Drops in an Ocean of Leaves

Iroia, Votzhem 183 Words
✹ ✹ ✹ ✹ ✹ ✹

He didn't want to move, but obviously they would have to eventually. They had prey to clean, and to transport, and there were other beasts about. But right now, this was the only hunt he was interested in, and it was concluded - he had been caught.

He was ready, now, to make more family for himself, to surround himself with blood ties that would anchor him when his tribe and his Mother were not enough.

(Not that the Goddess who bore him would ever fail him, but Votzhem appreciated redundancy, and you could never have enough love.)

He could not do it alone - his huntress, his ferocious predator of a wife, was his partner. They were a team. That was being restored - hunter and prey, hunter and packmate... both were partnerships. Both were intimate. Both fit them.

Obviously, her claws were metaphorical. Her fangs, metaphorical. Her hunt, spiritual. Her victory, sexual. But he was her prey, her partner, her lover, her husband, at her mercy and in love.

It was just like before.

Oh Goddess, it was just like before.

Neophyte or No-fight?

Iroia, Votzhem, Nuawahn
✹ ✹ ✹ ✹ ✹ ✹

Votzhem was sure that Nuawahn was some kind of spirit being. No one could be that weirdly bouyant. But, it appeared, that he was a good spirit, a benevolent entity.

He had done the right thing, letting him into his home. Even briefly, he had gained the favor of someone beyond his ken. That, Votzhem thought, was the only possible reason why he - a halfbreed, born of a flower from a goddess' own boughs - could have children born of a womb. Again.

He was terrified. He'd been scared before, with Arronthain and Volkarosh, but somehow he was more afraid now. Of spirits, of the idea that he was somehow blessed. By Aisha, or by something else.

Either way, he would not allow Iroia to be harmed by it.

Chapter 9:
Grave Expectations

Meta Response
✹ ✹ ✹ ✹ ✹ ✹

It wasn’t new. Nothing was exactly new. Danger befell the tribe, the hybrid had the bravery to speak up, the hybrid was ignored. The Hybrid, hybrids, who had fought every step of the way, had shed blood just for the honor to stand before their own mother and follow Her path. They were born from the same great Mother, brought forth from the same love that had inspired blossoms from the beginning of time. Yet, they had never had it easy, not like their Sisters. The halfblood, the partblood, the person who had fought for their birthright, who was, perhaps, more worthy of that path and their Mother’s love than any pureblood was…

But no. He could not think such dark things. He had to calm himself, to cast aside his feelings, and think rationally. Rationally, but aggressively. They, Sisters and Daughters of Aisha, needed to focus and to come together to defeat their foe. A show of family and strength, using the deep bond that they alone shared out of all the races of Tendaji, would surely lead them to victory. It would also send a message to the Earthling tribes that they were still potent, still forces to be reckoned with. It was the best path for the tribe.

It was the most logical, rational way to proceed for the daughters of Aisha… and Her sons. For now, he would quiet down and work to help his tribe, but his speech had been just the beginning. He was Alkidike. He was a warrior. He would not be silenced, and he would not give in to pressure and fear from his Sisters. He had fought for the right to speak, and he would speak until his mouth was forced shut… and they would find that a difficult task.

But for now, the tribe came first. And that meant, first, finding Kaalnia and any other Alkidike who had been late to the meeting or trapped abroad. Next… organized patrols (which could also scout out the Shifter’s lands, but he wasn’t exactly in a position to suggest something so martial and strategic), but that would be far harder.

But they had to plan, otherwise… otherwise they would fall. This was a threat that could crumble their sisterhood, and they needed to stand together. He hoped that they could.
