Keen sighed as she again picked up the luck dragon, silently saying sorry to it for ending its life so soon. Still this is where food comes from and even if she didn't want to do this, someone else would. Patiently she removed the head, feet and tail before starting the process of descaling and skinning. Everything seemed to be going well, perhaps she had made a few slips of the knife but so far so good. Then came gutting. How could she tell if she had actually removed them all? She may have left a few organs inside and even added them to the cubed meat but who would see right? Glancing around sheepishly she scooped all the meat into a bowl before tossing away the useless bits. Now to brown... er.. try to cook the meat. While the meat was cooking.. so far as she could tell, Keen headed over to go through the spices. Hmm, first touch, something kind of... squishy, it tasted okay and could make a lovely base for a dipping sauce! Score! Keen put that in a bowl and went back to get something else. Mold... ew.. lots of mold. Well that made up for her luck with the meats.. Now she had to work with the moldy stuff. Blue cheese... maybe that was what it was? It would have to do. She added it to the sauce base and sprinkled a bit on the meat. This would be like meat on a stick.. Kabob kind of. The sauce could be a lovely dip when put in a second bowl so they could add it themselves! Keen smiled and started plating her meal. Everything had been going great. Nice meat cuts, the sauce though funny tasting wasn't too bad. Now she just had to get it over to the judges for them to try it. Keen put the meat in the center of the plate and balanced the sauces to the side before heading over to hand out the food. Just as she started to show her pre-written cards stating what she had made, she felt something slide off the plate. Had she lost the sauce? Had part of the meat been still alive? How could she check? Eeep this was not normal! Keen grit her teeth and put down the plates pretending all was well. Hello My meal is Invisible Luck Dragon kabobs, with Blue cheese dipping sauce. Kari wasn't sure how to react to this challenge. On one hand, she wouldn't have to see the minis getting butchered this time around, but she also wouldn't be able to tell how accurate she was in her preparations. "Well, I said I would do my best and I've gotten this far already, so I can't be indecisive now", the ghoul murmured to herself, shaking off her nerves for the daunting task before her. Striding towards the table she reached her hand out for what would hopefully be her ingredient. Fluffy...That was her first impression when she set her hand down. As her hand traveled further, the fluffy texture continued endlessly. A tail? Wait... an extremely long, fluffy tail... was this a Boafox? Tucking the Bafox under her arm, Kari reached out for another minipet. This next one was covered in scales... she guessed it was some sort of reptile-type mini. What minis did she know that were reptilian? "Oh", she cried, her mouth making a small 'o' as the name popped into her head. "Now for the last one...", she mumbled, reaching her hand out one last time. More scales? But wait, there was fur on this one, as well... and wings...horns... "Oh... this one may be trouble", Kari groaned, a sinking feeling forming in her stomach if her hunch was correct. She had her ingredients, now she needed to prep her mini. Setting out the Boafox in front of her, she brandished the knife. It was a mess. For her, feeling alone simply wasn't enough to be able to carve her Boafox effectively. From the screeching the invisible mini continued to emit, Kari had clearly not ended the poor creature's life quickly. Tears welled up in her eyes as she tried to find a vital point to end its suffering. After a few minutes of butchering, her mini's cries finally fell silent. Whether it was from blood loss or hitting a vital spot, the silence did little to dry the tears streaming down Kari's face as she felt around the wet corpse to skin the brutalized Boafox . Wiping her eyes on her rolled sleeves, Kari carefully set aside the mangled boafox and marked it with a toothpick for easy retrieval. Now she just had to figure out what spices she had. A minute of feeling around yielded an assortment of bottles. Dabbing her finger in one, she pulled out some powder and put it to her tongue. The first taste held an oily texture. She could use this to glaze her boafox. Setting it next to the toothpicked mini, the ghoul reached for another bottle, dabbed her finger, and tasted... mint. This would make a very nice seasoning! Dabbing her finger into the last bottle, Kari was met with... blood?! No... it tasted like blood, but not quite... what in the world had she picked up? In any case, she could make a blood glaze with mint seasoning. To do that, she would need to cook her boafox while basting it in the blood and oil glaze. Starting off, Kari took out the innards of the Boafox. At least she tried to. After a copious amount of squishing and squelching, she deemd the task complete and did her best to position the mini on its stomach in a deep cooking pan, its paws tucked underneath as though crouching. She coated the boafox with the minty spice she'd obtained earlier, then mixed her oily and blood-like spices together until she had enough to fill the deep pan halfway. Giving the Boafox it's first coating, she put the Boafox in the oven to cook, pulling it out every so often to give it another coating while checking the crispness of the skin that slowly formed with every new coat before popping it back into the oven to cook once more. With ten minutes to spare, Kari pulled out the Boafox and checked the skin. It felt nice and crisp to the touch while giving off a slight minty aroma. She couldn't see her work, but at least it smelled alright. Now, she had to get her boafox onto the plate. "Please let this work...", Kari moaned to herself as she cut into the mini. Kari cringed in horror as her hand slipped and a crash resounded in front of her. Everything had just fallen on the floor... setting the knife down in a panic, Kari felt around the area in a feeble attempt to salvage her Boafox. Even though she was used to heat, Kari still hissed as she lifted the cooked mini, searing her skin in the process. Quickly cutting what she surmised was a hefty portion of meat, she set it on the plate and sprinkled some extra mint and a small portion of her blood glaze onto it. Hopefully, that would hide any trace of dirt that found its way onto the meat. Bringing the plate out, Kari set it down and tried to muster a smile, even though she really didn't feel like smiling at the moment. "My dish tonight is Blood-Glazed Mint Boafox, please enjoy." An invisible challenge!! To be honest, Hanna was not entirely thrilled about it but he still was going to do his best. When the clock ticked down Hanna started investigating what was in front of him, trying to figure out what he could make.
After skating his hands across the counter top for a minute, he felt his hand brush by something. Bingo! He went closer to it, managing to put a hand around it and pick it up. It was tiny! And slightly scaly took. It took him a second to realize what he was holding was a Luck Dragon. Hanna put it back down, in a place where he'd remember where it was, and continued onward. Hanna started looking for the second mini he had in front of him, once again looking like he had dropped his glasses. He heard a jingle after a minute and something slide, alerting it to his location. A mini? Picking up the furry thing, he investigated with his hands to find... beads? Oh, a Jambalawwa! That explained the sound. It had wings on it and Hanna moved this one to the far corner of his table. OOC NAME OF CONTESTANT: Hanna Worth STAGE: Stage 1 Name of dish: ??? TALLY TOTAL N/A

He set about with his hands looking for a mini a final time, this time more intent on finding one. There was a jangle this time as he moved around and he blinked, homing in on the mini. Another Jambalawwa, although this one had a tail this time. Setting down the mini next to the other, Hanna decided it was now time to make his dish.

Going with the Luck Dragon, Hanna decided on something that was akin to a comfort food at his house, Shepard's pie. Although, this was Hade's kitche, so it was probably best to do it a little... fancier than normal. But first, he had to get the meat!
Holding the luck dragon, he felt around until he had it by the neck. With a quick and what he hoped was a well aimed chop, he cut the neck off. Next he descaled the tiny mini and degutted it, feeling like he was nicking something in the process and flinching while he did.
Finally, he had something resembling a pile of useable meat in front of him. Or what he thought was usable. He really couldn't tell that well.
The mashers came next in prep, as Hanna peeled and sliced the invisible things as best he could, followed by tearjerkers and bad for your eyes. He managed to cut himself while doing this, but it was stopped quickly and it wasn't while he was chopping, thankfully. He'd just handled moving a knife wrongly.
Finally, Hanna was ready to season and cook. OOC NAME OF CONTESTANT: Hanna Worth STAGE: Stage 2 Name of dish: Deconstructed Shepard's Pie TALLY TOTAL 10

Now it was time for the spices. Grabbing, or at least aiming to grab them, three, Hanna sat them down in front of him and tasted. The first was spicy, just extremely spicy, and Hanna frowned as he tried to scrape the taste away. Usable, but not idea.
The second was... moldy. Gross! He pushed it away. That definitely wasn't going to be used.
The final one was salty, which was extremely helpful. Always needed salt, salt can make good food taste great. At least glad he had two things to help, he started to work on cooking everything.
The meat went into a pan to cook, the sliced tearjerkers and bad for your eyes in another, while the mashers started to boil in a pot of water. The salty thing was added to all three, in a small amount, to help. The veggies, besides the mashers, got a touch of the spicy as an added kick.
The mashers were what Hanna attended to first, having put them on first. They were cooked and he turned to finally mash them and puree them into mashed.. mashers. They were good, regardless, and he made sure to add the salty stuff and a tiiiiny bit of the spicy before he moved on.
The meat finished second, as far as he could tell, and he tasted it before leaving it in the pan. The juices that had come off of it tasted great and he wanted to keep them.
The veggies were last, only by a minute, and they were fine if spicy. Glad that everything had come together, all Hanna had to do was plate it now. OOC NAME OF CONTESTANT: Hanna Worth STAGE: Stage 3 Name of dish: Deconstructed Shepard's Pie TALLY TOTAL 10-2+0+2=10!

The semi-finals. She was here. And, despite the hurdles so far, Indu was feeling pretty chipper. Sure she hadn't been standing out at the lead, but she hadn't actually caused any major gastro-intestinal disaster. As she waited to open her box, she hoped there would be panty crabs inside. After the last round, she was feeling pretty comfortable with them. Of course, when she opened the box and saw the lovely pile of what appeared to be nothing at all, her mood plummeted like a brick. Why. Would. You. Cook. With. Invisible. Minipets. No one cooked with invisible minis. Raising them was hard enough, hell, picking them up off the ground was a challenge. Grumbling, she gingerly began to feel around inside the box like the rest of the contestants, her face twisted into an expression of dread. Hearing the faint jingle, she paused and frowned. What invisible mini had bells? Testing it a bit more with her fingers, she put it to the side as a possibility. Anything that wasn't fluffy or hairy would be easiest to work with, right? Because of course they wouldn't have removed that stuff. Contestants would probably be expected to shave the damn things.
