Brimlad heard enough commotion going on that she decided to investigate what was going on...and she could catch a bit of a it through the chatter. So the huge whale was finally picked clean? Her bright green-blue eyes shined at all the moving going on. Some members were moving the big ribs, while others were finding all sorts of goodies in and around the whale skeleton.

"Neat," she breathed to herself, and picked her way down towards it. It seemed like everyone was busily (and happily!) working hard, so she peeked down to see what she'd find. A small little bone laid there, its colour beginning to bleach from the sun. It was so interesting, she couldn't help but pick it up and examine it.

"...I wonder if my parents would approve," she mused. "Eh." She shrugged her shoulder and decided she'd keep it anyway, since it wasn't big enough to really help with anything.

As he came back towards the whale skeleton Kaikane couldn't help but to grin at the lioness who was inspecting a smaller bone. I wonder if she thinks it would make a fancy trinket to have? Tilting his head the lion studied her for a second before noticing something that she had missed next to the other bones, "Care for a second piece?"

He flushed lightly as he dropped the small bone in front of Brimlad, "Just figured it might look pretty with the other one you found as well." It definitely did have a certain shimmer to it after being in the sand and sun for so long. As much as he brawled though the lion figured a guard like him would have no use for such a thing so why not give it to another?

"I should probably go see if I can help carry another bone." Nodding politely the large lion began to look around once more.

He hadn't been present for the feast as he'd had additional duties to attend to; but when it came to the heavy lifting and hard work that the pride and their neighbours were putting in to moving the rather large obstacle from their shoreline, it would have been remiss of him to leave all the work to them! Thus the lion had descended from the cliff faces and on to the sandy beach to assist in the task. Suffice to say, it came as quite a surprise to see so many lions here - he hadn't realised Athena had been quite so charismatic.

Food for thought perhaps?

Still, with a small smile and an expression that was clearly impressed, the lion slipped through the hustle and bustle of cubs and adults alike to turn his attention to the whale bones. Now, here was the real question, would his 'old' bones be able to be of use or was he completely, and utterly, out of shape!

I'onoe could already feel her muscles aching from her movements; she wasn't really 'fit' and that was starting to show. She walked around the bones, staring curiously at the whale carcass. Her back ached from the large rib bone she had dragged back, so instead she started to collect the smaller bones, stumbling upon one that looked rather...nice.

Well for a bone. She examined it closely, before tucking it into her mane with her shell. She was going to have a weird hairstyle soon, she mused.

She stretched her back and stared at the carcass.

"I feel like I am too old for this," she mused lightly, but continued to circle the bones.

A mermaid's purse? He wrinkled his nose when Athena mentioned throwing it back. he'd rather not ever touch the thing again. Fortunately, Kicheko did it for him. Bad luck though, he preferred not to think about it. He felt he'd had more than his share of bad luck in this life already, no reason to invite more.

"That's true," he assented, "I'd never seen the ocean before I came here. It's beautiful." Though he wasn't sure how someone might have a chat with it. he wasn't one to question the rituals of a place he knew so little about. "My name is Rasul, but I've got so much bad luck I'm not sure the sea would know where its began or ended." He stared at his paws as he said the last, fishing through the sand. Beneath where the mermaid's purse had sad he found a spiral shell, it's exterior ridged with deep orange and white. It wouldn't make much of a tool, but perhaps he could make something beautiful instead.

After fighting to get the rib back to the dens all on her own, a harrowing feat considering her parcel had been longer than she was from nose to tail, having accomplished pushing the bowed bone all the way in land made Kawasemi feel giddy with delight. Strychnos had said they wanted those for building and she had actually been able to help retrieve one for them! Hopefully the ocean lions would be pleased with her work!

A bit breathless from the journey, though thankfully the rib hadn't been as heavy as it was cumbersome to move, she jogged at a leisurely pace back toward the skeleton. Surprisingly, or maybe unsurprisingly considering how many lions were helping, they were making quick work of the long bones. She'd already seen several up there and as she traveled back towards the scent of salt water and sea foam she could see a few more being dragged back the way she had just gone.

Flicking her tail in rhythm with her walk, the lioness paused when she found a particularly interestingly shaped bone in the sand, carefully gathering it up to bring to her companion cheerily. He had said she could keep the smaller ones, but she still wanted to make sure it was okay to take. By the time they were done she would have a whole pile of little bones! What Kawa planned to do with them was beyond her, but just having them was a start and it would leave her with fond memories of the time she had helped the sea lions carry bones to their home!

Strychnos! Strychnos! Calling out for the dark male, pale hues widened in surprise when her gaze lifted and she found not only Strychnos, but the handsome blue lion also drawing up short before her. A laugh bubbling from her. Strychnos! Yui nena e llsaialn!(You made a friend!)

"Rasul," Kicheko repeated, a grin on her face as she finally got his name. "Well, welcome to the pride. This is one heck of a greeting. This isn't very normal," she added, nodding to the whale as she returned to the rib cage to work at another rib. "The sea doesn't give gifts like this every day. You should have been here a few weeks ago. We had to eat all the meat off this thing to get it to this point!"

As she spoke she got another rib down so, pausing for a moment in their conversation, she grabbed it and dragged it up to join the others. Being one of the den-makers she knew how important it was to get all these ribs up in a timely matter. Now that they were cleaned, it was only a matter of time before a storm came or the tide rose higher than usual and swept the gifts back into the sea.

When she returned, she flashed Rasul another grin. "Maybe the sea will decide you have have so much bad luck that mermaids purses are actually good luck for you."

Ha'r lud nirr llsaialn.(He's not my friend.) Strychnos' tone was surly at best as he had had to scramble to catch up with the stranger who had slid past him on the shifting sand. Together they had nearly charged up to Kawasemi, which must have looked ridiculous. She didn't seem startled by them though, rather the expression on her face was rather joyous. It was clear that the sheltered female was having a good time though that made the Poison King feel uneasy for reasons he couldn't explain.

Uncertain of exactly what was being exchanged between them in their foreign tongue, Catamaran felt harried to interject before the dark male could spin any lies about him. My name is Catamaran. Cat-a-ma-ran.

He repeated his name a bit slower for her in hopes that the added emphasis would make it clear he was introducing himself and then, quickly continued. It's a pleasure to meet you. I would like to... ah, wait!

Catamaran barely noticed the mermaid's purse in time to keep the pale lioness from accidentally stepping on it. He wasn't a particularly superstitious lion and wasn't sure if a lion would be cursed with bad luck for touching one, but he wasn't about to take any chances with the stranger either. Unfortunately, that meant bumping her off her current track and though he didn't intend to knock her over, he was quite a bit larger than she was. Don't step on that!

As startled by the outburst as Kawasemi had appeared to be, his similarly ghostly hues narrowed where hers widened, immediately leaping to his companion's defense as he shoved the lion called Catamaran with his shoulder. Voice booming with anger. Don't touch her!

Doria blinked her bright orange eyes gently as she watched the others. Thus far she had been relatively quite, though the past few weeks had been filled with a new joy. Since happening upon the pride and it's lands, she had felt more at home than ever before. She'd seen the sea once as a cub, and had never ceased talking about it. It had influenced everything, even her name. Now she had found it again she did not intend to let it go.

It would definitely help for her to assist the pride in their efforts to pull apart the large skeleton, so she helped with nothing more than a side glance. Doria was unsuccessful in procuring a rib, but managed to find a shell.

It was beautiful, whorled and speckled with dark colours. Perhaps she'd keep it, it was a reminder of her new adventure.

More bad luck. Rasul cringed, flattening his ears down against his head as he began to wonder what else the world could throw at him. If these purse things were so terrible he shuddered to think what would have to happen to make them seem good by comparison.

"The meat must have been a boon, if this place is anywhere like my homeland I'm sure there are lots of little mouths to feed," he told her, turning his attentions again toward the skeleton. He couldn't have imagined the thing that stood before him, let alone covered in flesh. It must have been enormous. He ran his paws along the skull, trying to imagine massive eyes staring out from the empty sockets and powerful jaws clenching those teeth together. He shuddered, some things were just too powerful to confront. But she said that this wasn't common, so perhaps the odds of encountering one alive were even lower.

Once she had managed to bury her shell somewhere safe and a little distance off in the way of safekeeping, she turned her attention towards Rasul.

She was thinking along the same lines as him, it was difficult to imagine what the whale would have been like in the water, swimming around. They were such large and magnificent creatures, and she had never seen one alive. When she had first encountered the skeleton it was a moment of intense fascination. It hadn't seemed to wane.

"It really is huge? Isn't it?"

Doria moved her dark paws to trace some of the indents on the skull, pushing against it firmly. It didn't budge. "Hm."

Kicheko shrugged just a bit. "There was a baby boom when I was born...lots of litters. But recently there haven't been very many. I could count on one paw the number of couples that have been blessed."

That wasn't a bad thing, though. They had just discovered their island neighbors, as well as gotten friendly with the Kizi, so there was a lot of activity between the three groups of lions. There'd be cubs soon, although it wasn't a sure thing they'd all end up here.

She gave a soft 'ooh' as she saw a pretty shell, one that shone all the colors of the rainbow on one side and was rather ugly and black on the other. "That one's pretty," she said, giving the small shell a flick to get it out of the way.

"Enormous," he agreed, nodding toward the female that had come to join the group. "My father took us through elephant graveyards when I was young, but they always seemed so worn and old. These bones are so bright and there's already life slipping in among them." A crab scuttled past his paws as he spoke, causing him to shuffle a little to the side.

In his haste to avoid crushing the little creature he tripped over a piece projecting up out of the sand. It was bone, that much he could tell, but where it had come from he couldn't venture to guess. Not all parts would be equally as useful, he supposed.

He smiled seeing Kicheko admiring the shell, this really was a much simpler way of life. "I'm sure there will be, if you've all been so blessed in other ways." He glanced back toward the dens, "And there'll certainly be room after all this expansion."

"An elephant graveyard?" She gasped quietly. Until now, Doria hadn't seen a skeleton. Here there was standing a male who had seen skeletons of some of the biggest creatures. She looked at him with wide eyes.

"How did you find an elephant graveyard?"

She peered towards Kicheko and admired the shell for a moment. She didn't know much about the pride, but it seemed like a safe place to be, and if the Gods were kind enough to bless them with this skeleton, perhaps they would bless them with new life, too.

As she dug her paws through the sand next to the ribs, she found a small bone and pushed it aside.
