her hair, gently running his fingers through it, her thoughts halting abruptly. She wasn't adverse to the touch, but her guard was up, fighting the feeling of comfort he gave and attempting to reject it. However, slowly but surely, her wall came down and Natalia let herself relax in Aiden's arms. He attempted to soothe her, murmuring that everything would be alright, and in her moment of weakness, she believed him. Natalia relaxed further.
They lay quietly for a moment, but soon Aiden offered to play a song for her. Natalia considered it, then nodded. "Y-yes.... I think I'd like that...." She said softly. "How will you play though...?" She asked curiously. They didn't have any instruments in the room, unless maybe he had one with him, or planned to pull a song off of his ipod or something. Natalia didn't really care thought, she rather liked music.

October gulped as the door closed behind her team. Kiru just rushing through the door. Here she was inside the gym, still feeling a little nervous. Looking down she notice her pokemon where watching her expectantly, it eased her a bit. Normally, the trio would give her space and support her, this was the first time they had protested her decision. That must mean they were ready right? "guess there's no turning back now." She turned to her pokemon and returned all but Kiru ,who climbed onto her shoulder. She walked further into the gym her foot steps echoing. "Hello?" Her thoughts fell on how big this GYM was. She wondered if they all were this size. "I'd like to challenge the gym leader"
River ears flatten as she watched October disappear through the doors, the trainer was going to comeback right? Already she was starting to feel cold again, until Aria made it warm again. She moved to warm herself up and nodded to the cold question. Then Nyomii asked her if getting something to eat. Is it ok to leave? Her last trainer didn't like it if she went to far. ✦ ✦Aiden did his best to try to reassure her, wanting to try to be of comfort however he could. He wouldn’t dare to try to force her into something that she didn’t want to be involved in, even though he wasn’t entirely sure himself of what it was. Maybe it was love… Maybe it wasn’t… Aiden had kept trying to tell himself over and over again that he and Fey were just good friends, nothing more, nothing less. Then… why had it hurt so much when she had turned away from him earlier? Arceus… it felt as though he was just starting to figure things out, only to be turned around completely and sent back to square one… Maybe it was true that he had started developing feelings for Fey, that maybe he wanted their relationship to mean more than just friendship… Just like back at the ball, and even now when they had started playing the Pocky game together… Perhaps Aria and Nyomii had been onto something with how they were trying to push him and Fey closer together… Still, the fact that Fey had said she’d need time to adjust… Perhaps there was a chance for such things to happen between them. But Aiden wouldn’t force it… if their feelings between each other weren’t mutual, then he wouldn’t push it any further than that. He would be heartbroken and severely disappointed, yes, but he wanted what was best for Fey as well as for him. She deserved to be happy, after all, just like any one of his friends should. Gently leaning his head on Fey’s shoulder, he assured her that she could have all of the time she needed, that no one was trying to rush her or that there were any due dates to meet. She gave a hollow chuckle at that, commenting on how much she wished it was true. Aiden couldn’t help but grimace at her words, wondering what she meant by that. Aiden felt that he knew now for a fact that he really liked Fey, it would explain a lot of the things that had been going on as of late… Like how he had felt when their lips had touched for the briefest of moments, the dance they had shared at the ball… Even still, he figured that for the time being, it was for the best that they preserve their friendship as it was. It wasn’t that he was unsure about his feelings for Fey, he was more concerned about her first and foremost. Not that he could really blame her… they had not even met that long ago, all things considered outside of the strange time shift after the events at the ball… He would take his time and try to not push their boundaries too much… Just nurture the friendship they had between them, and maybe, just maybe… they could be something more sometime in the near future… But until then, they just needed time… Time would provide the answers soon enough, right? Sighing softly, Aiden gently stroked Fey’s hair with a light hand, felt her tense up at his touch. He half-expected her to slap his hand away or something, but she slowly started to relax as his fingers wove gentle patterns through her soft light brown locks. He murmured that everything would be alright in an attempt to soothe her, a small smile crossing his face as she relaxed further into his arms. For a good long moment, they sat there in silence, holding onto each other, not a sound in the air apart from their breathing as they lay next to one another. Finally breaking the ice, Aiden then asked if it would help Fey to feel better if he played a song for her. Music had always helped him in his times of sorrow and trouble, and anything that would dispel the tense atmosphere was more than welcome. He would be more than happy to play a melody for Fey on his ocarina, if she wished to, that was. Silence for a moment as Fey considered the offer, before she said that she believed she would like that as she nodded in response. When she asked him how he would play it, Aiden gave a soft smile in return. ” I believe I have an idea…” he said with a nod, ” Excuse me for a moment.” He carefully disengaged himself from Fey, albeit reluctantly, and reached over for his pack that he had set down on the nearby nightstand. Grabbing hold of it, he sat up slightly as he opened the bag and rummaged through it, knowing that his ocarina was in there somewhere. His eyes lit up as his fingers brushed against the familiar smooth material, and his hand reemerged clutching a rather thick-looking instrument the color of cherry-wood with several holes along its edges and a large mouthpiece set off to one side. It had been a long while since he had last played this instrument, but he felt that now was as good a time as any. Replacing his pack on the nightstand again, Aiden reclaimed his position next to Fey, giving her a soft smile as he presented the ocarina to her. ” Go ahead and make yourself comfortable, I’ll start when you’re ready,” he offered gently with a nod, shifting himself so that he could sit up straight and be able to use both hands to play the instrument. With October now inside the Gym and River in their care, Aria turned her attention to the little Riolu that had been left with her and Nyomii as the Espeon pressed a bit closer to her to provide some warmth. She could sense the uncertainty radiating off of the Riolu as she watched her trainer disappear into the building, and gave River a reassuring smile.” She’ll come back for you, dearie, I know she will~”she soothed gently, bending down slightly towards the child Pokemon,” October would never leave anyone behind, you’re just as much a part of her little family as any of her other Pokemon are~ Trust me, sweetie, Mimi and I will take good care of you until she gets back~”Not wanting the little Riolu to catch a cold, Aria helped to warm her up by pulling out the stick from her tail, the friction causing the end to ignite as a small fire erupted. She carefully held it out towards River, allowing her to warm herself up as she looked skywards. Nyomii agreed with the Delphox’s suggestion that they head indoors, preferably before the rain might start back up again, and proposed that they go back to the Pokemon Center and get something to eat. Aria’s eyes lit up at the idea, a warm smile crossing her foxy face.” I couldn’t agree more, Mimi~ Food sounds absolutely wonderful at this point,”she agreed cheerfully with a nod, glancing towards River as Nyomii asked if some warm milk sounded good to her. River seemed a bit unsure about them going back to the Center, wondering if it was alright to leave while her trainer was currently preoccupied.” It will be fine, sweetie, you have nothing to worry about as long as you’re with Mimi and I,”Aria assured with a warm smile, nodding towards the Gym,” I’m sure that October will know just where to find us once she’s finished up in there, the Center isn’t that far away from here~”She listened as River said that her last trainer wouldn’t allow her to have any milk, causing the Delphox to frown.” Well, clearly he doesn’t know what’s best for children. Either way, what he says about what you can and can’t have is no longer relevant here, not if I have anything to say about it,”she said, sighing softly as she gave River a small smile,” I’m sure October would want you to grow strong and healthy, and milk is perfect for a growing girl like you. So you’re more than welcome to drink it to your heart’s content while you’re with us~”Aria swore to Arceus, she was definitely going to give ‘Septy’ a good piece of her mind if she were to ever encounter him. He certainly had it coming after all that he’d done to poor little River here. Smiling gently, the Delphox offered a hand to the Riolu, the umbrella slung around her other arm just in case.” If anything, we should at least head back to the Center so that we’re not standing out in the cold, we wouldn’t want for you to get sick or anything now, would we dearie?”she said softly, knowing that if anything, they should at least get indoors so that they wouldn’t be standing out in the cold and possible rain the entire time.✦ ✦

As October walked into the dark and seemingly empty gym, her footsteps continued to echo on the concrete floor until they walked over a small wooden square. The moment she and her pokemon walked over it and she asked to challenge the gym leader, a soft ticking noise sounded out, like the sound of a spring winding tightly... Before the girl could react, she was shot up skywards on the wooden platform until she reached the real battlefield of glass paneling and a bird's eye view of the rest of the gym. "Your challenge has been accepted." A blue haired man stood on the glass across the way and brushed some of the bangs out of his face. "I am Falkner. Please, come out onto the glass. Do not be afraid, it is thoroughly reinforced; It will not break. My father and I designed this gym to represent the wonder of bird pokemon, in his name, I will show you their grace and beauty with this gym battle!" Falkner gave a light whistle, and a Pidgey flew to his side. He had his chosen pokemon, now he just awaited for October to choose hers.
Natalia reluctantly let Aiden go as he let her go, claiming to have an idea as to how he would play for her. She shifted and sat up, looking over the side of the bed where he reached with some curiosity. He pulled up his bag and opened it up, seeming to be searching for something. While he looked, Natalia scooped Thalia up and set the Sylveon on her lap, gently petting he fairy type's fur as she watched Aiden pull out a flute like instrument; an Ocarina if she wasn't mistaken.
Natalia couldn't help but notice the gleam of recognition in Aiden's eye as he pulled out the instrument, as if he was seeing a friend that he hadn't seen in ages and missed dearly, the longing clear in his fingers as they ran over the smooth cherry wood. Something stirred in Natalia, wondering if there would ever be a day when he would look at her or touch her the way he did the Ocarina, with love and fond memories, like he missed her dearly even if they'd only been apart for a day or so. It was an odd feeling, not to mention an odd thought. Ridiculous in retrospect, wanting to be treated like an ocarina. Goodness, I really am insane aren't I...? Natalia thought bitterly, looking to Aiden as he reclaimed his position next to her and showed off the instrument. She gave a soft tired smile and nodded as he asked her to make herself comfortable. Cradling Thalia closer and shifting a few plushies around, Natalia leaned against Aiden a little. "Okay.... I'm ready." She said softly, waiting curiously to see what he would play.
Nyomii could sense River's worry as October disappeared into the gym, nodding as Aria insisted October would be back. "She's right dearie~ We're psychic, we would know. She's just going in to battle the gym leader and she'll be done and back before you know it." Nyomii reassured along with Aria. The Espeon then suggested they head to the pokemon center to get some food, surely the little Riolu was hungry, Nyomii certainly was, and it seemed Aria agreed with her, as per usual. The Espeon giggled a little at how agreeable they both were towards each other, it was like they were the same pokemon in two bodies. River seemed uncertain at the suggestion of straying too far, thoughts flickering across her mind saying that her previous trainer go mad when she strayed too far. "Don't worry sweetie, October entrusted you to us, meaning she trusts our judgement and that we'll take care of you no matter where we go~ It's perfectly fine." Nyomii insisted, trying not to think about that nasty brother of Octobers, but when River said that Septy hadn't allowed her to drink any milk, Nyomii turned her telepathy strictly to Aria. "Aria, you're a pokemon with a history of magic right? Know any hexes or jinxes we could put on "Septy?" " The Espeon asked nonchalantly, seeming like she could be joking but with an air of seriousness to her telepathic tone and a hint of murderous intent. She despised this Septy character already and she hadn't even met him yet, that was a first for the Espeon. Nyomii broadened her telepathy so that once again River could hear her. "Yes, at the very least you should get out of this weather. If you don't want to have any milk we won't force you dear, but you should know that you are more than welcome to have some if you're hungry while you're with us~" Nyomii insisted sweetly, giving River a gentle ushering nudge with her muzzle towards the Pokemon center. "Come come, spit spot~ Let's get you out of this cold."

✦ ✦Aiden reluctantly released his hold on Fey, not wanting to let her go, but how else was he going to retrieve his ocarina otherwise? Shifting himself as he sat up, he reached over to grab his pack from the nightstand and rummaged through it in search of the instrument. He could hear the creaking of the bed, the soft rustling of covers being shifted as Fey sat up as well. Thalia watched her trainer search his bag with curiosity, her attention snapping briefly towards Fey as she felt the girl scoop her up and place her in her lap. The Sylveon gave a soft smile as Fey stroked her fur, leaning gently against the girl and nuzzling her in return. Moments later, Aiden pulled out a rather odd-looking instrument that looked rather thick for its type, with multiple holes along its surface and a large mouthpiece affixed to one end. Thalia blinked in surprise and interest, not quite sure of what it was, even though she knew it was some kind of musical instrument. Aiden felt a warm smile creep across his lips as he held the ocarina, not quite remembering the last time he had played it. Hopefully he hadn’t gotten rusty in the meantime… but he would gladly do what he could to help comfort Fey even at the cost of making an absolute fool out of himself. His fingers ran lightly over the familiar material of the instrument, almost as if he was greeting an old friend that he was seeing now after so long. It had been quite a while… and now seemed to be as good a time as any for a little music. Setting his pack back down on the nightstand, he returned back to his previous position next to Fey, seating himself in a way so that he could have both hands free to play as he presented the instrument to her. Fey gave him a soft, weary smile in return, nodding as he suggested that she make herself comfortable before he started. The blonde-haired boy waited patiently, smiling softly as he watched Fey cuddle Thalia closer to her, moving a few of the plushies around before leaning against him. He dipped his head as she told him she was ready, he adjusted the position of the ocarina in his hands as he held it up to his mouth, being mindful to not disturb Fey since she was leaning on him. Once it was in position, Aiden leaned his head down just slightly to reach the mouthpiece, and began to play. While the large, thick-looking cherry wood colored ocarina looked like a rather unwieldy instrument by itself, Aiden played it with expert precision and grace, his fingers never missing a beat as they danced over the various holes. Soothing, bass-toned notes emanated from the ocarina as he blew into the mouthpiece, the blonde occasionally taking soft, gentle breaths whenever he hit a resting point before continuing on. Thalia’s bright blue eyes closed as she felt herself being drawn into the melody, the Sylveon pressing closer to Fey as she cuddled with her. Something about this music… reminded her of home, back when she used to live within the Pokemon Village back in Kalos… Her old friends… how they would run around and play with one another within the flower-filled meadows, the rush of the river as they ran along its banks with the cool wind in their faces, how… happy everyone was together… Aiden’s gaze never strayed from Fey as he played, having no need to look at where his fingers were moving on the instrument. He remembered back when he was younger, he would often sit down near the door that led into his mother’s music room, just leaning against the wall with his eyes closed as he listened to her play on her piano. He remembered that this particular song was one that she would play quite often among her repertoire of harmonies, and when he had started teaching himself to play the ocarina in his isolation, he had put much time and heart into being able to play the tune based primarily on his memories… He knew the melody by heart, and every time he played it, it felt like he was back in his home again, quietly listening to his mother’s piano with a wide smile on his face, his imagination running wild… Aiden never missed a note or even tripped up on his fingering while he played, even as he hit the slightly higher notes as the song was coming to a close. He held the last note for a good several seconds as it finished, before slowly lowering the ocarina. ” Feel any better…?” he asked softly as he looked towards Fey with a small smile, hoping that the music had helped to soothe her, at least a little. Aria gave a warm smile as Nyomii pitched in her own words to reassure River that October would be back for her. The Espeon said that herself and the Delphox would know, because they were psychic. October was just going to battle Falkner, and she'd be done with the battle and coming back to rejoin them before they knew it. Aria knew that the girl would do splendidly in her Gym battle, and that she certainly had an ace up her sleeve in the form of Kiru. The little Pichu would sweep the floor with both of Falkner's Flying-types if October gave him a chance and put her faith into him, Aria knew in her heart that the little guy could pull it off. At the suggestion of getting food at the Pokemon Center, Aria was all too glad to pitch in her agreement. She had meant to retrieve some of those candies from Aiden's Valentine's Day shopping to give to Nyomii, but she figured that she would forego it for now for the sake of giving Fey and Aiden some privacy. Surely River was hungry as well, Arceus knows how long it had been since the little dear was last fed... She cracked a cheeky grin as she heard Nyomii giggling, clearly noticing how agreeable between each other they both were. Even if they hadn't been childhood friends or anything of the sort, Aria had quickly grown deeply fond of her Espeon companion. They were both Psychic-types, they both usually agreed on each other's suggestions, and the way they worked together made them like a sort of dynamic duo. Aria just didn't know what she would do without Nyomii, it was as if the both of them had been two peas in a pod since day one. She noticed River's uncertainty about straying too far, the Delphox picking up on flitting thoughts about how 'Septy' got angry with her whenever she wandered off. Aria assured her that she had nothing to worry about as long as she stayed with them, and that October would know exactly where to find them once she was finished with her Gym battle. She nodded in agreement as Nyomii pitched in, insisting that October had entrusted them specifically with River's care, that she trusted their judgment and that they would take care of her no matter where they went. At River's mentioning that 'Septy' wouldn't allow her to drink milk anymore, Aria's smile faded away into a frown as she insisted that whatever 'rules' October's brother had set when the Riolu had been with him were not relevant here. Not giving milk to a young two-month old infant Pokemon who clearly needed it to grow strong and healthy... the nerve of that boy! If Aria didn't have the amount of self-restraint over her anger as she did, she would've snapped her own stick in rage over such nonsense. Taking a breath, the Delphox sighed softly, listening as Nyomii asked her if she was a Pokemon with a history of magic and if she knew any hexes or jinxes they could put on 'Septy'. Aria chuckled a bit at the dark humor, even though she could detect the seriousness of the Espeon's message, as well as the ever-so-slight hint of murderous intent." Indeed I do, Mimi, my kind aren't called Delphoxes for nothing, after all,"the Delphox responded casually, narrowing her telepathy channel to just Nyomii, it would be for the best if River didn't hear any of this. Still, she gave a soft smile to the Espeon and nodded slightly." I'm just as upset at him as you are, Mimi, but I assure you that he'll get what's coming to him... For now, let us devote our mental capacities to being role models and parental figures, try to help repair the damage that he's done to our little River..."she assured gently, winking towards the Espeon," We'll deal with 'Septy' soon enough, I promise you that."With that said, she broadened her telepathy channel once again to speak with both River and Nyomii, the Espeon agreeing that they should get out of this awful weather. They wouldn't force River to drink any milk if she didn't want to, but they let her know that she would be more than welcome to it if she was hungry while she was with them. Aria smiled warmly as the Espeon gently nudged River to come along with them towards the Center, the Delphox shifting the umbrella she'd brought to one hand and carefully opening it up." I promise you that you'll have nothing to worry about as long as you're with us, sweetie, now come along~"Aria coaxed gently with a smile, holding the umbrella so that it would be able to cover all three of them," The rain could come back at any moment, it would be ideal for us to be safe and warm inside the Center before it begins pouring down buckets again."Of course, it wasn't raining right now, but Aria was taking precautions so that they would have some protection if it did start up again before they could get inside. It was better to have and not need than to need and not have, after all.✦ ✦

"what's that nooooiiissah!" October screamed as they were shot up on the platform. She managed to hold Kiru close with one arm. The wind rushed past them before they finally stop, wow this was really high up. She looked down at the ground through the glass. Kiru watched with the same awe from her shoulder, he wasn't shaken from the height . A voice accepting her challenge caused her to look up. The gym leader stood across from her on the glass. Was this really safe? She rubbed the pichu's head took a breath and walked onto the glass. "My names October.It's a nice view." She nodded to Kiru. The pichu jumped of her shoulder and stepped forward. "Thank you for accepting our challenge. Ready Kiru." "chu!"
River still wasn't sure but the two eased some doubt. A nudge from Nyomii got her moving. "...o-ok milk sounds nice.." She stayed close to them almost like she wanted to cling to them.
