Vulpin watched in horror as Lunear's limp body was dragged away. ********, this wasn't good. One teen down, and the other one was damn near close. But there wasn't anything he could do! The best he could manage was to try and make it out of this thing in one piece.
He climbed onto Sly and started to run in circles, trying to catch the machine's attention. Not too far from Forera, but far enough to throw off the machine. It was a tricky machine, though, and the beams caught Sly when he was least expecting it. He fell over with a whine, Vulpin thrown with him. Sitting up, Vulpin shouted to Forera.
"Any progress?" His tone wasn't sarcastic, though it might have seemed that way with his shouting. He just wanted to get out of here soon. He wanted to get out of here alive.

Nope. ********, ********, ********! She needed to find the number, she NEEDED to-- not because she couldn't take it, but because she didn't want to hurt her... friends any longer. "DAMNIT!" She snarled in a rage, slamming her fists against the wall in anger. This was hopeless! HP: 7 hp

After Aprife left in search of their lost teammate, Zeffer whirled around, feeling a second wind overcome him as he shoved through the crowd. Despite the chaos, there seemed to be a sort of vague rhythm to the movements of the fight; trolls freshly injured would back off and be replaced by those who had caught their breath or who were less badly damaged. It was still a nerve-wracking situation and the blueblood wasn't sure how many had fallen or how long they had last. The only thing he could cling to was some hope of turning the horrible machine off.
A battle roar rattled from his throat as he charged the machine. Instead of trying to hit its shell, though, he jammed a baton up inside and rattled it around before being clipped by another laser. It wasn't such a strong hit, but it sent him staggering back again, hissing in pain.

"AKKO!!!" Zeffer hollered, trying to look around as he snaked his way through the crowd closest to the machine. She was a tough b***h, he knew, and probably wouldn't be lingering near the outside...or would she? After landing another solid smack to one of the cube's appendages (and receiving a zap in return), Zeffer finally backed off to let someone else take his place. He'd caught sight of some of the rebels fiddling desperately with the doors; perhaps the tealblood was doing the same.
"LEGS, WHERE THE ******** DID YOU GO??" He called out again, growling at the trolls around him as he was shoved about. He didn't know exactly how long Aprife had been gone, but it felt like an eternity. His entire front, shirt, pants, and all, was soaked with his cerulean blood, and he was pale and singed all over, but not ready to give up. It was better to stick together, after all, because there was no telling whether or not the military would show up.

All she could hear was ringing.
Eyelids fluttering open, the doubled image of the bunker looming above Byakko slowly came back into focus as the mutantblood staggered into consciousness. What the hell had even happened? She remembered crawling through the caverns under the desert with Aprife and Zeffer, slipping through the security levels with little resistance and then-
Oh.
The ringing in her auricular sponge clots had subsided, but Akko would have preferred the peaceful constant of tinnitus over the screams and chaotic gunfire that were now pounding at her head. It had been a trap- how could she have been so ******** stupid? They had been herded like woolbeasts to the slaughterhive. The signs had all been there, but she had pressed on anyway. Why? Was she now that desperate for victory? She had always been so careful, always been so meticulous in every aspect of her entire existence- especially when it came to reading her surroundings- to ensure her survival. Just like Trolldad had taught her. Why did she drop her guard?
Akko shakily propped herself up with her kanabō, gazing dizzily at the massacre that was playing out in the middle of the panelled room. Were those ******** energy beams? Something warm trickled down her forehead into her right eye, blurring her vision once again. Byakko absent mindedly rubbed at her face, smearing her mutant pink blood across her cheeks. Only after glancing down at the bloodied sleeve of her robe and smudged pools of blood at her feet did she realize the extent of her wounds. Then the pain came. Perhaps it was the blood loss or the looming hopelessness of the chaos before her, but Byakko just didn't ******** care anymore. She didn't have the luxury of being able to change clothes and wipe her blood away, or flee to the safety of one of the rebel strongholds. While admittedly no one had attention to spare at the moment, Akko's secret was out. This was happening, and it was all her ******** fault for lowering her shields. She did for a mere second, and now everything was crumbling around her.
Byakko collected herself just in time to witness a troll soaked in blue hued blood being pulled up into the bunker above. Her body froze, her pump biscuit lurched. The buzz that came with the capture echoed in her head. Zeffer? Was that ******** Zeffer? It happened so fast- she didn't get a good look. Just a vaguely Zeffer-sized, blue blood stained figure. Akko choked down a scream, gripping her weapon tighter. Her eyes were burning in a most unfamiliar way- were those tears? No. Any loss to the movement was worthy of grief, but this was no time to get emotional- she didn't get to have that luxury right now. Gritting her fangs, Akko narrowed her eyes on the bunker above, growling as she debated her method of attack.
Her normally on point reflexes still weren't quite back to norm. The bunker locked onto the rebel leader, sending a smart energy beam spinning directly at her. Byakko leapt out of the way, but regardless the beam still grazed her shoulder. She let out a primal hiss, heard a sizzling in her ear, followed by the putrid stench of burnt flesh. She had managed to chuck her weapon at the bunker before taking the hit, landing a lone (fairly useless) strike on the metal beast before her kanabō clattered to the floor beside her. This was it, wasn't it? She was going to die here, tonight.
Then a familiar voice cut through all the screaming, calling for 'Legs'. She never thought she'd be so grateful to hear that ******** stupid nickname. "ZEFFER!" Akko retrieved her weapon and trotted limply over in the general direction of his voice, intent on locating her comrade, worries about the colour of her blood seeping into her robe and dripping down her face forgotten amidst the chaos.

Zeffer's head whipped around so fast it was nearly enough to make him dizzy (though really that was probably just the blood loss). Hearing that familiar voice calling out his name made his blood pusher start to pound, and he shoved through the crowd to reach it, not caring whether or not he was inhibiting the rebel combatants. "LEGS, YOU CRAZY b***h!" He called out, relieved that she was even alive. It would come as no surprise if a few people had been trampled during the initial madness, a testament to the rebel's organizational skills, Zeffer thought wryly.
The sight of her head and horns made the blueblood struggle harder to get to where she was, but when he finally wrenched himself out of the thicker part of the crowd, he froze up, and his eyes widened in surprise. "Legs......." He nearly choked the name out, blood pusher skipping a beat as he saw her, and the color of the blood leaking from her fresh wounds. After a moment his face became several shades more pallid, and his stomach flipped. It was as if he were looking at a ghost. <********, Legs! ....********! <********>! Here...fast, we have to fix this, fast..." he babbled, fumbling in his pockets for another small roll of bandages. Panic seemed to grip him, affecting his movements as he removed the roll from his pocket.
For the first time since they had arrived, Zeffer felt the cold brush of fear down his spine. He would never have guessed her secret, not in a million sweeps, and now it was gushing out for the entire ******** world to see. Plus the cameras that were no doubt filming the entire fight. Her gay, idiot life was on the line, and thinking about it was like having a stomach full of lead. Their relationship had only just begun, after all, and with the looming threat of its sudden termination Zeffer regretted the fact that he'd taken it for granted. With every passing second, it was getting harder and harder to believe that they would all escape with their lives, and he couldn't deal with the thought of losing them, or with the idea of dying in a hole under the ground.
Of course, other thoughts had crossed his immature mind, like, wow, what a freaky ******** color. Zeffer was far beyond discriminating based on blood, but holy ********, what a color. There would be time to tease later, but for the moment he was focused solely on helping her conceal herself, and reuniting the team.
"Stay behind me, Legs. Aprife went looking for you too, he'll probably come back around sooner or later."

Forera dealt 0 damage. This was so annoying! She was having a kids lusus defend her just because she couldn't defend herself?! With a growl, she tried again, mashing numbers in randomly. Again, nothing. This was so freaking STUPID!"I won't die— you freaking take care of yourself, stupid!" She was getting really irritated with the lock— even more when she realized the lusus was also getting hit. She needed to keep trying! HP: 7 hp

Dammit. This was getting nowhere fast. He had to help her but he didn't want to leave Sly. Approaching Forera, Vulpin had a hard time keeping his eyes off his lusus, who seemed to be a different creature entirely. Blood dripping from his coat, snarling with his teeth gleaming, Sly was a terrifying creature to behold and Vulpin didn't like it one bit.

▌HP: 34/40 :: DMG: 1 ▌ Whimpering Skae watched the trolls below him dodge, strife and run from the bots that had trapped them. Taldad had tossed Skae onto his back the moment they'd realized just what was happening, and so far had managed to elude the lasers. He felt Taldad flinch under him and knew that he'd almost gotten tagged, but he didn't think the shot was from one of the bots. Friendly fire was almost worse than enemy fire. This wasn't a LARP game (or whatever that was) this was real life and he had no intentions of just- SKREEEEEEEEEEE! Taldad suddenly dove, wings tucked tightly to his side as he rawrbombed the largest bot in the room, talons flashing as they scraped across the metallic surface. His wings snapped open like some errant flasher flashing an uninterested murderbot, his muscles strained as he pumped them to gain altitude before the bot(s) could focus fire on them again. Only to let out a cry of pain as he flew straight into a pulse cannon beam. Taldad tumbled through the air, twisting as he tried to not land on top of Skae when he landed. The corvus kree'd as they hit the ground, skidding and bouncing before momentum finally let go, and let the pair shudder to a hault. Skae lay still, ears ringing from the fall for a few precious moments before he forced his hands to unclench from the harness (which his claws had punchered through), so that he could slide down to check on his dad. The feathers on his chest were smoking and the skin underneath was red, but thankfully he didn't seem to have been injured too badly. Taldad let out a soft click as he gathered his wits and rolled over, back onto his feet. One large wing herded him close and a curved beak fussily poked at him, trying to find out where he'd been hurt, if he'd been hurt. It took Skaes swatting hands and admonishment to remind the corvus that they were still in for the fight of their lives. He could baby him later.

Kimbley Kitty HP: 38/40 Vulpin was insulted. Scouring the premises was a cakewalk, and he was starting to believe that he was good at this thing, spying. But no, it was too easy for an entirely different reason. He should have seen the signs- he should have known it was all one big trap. But no, he got cocky, he got distracted, and he wasn't paying attention. And it wasn't his fault at all. It was Forera's. He wouldn't have been so distracted if it wasn't for her. He wanted to yell at her, but there wasn't any time for that, now that he was trying to not die. Hopping on Sly's back, Vulpin rushed for one of the exits. Evading the machine was an obstacle, but Sly was craftier than he looked. The two reached the door untouched, and Vulpin could breathe again. ok re-rolling this because i'm a silly that didn't read Sly took 3 DMG making his HP 14/40 Sly dealt 2 DMG.

▌HP: 32/40 :: DMG: 2 ▌ Skae watched closely as the other trolls fought the machine, trying in vain to spot a weakness of some sort to exploit. But nothing leapt to mind as they ducked around beams and other trolls. The scent of burnt feathers became stronger as Taldad took another hit for him, and with each passing second Skae felt more and more like this would be the end. They were gonna die and there was nothing a wiggler like him could do about it. Taldad hopped forward and battered at the closest lens with talon and wings before he was forced to retreat again.

"LEGS, YOU CRAZY b***h!"
The silhouette of Zeffer's barbed horns and signature mohawk bobbed into view as he barreled through the foggy confusion of battle towards Byakko. He was alive. She felt an overwhelming sense of relief as he gave one final shove and emerged from the thick of bodies, wildly searching for... for her. Their eyes connected, and for one fleeting moment, she felt hopeful about their current plight. He was soaked in his own blood, and he looked like ******** s**t, but he was okay. That brief moment came to a screeching halt when he froze, staring dumbfoundedly at her injuries- or rather, the hue of blood gushing from them. Only when she followed his gaze down to the bold pink soaking through her robe did the still woozy rebel fully connect the two together.
He's going to ******** kill me.
Akko could hear her pump biscuit pounding in her sponge clots as he approached her. She could barely make out the bass of Zeffer's voice over the panicked throbbing in her skull, but she did make out '********, legs, ********, ********'. A lump rose in her nutrient chute.
I should never have trusted you.
Zeffer reached for something at his waist- his batons? She didn't have the strength, or spirit, to fight him right now. She should have seen this coming, really- it was inevitable, wasn't it? The blueblood surely was going to cull her, as most did to mutants. Would he have stopped if he knew her position with the rebels? Would it have just angered him more?
Dad, am I going to die just how you did?
She flinched faintly as the blueblood rose his arm, shaky hand offering bandages. Wait- what? Akko slowly looked up to meet Zeffer's eyes, her own now equally widened in shock. He was... offering assistance? She realized he didn't believe in the caste system, yes, but in her experiences even some of those who claimed to believe in equality drew the line at natural abominations. It wasn't that she didn't trust him specifically, or the rebel's recruits... but if her father had taught her one thing, it was that no one was to be trusted with the secret of her blood outside of those who raised her. It wasn't that she believed there wasn't a soul in all of Alternia who would accept her, but rather the risk of trying to weed those out who would from those who wouldn't was too great. These were the many thoughts and questions swirling through her dizzied head as she was hastily (and rather shoddily) tidied up.
"T-thanks." Akko managed to finally choke something out, looking down as she tossed some soiled gauze to the floor. Was Trolldad wrong? Despite how pigbeastheaded he was, did Byakko Mawiya... have a genuine friend and ally? She glanced back up at Zeffer, her expression momentarily softening. She felt that unfamiliar sting in her eyes again, and they began tremble with light pink liquid. He knew. He knew and he was okay with it- if anything, he was trying to protect her. Akko blinked the tears away quickly, ducking her head in a vain attempt to hide whatever faint emotion she was displaying.
Clutching onto her weapon with just a little more morale, Byakko nodded in agreement. "Lets go find Aprife."

Unbeknownst to Akko until that last moment, their thought processes had been entirely different. Zeffer swallowed hard as he pressed the bandages into her palm, knowing that it most likely wouldn't be enough to fix what damage had already been done, and it certainly wouldn't be enough to cover her through the brutal fight. That was the scariest part, because as far as Zeffer could tell, they were damned either way. Everyone else was too preoccupied to care about a lone mutant in their midst, and if they weren't reduced to a smoldering heap of burnt flesh, there was bound to be someone who would try to pick a fight after the bunker was taken care of. His teeth were bared, by then, in a perpetual grimace, and his breathing was shallow and staggered as he nodded his response to her thanks. The revelation had him reeling still, a whirl of emotions filling his mind, with rage and fear at the forefront. Why did things have to turn out like this? Would he be attacked for defending her? He knew the answers wouldn't make any difference, but it was some crazy ********' luck they had, wasn't it? He banished the thoughts from his mind; he knew she had absolutely zero control over it, but she may as well have grown a second head. He knew his viewpoint was in the minority, even amongst rebels...but she was just Akko, wasn't she? Just Legs. It wouldn't have mattered if she were teal or anything else.
The pain of his wounds and the bloodloss were beginning to addle his thinkpan beyond momentary repair. He had to keep her alive now, and they needed to find Aprife, but even regular movements were becoming burdensome for him to carry out. "He's around here somewhere. I was just with him." He grunted, before beginning to move, trusting that she would be able to keep close. Aprife was a huge priority...but with time running out, one thought shone like a gross glowing sun inside his thinkpan: switch off the thing. The thing was the source of their pain, and it needed to be turned off fast, or they would all be dead. He struggled forward, intent on carrying out his plan, and believing fully that it was only a matter of time, or a matter of finding its weakness. Aprife would likely meet up with them along the way, being the clever b*****d that he was.
"Come ON!!!" He charged forward, letting the pain and the anger spur him forward. Instead of wailing his batons against the surface, he jammed them up into a crevice again, with the notion that it might help to ******** up the bunker's inner workings. It was a valiant effort that ended quickly, when one of the energy blasts grazed his head. Almost instantly he'd lost vision on one side, as the blood poured down his face in a sticky river, into his eye and down his chin. He lapped at it absently as he stumbled back into Byakko, screaming and snarling in pure frustration.
