Katie stared at him. His tears made her annoyed. "I might seem like a flower to you, but all I bare is poison and thorns." She debated on blowing a puff of smoke in his face like before, but she couldn't even stand to face him. Katie turned away, crossing her arms as she held the lit cig. "What happened to Mr. Hardass? I liked you better in the classroom. You are too soft and kind when no one is around." She pushed past him and walked out of the bathroom, crushing her cigarette in a nearby ashtray. Katie was flattered he was nice to her, but she couldn't stand the slight difference in his attitude toward others and herself. "I'd tell you sorry.. But at the moment I'm pissed and don't mean it." She gathered up some items in a backpack, items that looked like she'd be gone for a while.

 "Even with your poison and thorns, I still care about you." said Korvain softly. "You want to know why I'm so soft and kind? Because that's really who I am on the inside, Katie. The only reason I'm a hardass in the classroom is because it's the only way to maintain order; to ensure that the students behave and pay attention."
Korvain could see Katie was packing to go somewhere, so he walked up to her and took her by the hand. Even though he grinned at her wickedly, the pain and despair was clear in his eyes. "Since you like me when I'm a hardass, I'm going to be one right now... Wherever you're going, I am following you." he said in an authoritative tone of voice "And if you don't like it, well - tough s**t." he then kissed her hand, smiling at her. He didn't like having to be so stern with her, but it seemed that if he didn't she was just going to walk away from him.

Katie sighed. "So you wanna come with me to get a pregnancy test? I'm not sure if that's a smart idea. Someone might see us and get suspicious." She gave him an arrogant smile. She really wasn't going to get one, her pills helped to keep the babies away. Where was she really going? The music store in the mall, maybe to get a hair cut and treat herself to a spa. There was no way in hell she was going to school after what happened last night.
"You know what happened to Odysseus when he and his men found the Lotus Eaters, right? They became so intoxicated that they became blind to what reality was. Trapped for years just to realize that nothing came from enjoying the ecstasy of a sweet flower." Katie took her hand back and looked at it.

Korvain held on to Katie's hand, "Yes, I would like to come with you... and I will wait outside while you get the test if it makes you feel better." he then gazed solemnly into her eyes, his heart pounding faster at her mention of a pregnancy test... He had always wanted a family of his own. "And Katie, if it turns out you are pregnant, I will do this the right way... I will stay with you and our child, and I will be the best father I can."
"I never knew you were into Greek mythology..." said Korvain, smiling at Katie. He knew who Odysseus was, but he was surprised that she did. "Perhaps I'd rather be trapped by your flower and blind to reality, though..." he then sighed, looking depressed "For as long as I can remember, my life has been empty, meaningless; I've gotten by, but I've never been truly happy. When I'm around you, I feel like I've finally found what I've been looking for all these years, Katie. You are what I've been missing. Even if I am truly a fool for feeling this way, I don't care..." he gazed deeply into Katie's eyes, hoping that she would accept his feelings and not hurt him anymore.

Katie stared at him, when he spoke about never being truly happy.. How long had he lived alone? Tears began to stream down her face as she looked at him. Without thinking she pulled away, fright written on her expression. "Wh-what? Why am I.. Crying?" She touched her cheeks and quickly wiped away the salty tears. "I'd never have a child. Never! I wouldn't want to bring something so fragile into the world only for it to be destroyed later on." She turned her back to Korvain and let out a shaky breath.
Her hands felt numb and so did her legs. She tried to lift up her arms and it felt like she had no control of them, no feeling in them. A pang in her stomach made her want to run away and hide in the corner. She was scarred. "M-Mr. Bhilani.. I can't feel my body. Everything's numb." Katie slowly walked over to her bed, sitting down and trying to calm herself. Her chest felt cold and tight, was this because of her sickness? She began to feel tired. Maybe just a nap would make her feel better. She closed her eyes and started to forget.

Korvain was confused about the first thing that Katie had said "Why do you think something would happen to our child, Katie. We'd protect it, make sure it lives a long and..."
It was then that Katie started getting sick. Korvain ran over to her, sitting down next to her on the bed, putting his arms around her and shaking her gently "Katie! Are you all right?" he asked, looking at her with worry on his face. "Do you need to go to the nurse's office?"

Katie shook her head as she opened her eyes. "No. Just hold me.." She began to feel the coldness fade away into warmth the longer she was in Korvain's arms. "You're probably wondering... I am sick. Just a cold, though." Katie smiled and rested her head on his chest. She really wanted to go to sleep, but knew she shouldn't.

Korvain held Katie tightly in his arms, enjoying the feel of her warmth... He suspected that she had more than just a cold, and he was worried about her. Whatever the problem may be, he hoped that she would tell him when she was ready. "If it's a cold, then I'm probably going to catch it too, from being so close to you..." he then smiled, kissing her cheek. "It was worth it, though... If you start to feel worse, just let me know and I'll take you to the nurse's office or a doctor - it's better to be safe than sorry."

Katie wasn't even in the mood for his poetic phrases and charming ways. Her hair fell out of the bun it was in and she sighed, looking at him with half-lidded eyes. Katie would have been in a great mood for sex in the morning, sweats in the afternoon, followed by a movie.. However life was She rolled her eyes and crawled out of his arms. She wrapped up in her fuzzy black blanket and pulled him close to her as she closed her eyes once again.

Korvain held onn tightly to Katie, gently running his hand through her soft hair as he gazed into her eyes. "You are safe, Katie... I promise you. I'm here for you now, and I won't let anything happen to you. I would gladly give my life just to protect you. If you ever feel afraid, or like your life is in danger, just let me know, all right?" He then sighed, gently caressing the side of her face with his hand. He could tell something was troubling her, practically eating her up inside, and he only wished that she would be more open with him. He felt a chill as he remembered her asking about THC and cancer... Could it be? Please, no... not that... not her... anything but that... He found that he was terrified of losing her. Even if his suspicions were correct, he would love and support her through it.

Katie opened her eyes to see the distressed look on Korvain's face. She figured it was time she told him. "Let me tell you a story.. It's about a girl who did something horrible, something that she can never take back." Katie looked away from him and stared at the ceiling. "She was the most adored girl in her whole school, everyone wanted to be her. To have her looks, her friendship, and her love. But, one person wanted her more than anyone; a teacher. She returned his feelings and they met in secret to be alone with each other.. Because this girl was so envied by others, she had enemies without even knowing it. Someone who hated her, but wanted her all to himself, found out about her secret affair with the teacher and threatened to tell everyone. If anyone found out, he would lose his job and could be put in jail. So the girl made a hard decision and pretended to hate the teacher, hoping he'd forget about her. Word spread fast through the school and the girl became less popular among her peers, however she had to go out with the one who caught her with the teacher. So it seemed more like revenge. The teacher sued her family and the girl was sent away. A long time passed before she returned to find out that the teacher she'd loved so much had killed himself.. All because he thought she didn't love him anymore." Katie had tears in her eyes by then and got out of the bed, walking over to a computer desk to sit in the chair. She wanted a nice distance between her and Korvain.

Korvain followed Katie over to the chair. He gave her a kiss on the cheek, then knelt down beside her and pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that, Katie..." said Korvain softly "But I promise you, it will be different this time. If anyone or anything tries to come between us, I'm not going to let them. I will fight to keep us together, no matter what may come our way. Even if you decide to pretend to hate me, I still won't give up on you. One thing you'll find out about me is that I don't give up easily - in fact, I don't give up at all. I am determined to be with you, no matter the risks." he then pressed his lips to hers and kissed her once again. He had never been this serious about anything or anyone in his entire life.

Katie was glad to have distracted Korvain from the even harsher truth. The disease that was eating away at her every second she didn't seek help. "Joy.. I am joyful to hear that." She smiled slightly and allowed for the kiss. Katie felt safe in his arms, but even he couldn't protect her from fate. "Classes will be starting soon. You should go." A warm bath sounded rather enticing considering she didn't feel well enough to go to the mall.
