Frighting? Why would anyone find that slip of a mare frighting? Well, he knew why HE was afraid of her, but it was the same reason that jellyfish gave him the creeps. His curiosity finally got the better of him and he wormed his way through the reefs until he could peek out at her, trying to get a better look at her. He really hadn't paid too much attention to her appearance, other than to note that she was a stranger and female. "Why?"

Now Natasha looked him like he had grown a second head. "You....are joking, yes? That's a joke, right?" She knew her sense of humor wasn't all that polished, but she just couldn't understand it at all that this fellow was just looking at her and couldn't understand why some found her to be...well, a little frightening.

Joke? Maybe it was. Totchli had never learned how to make a joke before. He knew he didn't have much of a sense of humor. Oh, sure, things amused him, but his life was pretty bland, and he knew this. He avoided strangers that could hurt him, and barely ever saw his own familiar, let alone spoke to her. No, he didn't think it was a joke. He didn't see how it could be one... "I don't joke," he informed the mare, rather seriously. He inched a little further out of the reeds so that he was only half hidden.
Looking at her a bit closer... she was rather pretty, he decided. He was used to bright and flashy colors, but hers were more... sedate. Peaceful.

Natasha frowned in confusion, "I don't understand..." She pushed back one of her tentacles back from her face as she leaned forward a bit towards the reef and the stallion.

He frowned a bit, too puzzled to remember to shrink back from her. "What don't you understand? It all seems pretty obvious to me."

Natasha narrowed her eyes on the male before glancing sideways at her flyaway tentacle strands and smirking right before using one of her long tentacles to gently poke at the stallion.

Totchli gave a slightly undignified squeak, ducking further into his reefs when she moved closer to him. The caution didn't last long, however, as his curiosity, now fully awaken and refusing to be denied, forced him back out of his home and closer to her. He peered at the tentacles with open and unashamed interest. "Do all mares have such pretty manes?" he muttered, the thought meant for himself only. Unfortunately, living more or less alone for so long had left him with a habit of talking to himself. He didn't even realize he'd spoken aloud.

His comment made Natasha frown and press a tentacle to his forehead as if checking for a temperature. "Squishy, you found one that's touched in the head..." she called over to the jellyfish. "You really are an odd one, huh? I mean, it's ok - you should see the rest of my family. We're really all odd ones out that way."

Totchli crossed his eyes, trying to look up at his forehead where her tentacle was pressed. It felt weird, not quite rubbery, like the few times Velvet had brushed against him in her haste to hide, or soft like he remembered his mother's fins to be. It wasn't rough, either, like the reefs that he scrapped against when his sides itched. It was... kinda... sticky? No, that wasn't the right word. It felt like the tentacle had latched on and wasn't going to let go. That... probably shouldn't be comforting.
"I'm not odd," he muttered, again more to himself than to her. Then he thought about it and sighed. "Maybe I am... I don't have much to compare to, do I?" Then he blinked and realized just how close she was... and how pretty her eyes were, a pale green that was softer than the harsh, dark green of the seaweed that he was used to. "Too close!" He tried to duck back into his familiar reefs.

Natasha sighed and tilted her head at the stallion, "Oh come now, I thought we were past all that?" She followed him a bit into the reef, convinced he was no threat at all and honestly more than a little curious about the character, "You don't have to hid there, fella, I thought were having a nice...strange little conversation..."

“Go away!” he called at her. He was fairly certain they had covered this already, but he really didn’t care. She was too close, in so many ways. He stamped down his curiosity, locking it up in the box where it belonged. Nothing good came of getting to know others, no matter how interesting or pretty they seemed to be. She’d leave him. They always did. He knew this, he just needed to remember it. “Why won’t she go away?” he muttered to himself, burrowing deeper.

There it was again, her strange questions that made no sense! Why would her hair spook him? He shook his head slightly. Maybe if he told her, she'd leave. Once her curiosity was satisfied, she would go away, and he'd be left alone. Which was how he liked it. Right....
"You'll leave," he told her, forcing the words out, past a lump in his throat. This was ridiculous! He had known her only for a few minutes. He didn't care if she left. It would hurt him. At least, that was what he told himself.

"Well not right now I won't," she said casually flipping in the water. "What's got you so upset anyways?" she asked again. "It certainly can't be me," she grinned. "I am nothing less than a ray of sunshine around here....at least that's what Papa says....when I'm not worrying him too much."
